Good Morning and here is a different take on yesterday's card! They both work… it comes down to time! Classic, clean and simple they are…but today's just take a bit more time with the addition of another layer of paper….(Tip Tip Taupe) and some quick stamping in the background!
You can click here to see yesterdays post and then look at them side by side and then you decide! Personally, I do not think that you would go wrong with either one.
One thing that I did not touch on so much yesterday was the precision plate. It is in the new catalog and my guess is that it will be carried over as it is a super addition to the Big Shot! It is meant to make it easier to get "more detailed" dies out.
It does that but please do not think that they fall out…BUT the thing that I love is that the cut is very, very clean, none of those "straggly" pieces that hang off and I simply use the paper piercing tool to do a quick "poke" – I love it and YES, I do think that it is worth the purchase!
You can see that I am using the Tip Top Taupe new In Color, something that I must admit that I have not used a tin but I do think that it is a great neutral that works with many color palettes! It works great with the Vanilla and I also used a small snowflake stamp to give a tone on tone effect!
The other switch was the colors of the background of the ornament…again, they both look great and I think it is totally a personal preference as to what you like….but you can easily see that this card can be made with a multitude of different color combinations!
Did you notice that I added a girls best friend = pearls!
The one thing that is a must (in my opinion) is the vanilla coaster board – this adds that extra special touch that make people look at it and say…..how did she do that! It is all about the "staples" that we have (besides the stamps, paper and ink) that make the whole journey work! (I call them secret weapons)
I chose to do the same thing for the envelope today as I think that it is super clean and classic. One think that I do suggest when you use a super dark paper like this is to use the entire framelit. Usually I do a "short change" and cut my paper to 3" X 6" and then use the envelope framelit.
I think when you are using card stock and also when it is super dark like this one….it is important to line the entire envelope so you do not see a "line/seam" where the "cut off" piece is. Again, just my thoughts but I think it does make a difference .
There you go, another fun weekend post. I hope that you are having a fabulous weekend and I am looking forward to a productive week ahead! Please remember that tomorrow is the last day for you to take advantage of the weekly deals……I am placing my order for some Fast Fuse refills….I love a deal – how about you?
Until tomorrow…please have a great day and make someone smile – trust me, you will smile instantly!
I love the stepped up version. Has that “wow” factor.
Although both are beautiful, I tend to gravitate to the simpler version this week.
🙂
I love both but I think I love the stepped up version…. Very classy looking. Have a great day and until tomorrow. BYE
Both are classy and beautiful! I like the subtle effect the tone on tone snowflake gives and, of course, the pearls wow it! Thanks for the envelope liner tip too…tips are always welcome. Enjoy this beautiful day!
Both are so lovely … for sure! My favorite is the Saturday version … it is just “simply” elegant! 😉
Both cards are great; they’re classics for sure. Can’t decide which one is my favorite this week. 🙂
Love both…Simple Saturday is still favorite, I like the way the gold stands out on the ornament.
Though I love the tone on tone snowflakes on the Tip Top Taupe – I think I would like that better with a tree design maybe. I think I like the plain vanilla (thank goodness I am not talking ice cream here – I gotta have my chocolate) background which showcases the regal ornament! I like the gold in the center of the ornament too but maybe the pearls or rhinestone in the center of the Saturday card wouldn’t compete with the simplicity. Actually, I like the way the cutout detail of the ornament shows the vanilla rather than the taupe too. Did you make the cap to the ornament on today’s in a different color or is it my monitor? All in all, I think I prefer Saturday’s but side by side I would tweak some stuff on both and then I would love both equally. I know, weird!
I still think a video showing how the precision plate cuts cleaner and the use of the coasterboard stuff would be a great visual in addition to your great photos! Notice I am not doing the work on all these suggestions!
Both cards are wonderful!!!
Two beautiful cards Susan. I think I’d go with yesterday’s card. It shows off the ornament better.
Susan, both are beautiful cards. Each one has its merits. It is difficult to choose my favorite. Both are great.
I really like both. What is vanilla coaster board? I love the dimension it gives. Awesome job and thanks so much for sharing.
This is an incredible card – especially love the colours
