Today I had a different post planned but no worries as you will see it super soon…but I wanted to sneak this post in and I am going to call the my "Indulgence Post" hmmmmm……do I have you wondering what I am talking about!
I have had a lot of time to do a lot of thinking (which could be a good thing or a bad thing) and being stuck inside I have naturally had lots of time to reflect on things!
To learn the "low down" on how to make this gem, please click here to see my original post and then you can click here to see it again in another way! I was super happy with this one – the Stacked with Love Paper stack is simply fabulous and I adore the "thanks" framelit…so clean and classic!
I think as we get older we do not allow ourselves the opportunity to "indulgence" in something that we would not normally do for ourself…if you are like me – I would rather do things for John and the peeps….the animals….and I usually put myself last – does this sound familiar to you?
Yesterday I was super frustrated that I could not accomplish a task that to me I should have been able to do…yes, it was with the silly computer but after having a pity party which only Rosie showed up for I decided to switch gears and make some gifts to thank people for dropping off dinners to us…plowing our lane…just great acts of kindness as this is John's busy season….Tax time!
I have made these "old faithfuls" so many times and every time I blog about them I get many comments. This is where indulgence comes in. WHY? – Because it uses the Big Shot…..WHY does that matter?….well clearly the Big Shot is an investment…the Big Shot is basically $100.00 and when we see that we go…..OH NO…I couldn't do that!
Well that is exactly the way I thought about it….and when I finally broke down and purchased it (I used it as a 1/2 price item and that is definitely the way I would go if I were you), I still felt guilty….then you know what is next…you need to purchase dies, framelits etc….to use the Big Shot.
The Top Note Die was probably the 1st Die I purchased….I have no idea why – probably because someone told me I just had to have it…and this post is a testament to how thankful and grateful I feel that I allowed myself to indulge in something that brings me joy….
I simply cannot tell you how many of these "Top Note Boxes" I have made and each and every time I do…I am thankful that this incredible "hobby" has come into my life!
Little things like this box of Life Savers DOES make a difference.
You know how you feel when you receive a gift that someone took the time to make for you – especially something made from their hands…that in itself is a gift!
When the new Occasions Catalog came out I was like a little kid in a candy store and there were sooooo many things that I wanted…..again – here comes the "indulgence thing" again….I really – REALLY wanted the Crazy About You Bundle and yikes the photopolymer one is $42.25….and I was feeling a bit guilty but again, I did get it as a 1/2 price item and just look how many times I have used it over the last several weeks!
The moral of this story is embrace what makes you tick…we all have gifts and many of these inner gifts that we have make such a difference. If you doubt this, go back and read some of the comments that people left on the blog candy post….you all are great….
"THANKS"
p.s. – Good Morning ….I only have (2) spots left for my Stamp of the Month Kit….please click here to see the post on it and if you want a spot, please email me and put in the Subject Line FEBRUARY STAMP OF THE MONTH CLUB.

Great project! I love the “life savers” idea! I need to get the Top Note die. So many things I want, limited amount of money to spend. Sigh. But, I always seem to end up spending $400 during Sale-a-Bration. Do I need any more stamps? No, not one. But I love so many of the new ones! And they have framelits and punches. And then there is the paper! Yep, I see another $400 purchase coming…
I hope you have a great weekend! I hope the next snow storm misses you.
Cyberhugs!
The lifesavers are so appropriate Susan. You can have a pity party every once in awhile.
We all understand. And do treat yourself too. You deserve it.
This is a very thoughtful post in so many ways. I had little lakes in my eyes as my grandson says to me. We are thankful for you and who yoi are
Susan you express so many of the things we feel! Thanks for doing that. Every time you post the Top Note Box I promise myself that I am going to make one! Today is the day! Thanks for the inspiration!
Love the box! I was wondering if there will be a post explaining how to make it?
Sorry I neglected to read this post. When I did I see that there is a link back to exactly what I wanted!?
Hi Pat….towards the beginning of the post I provided (2) different links to previous post showing you a step by step way to make them
I do hope you try…they are a wonderful little gift and always so well received! Thanks for popping in!
Oops….I did not see this comment until I answered! Enjoy the day!
DO IT…DO OT…Today is Kathy’s day!!!! You will be smiling!
You are sweet….I really mean what I wrote – too many times we forget to recharge what makes us happy! Enjoy the day!
Thanks Dorothy! I must say – the valentines life savers that are out….have (2) red flavors and the other is yellow which is pineapple….guess who’s eating the pineapple….ME!
Hello me friend across the sea…AS I said in my post I have no idea why I bought that….but I sure am glad I did!!!
Sale-a-bration is AMAZING this year….what is your favorite?
Happy (early) Birthday to you…..Happy (early) Birthday to you…..Happy (early) Birthday dear Frenchie…..
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!
You always make me smile…many more happy and healthy returns my friend!
Yes, yes, yes! My husband used to always send flowers for every holiday and in between, and I loved getting them. There’s just something about receiving fresh beautiful flowers until…Stampin Up came into my life. Now, no flowers, jewelry, candy, clothes, trinkets, nothing, nada, zilch…just Stampin Up. That’s when Im in my Happy Place. Love your post and creativity, glad your feeling better.
Oh, I agree with all the posts and your reply to them, Susan. For my birthday, in October, my husband did give me SU money too. So much fun. My favorite Life Saver is peppermint. My peeps tease me that whenever something went wrong whey they were growing up, I’d say, have a Life Saver and move on. Truly makes me LOL.
🙂
Hello My friend! I am so sorry you are frustrated. It is certainly understandable. If I wasn’t so technology challenged I would try to help you. You were right to step away and “Do what makes you happy”.
I think you need a road trip escape…time to pack the scooter in the my van let’s go! 🙂
So cute ! Top Note was my first die and I still love it because it is so versatile .
I love these little boxes and thank you again for showing us how to make them a while back . I use them without the Top Note some also . I bet I have made eleventy hundred . I just love them .
A roll of Washi Tape inside makes a fun gift too.
So cute and I love the “life saver’s” idea! I think Jeanie has a good idea for you! I wish I had a pal to do things with here. I need to make one of these boxes again. Thanks for the links to the posts as I am sure I could never find my original instructions. That die was my first one too as I was told my several people it was the best one to have! I haven’t hardly even used it! But then again I was silly and didn’t take the Big Shot out of the box for over a year because I was scared to use it and thought I would break it!
