You know the Beatles song….“I get by with a little help from my friends”…well this is an example of how “friends” teach us….and guess what We are all so blessed to be friends….some in person, some cyber but this is how we learn and grow!
I know that I have bee a bit “off schedule” with all of the “Holiday Happenings” but on Tuesday’s I like share a TIP for your Tuesday! My friend….super talented and just down right funny friend Jeanie told me about this. At first I did not believe it but I can say first hand I tried it over the weekend and it works!
Do you get frustrated when your stamps do not stay on their blocks? Yep, I think we all do and I have blogged before about different remedies to help but this one is a keeper – it sounds like a total mess but try it – I know you’ll like it!
It is “GREEN GLUE to the rescue” You know that I am a HUGE FAN of Green Glue and also Fast Fuse but over time I have learned that EVEN IF my blocks are squeaky clean, my stamps sometimes do not stay nice and snug!
Let me back up a bit…when I received a new stamp set, I would always put the clean image that comes in the packaging (I guess you could say, like you are supposed to) but for the past year I have opted out of putting the “clear picture labels” on like I just explained. WHY you might be asking?
I will say that I think that the stamps stay on PERFECT when that window picture is not mounted on the stamp. (I hope that this makes sense) I used to think that was silly that people did that because I thought, “How in the heck will I be able to see what stamp it is” – Now I ask you….I think we all can tell by the shape etc…and this really has been a game changer! 🙂
For the ones that I have already put the images on….GREEN GLUE to the rescue!
I ordered the below custom stamps and I asked for them NOT to be mounted on Wood Blocks as I knew that I would rather have them mounted on an acrylic block or loose for me to use it in my MISTI
I learned, very quickly that they did not stick….so – Jeanie’s tip…I tried it, and I LOVED IT! ( I admit, I love my new stamps…..Merry Christmas to me) I have been using the HAPPY MAIL in mailing out the NEW catalogs…..the 1st wave went out…more go on Wednesday!
If you are wondering where I purchased these custom stamps…it was from Bossy Joscie – she does AMAZING work and was great to work with. With having an “I” for the last name…many times the “I’s “ look wonky and she sent me several drafts to get it…“just right”
So how would you like to win 2 bottles of GREEN GLUE!?!!? In the season of the Holiday’s we will be having FUN..because if you are like me, this is a busy season and I think that it is a twist to daily blogs and to have FUN and INTERACTIVITY together!
Just leave me a comment and let me know if you have tried this…..or if you have another idea….or just to say HI!!!! I will randomly pick a winner with random.com……
We will be doing FUN things like this all week long. I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful “cyber family” and I deeply appreciate you popping on and sharing your time with me!
I love what I do…and I love chatting and helping YOU!

I can’t believe you ever doubted me! LOL Glad it worked on the red rubber… I have only done it with the clear stamps. I love your new “Susan” stamps!!! I’ll be singing that Beatles song all day…thanks for being such a great friend!!!!!
I have been using this tip for a while now and love it. It works so well. I, too, have a custom stamp – not as nice as yours- and I dedicated an acrylic block to it, so it doesn’t have to be removed. Like Jeanie, I love your new stamps. The font of “Susan Itell” is perfect. It’s always fun to receive packages from you, but now they have a bigger smile factor.
Thank you for another great idea. It works nicely! Merry Christmas!
Susan, I am either so lazy or impatient because I have never put those stickers on my stamps! I just can’t stand to spend an extra second setting up my stamp set when I’m ready to get creative! Now I say I have been doing it all along to keep the stamp on the block – ha ha!
Great tip! Thanks
I like the green glue “technique” also. I tried glue dots but like the glue better! Thank you and Merry Christmas:)
Great tip! Thanks Susan and Jeanie. I do put the labels on but will change now that I know they stick better without. I am going to use your trick for all my other stamps. Have a great day!
Thanks Susan; I love everything you share with us. Great ? !
Yup, gave up on the stickers on the back of my rubber stamps because they get in the way of the stamp really adhering to the block. I don’t care, but it drives my Girl Scout troop nuts when they are using my materials for a project! So the stamps we get primarily for their use in a project I label, and have been doing the Green Glue VooDoo Magic trick on them for a while now. Works great, even with the hard use the girls put their stamps through. Only once did I have to reapply the glue and that was after a vigorous scrubbing with Dawn under the faucet. Always love your tips, Susan; you are such a generous sharer!
Yes, I heard about this tip awhile ago. I do still put the labels on the stamps, but the green glue is great to make them stick. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderfull holiday.
I can’t imagine how often I would stamp something upside down if I didn’t add the labels. When I get a set I add the labels and then add the green glue. Let it all dry and the set is ready to go! Love those custom stamps!!!
I am definitely going to give this tip a try. I was making a bunch of handmade cards for a gift yesterday and could of used this tip. Every time I would go to ink up my stamp it would come off the acrylic block. Boy was I becoming frustrated.
And I thought I was the only one … My Type A side, which likes having all the little duckies in a row, insisted on using the clear stamp labels, which meant having to fold scotch tape to get the stamps to stick to a block. Then I figured out they will stick to a stick to blocks w/o the labels. They don’t look quite as nice, lined up in their plastic cases, but it sure saves on aggravation! Thanks, Susan, for the tip about glue. Never would have thought of that!
I`m like Ramsey ….I need my labels on so I won`t stamp up side down. I have been using the Graphix Cling Vinyl on my blocks and it works good ,but I am a “TIP” junkie so I will certainly try Jeanie`s Green Glue technique on the stamps. FUN !!
