Well….here it is – a quick stepped up version! There isn't much difference or time element to put into it but I hope that you can see that making these simple changes will do the job!
I loved everyones comments yesterday and I responded to many of them while watching the Kentucky Derby! I am sorry that some of you had some "hiccups" in viewing my blog yesterday – it was a Typepad issue and I am always at the mercy of the "cyber gods" to make things right!
Please click this image below so you can see the cards better and also read the text!
Let's get to it and I will explain the changes I made for today's card….a huge WOOT-WOOT to "mamajulie" who left me a comment and she was exactly right – I used the 3/4" circle punch NOT the 1/2" punch – great catch and THANKS (I am so glad that you made this card yourself, I am sure that it looks great)
- The size is the same, a 4" square card and then the navy is 1/4" smaller and than run through the big shot with the super fun Polka Dot embossing folder!
- I used the 3/4" circle punch to pop out the garden gree circles and then adhered them to the navy with my friend = "green glue"
- Next, I took the deco framlit and cut out the middle and then using (2) of the deco framelits I made a simple mat in garden green to adhered that to the polka dot base.
- I used a bunch of stampin' dimensionals to POP up the blue dot part! Then I snuggled the sentiment in the stamped/cut out area and laid it flat…love it!
- The finishing touch was the simple white dots made with the white gel pen, a must have accent tools but remember, it does take a bit longer to dry so be patient along with a simple heart to give it a bit of bling.
- Yesterday I adhered the back flap of the envelope…today I did the inside…just wanted to change it up a bit! (I adore this DSP – if I could purchase a a dozen sheets of this yummy navy and white paper = DONE!
Well…there you go my friends! I hope that you have enjoyed this 2 day post and I also hope that I have inspired you that making some simple changes can make a difference. They both are great and classics but you can see there are always options!
Pop back tomorrow as I am switching my schedule a bit but when you see the post – you'll understand why! I am so happy that you all enjoyed seeing the sneak peak of the new In Colors, I am thrilled with them and I am super excited to play!
I will be able to do a pre-order on Tuesday and with that pre-order I will be ordering the new catalogs! I will be sending to all of the wonderful customers that have order from me a copy of the new catalog.
If you are currently not working with Stampin' up! demonstrator,
I would be honored to help you.
If you would like me to mail you a catalog, please email me with your address and I will be happy to do so. I know that there are sooo many wonderful SUD out there and I encourage you to find the "right fit", but if you are not working with someone I would love to have fun with you!
I love what I do and I love helping you! What we do does make a difference…..you know it and so do the people that receive your works of art!
Until tomorrow!
Love this card and “stepped up” version too!
C-U-T-E! I especially love the extra pop of color from the Garden Green Deco Label matting. The white gel pen dots and punched heart also make this card extra fun. I feel a CASE coming on! We always watch the Derby too. I love seeing the beauty and strength of the horses. The race is always exciting even though it’s over in a flash! I hope you have a wonderful day!
WOW!! this is truly a step up card, love it!!! The framing of the sentiment with the white gel pen dots and the little green heart is what makes all the difference, somehow St. Patrick’s Day just popped into my head. This would be a truly fun card to celebrate, even the sentiment is perfect for it.
Great card Susan, thank you for sharing.
Thanks Lucy – you can not go wrong with either one!
I thought you would like this one Tricia! YES…I also adore the Kentucky Derby…I was glued to the TV and it always chokes me up to see these magnificent animals in their glory!
I know that it is a simple change but I think it is an effective one! Thanks for popping in!
Wow! Love it! The extra framelits with the dimensionals really pop this card and set it off perfectly! Of course, your dots are the “whipped cream on the sundae” which gives it the finishing touch!
I can’t get over how using the framelite made your already great card go “HELLO”!. Great step it up addition Susan.
It’s got to be a challenge to step up a design that is great to begin with. Love your style. Thanks for sharing
Both versions of your card are bright and fun! I agree with Susan S. in that it must be a challenge for you to one-up your own card!
Looking forward to seeing your sneak peeks in the next couple of weeks!
Cyberhugs!
Great stepped-up additions. A very clever idea to make the frame around your sentiment. I will try to remember this technique in the future. As always, thanks for the inspiration.
Thanks for the correction on the circles. I keep looking and looking at the two versions. As much as I like the layering and white dots – I think I like the first version the best – seems more clean and simple. I was really surprised at my decision. When I looked back it seems like the stepped version resembles a flower the way the circles line up around the sentiment and then a huge center to the flower. But, if I were to receive either card – I wouldn’t quibble! Normally I adore more matting and more green but not this time. Both are great cards though! I am still checking to make sure I don’t have that EF, stamp set or framelits. I do have both circle punches at least! The envelope is a toss up, I find a lot of people slice open the envelope therefore do they even notice that part?
Oh, I forgot in my yammering…I saw my neighbor who works at the post office yesterday. While she was petting Teddy I asked her if they ever notice decorative envelopes either at the post office itself or if when she is delivering the mail. She laughed and said they aren’t really suppose to take the time to look at them as they process them or deliver them but occasionally one just makes them smile and sometimes share it with a coworker. She said she saw me put one in the mail chute one day and could see it had something on it. She was gathering the mail to take it in and looked and she loved that I had stamped HAPPY BIRTHDAY across the bottom like you have done before. She said it made her day!
