Here you go….a stepped up version of yesterday's card…click here to see it and then you can see the little changes I did…Will had a great Birthday….I had a great day and had a SUPER surprise as John came home from work around 4:30 (tax season – he works 7 days a week) and said – let's go…we are going to get you out of the house and go to Virginia to see the horses! (He is a a great guy and can use my scissors anytime)
Can you see the differences? Darn, the pictures do not do either of these cards justice but the changes I did were….
- I used the "punched out" space of the DSP and did a mat. (I was able to punch bow ties for both cards with this mat and also extra scraps. (I adore this punch)
- I used the Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder on the Sahara Sand
- I "Heat Embossed" the sentiment in clear embossing powder – this is a SUPER effect and one that think we forget about – it always created a great texture and subtle bling!
I think that I am going to submit this to the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge this week…..I think it is in the guidelines of the sketch but I need your help! Should I submit yesterday's card or today's card? Leave me a comment and I'll let you do the gambling for me!

Please also leave me a comment and let me know if you are enjoying these (2) day posts showing the ways that you can "step it up" but still keep it clean, classic and simple!
Below you can see all of the products used for this fun card! It is sooooo darn easy to "click" on the item and PRESTO – in the shopping cart it goes, now I call that easy shopping!
Thanks for popping in today….I hope that you will leave me a comment and please pop back tomorrow as I am super-duper excited for the "personal" challenge I have for you! The random winner will win some Stampin' Vitamins…..aka – Stampin' Dimensionals!
Stampin' hugs! Until tomorrow…..

Good morning Susan,
Just wanted to let you know how much I liked this card. Like the changes that you made. Dressed it up a bit. Will make for a great manly card. Always looking for them.
So glad your hubby took you for a ride as you really needed that I’m sure and it was also good for him to get away all the NUMBERS ! So stressful at this time of year. Enjoy your week. Suppose to warm up a few days and we’ll think Spring has arrived !!!!!
I love seeing two versions of one card–it helps me get more ideas for cards I might make. I do think this card fits the sketch and I recommend today’s…although I like the sentiment set off in yesterday’s card, that extra layer of DSP really makes today’s bow pop more. Glad you got out yesterday! Thanks for sharing.
I think today’s card is the one to submit. Thanks for all your ideas.
WOW, I went back to look at yesterday’s card and like it better. As I read the three previous comments, I’m the odd man out for sure. I especially like the scored lines.
I am loving your two-day posts and how a simple change makes such a difference. Glad you got to get some fresh air yesterday, and a surprise at that.
🙂
I do enjoy the ‘step it up’ views. It’s nice to see the subtle changes. Usually both cards are awesome.
I really like both cards, but today’s stepped up version wins my vote. Glad you got out and about yesterday – your hubby is a real keeper!
Both versions are so manly, I think perhaps the second is more youthful and the first more so for the professional man. But I say they’re both super and sure to be a CAS for all of us.
It is fun to see how you come up with that little ‘step-up’ to each card. Scratch my head every time and say why didn’t I think of that. But that’s Susan’s job. Have a great day, stay warm.
I love seeing a card ‘stepped up’. It gives me lots of ideas to use when I am making cards.
Thank you Susan an I am glad you got out of the house for a bit.
Love, love, love the two day step-it-up! It helps because you may need that extra “ump” sometimes since everyone’s tastes are not the same and you show us how to achieve this. I love both cards especially the diagonal stripe emboss on the one and the off set sentiment on the other so my pick is yesterday’s card for submission since it was specially made for your son. Have a fun day, Susan!
I really like yesterday’s card as it is more CAS. I like the scored square and how it makes the other sqaures stand out. However that being said the stepped up version is great, it gives the card a completely different feel.
Hmm…hard to choose, the score lines being my favorite on the first card, but loving the ‘polish’ of the stylish stripes embossing folder, the DSP matting and the clear embossing (I forget to use that, too!) on the 2nd. I have to vote for the 2nd card! Thanks ever so much for your ongoing tip about using the “inside area” of the mat since it will just be covered up anyway! Life was the same at our house, growing up as the daughter of a CPA; work 7 days a week Jan-April 15th!
Glad you got in an outing with John yesterday.
FYI, I have “community scissors hanging in plain view in my basement and in my garage. I’m sure you can guess what prompted that!
I do enjoy your step it up posts. Love both your cards, but I like your first one just a pinch more. TFS
Both cards are great. There are elements in each that I really like. That said I would submit today’s version. It seems lighter and brighter. Viewing cards online does not always do a card justice, but today’s card transmits more depth and interest. Good to hear you are out and about!
Ditto kiddo on Susan K’s comment. She said everything I was going to say. I really do like seeing stepped versions or just little changes on a card. Maybe we need to see them side by side? Did Will get to see both versions? If so, which did he prefer? Just curious if not nosey! Glad both of you had an outing, I don’t see how CPA and tax people handle all that esp at this time of year.
Love the simplicity of this masculine card. It is a keeper for casing.
I love seeing a card ‘stepped up’. It gives me lots of ideas to use when I am making cards.
Thank you Susan an I am glad you got out of the house for a bit.
Your card today seems more manly to me, for some reason. So I say submit that one! Glad you feel better and get to see your horses!
I very much like to see two versions of a card, so keep up the “step-it-up” cards coming. Today’s card is definitely the one that you should submit. Glad that your recovery is going well and that you had a chance to get out.
Sheeesh!! Susan, I can’t pick, both of them are beautiful and classy in their own right. The first one seems to me like for an older guy, like your dad or your hubby, an uncle or your boss. The second one is more upbeat, the Lost Lagoon card base makes it more fun, like for a young man, your twenty something son, nephew, grandson, etc.
Thank you for sharing this cards, both of them are beautiful
This is really lovely! You have such a gorgeous style – I can tell your cards a mile off! Thanks for joining us at FMS this week!
The colors and the bow tie make for one great man-card! I’m loving all these yummy layers! Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches!
