My best birthday memory for myself was when I was five. We invited my friends over for a dress up party. We drank out of tea cups and had cupcakes, wore “pearls” and gloves. We thought we were something. My crafty Mom made little paper crafted pocketbooks to put candy in for favors, and that was long before papercrafting was popular. Such a fun memory!
Happy Birthday Will! One of my sweetest birthday surprises came from my children the year after my husband passed away. They arranged to kidnap me and drive us to the beach for dinner at one of my husbands and mine favorite simple restaurants . They invited my inlaws and had a small cake and presents ….it was so sweet and bittersweet at the same time. The beach had always been one of our favorite family places and it touched me that we could all be together there for a beautiful evening . So special
My best birthday was the suprise 1/2 birthday my husband gave me one summer. He and the kids had conspired to give me a suprise in July rather than in December when my birthday occurs. It was so very thoughtful! Christmastime birthdays are so rushed and stressed ?
Happy Birthday, Will! The most remembered birthday of mine was the year I turned 5. I was taken to the hospital a couple days before the event because I had pneumonia. My parents brought the presents to me right in my hospital bed. When my mom recommended that I share some of the candy with the other little girl in the room, I rebelled! After all, it was my special day and my presents. (I also kicked and screamed while being dragged to the car to get to the hospital!) And yes, I really DO remember this~
Happy 30th Birthday! ? Hope your day is special! My favorite birthday memory was from when I turned five. I was so excited to have my first “friends” birthday party at McDonald’s with all my classmates from school. We had great time.
I had my Sweet 16 at McDonald’s, your mentioning it reminded me. It was so much fun even if we were too big for the playground. We loved being treated like kids.
Happy Birthdsy Will! My favorite memory was for my 50th. We went on a cruise to Mexico with fsmily including my Mom who was battling cancer. We knew this would be her last big trip so bittersweet but we all shared so many memories that week. That birthday trip is close to my heart and makes you remember to enjoy every day you have together
Happy Birthday Will!!!!!! Hope your day is full of fun (we know your weekend was). ? My favorite birthday memory was my mother’s 90th birthday. What can you say when your entire immediate family comes together to honor a wonderful mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother!! Priceless!!!❤❤?❤❤
My favorite birthday was giving my Mom her first birthday party when she turned 65. I invited the neighbors and asked that no gifts be brought…just their presence. My Mom was so surprised and humbled. She was a humble soul anyway and so appreciated the fact that she had a birthday party. The look on her face was priceless and one I will never forget.
My fun birthday memory is when I was 13 I came home from school and my mother had redecorated my room with new bedspread and curtains in a French poodle theme. I was delighted. Golly, that’s been a long time. Happy Birthday, Will!! Thanks, Susan, for the chance at 30 of your beautiful cards. I love blog candy!! Have a great day.
My favorite birthday memory is the one when my oldest grandson was born. I waited all day because we knew he would be born very close to either my birthday on the 18th or his other grandmother’s on the 21st. The anticipation was such fun but, alas, no birthday baby! He waited until the next day – I think it was so that he didn’t have to choose between his grandmothers!
Happy Birthday, Will! Enjoy your day! My favorite birthday memory was when my twin boys were turning 5. We had a local teen dress as Spider-Man and visit during the party. The kids were in awe and my boys still talk about it as being the BEST!
Happy birthday to Will! I remember when our daughter turned 1 – we had to try for many years to have children. Celebrating her first birthday was a testimony to us of God’s faithfulness! Thanks for a chance to win 30 cards – that’s an amazing “candy”.
My favorite Birthday was when I reached 60! My mom, husband and daughter surprised me with a huge birthday bash. I received a invitation for my friends husband’s so-called surprise birthday party. We were stuck in traffic and very fashionably late. I was so totally surprised that I told everyone I was the wrong person … then I saw my brother and his family who flew in from Arizona and my friends from work! They totally got me and it was the best kept secret ever! The “surprise birthday boy” got a nice gift too! LOL
My children surprised me with a party for my 60th (my first ever party)! They also gave me a professionally done portrait of the four of them. Greatest birthday ever, even though it made me cry! Happy birthday to Will!
