Here you go, I stepped up version from yesterdays card. I still used all of the same products but today I added the burlap ribbon. I know that some of us find it hard to use DSP as a focal part to a card (especially when you really like it as we treat it like gold) but I hope that you can see that it makes a HUGE POP!
This fun new Fall Stamp Set is versatile and it is fun to play with color. Both cards are great but when you see them side by side you can clearly see that adding the POP of DSP makes a statement and also coloring the leaves adds instant depth.
Here is a tip when working with Burlap ribbon and wanting to keep it straight. I use fast fuse all of the time and I anchored the ribbon to the back of the olive strip BUT THEN also add glue dots under the part of the stamped part. This ribbon has a tendency to “wiggle” and this helps keep it nice and straight.
You can see that I scored on the sides of the stamped part, just 1 notch in but just that simple touch adds! As you can see, I love paper…and I think that layering paper adds so much interest and many times you are using scraps…so it is a win-win!
We all know that Fall is full of many colors. I was happy that this turned out the way it did. Below you will see some tips and tricks that made this tree come to fall bloom. Remember, nature has many colors….no two cards will be the same so just have fun playing!
That simple little stamp of grass is going to be handy for many different cards we will make. It is super easy to use and I love the fact that it is “short in size” as that makes it easy to and to add shading etc….
One more look at the Fall fun card. I adore Fall and yesterday was a BEAUTIFUL day and all of a sudden the weather was much cooler, the humidity was down – starting to feel like Fall is around the corner! I’ll take it….I just love the splendor of colors!
Here is your 411 version – pin for the future….this will come in handy and we all seem to love Pintrest! ( I just wish there were more hours in the day to paly around with it – you can find just about everything!
Here is the “low down on this card” – I truly hope that you will case these cards – the layout it classic!
- Base is Very Vanilla 5 1/2″ X 4 1/4″
- The DSP (today) or the Very Vanilla (yesterday) is 5 1/4″ X 4″
- The Very Vanilla Sentiment Piece is 3″ X 3 3/4″ (scored the sides 1 notch in)
- The Cajun Craze (today) and Old Olive (yesterday) Mat is 3 1/8″ X 3 7/8″
- The Old Olive Mat today is 3 1/4″ X 4″
- The Old Olive Strip of paper is 1″ wide with the ribbon on top!
Enjoy the day, shop in your jammies, make memories, have fun and be safe and always remember, you do make a difference!

Today’s card is stunning, Susan. I love the colors and how you stepped it up with a large piece of DSP, more layers and the burlap ribbon. Very, very pretty. Have a super Sunday!
I LOVE the stepped up version. I do the exact same thing with my burlap ribbon and it works great. Thanks for sharing the dimensions. I think the layout is “keeper”. Hugs, Michelle
I adore this card – absolutely PERFECT! Wishing you and yours a fabulous weekend and hope Hannah and you were able to get in some barn time! xoxo
Thanks for popping in and YES….we had some GREAT BARN TIME….when I go to the barn where her trainer is…I feel like I am in another world, it is peaceful and it is filled with amazing people that love animals and just simply love life – I call it my HAPPY PLACE….
She will be leaving today but we are going to go and “cob web” our barn and get it cleaned up this morning!I have treasured having her home.
Just when I thought it could not get any better…. I LOVE today’s stepped up card! Love the DSP!!! Thanks!
Thanks Ramsey….now it is time for you, Jeannie and I to find a day to stamp, laugh and chat!
Wow…today’s card is a gorgeous fall scene! Love how you added the DSP and burlap. The leaves falling down is a great touch. Thanks for the burlap tip, too. Have a crisp Sunday.
That darn ribbon sometimes has a mind of its own so I do my best to keep it snug….we all know that we don’t like “sagging” – even if it is on a card!!!!
I love this stepped up version – the DSP and burlap ribbon are great finishing touches.
Thanks Lynn….I will say when you have a DSP that YOU REALLY LIKE it sometimes is hard to use it in a big space but it does make a difference. We are very blessed to have such great choices with our papers!
