A pleasant surprise….

IMG_4206

Do you remember yesterday that I shared with you 2 things?!?!?

  1. I was going to showcase you this week that there was a product that I was wowed by at Leadership that was totally "NOT SUSAN"
  2. I was getting together with my friend and super talented Jeanie as she was in total disbelief that it was a "keeper"…..

This is it and it is from the Spring Occasions Catalog….in a million years – I would never of given it a 2nd look unless I had seen it in person – I was wowed!!!

What is it….it is….

The Burlap and Blooms Simply Created Wreath Kit!

Not only did we have a fun time together….we laughed and I heard many times….WOW – this is really cute…this is really fun…..this is really beautiful!

The funniest thing was that I ended up going to her house….and she has the MOST AMAZING "craft area"… and my dear John called and said…did you realize that it is snowing…..!!!!! Amazing how you can get caught up in simple and pure fun!

Here are pictures of both Jeanie's and mine…isn't it fun to see how fun but different they are ….we had a blast! (and her daughter made peanut buter cookies – YUMMERS!!!!)

The end result is that that we had fun!

IMG_4207

You can see that Jeanie's flowers are "looser" than mine, and truthfully I prefer them this way…it was just fun to be together and have our own "interpretation" of what was in the kit!

IMG_4203

The best thing is that EVERYTHING is in this kit and it is just $17.95…but I will suggest that you have a hot glue gun! It made life s fast and easy!

Here are some close up's of the flowers….it really is a beautiful wreath and I encourage you to "think out of the box" and purchase one to make someone's day! This is a PERFECT gift to give to someone's office….someone in a nursing home…for your "creative space of inspiration" as you will see in the below pictures how I took it to the next level and added some "Susan touches"

IMG_4209

Don't you just love computers and a printer! I used our Whisper White Paper and used "Word" to make this simple sentiment! Using So Saffron and Smokey Slate and a "simple tear towards you" does the magic!

These are the added touches that I added – but they are not necessary…the kit has it all….sticky strip on the flowers…..seriously the only thing that is helpful is a hot glue gun!

IMG_4216

IMG_4218

IMG_4217

Today is Monday….and I will PROUDLY be hanging this on my office door and super excited to have some "wreath classes" ….what a perfect time with Sale-a-bration!

Plese feel free to email me and also PLEASE pop back tomorrow with a BIG cup of coffee…why? It is the PALS Blog Hop and there is a "bunch of us hopping" as we will be "show-casing" the things we love about Stampin' Up!

I hope that you enjoyed this "different" post from me….but I can honestly say that it was super fun to put together and when John saw the end result – he said  "Can you make one for my Mom"…

Missioned accomplished…!!!!

Until tomorrow!

A Valentine Pencil that will make you smile!

IMG_4142

I hope that you find this post as cute as I do! They are so much fun to make up and once “you’ve got it” they are a cinch to make a bunch up!

I am sooooooo guilty for picking up pens at work – it seems like everyday someone will walk in my office and ask me if happened to take their pen….and usually – I am “guilty as charged” So….this is what I am giving my co-workers for a little goodie for Valentines Day!

How simple and cost effective! (Rolo’s are on sale this week where I live for .89 a roll and then I just purchase the Hershey kisses in the bulk aisle so I don’t have to buy a whole bag)

IMG_4140

Sorry for the amount of photos….but I know that they help! (another reason that I need to do videos) I know that this idea has been “down the pike” many times but I found the instructions that this gal posted last year and when I went to find it for you….she just updated it yesterday – CLICK HERE to see her adorable pencils!

I have followed her guide but I added some “simple tips and tricks” for you to follow! They really are a dream to whip up and they surely will put a smile on someone’s face! Please email me if you have and questions! Let's get to it!

IMG_4144

Use your imagination with all different colors! I mixed up the Valentine Colors using Real Red, Rose Red and Melon Mambo!

  • Cut your card stock to 3 ½” X 4 ½” (great way to use up scraps) and place it on the
  • Simply Scored Scoring Tool and score it a ¼” intervals! See picture below…so easy!

IMG_4134

TIP ALERT: I like using this tool for a nice and deep score…I know that you can use your Stampin' Trimmer, but I really think that this gives it a good and crisp effect!

