Before we get going on this super card…here is a run down of our Turkey Day…we are kinda boring….kinda silly that we do weird things….but one thing that is for sure – we have fun. I just love having everyone home!
I am still STUFFED from the feast…how about you? We had an absolutely fabulous day on Thursday…starting off with all of us running/walking the 5 K Turkey Trot~ I must say, I was super proud of all of us and I am glad that we did it….just in time to come home and gobble homemade gooey, yummy sticky buns and a wonderful Strata while taking the the remainder of the Macy’s Day Parade.
After the parade…everyone in my family know not to ask me to do anything while the dog show is on…I get such a HOOT out of watching it and every year I say, “There should be a Dog show for rescues” as our beautiful misfits would strut the runway!
Then…out the door we go and Hannah and I went down to the barn and yep, I received the lecture….”Mom….Oscar is just too fat….you really need to cut back his food” and then my response is…..”He sure is cute, isn’t he” He is my little “Teletubbie”!!!
Then to Football…a puzzle (and YEP, we completed a 1,000 piece puzzle together)…and then we get ready to eat – it is a L O N G day but once we finally sit…WE SIT…we yack away and eat way too much and then there is no room for dessert. That is what Friday is for!!! 🙂
O.k – ENOUGH….we need to get to this super cute card! This is going to be a fun 2-day post for you as today I am doing “Simple Saturday” but tomorrow I will be showcasing a card that I received at a swap in Atlanta that will be the “Stepped up version” of today’s card!
I can honestly say that I sure have used this stamp set to the MAX and I do not think that any of us would disagree that it is a keeper!
This stamp is also 25% off with the Stitched from the Heart Sale and remember, these stamps that are in this sale are only until November 30th…which YIKES – that is Wednesday ~ The clear mount is just $15.00! Remember to click on the image in the Stitched from the Heart to get that wonderful sale price!
I have a confession…a confession of an honest Demonstrator ~ I totally overlooked these beautiful Acetate Papers. They are in the Annual Catalog and is called Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate.
They are simply beautiful and you get (6) sheets in a pack. The one side looks gold (like I am showing you today) and the other side is silver – I say BRILLIANT! Where have I been? These are so beautiful and I love the different patterns!
I am sure that many of you are saying….”Susan, this does not look SIMPLE” – well…you are wrong. This is a super simple card to whip up and it has an impressive WOW factor.
Think about this…you will get (6) cards of decorative acetate from one sheet of paper (cutting it at 4” X 5 ¼”)…therefore you would be able to make 36 cards from one pack of this paper.
We all know that heat embossing gives you a double whammy….(1) an instant gratification from within as we all love the “feel good” of heat embossing and (2) the lucky recipient is going to think that you are AMAZING (well, you are) because of the sheer WOW factor of this card.
Remember, the key to success with heat embossing is:
- Use the Stampin’ Buddy as this will take off any static or oils that you might have on your hand to insure that you get a good, clean & crisp image.
- Have an inexpensive paintbrush handy so if you see some “stray pieces” – you can flick them off.
- Have your heat tool GOOD AND HOT before you start your setting of the embossed image.
The rest is very straightforward ~ using good old speed tools that get the job done. I used the Oval Framelits and then the trimmer to cut the banner.
The acetate paper seems to cling right to the card stock but I did use a strip of fast fuse down the center of the banner to hold it in place.
Here is another tip….I think that when you heat emboss…you often get a bit of warping. Do not let this stress you as you can do things to make it POOF – go away! I mounted it on a larger scalloped oval and you can never tell that there was any warping!
I am really lovin’ my gold “loops” – I think that this is the 3rd card that I have down this to. I put a generous amount of Fast fuse to the back of my oval and then simply make fun loops…easy peasy!
You can see that I POPPED up the sentiment. I chose to use fun foam to give it a super firm feel but you could easily use stampin’ dimensionals. I purchase fun foam in sheets wherever I can find it the best bargain and yep – you can run it through the Big Shot with a die with no worries.
Well, there you go! One SIMPLE card that you could EASILY MASS PRODUCE!
Remember the tip I shared with you with the swap card that I made for Atlanta – when you are heat embossing…do not take the time to stamp – sprinkle the embossing powder – then heat set it ~ DO IT IN BATCHES as it saves a BUNCH of time!
As long as the embossing powder is on paper, you can then heat set a bunch at a time. I am all about saving time!
I hope to see you back here tomorrow as I have a beauty for you and then I think that you will see that this version is truly “Simple” I am always in awe with the amazing talent out there.
I felt blessed to get this swap card and I knew that the minute I saw it, I was going to CASE it.
Enjoy the day, hopefully find some time to make some “me time” to create. I am one that simply will not deal with the crazy crowds…home works just fine for me!
Also…you know what today is ~ Small Business Saturday, so……I am a small business…and I would LOVE for you to shop with me!!! (just saying!!!!!) Whatever you do today, be safe, have fun, make memories and do not sweat the small stuff!
Stampin’ hugs!
p.s. – I ADORED the comments about Millie and Alyece, I am so glad that they brought “joy” to you…because my JOY TANK is full full from them….and I will do a search for that shirt that Millie had on…I have had lots of emails! I loved their spirit and true love of life!

Susan, it sounds as though you and your family had a jam-packed and very fun Thanksgiving. This card is great. I love the foil acetate. Can’t wait to see what the stepped up version brings. Have a wonderful day!
We did have a super FUN day! I am up (all by myself as everyone is sleeping) and it feels great to have some time with a cup of coffee to respond to you all!. I am glad you liked this card…I thought it iwas a very classic one and it is amazing at how easy it is!
