Woot-Woot! It's the weekend and I am doing the smiling Susan dance as I do love these 2 day challenges! Today card is a simple and clean card (just my style) and then please pop back tomorrow to see the stepped up version!
Today's card showcases 3 colors that I love together (white,my navy and green)….so classic, so clean, so fresh! It doesn't get any cleaner than this and you can see how you can easily change the colors…the orientation of the card to get a total different look!
p.s. – make sure you hang on to the end because there is a SURPRISE that I think will make you smile…no peeking yet = please see the scoop on the card today and then ENJOY!
Let's get going!
- This is a 4" square card and you will see on Monday where is is going! Square cards are my HANDS DOWN favorite and being able to make your own envelope is a cinch with our envelope punch board.
- This is a super fun stamp set and I am happy that it will be around as it is a fun one! This coordinates with the deco label framelits so it is a win -win each and every time!
- All of the sentiments are stellar and fun – and it can be used for so many occasions – it makes a perfect card and you will see on Monday how I am going to use this stamp set again.
- To get the polka dots "perfect" I used the embossing folder and then the 1/2" punch to place the garden green circles just where I wanted them
- Stampin' Dimensionals did the trick to lift the sentiment up to shine! (Don't be skimmy on them)
- Envelope time…using this amazing DSP to line the back flap was a quick and simple touch
Don't you love these colors together? They are so classic – can't you imagine other color combinations to give a totally different twist!
Well….thoughts??? Can you see making a card like this? Please pop back tomorrow to see the changes I did (that literally took a minute but can it a new look!) I hope that these types of post encourage you to look at your work in different ways.
Remember, no rules…just works of art from your heart! Thanks for popping by and please do not forget to check out the weekly deals…and also the retiring goodies! (Just because they are retiring doesn't mean that they are not keepers! There are many products that I will be keeping in my work area…cause' I love them!)
Have a fabulous day and please feel free to email me! Until tomorrow!
p.p.s. – here you go…..now do the HAPPY DANCE – the NEW IN COLORS! So….sooooooo happy! What is your favorite? I'll let you know mine tomorrow!
Fun card! I need to try those colors together.
The new In Colors are interesting! The Watermelon fills the spot vacated by Strawberry Slush. The Dijon is an interesting color. I like the brighter green and the grey! Should be fun!
Cyberhugs!
See you on skype.
Great card, I wonder how you will tweak it tomorrow.
Now, the new colors are pretty, the Cucumber Crush jumps at me in this picture, looks very vibrant, I also like the Delightful Dijon, it looks like gold to me, the Watermelon Wonder is kind of the Strawberry Slush, but a tinge lighter, the Mint Macaroon looks very soft, like for baby cards and the Tip Tap Taupe (catchy name) will work great for masculine cards.
Thank you for the sneak peek of this new colors Susan.
Have a great weekend.
Tip Top Taupe…so much can be done with this new neutral
Love the card – the polka dots are awesome!!
Tip Top Taupe and Cucumber Crush are soooo awesome – I say a big WOOT WOOT!
Ooh, Susan, what a great card! Can’t wait to see your stepped up version tomorrow.
It always takes me awhile to warm up to the new in colors so I don’t have a favorite color yet. Are you giving us a sneak peek at some other new products (ribbon, embellishments, stamps, Framelits, Thinlits, DSP, etc.)?
Fun card and clever way to do polka dots. Love navy and green together….this combo is so vibrant (reminds me of RL’s collection). I must say my eye went to Cucumber Crush and I can’t wait to see what you do with this color!
Love Tip Top Taupe, alone or as an anchor for the other four. This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship …
Great card! Love the dots, love the colors. That combination has been my favorite for a long time too! The stamp set is not part of my collection, but I think it may soon be!
Really like most of the new colors but miss a blue in the collection. I think I’m most excited with the taupe.
Looking forward to the ‘step up’ tomorrow.
Have a great weekend! Will the Kentucky Derby be in your plans?
Very RL card (distant color memories ) Like this card of yours …a keeper for sure .
I am liking all of the new colors ! That Cucumber Crush is a great new green that packs a wow ! Can`t wait to try them all . That Taupe is great and the Dijon is more toward a Fall choice for me . I think the Mint is awfully close to P. Pudding ….and I bet I am going to love that Watermelon Wonder !!! Such fun !!
