Welcome to the August 2017 Pals Blog Hop. Thank you so much for joining us today. This month we’re going to “Cut It Out”. Participants will feature projects with “cuts” from punches, dies, Framelits, Edgelits, or Thinlits.
Whether you’re just starting the hop, or have come from a previous Pal’s blog, you’ll find the line-up toward the end of my post to help you move along.
Happy Hop & Hump Day to YOU!!!
The PALS monthly Blog Hop is always a day of sunshine and inspiration and I am sure that today is no different! Have fun hopping from Blog to Blog and I suggest that you be a sponge and soak it all up!
I was super excited about this theme as I think that Stampin’ Ups! “Cut it out” stuff is the best! We have so many options and today…I went for many – the trimmer, Mr. Big, Framelits and still more framelits ….DRUM ROLL…a NEW punch! WOOT-WOOT….I think that I hit them all!
At the end of the post you will see the whole line up of products! I am going to keep this post short ’cause you have a bunch of hoppin’ to do and let the pictures tell the story…I adore simple shapes…and today – it is totally hip to be square!
The focal sentiment is from the Ribbon of Courage Bundle. Now let’s quickly chat about this font….is it OVER THE TOP or what?! Not only is the sentiment amazing but the whole “feel” of it just makes you smile!
Are you smiling? I bet that you are thinking….this is hard?!?! Now take a deep breath and then look at it. It is all about the basics….sometimes I feel like the elements to my cards are so boring as I really use the “basics” over and over….but that is how I roll.
I think that we can all agree that the Stampin’ Trimmer is one great tool. I adore it. I would not be with out it. I admit, I have many….actually MANY trimmers as I think that there are trimmers that have many different uses but this one…I always go back to. It is a classic…it does everything you would need….scoring and cutting – what more could you ask for!
These squares are 1 1/8″ squares and here are 3 things that make it happen: A ruler, a mechanical pencil and an eraser. (again, basics) Take a gander at the below picture and then below you will see the “works” of the how did she do it?
Another key product that I used that made this project fun and easy was using the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets. These ARE a must have for all of us. All you do is adhere it to the back of your paper….cut it out (as I did today with the trimmer) or you can use it with the big shot and framelits.
One of the reasons that I like this product is the ease of perfect placement and the ability to move the piece until I get it “just right” and then PRESS and PRESTO….it’s adhered!
How do you like these colors together? They are right up my alley. Clean, crisp and classic! Can you see how mixing a bunch of “cutting products” just seems to work! Please do not be afraid…just try it but please remember that it is the basic tools that make it work.
If you are new to stamping….welcome, you have a new addiction. The best advice I can give you is…get the basics – they WILL be your friend and when in doubt – pull them out….they are your friends…they will be your lifeline!
Before you HOP ON…..do you see the leaf punch? WOOT-WOOT….it is a newbie in the upcoming catalog and it is part of a bundle and YEP, you need it! I am giving you heads up….’cause it is a keeper! I know that you might think that it is crazy to have it in So Saffron but WHY NOT….So Saffron makes everything better! (I love that color)
I hope that you are smiling and I would love to hear how you like my project for you today! Yikes…so much to say but I am out of time….(how about this ribbon???) I admit that when I saw this Navy Crinkled Ribbon I was not sure about it but boy was I wrong…it makes the most AMAZING bows!
OK – that’s it from me….I do hope that I brought some inspiration to your day and I hope that I shared with you that sticking with the basics is the way to go. I am a simple card maker and this layout….YEP, is my cup of tea (even thoughI am a coffee drinker) 😀
Please take a minute to mark your calendar for our next hop on September 13, 2017 for “My Favorite Season”. Now hop along using the Blog Hop Line-up below. Blog Hop Line-up:
I love your style and this card is so you with classic colors! I am so excited about the new leaf punch!
Thanks my friend….WOW – you of all people were UP early…..or maybe you were just getting ready for bed from a stampin’ night of fun! The punch is fun and fast….just like I like it!
This is a classic and yet unexpected! So it’s perfect!! A super card❤
You just can’t go wrong with shapes…..they are classics and “just work” – Thanks for popping in!
Susan, This card is so beautiful, I love everything about this card.,The colors, the font on the words. The ribbon is so pretty. The envelope is so sweet. You are amazing.Hugs,Ellen Hinds
I agree that this color combination is pretty special! Truth be told…I am in the “throws” of making my monthly kit and this is the color scheme that I am using as well as the stamp set and I thought…WHY NOT??? Go ahead and make a different version to show the people that are getting the kit another way to use the stamp set! I just adore this font….
Beautiful card and thanks for the picture showing all the ends and outs. So clever.
I have a question about the Adhesive sheets. I purchased them and used part of one with the Peel Here to easily remove it. Now I cannot use the rest of the sheet because I cannot get it off the backing. Any tips? To me it is not user friendly! Thanks.
Oh no Doris but if this makes you smile…here you go – I did the SAME THING the 1st time I used this as well….when you peel back to expose the sticky side….just place the size of cardstock that you need and then put the release paper back and trim away just the area that you will use….
I hope that this makes sense…..maybe I should do a quick video!?!?
A video would be great!
Great classic card and the colors are perfect together. Love this stamp set. I ditto Doris D’s question regarding the adhesive strip tip. Thanks and have a great day!
