Day # 2 of our weekend fun….and I am excited to hear your feedback. We all know that there are many ways to makes changes and it is a fun way to stretch our creativity and also help us “step out of the box a bit”
If you remember earlier in January I shared with you that I was going to try to tuck some doilies on some cards as I have seen many great ideas using then but to be honest, it was not my style but then I thought….I can make it work for my style of clean and simple cards! I was very pleased with this card but the real reason is this great bundle!
I used this bundle last month for my “Classes to Go” and it was very well received. Not only is it very “on trend” it is filled with great sentiments and that bumblebee – adorable!
So….here you go – side by side….YOU decide! The additional steps that I took for today were truly very minimal but I do think that it gives the card a totally different look and feel. The pictures are great but what is even better is to make it and “feel it” to see the beauty!
The above picture is “ok” but the color is a bit off and in the other pictures you will see the clarity and beauty of the card. I think that it is the Very Vanilla that makes is work. Please do not get my wrong, there is nothing better than a crisp white card….but there are times that the warmth of Very Vanilla just works!
One of the biggest changes I made was to use the “dot stamp” that is on the bundle and stamped it in Versamark. The below photo will show you the difference between using ink vs. versamark!
Enjoy these pictures and then I will share with you the dimensions for this card! It is the same as yesterday except for the “up grades” today. What are the upgrades….easy – the doilies and the linen thread.
When I went to put the doilies down on the DSP….I felt like it blended too much in the DSP and as a result, I was not happy with it. Then I thought – add a circle behind to make it pop….that is what I did – I added a So Saffron Circle that fit perfectly in the doilies and it just MADE IT (in my opinion) 😀 ….just sayin’
Here is your picture to pin and I do hope that you CASE it…this is a fabulous bundle and I think that this card could also go for so many different cards that we make – it would be great as it is, a birthday, a sympathy card, a get well etc…..
Here is another peek at a different angle but here is what you really want….the dimensions!
- Card Base is Very Vanilla in the vertical
- The Bermuda Bay is 4″ X 5 1/4″ and then adhered and the edges trimmed off
- The dots were stamped with Versa Mark…(REMEMBER, this is my FREEBIE this month)
- The DSP is 3″ X 4 3/4″
- Add a circle behind the center of the doilies and then add some strong adhesive and add the linen thread
- The dragonfly was adhered with glue dots
Thanks for popping in….I do appreciate your time and while you are here, feel free to shop in your jammies and remember we are FULL STEAM AHEAD with Sale-A-Bration…so please take advantage of this great opportunity!
Here is a “funny” for you!
Around 5 yesterday I went to the grocery store to pick up a couple of things…WOW – the parking lot was FULL….I walked in and there were no carts…..I really did not need much so I knew that I could carry it…I walked down the dairy aisle and someone was stocking the shelf so I decided to chat with him. I said, “Wow it looks like Christmas in the store”.….with it being soooooo busy.
He looked at me and said….
“There is a NFL event this weekend”
I thought that I would BURST out laughing….like REALLY – it is SUPERBOWL day!!!!! Did you all hear that Big George Bush is doing the coin toss….amazing as he was in the hospital just a week ago…..speaking of amazing – Luke is singing the National Anthem and I am sure Lady Ga-Ga will give us a colorful halftime show!
Let’s ALL have a great day!

I ADORE today’s stepped-up version – I am over-the-moon!! Great job and case I will! P.S. Not sure if you know it but tonight is the Super Bowl Game – lol!
YEAH – I am glad that you liked today’s card! I wish you would have seen my face when that guys said that to me!
Both versions are amazing. I love the frilly fun of the doily and twine!
I am usually not a doily gal…..but it worked!
Love the stepped up version, Susan!
Thanks Peggy – glad that you popped in!
You are a hoot Susan! You had me wondering if you were suppose to get snow (yea for snow) when you were talking with the grocery store guy. I laughed when I read the “There is a NFL event this weekend”!!! Oh yea, a football game! Then I read that “Luke” was singing. Well, who is Luke? So I had to look him up. I see he is going to be at Merriweather Post Pavilion this summer. Are you a groupie?!?!!?
Now about these fabulous cards. I am a clean and simple gal but once in a while I do like to go a bit froufrou. You have done a great job with the doilies! And the twine! Overall I am leaning toward Saturday’s card but they are both beautiful! Happy Super Bowl Sunday!
Oh Ramsey my friend…..you did not know who Luke was….I adore you and yes, I am a groupie – I am not a fan of Meriweather BUT he is playing at Jiffy Lube – and yep – we are going!
If it was snow coming…all we would need is Berger Cookies!
I’m with the others and choose today’s version. Both are great, but I love the doily with the yellow circle and twine. Loved your funny story. Have a super Sunday!!
Thanks HJ – I thought that the yellow circle broke it up a bit and allowed more interest to the linen! Thanks for the feedback!
I choose today`s card ! Love the So Saffron behind the doily and the Versa Mark spots that you added . I guess the Doilies will go on the list now because I did not pick up on the openness in the center to add some color behind !!!
Super Bowl and Snow Days create monster shopping bedlam here . It is the excitement of the event for us . Would you believe that I am actually the only person on the planet that hasn`t made the FAMOUS Queso Dip with the Velveeta and Rotel Tomatoes and Chilis !!! Today is the day !! Lady GaGa and Luke on the same day ….oh the wonder of it all !!
GO FALCONS !
I have not made the famous dip ever either! I totally think it looks like a winner but it is never picked as an option. We’re doing “white people food” this year instead of Mexican.