Happy Birthday, Will! I’m a BIG believer that EVERY birthday should be CELEBRATED (especially since I had cancer in 2012). I remember my 10th birthday because my mom made me a cake shaped like a grand piano. I loved it so much that I didn’t want to cut it and eat it!!!
I was born on my mother’s birthday! Well, just a few minutes after midnight, and the Dr. would not back-time the birth, as I got the story. So my birthday is the next day. Always think of my mom on those two days!

OK you don’t have to automatically eliminate the middle man on the blog candy since my birthday is coming up in a few weeks. I will gladly accept any birthday cards then and will welcome them and cherish them as well! It is getting a little deep in here. It is not fun getting old and has too many birthday memories. I have written this before that one of my favorite birthday presents was when I was little, well I am still vertically challenged, my dad actually bought me a present without my mom’s help. My dad hated to shop. He bought me this little bracelet with detailed gold shamrocks on it and tiny green fake jewel hearts on it. I still wear it on my birthday – hey, it would be classified as an antique now. I always had a birthday party growing up. There was many a green birthday cakes and my mom’s favorite idea was to use an angel food cake pan and place a doll in the hole of the cake and then ice the cake as a dress in green. The little doll usually had dark red hair like me. I always had a new green dress for my birthday too. Since I was a cesarean baby my mom picked March 17th for the day. Dr. Aid (his actual name) was preparing the birth certificate thinking since mom picked that day that she was going to call me Patricia and he started to put that on the certificate and mom said no, it is Christine, Patricia is too Pat of an answer. My mom making puns on the way to the OR. Christine was the name of a semi-homeless bag lady in our neighborhood. That I never understood why she named me that unless it was to keep me humble.
Happy Birthday Will and congrats Susan on having a special group of peeps!
Mothers always shake their heads in wonder…”Thirty?! How did THAT happen?” I’m right there with you all; my daughter left the 20-something ranks last year. I can’t pick a special birthday–I’m blessed to have celebrated so many standouts, for myself, for family and for friends…I’m sure Will’ s weekend with his family was a standout, too. Happiest Birthday, Will!
Happy 30th Birthday Will!! Every birthday is special and may each one hold special memories for you Will! It is my 30th that holds such special memories so may yours also!!
My favorite birthday memory is my 50th surprise birthday party. My whole family surprised me and they came from everywhere! My 3 children all came even though they were supposed to be elsewhere and the biggest surprise was my 2 sisters and my parents. It was my last birthday that my Dad was alive. Fond memories that help ease the pain of losing my Dad.
There are so many special birthday memories but one of the sweetest is my Dad’d 69th birthday. Mom made it very special with delicious food and a beautiful cake. Sadly 2 days later my Dad died. But we were all so happy the whole family was there to celebrate with him. We were able to spend those last moments with him and he with us.
My favorite birthday was my 9th birthday. Mom threw me a huge party and I believe it was the only birthday party I ever had. I received so many special presents and my Grandma sent me a Bible, which I had wanted so much. I felt like a Princess! So happy birthday, Will! May your day be spectacular and your coming year, EPIC!
My favorite Birthday was my 50th. My Daughters surprised me with a party with all my family. Even my parents drove up from Florida. I hadn’t seen them for a couple years. And my Daughters were surprised that they actually surprised Me.
My son turns 30 this year too 🙂
I remember his first birthday, first time I ever went in the ditch driving. I was so excited to get home for his birthday and I got my car stuck so it took even longer to get home.
I still loved every minute of celebrating his birthday tho!
Happy Birthday Will. We are “birthday buddies” as my birthday is today too! (I’m much older than 30 though, add 40 extra years! I don’t feel that old though!)
Have a great day!
I think all birthdays should be celebrated – in some way. That said, I never really cared to be the “birthday girl” – too much attention. For my 50th, my husband and I went away for the weekend. Imagine my surprise to find a beautiful bouquet of pink roses waiting for me in the hotel room from my sisters and presents from our two children. That was special! Happy birthday, Will! May you have many special memories of happy birthdays, too.