What a super great post for me today! First the card is a keeper. My mind was racing – where did she get that DP – I want it now! The color combo is one of favorites – I am still in mourning over the gumball green and muse blue loss! Then, to read how you made the paper – I have to have that EF now – I keep thinking I will get it but have been putting it off! You even tell us what size of circle punch to use! Then, you tell me the set will be continued – double woot for that! I have had that on my list for quite awhile too and keep saying to wait because I don’t think I have the framelits that go with the set. I would not be willing to cut them out each time – I am too lazy for that! I love the umpteenth birthday one and would use the others often too. Then, you used that DP on the envelope and I love that pattern. That would make me swoon to have it in one the smaller stacks in various colors. I can’t wait, well I can but am grumbling on waiting to see the stepped up version!
Then, you topped it all off with the new colors! My first glimpse of them. They look like a great take on what was just retired – similar but just a little different. It will be fun to see the difference in the strawberry slush vs. the watermelon wonder as well as the taupe and the mint macaroon vs. pistachio pudding. Good grief, all these foods make a person hungry!
Favorite – no idea but I think the tip top taupe might be the new “black” as they say since it would look smashing with so many colors like navy, green, etc. That delightful Dijon sounds so yummy and looks sort of a burnished gold or enough a bronzish color. All look pretty delish and I can’t wait to see them up close and personal!
Thanks for making my day Susan!
Hi Susan, Being a watercolor person (Pisces), I would have to vote for Mint Macaroon. I’m afraid that Delightful Dijon is just not going to make it in my book!
I had to race right upstairs and make this, and it is so cute IRL. I think you meant 3/4″ punch, though, as that fits perfectly, and the 1/2″ is too small. Thanks for sharing this great idea.
Sorry we did not skype yesterday….hopefully today! I know…I know – I am super excited about the new In Colors – I think that they are all going to be fantastic!
I hear you – I think (I am hoping) that the Cucumber Crush is the green that I was hoping for)I can hardly wait to get them in my hands….and then create! Thanks for popping in!
BINGO – as much as I loved Baked Brown Sugar, I think that this is going to be the icing on the cake and it will look amazing with so many colors!
I hear that WOOT-WOOT loud and clear – you just can’t go wrong with Polka Bots…always an instant smile!
Thanks for your comment Kathy….I am usually like you about warming up to the new colors, but this year – I feel very confident that they are all winners!
Yes, I will be posting more sneak peeks whenever I am able…I know we all are excited!
I TOTALLY agree – A great navy, green and white screams a RL item! I can remember when Hannah as probably 2 yeards old she had the most adorable bathing suit in these colors that was RL….You bet the minute I get my paws on the new green – you all will see it!
LOVE…ADORE your comment…I think I too will be having a great friendship with my 5 new best friends for the next 2 years!
OH MY GOODNESS! The new colors are luscious! And you want us to pick a favorite? If I must, I’d pick Watermelon Wonder and Cucumber Crush. Wait, that’s two. Oh well, I love them all! Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait to see more goodies from the new catalog. Also looking forward to the ‘Step it up’ of your card tomorrow.
Hello my friend – I am watching the Derby now and loving all of the horses and traditions of this special race!
You do need this stamp set – I think with all of the fun things that you and your sister like to do – you would get a lot if use from it!
Please don’t be “blue” – we will learn to LOVE all of the new colors and the Taupe is going to be a winner!
Oh Sonny….you always bring a smile to my face! I love how you think with the new colors – let the good times roll!
Chris….it is YOU that makes my day and I am sure a bunch of other readers. When I am “down” – your comments always pick me up and smile…love your comment about getting hungry!
When I get them, I will put them side by side to see the difference …..
Thanks for being that special….YOU!
Hang tight…I can remember when Summer Starfruit ( I think that was the name) came out…I thought it was the worst and then by the end of the 2 year timeframe I was sad to see it leave…
I am looking forward to seeing them in person but I do love that Mint!
You are a life saver…thanks for picking that up! I will change it for tomorrow – soooooo glad that you liked the card!
It is a super fun time…I just think that it is great that we all get so excited to see the new goodies. Thanks for popping by today and I hope that you like tomorrows card
For some reason, the new colors make me hungry! 😉 They’re one big fruit salad!
I like the Cucumber Crush, but, like Sharon, I miss a blue in the bunch! Think how pretty that green would look with a pretty blueberry blue for your cute card today!
Thanks for sharing!
I do think cucumber crush will be a fun color. I think all 10 in colors together look nice.
O.k. I admit I am no techno weenie but what in the world is RL and IRL?
That Dijon color will be a hit in the fall I bet. I agree with that summer starfruit – I hated it and refused to use it for the longest time and then it sort of grew on me until I used it and then they took it away! When I see one at the grocery store – I have to smile!
Maybe we need some cheese names to round out the menu sometime. They seem to be heavy on the desserts, fruits and veggies maybe.