O.K. – DONE…I think that I will do a video of next Tuesday Tips! I just went to the Stampin Up You Tube Channel and I did not see a product preview one for it…so I guess you’ll have to put up with my video!!!! (tee-hee-hee)
CUT it out! Love your card, Susan! You have created another beauty! I have a tip for the above comments on the Adhesive Sheets, if you don’t mind my barging in! Before using the sheets, take a craft knife and lightly score the back of the sheet in several places. That way, when you cut it to use on a project, there will be a place to grab the backing and peel it off. Does that make sense? Hopefully that will be helpful!
That is such a good idea Karen. Will certainly try that. Thanks!
Karen…I burst of laughing with the 1st sentence of your comment – perfect for the theme of the hop!
A BIG thanks for the tip….I will try that – I now think I read Doris’ ? the wrong way….I thought that she peeled off the whole paper for just a little bit of adhesive that she wanted to use….
I am going to try what you said but I think I will do a video….I just love when we can help one another….thanks Karen!!!!
Susan, those lovely layers are perfect! Your mix of colors really makes those little yellow leaves pop. Awesome!! Thanks for sharing ?
Thanks Jennifer…this is a great hop and a theme that is right up our alley!!!!
Great card. I purchased the crinkle ribbon in green and am loving it. I agree that it is so workable. It has been a super coordinate for summer; will have to get more for the holidays.
I admit…in the pictures when it cam out…I was a skeptic but WOW was I WRONG! I was afraid that it was going to be such a messy and untidy look but it is a DREAM MACHINE to work with!
I am going to add some to my Ribbon Share Offering as it is THE BOMB!!!
Love the cool crisp colors of this card!!! Winner, winner!! ??
Excited to check out today’s blog hop.
I hope that you are ready to craft after you HOP AWAY as there are some AMAZING projects today! Thanks for POPPING it!
Love your color choices and the squares in the background! Beautiful work, Susan!
Thanks Mary….I just love the simplicity of the layout…clean, crisp lines!
What a classic card! I love everything about this card, right down to that envelope, but I think those squares in the background make the whole card just sing!
I guess you can say….It’s HIP to be SQUARE!
Great colors — they pop against each other! Just love all the cut-out dimension. I cannot WAIT for my leaf punch to arrive. I always love seeing your beautiful cards, Susan!
The punch is great and the punch is FAST! Win-win for me!!!! I know that it might be a bit wonky to have yellow leaves but after all….it’s all about pulling and popping color together! You will love this punch!
Great color combinations…one of my all time favorites navy and green! Great interpretation.
I can see the “trio of fun” making this up! It is a layout that you could make and just leave off the sentiment until you know what type of card that you are sending….works for me!
Beautiful card, Susan. I love the color combo, the squares, ribbon, font of the sentiment and the yellow leaves, which seem to soften it a bit. Great job!
You are soooo right and I did not think of it in that way! I like to use a trio of colors together and with the boldness of the navy and green – maybe I was smart to go with the softness of the So Saffron…..I just picked it because I adore!!!
What size is your card? I’m trying to work it out with 1-1/4″ square pieces of cardstock and I run out of room on an A2 card. Your card is so perfect, I want to CASE it! TIA.
It is a regular A-2 Card…..when I started with the square placement….the white piece was 5 1/2 ” X 4 1/4″ and then the squares being 1 1/8″ gave me the placement and then I trimmed off a wee bit off of each side…..
YIKES – After just measuring and typing this….I see that you are saying 1 1/4″ squares…..I am SOOOOO SORRY – I told you the WRONG SIZE but I went back in and changed it in the post….the SQUARES ARE 1 1/8″….
SILLY SUSAN….on our trimmer it is 1″ and 1 space over = 1 1/8″ – sorry if I caused you gray hairs….
Beautiful card Susan! Thanks for info on the adhesive sheets. I was hesitant to try them because I wasn’t sure if they were repositionable until you pressed them down. Now I know they are a “must have”!!!
Oh yes…oh yes…they are a MUST HAVE because they are a time saver and make delicate details a breeze as you can reposition them before they are DOWN FOR LIFE!
Love the color combination! Just a great card all the way around plus that wonderful envelope. That ribbon with that bow is just the best! Who doesn’t need a card like this once in awhile. The card is as special as you are! Hey, a little brown nosing doesn’t hurt once in awhile! I hope my comment made someone smile as much as the recipient of the card will do.
I am smiling….
This is beautiful, Susan! I love the little dots around the leaves! I always think of you when I see those!
I do love my dots…thanks for popping in – I am super excited to see what you are going to do with the chandelier framlit…as I always think of you with Halloween and the fun of that season!
You were definitely hip with your squares! Great job!
Thanks SU…the PALS are rockin’ this hop!
Beautifully done and such a striking color combination!
Hello SUNSHINE from AZ…..Thanks for being in the house and way to go for winning the TTT Challenge….LOVED the card!
that blue and green together is rockin’!! And those squares are perfectly placed. Great card!
When you have a ruler…a great product like the adhesive sheets….magic can happen!
Wow, what a good eye you have lining these squares up so perfectly. Love all the elements that went into making this such a striking card.
Hello my friend and thanks for the comment – I think we need a therapy day of stampin’……how about it??? Hugs to you and a squeeze to that dear little Charlie! I am sure you are BEAMING!!!
Beautiful card, love your color combo!
Such a awesome card! You always know hope to make a beautiful card!