A very handsome card today. Love the color and the acetate paper element.
I agree about that acetate ~ where was I when I missed that! It taught me that using a product that “is normally out of my element) could work….I love it! Hugs to the gang!
Hi Susan, so you did a “stepped down” version for us today right?! That is so funny. I over looked the acetate papers too. This card is perfect. Looking forward to tomorrow’s card too.
I am so glad you had a great Thanksgiving, we did too.
🙂
Hello my NY friend!!! YES – this IS the stepped down version. I wish that you would have seen my face when I received this card at the swap….I was – YEP, THIS IS GOING TO BE CASED!!!!! I am so glad that you had a great turkey day….I hope that the girls were home! Hugs!!!!
Beautiful card! Can’t wait to see the stepped up version. I overlooked this paper too. Your gobble day sounds like fun. We have silly traditions as well but it makes for great memories! Enjoy the day!
YIPPEE…I am glad that someone else missed it!!! Now….if you were to tell me that you had a sheep at your Thanksgiving Feast, I would hop in the car and head north to see that!
Loved this card. It is an easy card to CASE. How did you attach the acetate paper? I always have trouble with that. Your Thanksgiving sounds perfect. We were with family and 4 service members from Ft. Eustis, VA. What a day we had. Those boys loaded their plates twice and said it was the best food they had had since arriving in VA. Then they were asleep in front of the TV. LOL
I am sure that YOU MADE THEIR DAY and that their bellies were FULL! Sounds like a perfect day! The only place that I adhered the acetate was to add a strip of fast fuse behind where the banner was….it is amazing at it kind of “clings” to the cardstock ….hope that helps!
I purchased the foil acetate sheets last spring but have never used them because I didn’t know how to adhere it without the glue/tape showing. I guess the trick is to hide it under another layer. Thank you for sharing, Susan! Very classy card. What color green is the base?
YEP….you’re right ~ the key is hiding the adhesive as it will show through. Behind the banner worked great for me! The card base is Always Artichoke – that is a go to color for me at the holidays!
This is one classy card. I love the papers you used. Is that “Artichoke” green? Look forward to seeing tomorrow’s stepped up version as this is one “Dandy” card today.
Yep….Always Artichoke! You are right…it is a “Dandy” card thanks from the inspiration I received. I can’t wait for you to see tomorrows!
I love this card and I too totally overlooked that acetate. Need to check it out, but not sure how else I’d use it! Maybe you can show us more uses! Can’t wait to see the stepped up version b/c I like this one so much. (How did you have time to cook in all that activity?! Sounds fun.)
Thanks for the comment and I am happy that you liked the card! I WILL do another card using this….actually – the person below (Ramsey) sent me a BEAUTIFUL card using it and I will share it with you later in the week. I am feeling a bit better that others overlooked it!
As far as cooking goes….that is a true love for me and trust me, I have mouths that love to eat! I started on Tuesday evening and was a cooking fool all day Wednesday! YUM = love this time of year and…hmmm = maybe I need a piece of pumpkin pie!
Susan, I love this card! I am a big fan of the acetate pack! As for your turkey day, I think we were twins for a good part if it! No run for me though, I was much to lazy! Did catch the later part of the Macy’s Parade, a tradition in my world! And yes, I was glued to the dog show! Those dogs are a riot! So primped and beautiful/hansom! But you can’t beat a rescue dog!!! I did not have the puzzle but what a great idea! I have a friend who steers me away from a puzzle every time we see one because she knows……. I am lost in them!
YEAH….I could figure that you would be a DOG SHOW FAN….we love our mutts! YOU are the queen of this fabulous foil. After I was in Atlanta and you sent me that beautiful card….I was like – WOW….I know where that came from! I am going to showcase it this week!!! Hugs, my Maryland friend!
Aw, I have a big smile on right now!
Dear Susan, Your Thanksgiving day sounds like so much fun. .It is so wonderful to have so many beautiful traditions with family.Spending time with family is so important .Your card is so pretty. .The pretty acetate sheets look so nice. I Can not believe you can step this card up. .It is so pretty just as it is. Enjoy all of those deserts. Hugs,Ellen Hinds
Oh Ellen…thanks for being “in the house” – I am having fun with the peeps. Right now I am in my jammies and we are all watching Finding Dory – I love it that the peeps love to be at home and do simple things…..it is cornbread and chili night!
Susan, I found that pretty acetate paper just about a month ago . I was so surprised that nobody was showing it on their blogs ! It is on my next order list for sure after seeing your card . .
Thank you for sharing your holidays with your BLOG GROUPIES !!
YIPPEE…..You will be seeing it from me again this week! I love it and I love my “groupies”
I had actually seen them in the catalog but decided I sure didn’t need them. Of course now I want them but I want a lot of other things more. This is such a fun card. I do have the stamp set on order from my local demo/card club. I love the polka dots with the striped paper and then the gold twine! I just want to run my hand across the whole card! Maybe I can use a piece of vellum that has polka dots on it to semi CASE it. I need to heat emboss more – it is the crowning touch. Looking forward to tomorrow’s post!
Hello my Iowa buddy! You are sooooooo right, the heat embossing is the crowning touch! Heat embossing is so easy yet ALWAYS creates a WOW! Maryland hugs….
I did a puzzle on Thanksgiving Day too. I had help from the cats. I love your classy card and laugh that you made a stepped down version just for this weekend to share with us. I have the acetate and haven’t used it and I did not know it was gold on one side and silver on the other….. Now that’s exciting news.
