Happy Thursday! This is a “keeper card” as it is SOOOOOO darn fast and easy to make and if you do not have this stamp set….you need to go to the bottom of this post and HIT that PAW PRINT and order it!
The stamp set is sooooo appropriately called Wonderful Year, and trust me, if this set goes on the bye-bye list – it will always have a home on Randall Lane. I am always head over heels with BIG sentiments.
I made this card as my “Swap Card” in Atlanta. I made 55 of these one evening and it went super fast and I learned a great lesson that I will pass on to you later down in the post! The paper is from the This Christmas DSP that is in the Annual Catalog….I am a HUGE fan of this collection as it is traditional Christmas at its best!
REMEMBER, this DSP has (4) sheets of each design…so ~ you can make 24 Cards from a pack of paper! The weight of this paper is thinner but I love the feel and texture of it.
I know that it is hard to see the GOLD embossing of the sentiment but trust me, when it is in your hand….it feels and looks special but the best part is that it is SUPER FAST AND EASY! Heat Embossing is so rewarding but I HIGHLY recommend that you use the embossing buddy to take away static from the paper before you stamp the image with versamark.
Here is the TIP that I learned and YEP, it worked out JUST FINE~ when I made these cards, I would stamp and sprinkle over 10 CARDS AT A TIME…and then I would use the Heat Tool to set it up – TALK ABOUT A TIME SAVER!
This is what I call an “Assembly Line” card as you can cut all of the pieces out….and then work in steps. It really is a stunning card …one that would make anyone smile.
Here are the dimensionals for you as I DO HOPE that you case it!
- The Card Base is an A-2 Vertical Card (4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″
- The Real Red is a “smidge smaller” (4 1/8″ X 5 3/8″)\
- The DSP is 4″ X 5 1/4″
- The White piece that is Embossed in Gold is 3 1/2″ X 3″
- The real Red mat is a “smidge larger” ~ 3 5/8″ X 3 1/8″
The gold bakers twine was added by putting Fast Fuse on the back and just forming simple loops – (That is about as Artistic as I will get) but it does create a great visual to the card!
You know me, I needed to do an envelope. Just remember if you are doing the envelopes…you will need to take into consideration that you will need more paper. I like to cut my paper to 2″ X 6″ therefore I will get (12) envelopes from a single sheet of DSP. The Real Red strip is just 1/4″ X 6″ and I adhere that first and then the DSP below…..let it set up and TRIM AWAY! 🙂
I must say, I was happy with this card and I was proud to hand it out at World Cardmaking Day. I hope that this post shows/shares with you that keeping it super simple can still produce a keeper!
Tomorrow is a SUPER SPECIAL day for me…pop back and see what is UP MY SLEEVE….as I think that you will smile! Make it a fabulous day, do something for YOU….do something for OTHERS and you will be one happy person! 😀

What a great choice of papers creating a rich & tailored look. Simple but very stylish. Great job!
Great card Susan. I think it is very traditional and impressive. I am sure it was a big hit.
Have a great day.
🙂
Love your card! I’m sure everyone was happy to get you clean and classic card at WCMD! Thanks for the dimensions…I will CASE away! It’s been a whirlwind week here so far, I’m ready for the weekend. 🙂
Beautiful card! Love the simple, clean look and a great way to use DSP up. Definitely will case this with a variety of other sentiments as well. Thanks, Susan, and have a fun day.
I really like this simple and clean look! I am a big fan of this sentiment and stamp set and I plan on still getting it for my Christmas cards. I like the paper as well but I also like the other side really well. That seems to be a problem with me lately. The cards I had planned to send out, ended up going in the nursing home project box so I am thinking of CASEing your card too. To think I was going to send my cards out early this year but it will not happen. It could be worse as it is not even Thanksgiving yet. Can you believe it is going to be 72 degrees here today? Of course the weather will change tomorrow and be colder, rain, etc. Sort of hard to think ginger breadmen, snowflakes and such, not that I am complaining! I actually have a holiday party this afternoon to go to! I wonder what will be up for you Susan (for tomorrow) since you said it will be SUPER SPECIAL?
I absolutely love this card! Can’t wait to CASE it!!!!
I love this pretty card, Susan. Thanks for the tips about mass producing it and the measurements are always a plus. I’m sure people at WCMD loved it. Have a super day!
I need a quick card this year and this is pretty and happy as well. Big thanks for the tip on how many you stamp before you heat emboss them! I’ve been afraid to try more than a couple! Appreciate your talent and sharing.
Wow! I’m impressed both with your card and with how you could like up 10 cards or so at once to heat emboss them in a batch. Then again, you were in hotel room without pets to suddenly decide to lay down in the middle of your batch of cards.