I never get tired of your tips, tricks and beautiful cards!!!! Great fall card, I adore this time of year and your card captures that beautiful fall feeling. Hope your weekend is going great!! Enjoy!!!!
Awe, you made me smile. The way that I look at it – why not share…if it helps others it makes me happy. I love fall and this card made me smile as well!
Awesome card! Thank you for your inspiration and enjoy the weekend!
You are sooooo welcome – I should be the one saying – THANK YOU for popping in….I deeply appreciate your comments!
What an awesome card–both of them, but I agree– the DSP on today’s with the burlap is my favorite too. Love the colors on the tree. Thanks for the dimensions and all the tips. This is a keeper! Have a great weekend. Thanks for sharing some of it with us!
I adore this burlap ribbon and I am so happy that Stampin’ Up! decided to make it this width! Remember, you can also cut it and use the strands to make accents or bows. It does give a different texture than the linen thread! I hope that you are having a great holiday weekend!
Love this one the most ! I love Fall and your precious tree is perfect especially with the dsp you used today .
I agree with Ann L. ….love your tips ,tricks and techniques always !
Happy Sunday !
I am totally with you….I ADORE FALL and I will say that our weather has been fantastic over this weekend…..feeling like Fall as it has been much cooler. Hope that you are ok with the storm and that your weekend was a great one!
Great card today too! You always offer such wonderful inspiration. Thank-you.
Thanks Sharon, you and your side kicks are always instant inspiration and smile makers to me!
I guess I will pick today’s version for all the cool layers and that scoring plus the colors. I love that paper, isn’t that pattern called houndstooth? Thanks for the tips on the burlap ribbon. I guess I will eventually have to break down and get the fast fuse stuff. The grass and leaves are fun too. Where have Tricia and Caleb been? I miss their comments! Continued well wishes for Catherine Ann’s son.
Yes, you are right…it i called houndstooth! (funny name) – Now I warn you my friend…there is a learning curve and also a throwing accross the room thing that seems to happen with Fast Fuse but once you get it….it is a great friend!
You are soooooo right – I need to check in with Tricia and Caleb….
Thanks for your continued thoughts for my friend – he is doing great, truly a miracle and the whole process is amazing with what doctors can do.
Great card. I can think of a ton of great sentiments to put across the bottom.
Now this is what I LOVE TO HEAR – YES…..you are on the right track….make up a simple card like this, leave off the sentiment and then when you need a card – PRESTO…stamp and go!
I don’t quite understand how you made the leaves on this one but I like how they turned out. Overall I can’t say I have a preference for either card. I might try to make something similar with Trendy Trees. I’m having on of those days where everything I made is off for whatever reason. Maybe it is time to step back and copy a few things.
Hi Judy….look at the comment I left on Pam’s comment. Hopefully that will help! I hear you…I HEAR YOU about getting in a creative rut….I was DEEP IN THE TRENCHES last week and I just simply turned off the lights in my craft area and walked away.
I adore both versions! Great to that the surgery went well 🙂 Question on making the leaves the colors they are vs the brown trunk, branches…how is it possible? Markers? Do they stamp that well? I thiught they don’t work with photopolymer.
Hmmmm…let’s see if I can explain this –
1. – I stamped the tree in the Soft Suede
2. – I inked up the “leaves image” with Old Olive and then I took the other colors with the a sponge dauber and tap-tap-tap randomly (actually there is not a huge area to do this as the stamp is not too big) so the POP of colors was not super dynamic because of the space but it worked.
I think that “it worked” with this photopolymer because of the size of it – I have not tried it with a larger stamp but I feel confident that it would work!
WOW Susan. What changes! I thought yesterday’s was beautiful. This step-up version is gorgeous too. I like the layers a lot.
?
Thanks Nancy, When it comes down to it – PAPER really makes a difference. You know that I am very basic but I do adore using paper as I find it to be not only effective but also an easy way to make a card pop!