  • After your base is scored, simply tear the paper ( a small amount) so it gets the effect of the end if a pencil or crayon (hope this makes sense) Also "work the fibers" of the paper and roll it around the "rolo" – this will make it not so rigid when you adhere it!  – see picture!

IMG_4135

  • Let's get to the Rolo…I know that you have read the great instruction that Jaime did…but this is the way that I found it to be SUPER easy…simply take a smail piece of tin foil and wrap it around the end…(my patience did not jive with cutting a thin sliver) and then go ahead and adhere the Hershey Kiss with several mini glue dots….(love those gems!)

IMG_4136

  • Cut a 3 ½” X 3/8” piece of blushing bride cardstock…now this is when you would want to use your Stampin’ Trimmer and I would use the measurement lines to the right of the cutting blade! (so much easier when you are making a narrow cut! Take a piece of sticky strip and also place sticky strip on the base part (Rolo and one piece on the outer edge) as shown below!

TIP ALERT: – make sure you do not run the sticky strip all the way up the Rolo….you want part of the tin foil to show!!!

IMG_4137

IMG_4138

IMG_4145
I sure hope that you enjoyed this post and will give it a try! I made 18 of these cute treats in literally no time….remember how I have shared with you before…break your projects down and do bits here and there…it makes it so much easier and you do not become stressed!

The below picture you can see the "end" of the pencil and I think the little heart "is the perfect finishing touch"

IMG_4146

One thing to think about with this project is…you can easily change things up if you do not have a specific punch…I also wanted to share the picture of the stamp set…the name says it all and it is perfectly named as there are a dozen of perfect sentiments – Stamp sets like these are real keepers! Even if you do not have a sentiment stamp….who cares – just free hand a heart and cut it out!

Trust me…the message will come accross…..they are loved and thought about!

Have a fabulous day….Valentines is one week from today so please go out and get some rolos and make someone smile! All ages love these and they will be WOWED! I will be packing up my goodies that I have been making and off they go to my loved ones!

IMG_4143

Tomorrow is a simple Saturday post for you!!! We were to get a bunch of snow on Sunday but I think we are going to dodge it!!!! I am saying a BIG WOOT-WOOT for that!

Thanks for popping by and please share my blog with your family and friends! It is a joy and pleasure to be your Stampin' Up Demonstrator!

Until tomorrow!

“Monster Hugs” make me smile!

IMG_3969

This post makes me smile! I must admit…when I 1st saw these "Monster Hugs" that Stampin' Up! came out with for Valentines this year…..I was not very thrilled – I didn't quite get why the little goober man only had 1 eye….I felt sorry for him!!!

Naturally, I did purchase them as I feel the need to show a variety of products and knowing that my son teaches children at a Montessori School in Boston, I knew that I would find a way to put them to use for him and his kids!

What I ended up finding is…I actually really like them!!!

Actually so much, I bought another pack in each color! They are fun, fresh and can easily be used for other uses than valentines! I did a search on the internet and many ideas I found used the Summer Starfruit for the blue one….and that just didn't work for me….

Let's go and you can see how you like these little guys!

I have done them in 3 different ways….with nuggets and a box on the front…..with Giradelli Chocolates and the box in the back…..and a Birthday Card for a friend that actually is on Valentines Day and I always bring him a jug of milk and fresh baked Chocolate Chip Cookies to his office, so  thought this would be perfect and will make him laugh!

IMG_3975

  • To make the box to the front like above…it is soooo easy you are going to want to whop up a bunch of these! I have these filled with "nuggets" (5) fit great!
  • For the "boy's" one I used Marina Mist as my box color and to the "girls" I used the fresh Strawberry Slush!
  • Take a piece of paper at 4" X 4 3/8" and pull out the Simple Scoring Tool or simply use your Stampin' Trimmer as you always have the scoring part! Starting with the 4" side – simply score at 1 1/2" and 2 1/2" – next turn it to the 4 3/8" side and score this side at 1" and 3 3/8"
  • Fold in all of the score lines and I highly recommend using the bone folder for crisp and professional looking edges! Look at the below picture and you will see that I cut up the score lines in the middle but then I do reccomend that you "cut in" on these edges….I think that this makes a "cleaner" project!

IMG_3985

Put a piece of sticky strip on the outer edge of the small cut flap…see picture below! You fold up this 1st and adhere…..then the back side!

