Thursday fun…and it is a color challenge this week! September is here (even though it still feels like summer) and when I hear "September" – I think of Back to School….Fall is around the corner….and I get SUPER excited to see leaves change their color!
I was doing the "happy dance" when this stamp set came out in June..WHY??? Well, it is beautiful and the detail work in the stamps is stunning and then when I saw that there were matching framelits….WOOT-WOOT – BUNDLE TIME!!!
Here is the palette that we are working with today and I hope that you can join the fun! Please pop over to the Pals Paper Art Website to see what the other designers came up with this week!
Let's get going….I have lots of pictures for you today and I am going to share with you some tips as when you look at this – it really is a simple card….(I think that I will do a video for you on this one as it is truly a fall festive card that was super fun to make!) This is just a regular A-2 size card…..good old = 4 1/4" X 5 1/2"~
Before we get to the tips…here you can see up close the bundle that I worked with today.
(The card I did yesterday, these framelits work with that stamp set that I used…Lighthearthed Leaves Stamp Set Yesterday I "fussy cut" the image but there is a framelit that I could have used…I wanted to show you how you can do either/or and it will work "just fine"!
- After I stamped the tone on tone I gave each leaf a good workout with the bone folder – I went back and forth in all directions to make the paper as soft and subtle as possible. This is key to get a great look, you can see how the naturally curl up!
- The scoring…SUPER FUN! I did the vertical one EVERY SCORE LINE and then I turned it and did it in that direction, EVERY OTHER!
- The sweet bow is from "pulling" threads apart from the Burlap Ribbon…this is one of my favorite effects to do especially in the fall.
- I simply cannot get enough of these "word sentiments" – "thanks" worked perfectly today but what I think makes it is…using the vanilla coaster board!
- Lets get to the beloved envelope! How about this! I thought, what the heck – give it a whirl and it worked. I simply took a piece of scrap Old Olive and scored away and adhered it just like I would normally do for DSP! Fun…..right!?!?
Well…thoughts my friends? Would you like me to do a video on this card? I think that this is a fantastic fall card and you could have sooooo much fun with using different colors and different sentiments. Wouldn't this make a fantastic masculine Birthday Card!
Many thanks for all of the great comments yesterday! You all make me smile and wowzers – you all are LOVIN' the new catalog and I am going to be LOVIN' sending you your goddies. Thank you….I deeply appreciate your vote of confidence in me. I truly love what I do!
Please think of me today, I am going to the Doctors and I am sooooo hoping that I can get this immobilizer off and get going…it is getting a "tad" old!
Please remember to check out the weekly deals, the clearance rack and use the hostess code of YHNMUJNJ and I will be happy to send you your embossing folder with the qualifying order! Enjoyt he day…make someone smile and I will see you tomorrow!
The lattice work using the scoring board is a beautiful background. WOW.

I agree with you, Susan. This IS a fantastic Fall card and would love a video too! I really think you have created a new embossing folder idea for Stampin Up to consider!!
so very perfect!! Great scoring to add texture to the background. You are so creative. I love reading your blog 🙂 The envelope is amazing!!!! Looking forward to watching the video for this one :>
What a good-looking card! Please make a video. Thank you.
Your leaves are gorgeous, but I’m really impressed with the scoring! I will have to dust off my Simply Scored and get my lines on!! Thanks, Susan!
Your card hit me like a ton of bricks – I thought (at first) that this was the brick wall EF. Then, I thought, as did Elisha, but thought oh no she wouldn’t do that but maybe someone gave her a new folder she thought she had to use. I peered closer and thought, “She shoots and she scores!” meaning you scored the whole thing! I am getting better at trying to figure all these things out rather than just right to the written details! This is my all time favorite card! Of course the color pallet helped with that. But all the details from curling the leaves to maybe a little sponging and then the burlap threads just brought it together. The matting further enhanced it. Be still my beating heart, well, Teddy and I just took a walk and we are still hot from the steamy weather – again, this is my favorite card and best one using this set I have seen! Feel free to slap a stamp on that lovely envelope and send this card my way!
Hope you have a safe trip to the doctor and get wonderful news.
Hey, is everyone E-mailing you their top 10 of your favorites – curious minds want to know and I need a little help as I have more than 10 of your favorites and need to narrow it down before posting.
Too beautiful Susan, classic Susan Itell card! Those leaves are gorgeous
and the embossing is just the right touch.
Dear Susan, your card is so beautiful. I love all the pretty scoring. The leaves are so wonderful. They pop right off the paper. Yes I would love for you to do a video of this card. Good luck today. I will keep you in prayer. Hugs, Ellen Hinds
Love the scoring!!! I thought it was an EF and wondering which one it was. Maybe SU will make one on your design.
Hoping by now you are finished with the MD and enjoying a nice celebration lunch somewhere. Praying you got a good report and the immobilizer is OFF!
🙂
What a beautiful card! I love Fall! Please make a video for all of us!
What a beautiful card! I love Fall! Please make a video for Us!
This is so beautiful!! I love, love, love all the texture!
That is a WOW card:). Love the whole thing, going on my “case” list?.
Really pretty ! This is such a beautiful set of leaves and you display them to perfection ! That background is fabulous ! You know I love your videos ….so looking forward to this one !!
Stunning card, Susan. The scoring provided the perfect backdrop. Off to pin….
Great Fall card Susan. Please do a video! Especially the scoring part. It just sets off the card.
I had to come back and visit this card until I have it up close and personal in my hands! HINT, HINT!
So, I have some things I came up with in no particular order: 1. Archival stamp pads and reinkers – black for sure! 2, Woodland EF 3. Fine tip glue pen. 4.Flurry of wishes stamp set and punch bundle. 5. Happy Haunting DP 6. If the Broom Fits stamp! 7. Light hearted leaves 8. Square Pillow box thinlits bundle. 9. Snow place bundle especially for that penguin. 10. Cup of Cheer matbe for the cup but I think you would get Festive Fireplace with the framelits and scenes as a big bundle instead.
You already have the set about the presents you got at convention so we can’t list that. I don’t think you could commit to one Christmasy DP pack either. But I didn’t get the Boo thinlet in here either. Let alone the snowing EF and the gold and silver cording. Now, I want to see your list and reasons why you picked such and such over such and such! I still could see you making those shaker cards that kit on pg 4 since you were so excited over the shaker Pumpkin Paper kit!
I know, maybe we needed to have 10 for fall and 10 for Christmas! Whatever you pick – we will love all the projects you make with the stuff!
Lastly, what did that darn doctor say! Inquiring minds want to know if not just his busy body!
Susan, this is absolutely beautiful!!
Another beautiful card. The scored background is wonderful. Another reminder why I am so glad I have the Simply Scored-such a versatile tool.
Those leaves look so real, like you plucked them off a tree. Such a gorgeous card! I love fall stuff! It makes me so happy.
What a beautiful card, especially the scored background which is perfect for the leaf design. Great creative juices flowing from you!
Susan, this is such a beautiful card. I had to come by your blog to see what embossing folder you used and I so surprised to see how you made the background. I just love everything about this project.
Wonderful card Susan! So many techniques to learn from this and so simple yet very effective. Your card is one of my most repined Pinterest projects recently, so I am highlighting your project on my blog today. TFS!