It was COLD in December & windy…we were visiting the arch in St Louis for my 17th b-day…I was walking quickly with both hands in my coat pocket & I tripped & had no hands to catch my fall when I hit the sidewalk! I sort of caught myself on my elbows best I could-they were bloody through my coat, sweater & turtleneck! Funny part was I couldn’t get up cuz I was laying on my hands! My family & now hubby then boyfriend said I looked like a fish flopping around! My elbows & pride were hurt but it is funny now to look back on & have a laugh 🙂
My son turns 40 this year, unbelievable! One birthday memory that I will never forget is when my husband and best friend threw me a 40th surprise party. The only problem was, I was only 39! Try to tell that to a room full of people. “No, really, I’m only 39!” Uh huh, sure you are is what everyone kept saying. All the while my husband and friend were laughing their heads off!
Happy Birthday Will! One of my favorite birthday memories was my 40th and my Mom threw a girls weekend birthday party with my closest friends and family. Very special time!
Happiest birthday, Will!!! How fun to read everyone’s memories. For my 60th birthday, my daughter and her husband threw me a Hawaii-themed party in their back yard, complete with a tiki bar, music and real hula dancers! (We live in central California in a beach area and there is a hula dance school.) The hula dancers taught US to hula and it was so much fun! Five of my six siblings came, along with my 87 year old Dad. Very special and I felt so celebrated.
Most people dread their birthday, especially as we get older…but I look at it this way…if I am celebrating another birthday then that means I am here on this Earth.
I used to work in an office located right next to a toll plaza. For my 50th birthday, my coworkers decided to put a portable message board on the side of I-75. It read, in bright orange LED lights… Happy 50th, Over the Hil-da
My favorite birthday memory is when my oldest daughter was born. We lived in Germany at the time. My husband called back to the US to let my parents know she had arrived. Because of the time difference, my parents found out the day before her actual birth day!
Happy 30th birthday, Will! I look forward to my free chocolate chip cookies every year at Max & Ermas 🙂 of course I share! I am not sure if schools allow it anymore, but in elementary school, I remember when it was your birthday, you would take a special treat into school to share with the class.

yeah, that was always fun to take treats to school. I usually took cupcakes my mom would decorate with shamrocks and green frosting. or sometimes yellow cupcakes with chocolate frosting and green gumdrops cut to look like a shamrock. One year my mom was doing something and couldn’t bring them to school for me so she sent them by taxi at recess time. All the kids thought that was really neat! Of course there was a cupcake or cookie for the taxi driver as well!
My 40th birthday was fun…even though I was dreading entering a new decade. My good friend at work put out a request to shower me with cards (hopefully at least 40 of them) on my monumental day. There were cards everywhere…in my desk drawer, on my computer, taped to the wall in the copy room, even in the bathroom. They just kept popping up whenever I left my desk! Cards DO make a difference and brightened my day!
Happy 30th Birthday, Will…….celebrate each & every one of them…..they go by fast. I had a wonderful 50th B-day party with a bunch of my girlfriends……..we had such a fun day with champagne & so many laughs. Now I am looking forward to my 70th!! Just to be with my husband & kids & have good health is a huge “present”. What a great “candy” giveaway.
OMG, I’m actually in tears. These are beautiful stories. I cannot remember a specific childhood birthday, but in grammar school, we used to make corsages for each other, specific to the year, out of ribbon and candies. We would be wearing more than the uniform could hold. That was fun!!!
Happiest Birthday Will, enjoy your day and the year ahead.
🙂
Well, it wasn’t the BEST BIRTHDAY EVER, but the one I spent in the hospital, recovering from surgery for an appendix that had ruptured three days prior, was pretty memorable.
My 60th Birthday! My husband and daughter-in-law planned the surprise party. She did her magic with the decorations! I was totally surprised when I walked in and saw all our friends. I’ m lucked to have such a wonderful husband and daughter-in-law,
One of my favorite birthday memories is a party we had for my oldest son when he was 7. It was a pirate party and money was tight. So we had the kids walk the plank ( a picnic bench ), play with home made cardboard swords, look for treasure and end with a water balloon fight. It was wonderful and he still remembers it. Thanks for asking.
