Having a great weekend? I sure am…..here is the stepped up version for this weekend and I can honestly say….I am not sure if it is stepped up or not!?!? It still was super easy, but it it just took a couple of extra steps!
I could not get the "collage" deal to work this week but I think that you will be able to see the main differences…I will bullet point them but I think that it is pretty straight forward!
Below is yesterday's card!
- This card I let the DSP be the fun focal part to the card…I adore this paper and again, this would be a "keeper" paper stack…"just in case" for a great masculine card –
- I also did not use any dimensionals on this card…it is totally flat!
Here is today's "stepped up" version…. (see the below bullet points )
- I changed up the DSP pop….I switched it and let the Always Artichoke be the focal with also running it through the Big Shot with the Stylish Stripes Embossing folder!
- "Behind" the shoes I added a 1/2" piece of Very Vanilla with a 1/4" piece of Always Artichoke to set the "shoes" off!
- I also changed the position of the sentiment….I think that it "set it off" better….but you can easily do it either way!
- You can also see the Stampin' Dimensionals were "key" today – we sure do love our stampin' vitamins!
- I did not touch on this yesterday….but I kept the envelope the same….I chose to use both of the colors on the back flap…I thought it was simple yet masculine….I love doing this as it saves on the DSP that you use!
We are having a FABULOUS weekend…doing everything and nothing all at the same time! We simply do not need to do anything but be together to have a fantastic time!
James made it home safely and brought "Leo", his rescue puppy! (sorry, no pictures of him as he will not stay still long enough to get a good picture) – he is having a BALL playing with our 5 dogs and he came with a TOTE BAG OF TOYS!
Here is another picture of the "OLD MAN" and he had a BLAST yesterday playing away! I think it is sooooo funny that he loves his toys!
Enjoy this day, and I hope that you are being able to celebrate the holiday weekend with family and friends …and if not – go do something FUN for yourself! We all need to rejuvenate from time to time and this weekend for me is a wonderful example of getting my battery re-charged!
I did something that I have not done at all this year! I was able to ride yesterday…..even if I just walked "Oscar" it was a start! He had surgery in February and this is the first week that we can "walk" him with someone on his back.
Hannah has been doing this all week and today was "my turn" as she is leaving this morning for her internship for the summer and she wanted to make sure that "Oscar and I" would be ok together….rehabbing a horse takes A LOT of time and a LOT of PATIENCE!
Until tomorrow….it is a personal challenge time!
Most important thing first…..love, love love the pic of Eddie and Mr. Duck! He is so adorable with his “this is mine” look!” Now on to the card…..it is so great! I love the colors and the extra stripe behind the shoes. Great job, Susan and enjoy your day!
Love the card Susan! The changes, though subtle, made a difference. My daughter has two rescued Golden retrievers who love their toys. Bodie, the older of the two, has to bring toys in his mouth to greet you at the door. The more toys the happier he is. Not small toys, big toys! I love it when I visit. Eddie’s picture reminded me of Bodie!
I really like this stepped up version of your card. I’m a big fan of the embossing folders and popping things up on Dimensionals. Great card! And OK, love little Eddie! He is too cute!
The embossing set it off for me! I need more ideas for masculine cards and this is a good one but I haven’t invested in that set yet. Love the Eddie pics. Glad you’re back in the saddle.
Hi Susan, I like this stepped up version very much. The embossed top did it for me. Where is Hannah’s Internship this summer . . . any place exotic? Eddie looks like a pure joy to have around! Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
🙂
Oh P.S. Will you be offering a ribbon share from the new catalog? No pressure, I was just wondering. 🙂
Yes, how could you not tell us where Hannah’s internship is? I love the photo of Eddie and the duck. Did Eddie try and play with Leo’s toys?
On to the card. I didn’t think it could be stepped up but this is even better as you can divide up the houndstooth piece for a couple of cards. I love the embossed strips on here. Sort of the tie that binds it – you know like a men’s tie! Sorry, couldn’t help myself. Plus the vanilla strip puts the polish on the shoes!
Maybe rehabbing Oscar will help strengthen your ankle too?
Teddy caught a baby bird this morning on our walk. I didn’t know what he was trying to get in some tall grass at Central College. He cradled it in his mouth and wanted to go home then which was a bit strange. Rarely is he in a hurry to go home. Anyway, after the couple blocks home we went inside and he laid it down in the living room. It was hopping around when I finally saw it. Mike took it outside where is hopped under a pine tree limb that was touching the ground. Now, watch some neighbor’s cat come and kill it. Teddy watched out the window as it was hopping around outside. That probably will be my excitement for the whole weekend.
Susan, I have just loved all your cards lately, and appreciate, the ideas for masculine cards since we all need them. The pet pics always
make me smile as well as the stories! We have a cat who plays wildly with his toys when we can’t see him (in another room), but acts indifferently when we try to interact! Aren’t they fun!
I like both versions of the card. I don’t prefer one over the other.
Wherever Hannah is going this year, I hope she has a great summer! You and Oscar can help each other rehabilitate. I’m glad your ankle is better enough to do it!
Cyberhugs!
Talk to you soon!
I loved your yesterday’s card, but I love today’s more! That stripe embossed top make a difference, doesn’t it?
I like today’s card best but they are both great! I love the picture of Sweet Eddie and Mr. Duck. You can tell how much love Mr. Duck has gotten and that’s great! Caleb reached out and literally started petting the computer screen :). I appreciate you sharing your family pics and stories…its part of the reason I look forward to your blog each day. I’m sure Hannah knows her horse is in the BEST hands!
Love this simple yet truly awesome card 🙂