IMG_3986

  • Here is the important part….take your sticky strip and put it about 1/4" down from the edge of the "monster" and take it around but leaving a gap where the "hands" meet! I like it to be even to the bottom!
  • I simply wrapped the "nuggets" in the coordinating colors of the Designer Series Papers…..use them ALL of the time!

IMG_3976

I just think that these are just too darn cute! I adore the little eye….makes it super fun! Now let's get to the next one….the box in the back that will fill (3) Ghirardellii Chocolates!

IMG_3981

This box uses the same principals! Here is the scoop! Take a piece of 4 1/4" X 5" piece (you can get 4 from a sheet of paper) and here are the score measurements!

On the 4 1/4" side…score at 1" and 3 1/4"

On the 5" side ….score at 2" and 3"

IMG_3977

I know that if you do it this way you lose the back of the card but the Tags for You Stamp makes up for it! The heartsin real red are the added touch that makes the finale!

I think that this is a great option! The only downside is that you lose the "bum" of the "Monster" but you have the room to write who it goes to …….

Here is a quick and easy Birthday Card! Can you see that I scored each side….it is just 1/4" in on all sides – this is a quick and easy trick to jazz up a card!

IMG_3974

I did wrap a nugget and he is holding it but the simple anf fun sentiment from Sassy Salutations was the perfect "Happy Birthday" for my friend!!! I think this is such a fun and fresh stamp set! This card was so easy…I just used the multipurpose glue to adhere the "Monster"….fast….DONE!

I hope that you have enjoyed these FUN monsters….but remember, these Valentines that Stampin' Up! are offering are only good thru the 27th….YIKES – that is tomorrow! Please feel free to email me if you have any questions about these little guys!

Today's post is another example of how I needed to change my mind!!! I did not "fall in love" with these little guys at first but once I start playing with them…..I LOVED THEM!!!!

Tomorrow I will be showcasing more of the "SWAPS" I received at Leadership! I know that you love them and I want to show you all of the talent that is out there! I am trying to put my creative hat on as SALE-A-BRATION starts on Tuesday!!!!!

That is a huge woot-woot and I will be sharing some blog candy to kick off the party!!!

Here is to a great Sunday….unitl tomorrow!

Super easy Valentine Treat!!!

IMG_3936

Last week when I did the post on the Paper Pumpkin and how excited I am with how Stampin' Up! has listened and re-vamped the entire program and product etc…I showed one of these gems and was asked for the dimensions!

Well…today is your lucky day as I am going to share with you 2 different sizes that are SUPER-DE-DUPER easy to whip up in a flash! I adore quick and easy goodies like this…they are always so well received and an instant smile will be on  the face of who is lucky to get a little "thinking of you goodie"

Think out of the box with what you can put in them….you can see here that I have simple candy, a Movie Ticket and more candy(hard to see as it is red) and for my daughter Hannah, I put some lip gloss in one to make her smile!

Let's go! The reason why I am showing you 2 different sizes is easy….I wanted to show you how you can use a paper stack (as that paper is 4 1/2" X 6 1/2" and make one…and the GREAT thing is – you will still have enough paper to line a 3 X 3 envelope or punch out a heart etc…

IMG_3938

  • The above example is from the Fresh Prints Paper Stack and you cut it to a 4" square! Pull out the envelope punch board and slide it to the 1 3/4" mark…PUNCH…SCORE…turn to 2 1/4"…..PUNCH…SCORE….turn again to 1 3/4" – do the same and lastly 2 1/4" and the same!

  • Before you get too fold happy….remember you will only fold in 3 of the sides….I used a small piece of sticky tape (as I like the strong hold) and then you can decorate it however your little heart desires!

IMG_3937

  • Isn't this cute….I wanted to show you that you can make these gems and do nothing else but a simple ribbon with a knot and PRESTO – one super cute way to package something!

Now let's get to the other ones….they are made with a 5" sqaure piece of paper!

IMG_3941

  • These follow the same principal as above but the score/ line measurements are 2", 3" ,2" and 3"!!!! OOPS – I forgot above, use the corner rounder on all edges for a clean and fun finishing touch!

I hope that these cute examples inspired you to make some! These come together in a jif and it is a great way to use up paper!