My best birthday memory was from 20 years ago when I turned 50… My DH planned a surprise party for me, borrowed a cardboard casket, had a cake with 50 candles and a fire extinguisher nearby in case of emergency! Lots of fun!
I remember my 60th surprise birthday celebration with over 75 friends. It was a total surprise; didn’t know my husband could be that sneaky. May be I’ll get another one this year to celebrate another milestone.
My birthday memory took place 39 years ago today (Feb. 28) as my oldest – twin girls -were born. The first thing I did once the surprise/shock of being pregnant with twins wore off, I checked to see if it would be leap year (it wasn’t). Appearancewise my two girls are only about a freckle different. Happy Birthday Will and happy birth-day to Susan?
I’m turning 50 this year, but my mom insists I have the math wrong and it’s more like 20… Anyway, the first birthday memory that came to mind was I was 6 or 7 and my mom gave all the birthday party participants stick pins. We were meant to play outside that day but it was raining so she tired a balloon to the chandelier, blindfolded us and had us try to pop the balloon with the stick pin. How did we not stick each other? I remember it was so much fun. It is hard to pop a balloon on a string with a stickpin. We were roaring with laughter (probably strung out on sugar).
Happy birthday Will! My fondest memory of a birthday was my 60th! My daughter planned a surprise for me. She had a cake made by the Ace of Cakes in the shape of a slot machine for me. Little did I know I was being filmed and it ended up as a segment on the Ace of Cakes TV show!
Happy 30th Birthday Will!
My fondest birthday was my 40th birthday when my sister surprised me with a big party and had even had t-shirts made for my closest family members with different sayings…husband’s “I’m married to the OLD lady!”: sister’s(we are 10 months apart in age) “I’m 40 and so is my sister!: brother’s “Both of my sisters are 40 and they aren’t twins!” And my favorites were my kids and niece and nephew each had shirts that said “My Mom (Aunt) is: (and they had painted their hand prints and put 4 pairs to total 40 fingers)!!! Really cool party and the colorful shirts made for some great pictures to scrapbook.
Happy birthday, Will. When my mother turned 90, we had a birthday dinner with family and friends, worrying it might be her last because of her melanoma. She turned 94 last week, defying the odds and making us realize how special all birthdays are.
The year I turned 60, Disney World was having their “Celebrate” promotion where you could have free entrance on the day of your birthday, and everyone in your party got a fast pass. I celebrated with my husband, my 2 kids, their spouses and my 6 grandkids. It was great fun acting like a kid as I turned 60.
I stopped by to read all these wonderful stories ! Oh my Susan ….how are you going to choose ? Who ever you choose will LOVE your gift of cards !
Can`t wait to see who the lucky ducky is ????
My best birthday memory is a surprise Birthday Party for my 6th birthday. We lived in the country and there were not many neighbors around and we lived far out of town.
My mother invited several friends and I had the best time of my life.
I would love to receive 30 cards made by a professional!!!
My favorite memory is of a dear friend’s 90th birthday party. She was so surprised by how many people came to help her celebrate. This month we will celebrate her 94th!
Happy Birthday sweet Will – May today be filled with smiles, love and blessings!!
Happy Birthday Will! That makes me feel really old.
My husband gave me an amazing surprise party for my 60th birthday. He made sure I was truly surprsed…it was 2 months before my actual birthday!
Happy Birthday Will! One of my sweetest birthday surprises came from my children the year after my husband passed away. Oh 30, seems so young! Enjoy your day! Our daughter was born on my 35th birthday, thats an event I will never forget!
Awww, Happy Birthday, Will!! When I turned 30 my husband surprised me and flew my best friend from Kansas City!! We lived in LA:)
30?!?!? How do our kids get to be that age!?!?!? Happy Birthday to Will!

Oh I almost forgot. Happy birthday Will!
Happy Birthday Will!!
My youngest was 31 yesterday ….how time does fly!!!
Happy Birthday, Will. Many blessings and joy filled days ahead.
Happy Birthday Will. I wish I was turning 30!
