Remember how I have been showing you how to save your paper and making "cuts" with paper that it going to be matted and not shown? Well today's post is "left overs" that are from when I made the "thank you's" for my friends… several posts ago…click here to see it! Because I made so many of these card – I was able to cut a top note from each of the Soft Suede paper!
This
is a super fun and easy box that is not only functional…it will put a huge
smile on someone’s face! You could put many things in these gems…candy, a gift
card, a deck of cards, a note…just use your imagination!
To
make the box part…you can get (2) from one sheet of paper!
- Cut your paper at 8” X 5 ½ “
- Score on the 8” side at 1”, 3 ½”, 4 1/2” and 7”
- Score on the 5 ½” side at 1” on both ends
- Fold in…( I like to use the bone folder for crisp edges) and cut in to the 1" line as shown!
- This next step is easy…you will cut completely off 1 piece…look at the picture below!
- I recommend that you use Sticky Strip! I say this as I feel it is the best choice of adhesive for 3-D projects! You will only be placing sticky strip on that short side (see picture below) This is a good picture that will show you the "cut off" piece and how you build the "sides" to your box!
- How are you doing? Hang in there – this is really easy and you will be making these a bunch! After you adhere the box together I took the 1" circle punch and did a quick snip! I think it makes it easier to open the box!
- Now to attaching the attaching of the Top Notes! I do put sticky strip on the top and bottom of the box but I start with the bottom. Peel off the red tape and position the "box" on top!
- Last step…I suggest that you lean over and it is super easy to get the "top" – "top note" centered over the box! BAM you did it!!! I say Woot-Woot to you!
Now lets get to the fun part since we have mastered the mechanics of
the box making!
I cut another Top Note from Very Vanilla and then I cut if a bit
smaller simply using the perforated lines as my guide! SOOOOO easy!
Using the Tangerine Tango ink…I inked up the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp and
then “stamped it off” on a piece of computer paper before stamping on the top
note…I wanted a fainter stamp!
Using one of my favorite Fall stamps, out came the Magnificent Maple
Stamp and I inked it up with Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Old Olive ( a
perfect trio of fall colors)
Lastly with the help of my stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement I
stamped the sentiment that came from the Lots of Thanks Stamp Set!
Is this just soooo cute! What did I put inside….yummers! I put nuggets but I did something fun and super easy! Using address labels I stamped the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp and then stamped the sentiment of "thanks"! Isn't this just the cutest!
The label fits perfectly and you do not have to worry about an adhesive! Woot-Woot!
Just think of the endless ideas you could do with this concept..a simple change of paper color and stamps…presto – you have a great gift! Please share with me if you make any of these! I just love them and they are always a hit!
We have been sooooo lucky to have wonderful friends make us yummy meals while John has been laid up…and I have been sending these out with a thank you note! They love them!
Please let me know what you think about these! They are super easy to make and if you need any help, please feel free to email me!
There have been sooooo many things going on with Stampin' Up! over the past weeks, I find it hard to take it all in! Tomorrow is the last day for you to take advantage of the $25.00 starter kit!
If that wasn't good enough….on the 22nd (Tuesday) they are unveiling 25 stamp sets that will be 25% off for 1 week!!! A HUGE woot-woot….as if you sign up to be a hobbiest demonstrator, you will be able to take the 25% anniversary discount on the stamp sets that will be on sale…PLUS your first order discount of 30% more!
Let's talk…I would love for you be having fun with me!
Until tomorrow!
Just adorable and who wouldn’t enjoy receiving a Box of Chocolates? Yum! So glad you rescued the card stock to create this precious box. Marvelous Maple, I just may have to get that now! Thanks for sharing!
This is super sized cuteness!
When I see how much you do with the Gorgeous Grunge set, I may just have to get this one.
Like the labels on the candies too. Very well done.
I agree…it is a super fun and easy project to do! I have also filled them with peppermint patties and used a circle pinch for the sentiment part!
I agree…you also do not feel as guilty when you eat those small pieces of goodness!
Hands down…Gorgeous Grunge was my least favorite when the new catalog came out…then I finally broke down after I saw the versatility of it – it is a great stamp for backgrounds and when you need a quick “fill in”
So cute! The top note die was so overused after it came out, that I soon became tired of it. You have revived my interest in using it again!
YEAH!!! Pull it back out and have fun!
Love this box and the idea of the labels for the candy! I always appreciate your step by step instructions. They are so easy to follow. I felt the same way you did when I first saw the Gorgeous Grunge set and now I use it a LOT! Love it!
Good Morning Susan,I love this box and have saved it for future use. The possibilities are endless. I was thinking of every holiday and gift giving occasion. Hope all is going well with you and your family. 🙂
Oh, P.S. I already have it!!
Well now I have to add the top note die to my ever growing wish list. LOL Love the box and all your fun ideas for slipping in gifts. I appreciate the idea for candy labels as I have been cutting strips of DSP to cover the nuggets. Yours are so cute and quick! THanks for sharing!
I am sooooo going to make this for Thanksgiving. My guests will love getting a little treat in such a festive box!
Thanks for the great tutorial!
Totally love this! When you showed the remainder of the top note die previously, I thought wow, I just had to have that die and I bought it with my Big Shot but have not ever used it! A few years ago, everyone made stuff with it. I made this box when I was in a stamping group but she did not give us the directions. Now, I can make my own with your directions and my own die! We tied ours up with a bow and it was Christmasy. But, I love this more with the pretty fall colors. Oh, I can taste the chocolate now! Of course, you gotta try a couple out of the bag to make sure they are good and not old candy etc.!!! I will let you know how it turns out. I love little boxes and filled with chocolate – is there anything better?
Susan, I just LOVE this!! Thank you so much for the detailed directions (with photos!). I’ll make this with my club next month & I’ll be sure & direct them to your blog. And, I wouldn’t have thought of decorating the candies. Nice surprise when they open the box!
Great box and wonderful use of the saved paper! I don’t have the Top Note. Would one of the Labels Framelits be the same size as the Top Note?
I appreciate the idea of using the sticky labels for the wrappers on the nuggets! I’m sure I will use that information some day!
Hi Bridget! Great idea! I did pull out the Labels framelits and they might work….not exactly the same size but I think either the 2nd or 3rd from the largest might work….if you try it – please let me know how it works!
Now how cute is this, oh I have to make one this week:)
I saw the front of this box and knew immediately it would be a perfect card for the class I had yesterday! And it was! Thank you so much for your inspiration! I will make sure to link back to your blog when I post on my blog today! Pam
Adorable Susan. Just love it. I just love 3D projects soooo much. Thanks soooo much for sharing with us!
Absolutely wonderful gift & tutorial! I love your tutorials because your instructions are so detailed and helpful to me since I am a visual person! I would love to get this gift! IT would definitely put a HUGE SMILE on my face even without the candy! LOL! Again, thank you so much for all you do and for sharing your AWESOME CREATIONS & TUTORIALS with us!
hi
hi, I don’t have the top note die but I wondered if you could make mini ones w/ the decorative label punch. Do you think that would work? I thought they would look cute at each plate for thanksgiving dinner next to name tags. thanks!