IMG_3942

I am super happy that I have added some "Paper Pumpkin People" to the new, revamped program! It taught me that it us ok to change my mind and after seeing both February and March's kits….I know they are BLUE RIBBONS and the best thing is….if I want to stop – EASY-PEASY…..just send them and email and you have stopped!

One confusion that has come up with many…..when you go to the Paper Pumpkin Website and you sign up……please copy and paste my code –

EASY – right!?!? For just $19.95 a month you will get an inspiration kit mailed to you and you will be like a kid on Christmas Morning……ready to break open your package and PLAY WITH YOUR NEW TOYS!

If you sign up before February 10th, you will receive a free marker set

(5 "in color markers" – heck this is $14.95 value in itself)!!!

I say WOOT-WOOT!

IMG_3935

Thanks for popping in and if you can – pop back tomorrow, I am going to show you what you can do with the oober cute valentine monsters that Stampin' Up! had just until Monday…..they really are cute!

I know that everyone is waiting for Sale-A-Bration and I hope that you will pop by on Tuesday the 28th as I will be having some BLOG CANDY to kick off the PARTY!!!!

Have a great day….I hope you make some of these and unitl tomorrow!

Let it SNOW…let it SNOW!!!

IMG_3904

Well…I hope that I do not offend anyone by saying that I am not the biggest fan of snow! Sure it is BEAUTIFUL…and if it would stay the fresh and white wonderland that it is….I would ADORE it – but living on a farm with 5 dogs…3 horses…a miniture donkey,a precious pig…and a WONDERFUL husband that is coming back from a severe injury…it is hard for me to do the SNOW HAPPY DANCE!

On a positive note….I was able to be home from work by 2 today and even though I had today’s post planned….I thought – “Let’s Play” and do something different….so this is what you get!!!!

My oldest lives in Boston and I know how cold it is here in Maryland…my heart goes out to him being in Massachusetts – so his siblings will be jealous…but this post is for him…all complete with a Starbucks gift card to warm him up!

IMG_3906

Let’s get to it and I have lots of pictures for you! The inspiration was from my dear Stampin’ Up! friend and demonstrator Patsy Waggoner….I was so happy to meet her in person at leadership in Houston  and get a big Patsy hug… she is my BLOG GU-RU that has been my savior! WOWZER – what a wonderful person! I am blessed!

  • The base is (2) pieces of Soft Sky at 4 ¼” X 5 ½”
  • I ran one thru my main man, Mr. Big Shot , with a NEW AND FREE Embossing Folder that you can get during Sale-A-Bration….it is a HUGE WOOT-WOOT!!!!
  • Now…take both pieces and using the Simply Scored – score along the 5 ½” side at ½”, 1”, 4 ½” and 5”
  • Next, I took a framelit from the Festive Flurries Framelits  (it is carried over) LOVE it – thought it would be a perfect effect for our snowy day!

Festive Flurry Clear-Mount Bundle

  • Fold the scored lines (accordion style) and I highly suggest using the bone folder…why???? It makes a BIG difference with 3-D projects….crisp and clean is the name of the game!
  • I was using the Best of Snow Stamp Set and at 1st I was going to do the snowman but I changed my mind to even keep it simpler! I adore this set….and have made many WOWZER projects with it – remember, it is a limited stamp set so please do not wait to order it!

  • I cut a Very Vanilla piece at 3 ¼” X 3” to be the “centered stage” of the card! I stamped some snowflakes from the Festive Flurries Stamp Set in Soft Sky around the edges ( I know it’s hard to see) but it really is cute!

IMG_3898

  • The focal “Let it Snow” is in Island Indigo and remember – keep your ink pads will “inked” to get the crisp image you are looking for!

IMG_3899

  • I placed that on a very vanilla snowflake that I popped out and popped them with Stampin’ Dimensionals!!!! Love those Stampin’ Vitamins!

IMG_3900

  • Place Sticky Strip along the edges as shown…this is a must as you really want a strong hold and it makes it sooooo easy! After I placed one side….I flattened the card to adhere the 2nd side! SOOOOO easy!

IMG_3901

IMG_3910

  • I thought it needed a bit of interest….so I cut  a ¼” strip of Island Indigo to dress up the sides and then stitched and dotted to add depth!
  • Let’s flip it around…..I took a piece of scraps to make a quick pocket and tuck in a note and a gift card for Will to enjoy!

