Happy Sunday to all of most favorite readers in the world….YOU!!! Before we get to the post today I want to say, WOW…I just adore, cherish and really have to pinch myself at times when I read your comments. WHY? – because it is clear that we are a community…one big group of great individuals that truly have a heart and care.
I love the well wishes that we send to each other and it is also clear that we all care….and to me that is so important. I do not know about you…but I can say that there is so much “stuff”…”negativity”…technology overload…I could go on and on but it are these reason that I love what I do – SIMPLE HANDMADE KINDNESS…it does matter and I thank you for popping onto my blog and making my heart pitter-patter!
Ok. – enough…..let’s get to this card!!! I always ask my best friend and favorite critic ~ John….which one he likes better….I will let you know at the end of the post (no peeking) 😀
I am also going to give you the dimensions of this card as I think that you can clearly see that this layout….(aka – a formula) can be used for soooooo many cards…so here you go!
- A-2 Vertical Card in Very Vanilla (5 1/2″ X 4 1/4″)
- Navy layer is 5 1/4″ X 4″
- The DSP is 2 1/2″ X 4 1/2″
- The Very Vanilla piece that I stamped on is 2″ X 4″
- The Cherry Cobbler piece is a smidge bigger 2 1/8″ X 4 1/8″ (I know…I know…..some of you do not like making odd cuts but I say….go for it – IT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
For today….I took the Very Vanilla piece and score it every 1/2″ – darn I wish that you could see it in person as it is stunning (if I must say so myself) The textures from this and then the POP up of the stamped piece is really special!
Again, this is a card that you could use for so many occasions. It is so clean and classic, just the way I love my cards to be. I invite you to look at your stampin’ stash and see what works for you. I think that you can see that this stamp set….even if you just like this great vase/flowers…is a card that you will make over and over and guess what – it will always be the keeper that you first found it to be!
I think that this DSP fooled many….because of it big and bold prints but when you “flip them over”….wow – there you go….another great print…and I was thrilled to see that Chris noticed that Cherry Cobbler hasn’t had that much love lately – I adore this color and it is a color that we can use all year long!
I know that it is hard to see the scoring in the picture above but trust me, it is great! My vote is for today’s card…..and Johns vote is for yesterdays card as he liked the boldness of the Navy. I adore Navy but I think that I am getting the best of the both worlds in today’s card!
I think that is the “icing on the cake” is the envelope…I love it when it works out to stamp the outside of the envelope to work with the card! The way that I look at it is….you already have your stamp out….the ink out – so I say. “Why not”!????
Taking a couple of extra minutes does make a difference for not only YOU (which to me is most important as I think that we are too hard on ourselves) but the recipient and the mail man will smile. Really, REALLY BIG!
Enjoy the day and tomorrow will be another day to share with you how you can use that DSP….A goal for me and I hope that a goal fro you…because you will LOVE the new papers.

Yesterday’s card is my favorite of the two. However, I do like the scoring on today’s card. So I would probably emboss the navy layer with the Brick Wall EF or another EF. Thanks for sharing your creativity.
My favorite is also yesterday’s version …
I love Night of Navy. Sometimes I ask my husband what he likes or doesn’t about a card that I am designing. It’s nice to have another set of eyes! Thanks, Susan, for both of these lovely cards!
Both cards are very nice, but I agree with John, Kathy and Suzie that yesterday’s card is my favorite. It is nice to see how different details add to a card. I love the scoring on today’s card. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
I really like both cards….hard to choose. They each have a wow factor for me. But a double wowzers on your scoring technique on today’s card! Awesome! Have a fun day!
I like them both but I think I like today’s card better. The scoring of the lines makes it look so different and I like white space! Thanks for the measurements too!! Have a wonderful Sunday!!
They are both striking in their own way..gorgeous! Love is scoring mixed with the DSP. Bravo!
I have to agree my favorite is yesterday’s! But both of them are awesome as always! Thanks for sharing…I had to go an order that set so I can duplicate it.
My vote is for today’s card. Love the scored lines. Clean and classic…my kind of card! Thanks for the inspiration.
I also like both cards but am leaning toward today’s version. I really like your extra scoring lines on the white space. Thanks for more fun and inspiration!!
I have looked and looked but for the life of me I can’t see the scoring. At any rate, I most definitely like yesterday’s card the best. That navy is so strong and lovely. Sigh. I could just sit and look at that card all day.
It makes me want that set but I have SO many flowers already…just can’t justify it in my head.
Will say some prayers for you Chris — I hope your coming surgery will be successful. You will be all set to enjoy the beautiful lushness of an Iowa spring.
Thanks Susan for the measurements of your card. The layout is great. I am still loving just sitting here enjoying yesterday’s card!! It is ahh worthy.
I was Right, Susan! I guessed that John would love yesterday’s card better and he did, but then so do I. I just love seeing more of the navy color, that’s all. I’m not really into light colors unless there are darks to off set them. Navy is such a classic, and you can never go wrong when you use it. Beautiful cards using the retired stamp~
I swear I am going to get splinters in my butt and legs – thank goodness I rarely ever wear shorts! It’s just little ol’ me sitting on the fence trying to decide which I like the best. All that white makes me a little nervous but the scoring took care of that and I love the scoring on the card plus that navy mat. Yesterday’s card is so rich and vibrant – almost dramatic with all that Night of Navy!
Tonilea, thanks for the well wishes and prayers. The surgeon and anesthesiologist are the best so I am a little less nervous this time. The rate the tulips are blooming now, there will be less for the festival in 1 1/2 weeks. Oh, and the third photo shows the scoring – see if you can enlarge – it is worth it!
Great cards even though I can’t decide which is my favorite – like they say, “It’s all good!” I have a piece of Cherry Cobbler out for some flowers and I can’t wait to see how it pairs with the new green!
Love both cards, but my vote goes with John’s choice. Just love the vase. I actually bought it a couple of years also and never used it. You have inspired me to change that! Have a great Sunday.
Thanks Chris. I was on my Kindle when I looked at today’s card and couldn’t see the embossed lines so I have had a second look as you suggested and sure enough — easy to see in the third photo. (am on the desktop computer now) That does up the ante on today’s card but I still am infatuated with yesterday’s. Something about it has grabbed me and doesn’t want to let go!!!
Dear Susan: I don’t know how you keep all this creativity going! I love both cards for different reasons and see lots of ways and stamps to “CASE” your great layout. You are a jewel!!!! Chris….I wish you the very best on your upcoming surgery….I always get a chuckle out of your comments. Nancy
Susan, I love both cards also. I really love the card you made yesterday. I think it is the navy it caught my eye right away. I love all the scoring on today’s card. As always you do a great job. Chris I also love all your comments. I get a chuckle out of them. God luck with your upcoming surgery. Ellen Hinds
That Night of Navy really adds a great feel to yesterday’s card and the scoring on today’s card adds great texture. Good thing I can love both and not have to choose a favorite!
