Today is a super special day at our home…it is John’s birthday and being out of Tax Season is the best gift he could be given plus we are to have great weather so that is an added plus. We are going to go to lunch with him Mom (she is doing great) so it will be a nice day!
In keeping with the LET’S USE UP OUR DSP…..here is a great card that would make any Birthday special! This layout would also be super-de-duper with any DSP and any sentiment! Remember…POP OUT OF THE BOX and stretch yourself….I believe in you…I know you can do it!
I have a parade of pictures for you and I hope that it inspires you to use up your DSP and make a fun layout like this! Here is a tip…you do not have to worry about being perfect with matching up the pieces…you can use the sliver of paper (tip top taupe) is what I used….and this creates a balance if there are any boo-boo’s….YOU SEE…I even like to teach you tricks!
You know how I feel about bakers twine...BUY IT…if it is on clearance…BUY IT….why? 1st – it is super affordable and 2nd, it creates a great effect…each and every time. I like using glue dots to hold it in place….works line a charm!
I have shared this with you before, I probably never purchased Bakers Twine for my 1st couple of years with Stampin’ Up! and once I took the plunge….I learned, it is a card makers friend as it not as bulky as other ribbons!
I anchored the bakers twine with a dimensional and then anchored the ends with a glue dot. Then…I added to bow over top. Again, I hope that you see that this is a simple way to make a WOW happen fast!
Now look at this beauty….one classic card! Look at the envelope liner framelits…..I am STILL SCRATCHING MY HEAD why they are being retired….I adore them and I think they are the “icing on the cake” – I will continue to use them and I highly recommend that if you do not have them…you need them.Simple as that!
Here is you picture to Pin to keep for future reference. We all love Pinterest and it is so easy to keep the cards you like in one place!
In the products below you will see that I showed the BUNDLES for this…..true you can purchase them not as a bundle but I would do the bundle. It is being retired. If you think that you would not use the stamp set a bunch, then I would just purchase the party punches – theses are fantastic and I do not understand why they are leaving. (They would be great in shaker cards)
Remember….you can click the shop now button and then you will see the retired goodies right there…..See you tomorrow…..we have some chatting to do!!!
One of my most favorite cards ever!!!
I like the way you used the DSP and the layout of the card. Definitely doing this! I agree about bakers twine….so easy to work with and always adds the right touch on a card. Happy birthday to John! Enjoy and have a fun-filled day!
This is a great card, Susan! I will be trying this one with some of the many packs of DSP I have been hording. I love all of the ways you have been helping us with ideas to use it up.
Happy Birthday to John!! Today also happens to be my husband’s birthday. I have to call him later and sing to him the Beatles song “When I’m 64” since he is 64 today 🙂
Really cute card to celebrate John’s birthday. I know he will like it. I’m loving all the ways you are showing us to use up our DSP. I definitely have too much. Who doesn’t? Enjoy your day.
Good Morning! Happy Hump Day and Happy Birthday to John. Enjoy your day, your lunch and yes . . . the weather. I too love this card and the many ways you have been nudging us to use up our DSP.
🙂
Love this one, Susan! Amazing how all those patterns look so good together!
First and foremost, happy birthday wishes to John!! It sounds like you have a wonderful day planned. Next, I love this layout and the use of DSP. My plan today is to make my card for your swap and I have definitely been inspired by your “use your DSP” posts lately. Have a great day!
Happy Birthday to John! Yesterday I received my medication via UPS and in the box was a card from the manufacturer that read, “:Do something silly!” So, John why don’t you try eating your dessert first at lunch today instead of the regular route! They send little notes like that to remind you to enjoy life a little.
The card is plain fun I love the grounding strips of the TTT in between the blocks – just that little bit really ties it all together including the baker’s twine. I love the thick stuff! The balloons were so unexpected and just a great fun touch to add to the card! Fun choice of colors too.
I think I might have to play with some DP today or something. If whatever is a little “whopper jawed” I can always blame it on the eye surgery! Maybe I had better work on that swap card now!
Enjoy your day with your family!
Happy Birthday, John! As Chris R says “do something silly” (like taking a pig for a walk perhaps?). I have saved this card image because I plan on CASEing the heck out of it very soon. Thanks, Susan!
Happy Birthday, John! What fun!
I love this card and can see it in so many colors and designs and love the tip to use the strips over the cuts. I was surprised Party Wishes is retiring–thought it’d have a good, long shelf-life! Must be lots of good stuff replacing it!
HAPPY, HAPPY, BIRTHDAY JOHN!!! I hope you’re having a GREAT day!
I also love this card. I really like the multi-prints together and love the balloons.
Such a festive card! I’m a big fan of baker’s twine. I got some baker’s cording once; it is thicker and not as nice (avoid it). I have a friend who uses the envelope liners and then uses just a wee bit of removeable tape to keep it in place. She says that way the recipient can gently remove it and use the DP if they so desire. I thought that was cool.
How was lunch Birthday Boy? Hope it is a great memory (soooo late here). We flew to Nashville yesterday and are vacationing for the next week on The Farm in Summertown, TN with our daughter. Internet is sporadic here…yes it seems there are still places that don’t get internet! I will be quietly watching and reading this week from here….when I can. Really like today’s card!!! Colors and the layout speaks to me!!! This is a keeper!
You always make such lovely cards!
With regards to the envelope liners, they also retired the square envelopes that coordinate with the smallest of the envelope liners. Maybe they will have a package with only the liners that match the current envelopes. That’s just a guess, though.
Love it! Do you have any measurements for the layers you could share? Please? TKU
