Happy Memorial Day Weekend! I have a SUPER simple card for you today but a card that has a BIG punch with the quote! By now you all know that I adore sentiment stamps and as I have learned from my fearless leader and friend, Mary Fish….I take her words of wisdom to heart. She shared with me…when in doubt – go with the sentiment sets. (That link that I hyperlinked for Mary is a video that she has today on her blog about making a perfect bow and ironically…we are using the same stamp!)
This stamp set, Just Add Text is a NEW stamp on the block and it is definitely an “A list” stamp. (that means…it’s a keeper) 😀 Just look at the 6 amazing sentiments in this set. I think that you can quickly see the possibilities of many cards.
There are a couple factors that make my heart skip a beat when I am creating….this card has many of those elements…
- I love white space (or heck, Very Vanilla space) as I think that there is something clean and oh so classic about it!
- I love clean lines….the stitched framelits add just a wee bit of pizzazz but still keep it super clean
- I love layers…to me, layers are like that extra dollop of icing! It just “feels good” when you hold it in your hand
- I love fun and practical ribbon….this is a new one that is just beautiful. You all are going to go nuts with the ribbon selection in the new catalog….remember to check out my Product Shares…
- I love a card that less WORKS and this card is a perfect example of that! 😉
There is also something super special on a monochromatic card. I invite you to try to stick to one color or color family. For many, it is a challenge and they simply do not like the “restrictions” but I think that it is very impactful……
For the ribbon, I first anchored it down with the Fast Fuse and then added a bow on the front secured with a simple glue dot. I think that the stitching on the ribbon and then the stitching on the framelit just makes this card – it is as SIMPLE as that!
Now may I ask you….are you smiling with the fun Polka Dot Paper? It is just adorable and it is from the Birthday Memories DSP Collection and this is a super unique paper offering for Stampin’ Up! as there are framelits that match many of the designs on the paper.
Because I am working with a limited supply if the new DSP’s that are in the new catalog….I found this one and it actually turned out perfectly. Just think – this time next week you will be able to order any of these products!
There you have it….a super simple card that carries a big message. I would not feel guilty one bit that this card literally took minutes to pull together. You betcha that whomever is lucky enough to receive it will be clickin’ their heels!
I hope to see you back tomorrow to see what is up my sleeve – it will be totally different so be prepared!
John and I are probably picking Strawberries while you are reading this with your coffee. We love doing that but we really – REALLY love when it is Blueberry season….(that will be in about 3 weeks) There is something so rewarding and fun to go into a field and pick fresh fruits and vegetables and then coming home and enjoying them.
Speaking of enjoying….I hope that you enjoy your day whatever you are up to and be safe if you are traveling!

This card to me is perfect! I agree….love the simplicity of the clean lines and the single color. You rocked it, Susan! Have fun strawberry pick’ with the hubs.?
You me….SIMPLE is my middle name…(ha-ha) – ask my peeps!
What a fantastic clean and simple card! I’m going to get that ribbon in every color available!
I know….I know….the RIBBON IN THE NEW CATALOG is just insane – I can’t wait!
Ahhhhh, your card is so clean and relaxing to look at! Love it!!!!! What a beautiful morning to be picking strawberries!!!
It was but having some berries with Berger Cookies would even be better! ROAD-TRIP!!!! Heck – my peeps are at my Dad’s on the shore…..I should ask them to stop and pick me up some! Now that sounds like a greta idea….RIGHT????
Just love today’s card! And, after completing a stack of black-and-white cards, I’ll echo the pleasures of a monochromatic palette. I was thrilled when a friend asked me to do cards for kids in her daughter’s graduating class, whose parties they would be attending. And then she said, “… and I want them to be only black and white,” which are the school colors here in our town. Gulp… “not even a tiny bit of …?” I asked. “No,” she said sweetly but firmly. Fortunately I had a few weeks to work on them. Well, after walking in circles, mentally and actually, for several days, I said to myself, “just do it already!” I dug out every bit of B&W paper in my stash (including SU silver glimmer paper which became balloons), every B-or-W do-hickey (buttons, etc) I could find, lace, ribbons, white pipe cleaners for flower stems and white silk flower petals which became leaves, (and some Tim Holtz inspiration bars, which helped immensely since these were mostly “built” not stamped fronts)–and just dug in. If I do say so myself, they are among the best work I’ve done. Even better, was the feeling of satisfaction. It was a challenge I would not have given myself, but I really am grateful that it was handed to me! (Or forced upon me)
Oh my Gosh…..I am going to have to tell Jeanie to check out your comment. She was just telling me on Friday that she needed to make a bunch of Graduation Cards for a customer that had the same wishes – JUST 2 COLORS!!!!
I am so proud of you ….you took on the challenge and made it work – WAY TO GO…..I would love to see what you made….you are sooo talented – I STILL have that pear card….
This is a super card!!! I love the simplicity even though I know it isn’t ever that simple!!!! I love love love the new ribbon!!!! Enjoy the pickings!!!
Now Ann…this IS a simple card. IT is a keeper because of the basics – you can never go wrong with the classics! Thanks for popping in!
Such a sweet card today! I love its simplicity. Enjoy those strawberries ?!
I have to say, I agree. This is a card that can go for soooooo many different cards we would send!
You always make “white space” so chic. This card packs a real punch–and I LOVE that ribbon!
White space is our friend. I know that there are times that it is a challenge to have and there are times that we feel like we need to add more and more….but I really mean this – stand back and just look – sometimes less just works!
Great card. To step it up, no idea but since you said it will be totally different – maybe the cool polka dots on the card? I guess I am still thinking about the strawberries and a great strawberry shortcake with some vanilla ice cream on it. In other words I like this card berry much as is!
can you say…..BINGO!!!! You nailed it – come back and see!
Pacific Point is one of my favorites ! That CUTE ribbon really impacts how pretty this blue and white theme is on your card . Great sentiment ,but I can`t put too much into it considering the author is into self mutilation !!!
This card is complete so I am really curious about a STEP UP ????
I will say….every time I use Pacific Point I think of you…..I know that this color is one of your favorites and I will say, I do not use it as much as I need to. It is co clean and crisp! Happy weekend!!!!
Would this sentiment fit inside the easel in the Painter’s Pallet stamp set? It would look fun if it did and then maybe one of the pens or the container of brushes from the new crafting set. Those ideas might be fun to try with a step up that is totally different. Just don’t include an ear in the picture. It was an ear wasn’t it Sonny?
GREAT IDEA……I will have to check into that!!!! I sure hope so as that would be a blue ribbon winner!
YES, Chris ….it was his ear ! I am not sure I would put much thought into anything he quoted . He was a NUT case !!
Ha might have been a nut case…..but you have to admit – it is a great quote and also the font of this sentiment is great!
Check me out! I remembered to look at Simple Saturday’s post BEFORE Stepped Up Sunday! This is crisp and classic. That ribbon! I wondered about it when I saw it mentioned… now I see it in action and it is every bit as cool as I suspected it was. So less than a week before we can start to elbow each other for new goodies??!!