Hi Susan, I put a one inch swatch of tape runner on my acrylic block. Stamps stick to ii just great! Merry Christmas!
Hi Susan, first of all let me tell you I love your blog and stamping style. I have not used the green glue but will give it a try. I have used scotch tape and that works ok but stamp is not flush on block. Merry Christmas.
Can’t wait to go try your tip – you are the best at sharing tips! Thank you!
I saw this idea on someone’s Pinterest and have used it ever since. Works perfectly! Thank you Susan for all the hard work and great designs you share with us. May you and your family have a blessed Christmas.
I have also been using this tip for a long time. I actually converted most of my wood stamps to cling stamps to save on space several years back. It works well!!
Thanks for another great tip. Have used a smidge of two-sided tape, but will try this.
The green glue is my “go to” for many things other than holding my unmounted stamps to an acrylic block.; I’m sure a beginner stampers is going to find this tip very helpful. Thanks for sharing. Merry Christmas to you, John & your peeps.
This tip is just in time for me! Off to use it right now after grumping about my stamp falling off.
Good Morning, I too have tried these both methods. I now leave the clear image off my stamps. Green glue is magical. I love your tips. I finally got the Mono eraser and it too, is magical.
🙂
I have tried the Green Glue Trick and it works a charm. I have to admit I never used Green Glue until you, Susan, talked me into it. On a whim I tried it on a stamp that wouldn’t stick well and oh my gosh! That did the trick. I’m like you though. I don’t put the clear labels on anymore. You can also peel the clear label off stamps that have them on. I then just stick them inside the case. That way if I later sell or pass on the set, the next person can decide how they want to use them.
Do not use double sided tape to stick a cling mount that won’t cling. I tried that once and when I peel the stamp off, it peeled bits of the foam mount off.
I knew the tip about the green glue but have never used it. I am too lazy to put the label on the stamps and I guess therefore my stamps don’t fall or slide off the block. But, sometimes I do wish I would take the time to put the labels on and probably will on some or a few.
I did use 1 1/2 bottles of green glue with the nursing home cards. Please try that tip about putting a glob on the silicone mat for the thinlets and it works wonders for use with the velum – it really does not show on the card where the velum is glued to the card. To think I didn’t like that glue at first!
I have used your green glue tip to adhere a clear mounted stamp to a glass block. But I admit I do leave off the clear marked label on some that I can easily see what the item is. Some of the greetings it’s just easier to put the clear label on and use the green glue as temporary adhesive. I used fast fuse to adhere an item on embossed paper and it wasn’t staying put, who would guess that the embossing was making it so hard to adhere. So I put green glue on and just like magic the pop-up stayed in place. I hope we never get rid of green glue. It is a miracle in a tube.
Thank you, Susan, for sharing this great tip from Jeanie. I have tried several other tips, but using green glue makes so much sense. I will be stamping today so will try this tip. I love your “Susan” stamps.
Susan, did you put the green glue on your stamp? Or on one dedicated acrylic block to use with many stamps?
Hi Susan! I have never tried this nor have I even thought about trying it, but it sounds like a winner. This is what I’ve done in the past: I wet the stamp just a little bit and have found it sticks better that way. I also have found that if I hold the acrylic block with the stamp on it pressed to my desk for several seconds, it stays on much better than just placing it and hoping it will stay there. It sounds like the glue trick would work like a charm though! Thank you for your fun learning tips~
Love your ‘Tips On Tuesday’. I’ve learned so many little things from many tips from many people. That’s what friends are for, and many other things too. It’s so frustrating to have your stamp fall off your block, just when you are going to stamp and now your card is ruined. Going to try this one.
I have not tried this with green glue. I need to! I tried it with an Aleene’s product that is supposed to restick. It does restick, but it leaves itself behind on the clear block. I will try the green glue and see if it works better for me than the other stuff did! Thanks for the tip!
I really like having the “picture” on the stamp so have used green glue on them for a long time since they don’t stick the best. Easy trade-off to be able to see how to position stamp. Love your new name stamp!
I learned of the green glue ‘trick’ awhile back and love that my stamps now stick, but hate how the glue gumps up my clear block, so to solve that issue I have purchased dedicated blocks to use with the green glued stamps! Thanks for sharing all the tips, love them all and have used quite a few of them.
Love your new stamps! I will have to try the green glue trick. I am running low on that awesome stuff and would absolutely LOVE to win two bottles free.
Green glue? Evidently I am living under a rock! When I put my stamps on the block it’s usually with a wish and a prayer that it stays! Is it easy to get the green glue off the acrylic blocks? I have a limited amount of acrylic blocks and I’d had to ‘glue’ them up. I am glad to know there is something that works better than wishing and praying!
Gosh, it’s been a long day! As I was heading off to bed I realized I forgot to leave a comment for you. I use the green glue on stamps all the time. I don’t remember who I got the idea from (obviously it wasn’t from you–shocker) but it was a “happy dance” revelation for me too. Thanks for sharing your new stamps! Love, love, love them!!!!! Have a great night! 🙂
thanks for the tip, I will certainly try it. years ago I had used Aleene’s tack it over and over on the back of some stamps and even tho I tried to de-stickify them some, they still stuck so strongly in the case I was storing them in that it tore the foam on the stamp. I didn’t use that anymore, lol
I have been doing this for awhile now. Love you Happy Mail stamp. TFS
