Happy Hump Day! I have a shaker card for you today that I hope will make you smile! My oldest “peep” is home this week and I am being THE BIGGEST SPONGE and taking it all in! He is the one that lives in Boston that is a Montessori Teacher and this year he has 15 ducklings!
“Mr Llama is back” – Is it Larry, Liam, Lawrence……whatever – he is ADORABLE!
One of his friends from college just had a bouncing baby boy and I naturally HOPPED on it to say, “Can I make you a card” – With that…I knew that it could not be too frilly…so here you go!
It was SUPER fun and SUPER rewarding to make! I was so excited to make it and I hope that you find the pictures and the collage to be a help! Please feel free to email me or leave a comment if you need additional help!
What is on today’s agenda – PLAY TIME in my CRAFT AREA….(I admit, he is not so excited but I sure am) – I told him that we are going to make all sorts of goodies for his ducklings….stay tuned as I will blog about it!
Here are some tips that I think will help you! The Hearth and Home thinlits are perfect to make a shaker card and there are so many stamps that you could use to put behind the window….
- The Embossing buddy – if you run that over the Window Sheet before you adhere is and also try to run it against the side of the foam adhesive….it will help eliminate the static of the “shaker parts”
- Having the right adhesives are key. I know, I know – there are a lot of adhesives out there, but having the ones that I have used will make the whole process easier!
- The tear & tape works great with this (T & T) on the above captions….and when I cut the T & T in 1/2 to make a thin strip to fit this framelit, it was really easy and it did the trick!
I think that this DSP is PERFECT for this card, it gives a great feel for a simple yet super FUN card but when you shake it – WOW happens! Shaker cards sre HOT right now and they are really very easy – to me, I say you just have to dive in and give it a try. I was very happy with the end result!
Here is the “low down” on the card. I admit, I truly hope that Stampin’ Up! comes out with thick Very Vanilla Card Stock, this is why I mounted the DSP against a an extra piece of vanilla card stock…I like the extra support!
Have a fabulous day…..remember that my Product Share are available (click at the top header of my blog) and I am excited for the new catalog to be unveiled for YOU on my blog…..just less than 2 weeks – we can hang in there!
Yesterday I sent out a confirmation to those that requested a product share….if you did NOT receive one yesterday, please email me so I can make sure you are on the list.
Wish me luck with my peep today – I am in HOG HEAVEN (sorry Daisey) but I am hoping that he will get as excited as I am…..I am envisioning lots of 3-D’s….lots of cards for parents….I am just happy! :-
Susan, you have definitely made a WOW card today. This is such a fun card. As we all know, new baby cards are usually kept for years and this one is a keeper for sure. I love the DSP, the window with Mr. Llama behind in the shaker. Truly a cute, fun card. I’m sure your son is having a great time with the ducklings.
YIPPEE – I am glad you like it. It was super fun to make…I encourage everyone to try to make a shaker card, I know that they seem “scary” but they really are fun!!! Thanks for popping in….
So adorable and fun! Mr. Llama is so cute peeking behind the window. Great job! Enjoy you day with your peep?
Thanks….to bad he is not a sheep….if so – I am sure he would be heading North to New Jersey!
Loving this card!!!!! I am playing catch up as my youngest peep sleeps in and I am doing my darndest to be quiet. Just read Tuesday’s Tip which has me making plans to visit Walmart (don’t love it either) and now I have a great way to use my coupon for BB&B!!!! You and Jennifer Maguire keep me busy!!!!!! I love her too!
So, back to this adorable card…..I laughed out loud when I saw the llama in the window!!! He is going to make the recipient smile for sure. I really didn’t think I would purchase that set…..but how can I not??? I would not have thought of using him on a baby card but it is so darn cute!!!! Thanks Susan! Enjoy your day big!!!!?
Oh what fun ! Love Shaker Cards and this one is absolutely adorable ! That dsp background really adds to this cute scene .
Great baby card !.
Enjoy your PEEP !
SHAKE it SONNY…….I am having a blast and lovin’ every moment with Will.
What an adorable card! That llama makes me llaugh every time!! I think of him when I see the Marco Polo commercial on TV! Lol! Thanks for the tip with the embossing buddy – I will definitely try it! Enjoy your time with your peep! Can’t wait to see what you two conjure up:-)
YES – I think of him as well with that commercial – I need to find it and add it to a post the next time “Mr. Llama” makes and appearance!
I hope you share with us all the fun things you make for your son to take back to Boston. This card definitely made me smile. It isn’t too mushy so just right for a male to give the new parents. The llama’s expression just quacks me up (sorry the ducklings brought it out) he looks like he is smiling and the peek-a-boo is just too funny with him peeking through the window! I love it! Well done!
YOU “QUACK” me up……check in tomorrow!
Love it! How perfect for a guy to give!
I agree – sometimes it is hard to find something that is not too mushy!!!! Thanks for popping in!
Cute how! I’m loving shaker cards, too, now that SU! has made it so easy. TFS!’
AGREE – LOVE the thin foam adhesive, makes you do a happy dance!!!!
This card really turned out so cute. You are so creative. TFS
Thanks Barb – try a shaker card…they really are fun!
How much is that llama in the window? How much is that llama for sale?! hee hee CUTE card and I love the llama in the window idea. The fact that it is a shaker card is just the sprinkles on top of an already fabulous cake!
Let’s sing….”Who’s that Llama in the window….the Llama looking at me!!!!!” Thanks for making me smile – you should be getting something from me that will make you smile!