IMG_3908

  • The envelope was lined in the Soho Subway DSP…works perfectly with today’s project!

IMG_3905

Well….what do you think!?!? I thought that it was super cute and I thank Patsy for her inspiration….( she really IS THE BEST) – Click here to see her video on this technique!

My wonderful upline, Mary Fish introduced me to Patsy I feel like we are like “Peanut Butter and Jelly” – I feel so fortunate to be able to meet so many incredible Stampin' Up! Demonstrators that continue to inspire me!

I just came up from doing a final check of the horses (10:30 p.m.) and I feel bad that I was whining at the beginning of my post! As I bundled up….and went to see the horses – all of the dogs came with me….tumbling and having fun playing in the snow…I had to smile…as it is times like this that are priceless!!!

All is great…all are warm and all of the dogs are pooped from playing outside!!! If you live in a snowy area….be safe – I hope that you enjoyed this post! I think it is super cute and I know Will will appreciate it and enjoy the gift card!

To me…the super great thing about this card is….it lays flat and when you take it out of the envelope….it POPS right into it's 3-D shape….FUN!!!!

Have a GREAT day, please feel free to leave me a comment and tomorrow is another PPA challenge – I have a great card for you!!!!

Be safe – and until tomorrow!

3-D quick and easy fun!

IMG_3860

Here is a SUPER quick & easy 3-D fun that comes together in a SNAP!

Just think of how you can change up the theme to make just about anyone smile! This would be a great party favor…a cute "tie on" to a gift…a little "giftie" that anyone would enjoy receiving!

I am giving you an idea that would be great for Valentine's and another for a "just because"!!! After  I made the pink one…I thought – this would be a PERFECT table favor for my daughter's sorority Silent Auction Dinner! She is in charge of the silent auction and her roommate is helping with the dinner….would this be just adorable as it is for Breast Cancer?

Let's go…I am sure that many of you will be going to get Tic-Tac's….it's a cute and practical project to whip up in a jif!

IMG_3863

  • Take a piece of Real Red at 2 5/8" X 5 1/2" and score at 1 1/8',1 6/8",3 1/2" & 4 1/8"! I use the Simply Scored and also use the markers as when you make a bunch of these….it makes it a super cinch!
  • Use the bone folder and get a good, crisp fold – to me this is soooo important especially with 3-D projects!
  • Use Sticky Strip – again, a must in my opinion especially when working with something that you want to hold in place firmly!
  • The "stripe belly band" is 1 1/4" X 5 1/2" and scored at the same measurements from above! This is from the super cute Fresh Prints Paper Stack! Just LOVE it!

  • I stamped the great sentiment of "hey there friend" in real red….this is from the Paper Pumpkin Kit! I wanted to do something fun and whimsical and free-hand cut it in a wavy fashion….just do it – and HAVE FUN!
  • Taking a simple hole punch and threading a piece of Real Red taffeta ribbon and slipped it under the knot and tied it again = SIMPLE + FUN= A GREAT END RESULT!!!

IMG_3857

Watercolor Wonder Designer Series PaperWatercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper

  • The petite petals punch is the SUPER NEW AND MUST HAVE  punch – it is adorable! Purchase it as a bundle and you will save an instant 15% = woot-woot!

IMG_3862

  • Did you notice that I used the white gel pen and did a quick stitch around the top and bottom!?!? Well, I think it made it and then I went back and did the same with the red one….you'll see it in the last picture!

What do you think – do you like today's project?

I think that the simple stitching adds a great touch and gives it the finale! It's it amazing all of the quick and simple things we can do and show our creativity!

I love simple projects to inspire you! I did this last Spring with Breast Cancer Ladies for a "Day of Creativity" that was for them! They loved making these simple Tic-Tacs!

IMG_3864

Let me know your thoughts…..and remember – this adorable and super practical sentiment came from the Paper Pumpkin Kits! Please refer back to the post earlier this week when I realized when I went to Leadership Convention, that Stampin' Up! realizes that they need to "change it up" –

I love it that they are listening…if you sign up…you will receive this stamp – love this sentiment! I am glad I FINALLY opened it and have been using it all week!!!!

Have a wonderful Sunday and please feel free to shoot me an email if you need help!

Until tomorrow!
