Hippity – hoppity…..it is Thursday and wow – wasn’t it a great blog hop yesterday!?!? If you have not had a chance to HOP…I highly suggest that you do so, lots of great ideas ~ here was my post. Today we have a sketch challenge to work with and I was feeling “sweet” with my interpretation of Beth Beards great sketch!
This is one of those “keepers” as I like to refer to it…and I would copy this sketch for future card! I took one look at this sketch and PRESTO – I knew exactly waht I wanted to do!
My main goal for this card was to use ribbon…why?????? Easy = whenever I hear Beth Beards name…I smile as she makes the most amazing bows that I have ever seen, they always seem perfect, soft and they just work! My ribbon today is PLAIN JANE….but I will say I love it!
I wanted to give you a tip on how I did it so it stays nice and flat. If you follow my blog, you already know that I enjoy using fun foam at times to lift up larger parts of a cards and today I cut a thin strip (about 1/2″ wide) and adhered it with fast fuse. It worked great, still soft like a ribbon but it has a statement. If you are not a fan of Fast Fuse (you should really give it a try), I would use tear and tape – you need a strong adhesive to make it lay flat! (hope that this makes sense)
Does this below stamp set just scream Christmas!?!?! I think that the font is just fabulous. I hope that we have more sentiments in the future in this font – it is fun and easy to read! The sky is the limit for this set. It will make super tags…and I already have another card that you will be seeing with the little shapes!
Another tip….as it is practically impossible for you to see but I “CUT THE SQUARE OUT” before I ran it through the Big Shot with the Sparkle Embossing Folder. In person, it looks super as it is all very flat and then the ribbon just lays nice and flat!
The sentiment was heat embossed with white, always gives a clean and crisp look and did you notice….I used my discontinued friends, the white marker. I just could not resist as I think it adds the perfect compliment to the whole card!
Here is your picture for the future! Save it – Pin It….just keep it for future reference! I hope that this “sweet card” can get you starting to think about the holidays! YIKES, yesterday it was over 90 and today we are to be in the 70’s….crazy!!!!
As I have said many times, I find it hard to get in the Holiday Card making mode when it is sooooooo hot….but then I know what happens – THAT CALENDAR!!!
I also confess…I had fun in the clearance rack…..(sometimes a stamper has to do what a stamper needs to do)….BUY GOODIES!!!! I know that many of you were on the same shopping spree that I was on and I thank you for your support!
I am super excited for today as I get to bring Stanley (Hannah’s horse) back to our house! He was leased out for the summer and now he deserves to come home and let me spoil him!!!! Oscar will be happy to have a friend and I can hardly wait to see the 2 of them turned out together tonight in the field (a beautiful and peaceful sight that makes my heart pitter -patter)
Until tomorrow!
Such a sweet card and I adore the use of the retired white pen….. a perfect touch!
Oh I love that card and I absolutely love those mints! The card is very bright and cheery!
Stanley coming home . . . another sign the summer is over. Is Stanley the one who had his leg in a bucket a few months ago? I hope he is doing better.
🙂
Super sweet card! (no pun intended) I saw so many cards on the hop yesterday that I spent a lot of time there, more than I intended. One thing seems to lead to another online and it is easy to get caught up in it. Thanks for the great formula, you are so right….it’s another one to keep for future use! Have a fun day and enjoy your barn buddies getting together!!?
Oh Susan, me too ! I love love this stamp set font ! Just had to have it and I think with some precise cutting I can use it after Christmas !!
Welcome home Stanley ! Wonder if he gets homesick when he is away ? Glad he`s back ! Take pictures of these two BFF s . Would love to see them !
I agree! The Hop yesterday was one of the best I’ve seen. I’m so honored to be able to participate with all these wonderful crafters. This card is so cute! I love the images and font on this set as well. And I never would have thought to put foam under the ribbon! What a great tip ~ Thanks!
Welcome home Stanley! I bet he can’t wait to see Oscar. You card is so cute….love the tip for the ribbon. Thanks, Susan, and have a happy day!
Sweet card today. Love the warmth of the brown & red together.
Fun card Susan. Love all the special touches!
Oh Stanley’s breath will be kissingly sweet with all these sweet treats. Speaking of sweet, your card is just that! I love that candy cane and gingerbread man paper. I will check out the hop later……I bet it is a good one. Hugs, I have missed you all, darn internet!
Too cute! Glad Stanley is back!
Aww…. your card is so sweet, and that’s just the best word for it. I’m impressed with the ribbon usage and your using that designer paper. That pattern flummoxes me what you would do with it, but you nailed it! Welcome home for Stanley!
Cute card, Susan. I love your gel pen work around the sentiment. That font is great. Welcome home, Stanley. We’ve missed your pictures.
So cute, Susan! I must get that ribbon!
Ahhhhhh, Ok, now I need that ribbon!!! Love the card Susan! Send Stanley and Oscar pictures!!! Oscar? I missed who Oscar is!
I don’t know where my head is. We looked at your blog right away this morning (like usual) but since we were running a little late I figured I’d come back and make my comment later. I forgot until now. Sorry! There is just too much “stuff” to get caught up on. Oh well, better late than never. Susan, your card is adorable. I’m not a big ribbon person but I did purchase this Real Red ribbon because I thought it would be gorgeous with Christmas packages. I love the stamp set too! I’m glad your “horse buddies” are back together again! See you tomorrow. 🙂
Definitely sweet!
Darling Susan! Wishing you a sweet season too!
Adorable! And I LOVE those mints!
