I have been kind of quiet with the girls the past couple weeks so I thought that this would be a great addition to the card this weekend! Each and every time I see them, I crack up laughing as the expression on this one…says it all ~ I think it is the hair that does it!
I have to say, yesterday was fun. It is as simple as that.
We yacked so much…went to the ribbon store….went to lunch….back to my house…continued yacking and tried to attempt a make that Deb provided (she is soooo talented) but time was against us but have no fear – we have planned the trip to Richmond next month where we will pick up right where we left off!
Needless to say that they did not do the card for today but I will say that I asked them their thoughts and Deb chimed in and said, I think that the balloon would show up better if it were white…and so that is what I did and I LOVE IT! She was soooooooo right, the white just made it POP!
So…here you go, side by side you decide!
I am happy that I was able to showcase this stamp set below as I thought that many of you would have missed it in the catalog ( I am going to try to use another stamp from this set this week) to show you the versatility of if. When I see circles…which to me equal dots and dots make me happy – it is already a winner in my eyes!
Here is a close up for you. I did the same as yesterday with the balloon using the soft sky and night of navy. I am AMAZED at how easy it is to put the color behind the cut out balloon. Whomever designed these framelits did a fantastic job! I will say the other thing that I did that was “easy street” was that I cut out the balloon and I already had the adhesive on the back because I used Stick It adhesive sheets and WOW – that makes like even easier!
Now lets chat about to Phyllis…she is lovin’ her balloon ride! I used the aqua painter to give her some color (so saffron) and then that hair of hers….a total mess and just as it seems to be on trend to have odd color hair….I just did it in soft sky and then “highlighted” it with some marina mist (This is about as close as I will ever come to becoming a hairdresser) 😀
I just put a glue dot under that MOP OF HAIR and one on her neck and she is safe and secure! I think for sure yesterday’s card is going to Uncle George but today’s card…it’s going North to brighten one of my readers day!
One more look at Phyllis in her glory as she sails up, up & away…I will say – my pick…TODAY’S card as Deb was right – the white balloon really made the fun background that I made with the whisper white craft ink fun!
Did you also notice that I change the was I used the sentiment. Today I made it into a banner as I notched off the ends but the addition of the So Saffron accents made Phyllis stand out (and we all know she likes to stand out) 😆 (I can’t wait to hear what Chris R has to say about Phyllis today)
Here is what you love, the measurements. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions! This is one that I am going to make up in a bunch of different colors and I think that I am going to keep the sentiment the same as you can easily stamp a “Happy Birthday”….”Thinking of You”…..etc…in the inside!
- The card base is an vertical A-2 card, 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″ in Marina Mist
- The White mat is 4 1/8″ X 5 3/8″
- The Navy Mat is 3 7/8″ X 5 1/8″
- The Marina Mist is 3 3/4″ X 5″ and stamp in whisper white ink using the Playful Backgrounds Stamp
- The Banner is 3/4″ wide and then I matted it at 7/8″. I did stamp the sentiment and heat set it with white embossing powder.
- The accents are from the Subtles Enamel Shapes.
- The Balloon and sentiment are both from the amazing bundle, Lift Me Up!
Well, I did it…another 2 day post and I hope that I “Lifted you Up” This really is a great bundle and the color ideas are endless with being able to add color behind the detailed balloon.
Remember, this is the last month to grab a freebie from Sale-a-bration and also with an order of $75+ I will send you the whisper white craft ink! When I showed Jeanie the card yesterday she immediately said – where did that DSP come from….it is soooooo true, this stamp set really gives up an endless opportunity to make our our fun accented paper!
Enjoy the day and I hope that you are able to “lift someone up today” – random acts of kindness are ALWAYS the best!
Yes! How cute it that?! Great Job. Twice the fun!
Happy Sunday!
🙂
Thanks Nancy….I have had a ton of fun with this SAB Stamp!
OMG, Susan! Love this!! You are so talented!
You are too kind….I just love playing with paper!
Really like both cards, but adding that chicken on the second was brilliant. So adorable. Hey, Chick is my favorite SAB item. TFS
It makes me laugh every single time I see her….she reminds me of our dog Rosie….they both have crazy hair!
I can’t stop smiling over the addition of your chicken!
Dear Phyllis is taking a “birds eye view”
So, so cute! Phyllis makes me smile everytime too so today’s is my fave! The white balloon does pop more. Love the two-day sharings.
I am so glad that Deb pointed that put to me as the white did make a big difference. I am excited to play with other combinations to have a stash…..but trust me, Phyllis will be on board!!!!
Yup! Today’s is my fav! Love Phyllis’s “blue” hair! ?
Yesterday was so fun…….I can’t wait to play with Easter Eggs….maybe we can incorporate Phyllis somehow!
Phyllis is on her way to Walmart in her Jammies !! Really cute and today`s card is my choice ! I have to agree with the white balloon . It all comes down to how much versatility you get with colors .
Which I would like for you to do a post on using that White Craft Pad in various ways and cards !! That would be a bonus !! I like the stamp set that you used because I have it and the White CP. But being the Stamping Wizard that you are I am sure there are other ways to play with this WHITE ! Maybe I should say Wizardess ??/
…
Sounds like your Saturday was a lot of fun !!
