Good Sunday Morning to you! I am starting to feel like myself….I do not know about you but when I am away and then I come home – I always feel like there are a ton of things that need to be done…but the reality is…they will be there so enjoy the journey!
I am so touched by the amount of comments that you all left on Friday's Post about the (2) things that are different than my normal style….it was sooooo fun to read the comments – you all are the best! Click here to see that post.
- what I did differently than I normally do??? = I ADDED (2) BOWS….many of you did get this!
- and why I did it??? = I DID IT BECAUSE AT THE MAKE & TAKE…THEY USED A STAPLER TO HOLD THE RIBBON AND VELLUM….and I am just not a "staple gal", who knows – maybe I'll have a change of heart but I just had to cover it up!
I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed reading your guesses….we need to do this again as it is wonderful to see and hear all of the different thoughts!
I hope that I did not offend anyone about not liking staples on a card as an anchor but I think staples should be for holding paper together….(I guess I am a bit old fashion and like I said, maybe I will see the light of this trend!)
This was soooo much fun…..kind of a scavenger hunt – and I just LOVE games! Thanks a bunch!
Let's get to the card today…you can see that I switched it up a bit and I must say – I love it! It is super clean, fun, fresh and I loved Friday's color…but I love this as well!
This should show you that it is fun to change up with color and you can create a totally different mood.
The mood totally is changed with the Mossy Meadow and the Real Red! To me, great Christmas colors to celebrate the season. I adore the simplicity and font of the sentiment, "Joy" is such a great word and means soooo much….a perfect touch!
This card would be a fabulous card to "mass produce" as is uses minimal product when you break it down and it goes super fast as I used punches for the circles….WOOT-WOOT – speed tools to the rescue!
Remember to break down your projects if you are going to make a bunch….one day cut your card stock and pop out the circles…next day you could do your stampin' and dashes and dots…hopefully you can see how you can break it down…that's what I do when I make up my monthly kits…this way it stays fun and you do not get stressed!
As I said in the photo…..I have a new product that I love…the Corrugated Paper, it comes in both Kraft and White and they are 12 X 12 pieces…(they are on page 148) and a little is the perfect touch. I just love the texture it gives and look, the piece is sooooooo thin and look at the impact it makes!
The Merry Moments Designer Series Paper was the perfect accent to make the envelop special! Plaids, Polka Dots and Stripes always make me smile and I think that this whole card make me happy. I do think using the tone on tone with the Christmas Trees works perfectly.
I know that vellum can be tricky to work with as you need to "hide" where your adhesive is…and just like the Corrugated Paper, a little goes a long way with the effect. The white gel pen works great on vellum, just remember that it needs to dry well so be patient!
I know that the weekend 2 day post was not here this weekend but I do think that this card today is "stepped up" from the card on Friday! True the card on Friday has the fun bling paper (I broke down and ordered some after making the make-n-take) and that is also why I decided to add it to the product share for the new catalog.
A little goes a long way…..enjoy the day and remember that tomorrow is the last day to take advantage of the weekly deals, you can click here to see the offerings but the great news is….on Tuesday we will get more new weekly deals!
Please do not forget that I offer a "rewards program" that will allow you to earn free stamp sets.Click here - Simple Stampin’ Paw Prints Rewards to see my Paws Rewards program and feel free to email me if you have any questions!
Enjoy the day…..I hope that you enjoyed this Holiday Card – until tomorrow!
Beautifully done! I really like both cards but agree this one is definitely a step up. You may have just sold me on the corrugated paper as well as this stamp set (I am a sucker for cool fonts). I will figure out which shares I would like and email you today.
P.S. I hope you are having a safe trip home!
Susan, what a cute card. You did a great job. You always make my day. I love the simplicity of this card. I liked both cards. I am glad you told us the mystery. Have a great day stamping. Ellen Hinds
Love this version Susan, I think the Mossy Meadow is warmer. I do not like staples on cards either. Great card. Glad you are home save and sound. Happy Sunday.
🙂
It was hard for me to get use to staples ,but once I did use the little ones I find them to be easy and very trendy . I like the font on the JOY… and I forget about that rich Mossy Meadow . I think it will be perfect to use on the new Evergreen trees in the new stamp sets. Cute card and some good creative idea triggers as always !
Great card today. Love this combination of more traditional colors. Agree with you about the staples. I don’t think you will ever see staples on my cards either. Am going to give Mossy Meadow another look as it seems richer than Old Olive.
Welcome home! Love your “stepped-up” version today! The color combo looks great together and I agree with you regarding the staples. You had the perfect solution to cover them up with ribbon or some other accessory. Enjoy your Sunday!
This is a lovely card, first card I have seen in a while that makes me want to make it. Thank you for sharing all of the details. I am getting ready to order the supplies, burst can not ding the narrow ribbon or the stamp set in the current catalog. Could you help me with this?
What size are the swatches in #1 and #6
Love your cards
A staple, I looked and looked and could not see if so that wasn’t quite fair for us out in cyber space! But, I agree with you and I would have covered it up or not stapled it to start with! You did cover it well!
That reminds me of a quick story – the group I used to belong to and was ousted out because I joined SU in thinking I could help with the off months when the demo didn’t want to demo so everyone could have a turn at hosting. Anyway, she had us use a staple to hold on a little banner piece. I sat there staring and gritting my teeth about it for 5 min. Then, I carefully used my scissors and pulled that darn staple out. I had two holes what to do? I had a safety pin in my purse and went to work on piercing the two lines down the banner from the staple holes! Luckily I had stapled my cross-wise so it was easy to piece on down. Those who stapled vertically didn’t have that option. It was funny, as soon as I had done that I had three others ask for my safety pin and did the same to their card!
I really like both cards and boy I want that ribbon! Love the corrugated strip of paper. I love the texture! I could easily use this set for part of my Christmas cards. Hey, Night of Navy or whatever it is and silver would make a pretty card for my Jewish friends as well! Leave off the J and we would have OY! Just kidding but I am really thinking this would make a fun birthday card too. How about soft sky and a silver and add one of the little snowflake charms to the bow (from last year since I hoarded mine)? I think this is what you call a “Go to set!”
I’m with you Susan – I just don’t think staples look good/appropriate on a nice handmade card. If it’s trendy, then I’m not. Keep on hiding those staples (or don’t use them at all)!
Hilarious…I thought I was the only one that did not like staples on a card! Won’t see one on mine either. Love this color combo and the ‘Susan dashes/dots’. Have a wonderful week…..bet Daisy Mae was happy to see you
That stamp set is growing on me more and more as I see it used. And you are such an enabler ?. Just got added to my list:)
Nice card! Great changes to the sample one. I didn’t even think of the staple because I didn’t put it on my card. I rolled glue dots and used them under the ribbon instead of stapling.
The corrugated paper is a fun touch. I like the glimmer paper in small doses, but the corrugated paper has such great texture and it makes a nice accent!
Cyberhugs!
I am with you about staples. To me, using the staple detracts from the end result. I want my cards to look more professional, not less.
