Tuesday are the days that I love to share with you a tip that will make you say….“That’s a great idea”…or something like “That would work for me” etc….and this is one that I hope that many of you will think about and say – Why didn’t I think of that and I am going to HOP ON IT!
Each and every year I get emails from people asking if I have a refill for a color that has been discontinued and I will share with you what I do.
When we have NEW COLORS come out (like our upcoming NEW In Colors) and I do buy the ink pads and I buy the refills. The way that I look at it is that I naturally need the ink pads to show and share with you the colors on my blog and I do buy the refills because I do find that I need to re-ink over the 2 years that the colors are available and also I use them for different techniques.
Below is a video that shares a technique using re-inkers. I ask you – have you ever tried this? Hmmmmm….I think that I need to do a post on it…..whatcha think?
I say…if you do not own the ink pads in the In Colors that are retiring…I say – this is a great solution to get them without breaking the bank or how about this – if you have a stamping friend – share the refills between yourselves as I am sure that you have DSP that has these colors in them.
I know that many people love the size of the “spots” as they are super handy to have on the go and YEP – these are the sizes of the cubes that are in the Paper Pumpkin. They are sooooooo cute!
Now let’s talk about cute 🙂 …..here is a picture that I just had to snap as I walked through the family room…we have some “Horse Neighbors” that use our riding ring and here are Milo and Rosie perched up on the sofa watching them out the window!
Now I say….life is rough for my fur babies….it is just not worth continually saying….off the couch when they seem so comfy! Have a great day and HIT THAT PAW PRINT and take me up on this tip!
p.s. – Sonny and Chris….I know…I know – Milo is a bit “bottom heavy” but my “perfect boy” has the abs of steel to not fall off the pillow!
Good Morning Susan, I try to buy the refils too. The lighter colors seem to need more re-inking in my opinion, but I have always been drawn to the Regals anyway.
Rosie and Milo look so cute. I just got a new couch on Saturday. I’m trying very hard to keep the grandpup off of it. I admit is is very hard. I know we will probably give in. Buying some couch covers/protectors today!
Happy Tuesday
🙂
What a cool technique and I cannot wait to give it a try! The Milo & Rosie pic make my heart sing…… There is no such thing as spoiled puppehs tho. Thanks for sharing and wishing you a fabulous day!
Whenever I buy an ink pad I, too, buy the re-inker ( learned the hard way). We did this technique at a class back a few. Lots of fun and messy but the end result was so cool. Super cute pup pic and I love Milo’s bottom!
What fun! I love really getting into a mess and shaving cream is so clean/messy!? As for Milo and Rosie, I agree with Debbie, no such thing as spoiled pups! For all,the unconditional love they give they deserve to nothing but the best! Enjoy the sun but stay warm out in the wild west!
Thanks for the tip. LOVE the picture of your “fur family”!
Yes, I love my Refills and I am so glad we have the uninked cubes now ! The cubes or as we use to call them Stampin Spots are great to use on small stamps ,sentiments and especially with Misti . Love the shaving cream projects although I have not done it in awhile mostly because it is messy ,but fun and some results are really pretty ! This is one of the projects that you do a bunch of CS pieces and file them away for future use . See Susan ….you are rubbing off on me (southern expression for influencing) ! Came up with another idea when I was doing some cards using your weekend layout . Use your old dsp Swatch book pieces for the left side dsp on that layout !!
Lastly ….love that picture ! Milo`s bottom is just spread out (do not mention the word FAT in front of him ) while he does Watch Dog Duty ! You never know when one of those horses might try to attack your house !
You had not seen a big bottom until you have seen Ted’s spread out! The one vet assistant says it is not all fat but part fluff. whatever. One of the tourists walking by to his car this weekend saw us on the porch and came up to say he has a basset hound and his name is Mr. Rumples for the “wrinkly panty hose look on the front legs-like Ted” and big booty!
I never ever thought I would use up the ink in a stamp pad in a “coon’s age” – how’s that term for you Sonny!?! So, I had never bought refills. But, the black was the first to go and Cherry Cobbler was next so I now own some refills. This year I did get the retiring ones early! I was one of the late people last year. I am not sure if I want to just use the spots for the new in colors or maybe a combination. I can see me using the Tranquil Tide the most I need to get some of that grid paper. I used to take the CTMH grid paper home to reuse as she usually just put the sheets in the recycle bin after we used them. I used those until they were ripped and well used. Now do I want the regular SU grid paper sheets or the cute Paper Pumpkin ones?
I have not done the shaving cream technique with paper but we did that with fabric fat quarters for a charity quilt once. It does make a mess, that is for sure. We were at a shelter house in the park so it wasn’t so bad!
Brilliant tip and easy on the budget. Love the pups on the couch!
Love the photo of the guard dogs on duty. I made sure I had the reinker to Mint Macaron once its retirement was announced. I don’t have reinkers to the other colors I own yet (Maybe black?). I figure I’ll wait until the 4th quarter when sales are slow and then pick them up.
I have to run and hide whenever people pull out the shaving cream technique. People always use that cheap cream for it (Barbisol?) and the smell of that stuff makes my nose RUN…. run…. run away. So I’ve never tried it but it truly looks messy.
Oh yeah, another reason I wasn’t too in tune with this…the smell of the shaving cream got to me. Does anyone know if there is something we can use that doesn’t smell? I remember I ended up using a piece of the fabric and making a mask for my nose as it ran as well as my eyes. Wouldn’t you know my squares turned out the coolest with the swirls so several wanted me to do theirs. I had no idea of what I was doing but my colors of swirls were the best I was told. I think I used a lot of color and that made the difference. Whatever…..