Yep….she is on her way to Walmart….and you know what – she would fit in! Tomorrow I am going to play with a technique with the white ink…If I figure it out and it is a keeper in my eyes – I will blog about it later in the week! Saturday was fun!
Phyllis is one chick that deserves to fly high! She is adorable. Love today’s card.
Thanks Robyn, I agree she is ONE HOT CHICK!!! We sure have been having fun with her and her friends. I still need to do a card with the 4th one!
The card is soo fun and cute. Anyone receiving it would get a smile on their face. I like the addition of Phyllis, white balloon, and banner sentiment. Great job.
I am super glad that I did the switch for the white balloon. That is what is fun about this whole stampin’ thing we do….asking and learning. When Deb said that to me…the light-bulb went off! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.
Great two day series (always enjoy them). Today’s card definitely pops using the white card stock, but adding Phyllis was the clincher……winner winner chicken dinner!!!!
Awe…Phyllis is lovin’ the attention….so much that her hair turned blue!!!
Seriously, did ANYone think you’d add Phyllis to “step it up”? Really cute and so clever. The white balloon DOES pop; great to see the 2 cards side by side. I like them both but with or without our favorite chickie, I prefer today’s card. Thanks for another great post.
Usually on Saturday’s I get lots of great guesses as to what I would do next….to be honest with you – I was just sent an AMAZING card that had Phyllis’s head on the edge of the envelope and I thought it was sooooo darn cute. I knew how much it made me smile….so I thought – how about adding that after fussy cutting! She is a hoot.
Awesome and clever! Adding Phyllis in the balloon is brilliant! Never would have guessed it. She makes me smile and then I think of all the fun we had naming her….right Chris R? Glad you had a fun day yesterday…enjoy today as well?
Yes, that was soooooo fun about the naming game! I still need to do the other gal…I hope that Chris will get her “witty hat” on and help us! Take care of yourself!
Susan,I love both cards. I really love the Sunday’s version a little better. The white balloon makes it pop. Phyllis is so adorable, she is having a ball. I love the extra details. You are truly amazing,Hugs to my friend. I am so glad you had such a great time with your friends. Thanks for sharing your talent with all of us. Ellen Hinds
Thanks Ellen….I swear, every time I see you name on a comment an instant smile comes to my face. I thought that you would like this touch – I know it is a bit goofy but it surely is a smile make…just like you!
Love the circles, looks like printed DSP. It’s funny how color changes can make something on a card pop. I think adding Phyllis adds fun and cheer to the card. Cute idea!
RIGHT!!!! I think that those simple circles are sooooo fun! I just had a brainstorm…I have that fish stamp – this might be a perfect addition to have with the fish…thoughts????
When I first saw the stamp set in the catalog, I thought of fish right away and then my second thought was Lawrence Welk and his champagne bubbles. I thought it would make a cool background for a New Year’s card done in gold embossing powder. I even thought one of the swooshes or swipes in upper right hand corner of the set looked like a fish sort of a minnow looking little fellow. The stripes reminded me of algae as well. Guess what, I am reading a book that is staged on the shore over by Martha’s Vineyard or someplace similar. I guess all that sea air was getting to me! Of course I told myself I had no reason to really get that set when there are so many other sets I want. The solid circles could have been pearls or caviar? Do I have a vivid imagination or what?
Love the addition of Phyllis! I really liked yesterday’s card, but side by side today’s card wins hands down.
I know…it was Phyllis as she steals the show! Funny how a crazy chicken can do this! Thanks for popping in!
Susan, you always crack me up with “Phyllis”…she’s having a blast up in that balloon! And I still say I love those circles on the background…I’m partial to those as well. Hugs and have a wonderful day!
Oh no….Phyllis is getting so much attention that she will be lovin’ this and not lay any eggs…..she is so carefree and having fun….something that we all should do. Thanks for your cooment!
OMG… Todays’s card is too stinkin’ cute!!! Phyllis is adorable, love the white, and you picked the perfect sentiment to go with this cray chicken!!!! That’s probably how I would look in a hot air balloon! LOL Love your “DSP” LOL as Will Smith said….”I’m going to have to get me one of these!” Looks like that playful stamp set will be on my next order!
Phyllis is a bit cray-cray…kinda like you and I! Just wait to our road trip to Richmond…I have a feeling that we are going to be making eggs and laughing the whole time – can’t wait!
That stamp, Playful patterns is a sleeper in the catalog….just think of all of the different backgrounds you could make…hang tight as you will see more.
Oh I just Love today’s card, Susan! What a hoot! Love the white, love Phyllis, way too funny! Super cute card! I’m a hairdresser, BTW! Tee Hee~ Hugs
YOU ARE….can I come and be an apprentice for just one day???? I would just love to have a pair of scissors in my hands and chop….chop!!!!! My poor dogs are my only models!!!! YEAH FOR PHYLLIS!
