Good Sunday to all….can you say EASY-PEASY?!?! 🙂Â
I need to be honest, I feel like I am in a “creative blue”. Friday was just a L O N G day and I simply did not have the energy to blog yesterday. Friday was Bud’s funeral and naturally I was sad, but it was a beautiful tribute filled with “joy” (darn, I love that word…so short yet so powerful)
Being in that “creative low” for me…I decided to make a “blue” monochromatic card for you! When in doubt…pull it out! What am I talking about? I find that when I am in a “creative block mode” I go to stamp sets that always seem to pick me up and just “work” 😀Â
This stamp set, Watercolor Words….does that to me EVERYTIME….(it should be called old faithful) and I also decided to play with the Freshly Made Sketches this week as it is one great sketch!

When you look at the pictures you can see…1 stamp set (watercolor words), 1 Ink Color (night of navy), 1 DSP (Floral Boutique) and it works! There is no need to stress (yikes, look who is calling the kettle black as I have been in a slump) I used the Aqua Painter and took some ink from the top of the lid of the ink pad to lightly add color.
Do not be afraid to keep things simple like I did today. It works and the variety of colors that you could use are endless. I happen to think that the DSP, Floral Boutique is as classic as it can ever get! I think that there are times that we look at papers and say (for example)Â – “flowers are not blue” like this….but throw those concepts out the window – we all seem to overthink things…just try it!
I adhered the larger flowers (after paper snipping them out) with “green glue” and then POPPED the entire sentiment and flowers up…that ALWAYS adds the instant WOW.
Fast, easy, classic and FUN! What are you up to today? I hope that whatever you do, “joy” is in it. I am having a workshop with Jeanie and doing the Tin of Cards Kit. I know that there are going to be instant smiles when they get to go home with 16 cards….WOW!!!!!
After the workshop I am planning to come home and start to open up the Card Swap Cards. I know that it is funny that I do not “sneak a peek” because I know if I do – nothing would get done…as you all are soooo darn talented!
Remember, jammie shopping is always on trend…..HIT that paw print and have FUN!

LOVE this simple and classic card – You are so right that it just works! Hope you are feeling better soon – It is so hard to lose someone who is so special and I send my heartfelt thoughts and prayers to you. Have a super Sunday!
I’m still on vacay but decided to update myself with the stamping world. I’m so sorry to hear about Bud….my thoughts and prayers are with you. I agree, joy is a powerful yet simple word. Your “blue” card is beautiful….very soft with the sentiment saying it all. Hugs to you my friend.
Dear Susan, I am so sorry to hear about your friend Bud. Losing someone is so hard. You have my sympathy and prayers. I love your blue card. The flowers and the saying make it so sweet. I love how you did the dots around the circle. The DSP. Is great with this card. I agree JOY is a wonderful word. We need to be doing more things that bring us JOY. Wish me luck Saturday I am the coordinator of our church’s annual craft sale. It is a huge job. It brings me JOY… This is my ninth year coordinating this Craft sale.
Have a great day my friend. Ellen Hinds
Love your card. The flowers as accent are perfect the way you’ve tucked them around the sentiment. I love this set too as they are so faithful.
Blue is my favorite color, so this beautiful card is great. I love the flowers, DSP and the sentiment in the circle. I’m sorry about Bud and send my thoughts and prayers to you. I hope you feel better soon. You are always so upbeat, but at times we all feel a little down. Think of how much you inspire all of your followers and how much we enjoy your blog everyday…that should help put a little sunshine and joy in your day. Take care.
When I saw the Floral Boutique DSP paper I too thought it was a fabulous classic and knew I had to have it as I liked all the designs. I have been somewhat stingy with it though, and only made a couple of cards using it. Your card is so sweet. I need to play with it some more.
You know how to sing the blues! Sweet card! Glad you joined us at FMS…..and see you soon!
Ah crap, Linda beat me to it, about singing the blues! I checked a couple times yesterday for your post and decided good, she decided to take it a bit easy and do what you needed to do regarding Bud instead of stressing over a post and what we think etc. The card is pretty with it’s blue flowers. At first I thought the bottom panel slipped and then I laughed, she remembered the sketch and nailed it! The dots and dashes complete the sentiment panel. Love that! Take as much time as you need as you are going to be running crazy with things to do and places to go. I wish I could be there to make the Tin of Cards as I bet you all will have a great time. Now, I am glad I didn’t put my swap card in an envelope but in the box with the other stuff so you could get a sneak peak – I hope he brought out a smile.
I never got to join the swap. So sorry. I’ll have to enjoy the parade of cards, and I am sure I will.
Susan, this card is lovely. I hope you are less blue and more pink soon.
?
Susan, your card is bluetifule!!!! I just got the paper and can’t wait to CASe it!!!! It is a bluetiful card to pick up one’s spirits!
I love the way you have showcased that large sentiment. The simple blue color scheme is wonderful – and those little flowers work perfectly. Thank you for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.
Jammie shopping! I’m actually fully clothed, at work, pretending to work… I should be pretending that I’m in my jammies and relaxing. For singing the blues, you’ve made a wonderful card that is bound to shake the blues off any recipient.
Hi Susan! It’s so good to ‘see’ you again! Your card is fab, fab, fab. You really made the most of the challenges and this one definitely deserves attention! Thanks for sharing with us at Freshly Made Sketches!