Oh Sonny…..you are the last reply tonight as my eyes are HEAVY and so is my heart! What the heck happened to Atlanta! I had to eat my words at the beginning of the 3rd quarter – I told John – well this is a boring game……
I will say that both Luke and Ga-Ga were great BUT Big George and Barbara – a CLASS ACT……sooooo sweet!
I love your step up version, very classy!! I did the class in the mail last night and loved all the cards. I ordered the stampers secret weapon and oh my I don’t know how I lived without it!! Thank you so much for sharing about it as it sure makes for a nice clear image.
I do not know what is going on about my comments I have left….I just went back and sooo many are gone! Anyway……I am thrilled that you liked the class and I am with you – LOVE that stampers secret weapon!
Love today’s stepped up version!!!! The doily is a sensational add!!!! Enjoy the game…..GoPats!!!!!
Well I am truly LOL!!! I am a huge football fan and always feel like it makes people a little bit more friendly. It gives them a little something to start a conversation. I also say this about the World Series. I sure hope the store clerk gets off work before the game begins. Sunny P, I have never made that concoction either. Go Falcons!
About the cards . . . I too like the stepped-up version better. I can’t say why, maybe it is a little softer with the doily and twine. It is always such a hard decision when they are side by side.
🙂
What?! Super Bowl is today?! LOL! That was a funny story. Sonny, I never made that dip either but I have eaten it and it is yummy! Susan,I like both versions…..doilies or dashes…..they each have that special something. Happy half time!
I am not on the fence today, I already had my outside adventure today. I went out to the get the paper in my flannel nightgown. The darn paper wasn’t there so I was already a bit ticked – if Mike doesn’t have his paper in the morning – Katie bar the door. He was not up anyway. I turned the glass/screen door knob to go back in and it came off in my hand. This has happened before more times than I can count. It usually slips back on and works. Of course not today. I fiddled for awhile. Rang the door bell and Teddy is on the other side of the glass looking at me and howling. Mike is dead to the world. I finally got the handle to catch and got in. Good thing as Mike did not get up until 3 hours later. Luckily it wasn’t super cold out and the sun was shining. We have a semi busy street but I don’t think anyone even noticed.
OK I really like both cards but today’s really stands out. You didn’t even do anything to his body or use Wink of Stella on the blue part of the wings. I love doilies and the linen thread as well as those dotted stamp splotches. My only thought was not so yellow (or saffron) for the center part. I would have liked a little lesser color, more neutral, as in maybe that Sahara sand or even the vanilla that is sponged with crumb cake or tip top taupe that goes with the linen thread. Or, maybe dirty up doily a bit with sponging. Oh good grief, do I have to break down and buy this set to play with and see why the saffron bothers me a bit? But, I still adore yesterday’s with the dotty dashes and clean look. Susan you are right that the card lends itself to several occasions – even a masculine birthday card maybe, depends on the guy.
OK football, I am with Chuck Todd today, “I am over this years game, and looking forward to next years, Go Pack!” Not a totally direct quote I don’t think but almost word for word if not. We will probably have it on and watch parts of it and maybe the whole game. Mike bought some cheese dip stuff and some pretzels. I know, boring. Who knows, I might go to the grocery store and get something more tasty to eat.
I left you a great comment before…but to sum it up – I would have done ANYTHING to be on your porch seeing this!
I like your stepped version a lot. I would say you made a junky card but you’d get the wrong idea, frou frou is the word. My friends call ’em junky cards when you get lots of things on there that work good together. We have lots of snacky foods lined up for the game. I’ll probably be in the craft room for most of it. Hubby displayed the food, opened the containers, and set things up nice. The cat keeps licking his chex mix display but what hubby doesn’t know won’t hurt him!
I like the term “junky” as I totally “get it” – to me that is when there is the fru-fru of the twine making is own nest!!!! You are sooo bad about the cat!!!
If anyone cares, I watched hours of the pregame, I forgot it was Houston and we lived in Houston before coming back to Iowa. It was fun to see some things again. I watched the first half and then Lady Gaga. Came up to change my clothes and see if I had any good E-mails. So, back down to watch more but I am taking my SU catalogs with me to look at too. We ended up ordering a pizza delivered. I guess I have no favorite to win in the game is my whole thing.
Judy, I think the word “collage” is maybe a better term. Junky is kind of a fun term though. Or eclectic maybe? It is not too frou frou or however it is spelled, as there really isn’t a lot of bling and silly embelishments for me.
DId you see Big George and Barbara?????? My heart was soooooo happy for them to be there! Darn, our ribs were great but I would ADORE a yummy pizza – John has a meeting so maybe I’ll treat myself tonight!
Yep, I saw them. I giggled at the sailor wheeling him and the golf cart with Barbara had to kick it in gear a few times to keep up. He told the doctor, nurses, and the press he had to get out of the hospital as he had a coin toss to do and by golly he was there! Our pizza was o.k. nothing outstanding but it was delivered hot and in less than 30 minutes. Of course we were part of the group who turned it off during the 3rd quarter. I did not have a favorite to win and was basically a bit bored at that moment. What happened to your big comments?
I have laughed so much at these comments ….Princess Judy`s got me started with the CAT AND THE SNACKS !!!!!
Loved the appearance of Barbara and Big George !!! And I am stunned at the game outcome !
Now I will go chat about that FOX on today`s card !!
I was out of town for the weekend, got home in time to watch the game so am just checking my fave blogs and catching up. Had to send some love for this card. I love love love both but especially the extra froufrou on Sunday’s. That’s stepping it up for sure! I plan to CASE it since I finished the cards in my kit from you!
What a difference a day makes, I love what you did and I thought Saturdays was great!