Houston we have a problem. I have two questions: 1. Is Phyllis flying solo or is the pilot kneeling in the gondola basket for some reason (praying since chickens can’t fly normally?) 2. Who is driving the chase vehicle – I am not sure if Henrietta can drive let alone fit in the driver’s seat. I have enough problems with short legs and arms and can’t drive Mike’s pick up. I won’t even go there about the big bootie! Or, is Farmer Smith driving the chase vehicle with Henrietta helping? Lets hope there is no fire when the blast of air heats up to make the balloon go higher or Phyllis will be fried chicken! Some how this reminds me of Lucy and Ethel in the chocolate factory!
Well, now for the card – I really am amazed at the difference in the white balloon vs. yesterday’s. I like the sentiment yesterday but it needs the enamel shapes. Maybe I just don’t want the banner so big as it is stealing center stage and we all know Phyllis is the center of attention. Love the hair and your comment about being a beautician! My hair would either be flying all over or stuck to my head. Of course we know I would pick today’s card. It took me a long time to really make a comment as I kept clicking in just to smile. Now, that the card is not coming west but going north, I am a bit sad.
I must say….I have been waiting to see your comment! I feel asleep last night when I started to reply to comments…not sure why but my energy level has been sooooo low, I needed a good night sleep and I did it!
I knew that you would have a zinger on this one!!! Poor Henrietta is in the basket probably about to lay a dozen eggs because Phyllis is making her soooooo hot! How would you feel if someone was standing in your head!
Now I need to do something with that last chick…time is running out with SAB and these chicks need all of the air time that they can get!
I have no idea why, but when I looked to see the last chicken I thought of an old teacher I had who was truly old then – Dorothy Horsley. I have no idea how or why she popped into my head. She was one of my 4th grade teachers. I would say she looked like one of my 5th grade teachers but she looked like George Washington in the face and trust me neither were a pretty sight! We could go with Effie since you and I had Effies in our lives. Or Rosie is a good name for a chicken, I guess it is, not that I really personally know any chickens. She doesn’t really look like a busy body like Henrietta did – maybe she looks like she is focused on eating rather than gossiping. Well, if she was of Italian decent we could call her Giada since Giada has a cooking show and is focused on food though I think she only eats one bite of everything she fixes to be so skinny. If she had a string of pearls on I would think of Barbara or Babs for short. How about Toots or Tootsie?
To think Mike wants to know what I do all day as I get nothing done around the house!
I love both cards but, the stepped up one the most. TFS Chris ( above comment) has me laughing in the floor. If I could print this out, I’d use when I’m feeling blue! Thanks Susan and Chris for the laugh. God Bless you both!
Thanks for the comment and I agree….Chris R certainly does know how to make you laugh and I cannot tell you how many times that I might be a bit “blue” – that I think of a comment that she has left and I just crack up laughing!
I wish that these blogs were “live” on a video as wouldn’t it be the best to have her take over the show for a day! Love her to pieces and many thanks for your time in popping onto my blog!
Oh heavens I probably wouldn’t have a thing to say if I was on camera! Of course, then Ted would take over whining and maybe howling. He thinks it is always about him, I would have to have one of those happy faces on a stick to put in front of my face like on that one commercial for some medication. I am very moody and down in the dumps a lot and this is therapy for me – making me feel good by making others smile or laugh! Let’s see I could prop Mike’s blue overalls with his gold T-shirt up with a pillow or two for his stomach and we would have him in the picture! We have a photo of us with Obama on the wall here and you should see my hair – it is plastered to my head and my eyes are all red and goopy from allergies. I have a faint smile but it looks like I am ready to cry. Mike has the goofy look on his face but it is an excellent photo of Obama! It was one of our 100 degree days with high humidity. Now I see why I don’t like my picture taken! I guess we could do a comment day?!? Until then, maybe you can “pin” some of my stories or quips or store them some how.
The chicken is quite the addition! Love it. Thanks for making me smile today.
That Phyllis….she is a trend setter!
That is sooo cute, Susan! Makes me feel like I need that balloon set 🙂 You always make my day!
I will say…I honestly do not know why I had not played with it sooner. If it is just the balloon image you like – just get the framelits as they do so much but I will say, the stamp set does have some keeper images and when you can get the 10% discount as a bundle…I say go for it if you can!!!
LOVE the “chicken in a basket” I’ve been resisting, but you and Phyllis have convinced me I need the balloons. Thanks for a good smile!
That is a GREAT comment….”chicken in a basket” – now that is a winner-winner chicken dinner comment! Thank YOU for the smile.
OK folks, I added some comments intermingled amongst the comments so you will just have to reread some of these. I threw out some names for the 4th chicken. Gee, after I came up with the name GIada I am wanting some Chicken Parmesan! I see the set is also in French – now that could be fun. I saw my friend Giselle at the grocery store last week and that sounds French but I am unsure if that is how she spells her name – it seems she has more letters to it. Wouldn’t that be a hoot to have her be a French chicken (so she would be a fricassee) and have the sentiment Have a Happy Day in French to go with it? She doesn’t have a beret though.
Hate to say it Susan, but the comments are outshining your post! Not your card though. This one is snort worthy (like laugh and snort milk through your nose–so unladylike). I like the white balloon better and now I need that background set, you evil enabler you!
