Tis the season! I must confess, years ago I was not a big fan of gift cards but now I am totally convinced that they are THE WAY TO GO…especially if you unsure of sizes and preferences!
As I shared with you in an earlier post last week, I prefer to make my gifts…you know I love paper crafting but I also adore cooking,needle-pointing and photography!
These are the cutest and easiest gift card holders you will ever make and they come together in a SNAP! The idea was shared with me by my friend Jeanie and when she showed me …I asked her to write the directions down and she laughed at me….cause' it is soooooo darn easy! READY!!!
- Take a piece of Card Stock and cut it into 3 1/2" strips of paper – YEP!!! – You will get 3 enclosures from 1 sheet of paper plus this is a GREAT way to use up scraps!
- Score this piece at 2" and at 6". On the 2" side, use the corner rounder ( I prefer using the Envelope Punch Board one….love it)
- Fold in your score lines and use sticky strip as show in the photo…simply fold up and press! (I also use mono glue if I am tired of cutting the sticky strip! This works great as well!!!)
- Time to decorate…On the holiday ones I am using the super paper stacks –Winter Frost Designer Series Pack that are in the holiday catalog and also the Season of Style Designer Series Pack! These sheets measure 4 1/2" X 6 1/2"
- Simply cut it in half long ways (you will now have (2) pieces that are 2 1/4" X 6 1/2") and then cut it in half again (you will now have (2) pieces that are 3 1/4" X 2 1/2")
- One of these pieces will fit perfectly on the bottom piece, for the top piece you will cut it at 1 3/4" X 3 1/4" – corner round 2 of the ends!
- Take a strip of paper at 1" x 8 1/2" and wrap around the decorated hold for a belly band! I recommend using Sticky Strip or Mono glue!
- Now you can decorate it how ever you like! This is where the fun comes in…think out of the box – use your punches…use some framelits…just have FUN!
Please do not limit yourself to using these only for gift cards…these would make a great pocket to tuck a note in! Below you will see more examples of how I decorated them with not in the Holiday theme! I was very pleased with the end result and I think you will be soooo happy with how easy they are to make!
It is items like this that are perfect to have on hand! I would make some up with a variety of themes…Holiday's…Birthday…Graduation….etc!
Have fun…pace yourself and know that you can always email me if you have a question! Don't try to over think these…they truly as easy as they seem!
If you are lucky enough to have time in your craft space…please have fun! Please share with me your projects – I love to see them!

Super cute….I have done this one before with a velcro to keep it shut closed but I like the belly band idea too! Super cute, as always!
These are really cute! A few of these in a cute package will be a great gift for my Secret Santa gift for a co-worker!!

Super cute and quick idea. Hope to get some “me” time today. 🙂
You’re a mind reader. Gift card holders is on my list of things to make today! Love your ideas. Thanks, Cindy
What size cardstock? 12″ or 8 1/2 x 11? Very nice gift holders, Susan.
8 1/2′ X 11″….sooooo easy – have FUN!
love that you teach us how to make these with all detailed info. you are awesome Susan! this is definitely on my list to make!
Susan this is simply wonderful! Perfect timing too because I have a few gift cards to give out to a Secret Santa sister on Monday and of course I want to make them CUTE! Thanks so much for sharing! I love your blog and your style so much! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
I love these! Can’t wait to make some. Thank you for sharing right when I needed it. I’m like you in that, in addition to paper crafting, I like cooking, cross stitch, and reading. There just aren’t enough hours in the day!
Thanks to you for your great “how-to-do” details on all your projects!! I couldn’t do it without them!! They are so easy to understand and follow and I thanks you very much! Keep them coming!
Have a very Merry and Blessed Christmas!
Thanks for this idea, easy peasy:)
Great Ideas, thenk you for the complete and easy instructions. I will be making 5 of these! Gift cards are the only way to go when you have 5 teen-aged grandchildren. THey love to choose their own gifts or put several cards together and get something electronic, so I spend a bit of time on the wrappings and call it good for the next few years.

Susan, These gift card holders are adorable. Thank you so very much for telling all of us about these cute cards. Thank you so very much for the directions. You are so sweet. Happy stamping. Ellen Hinds
Could you clarify the first cutting measurement?
You are so darned creative! Thanks!!
Susan these are too cute!. I see Julie asked about the first measurement. I am also assuming you are cutting the short way since 3.5×3 would be 10.5 inches with just a little strip left over. I think I will give some holders to friends as a present in a little box or something cute. My boss gives her coffee friends a gift card for coffee usually so she might welcome some of these fun ones. Otherwise, she just puts them in a regular card and envelope. Or, she put mine at the bottom of the gift bag with a tissue wrapped towel on top. I didn’t know there was a gift card until in there until I went to reuse the gift bag!
Thanks Susan, these are really fun and glad you added some birthday ideas etc. The Mr. and Mrs. would be so fun for a wedding in their colors!
These are great. I’d like to put this on my “to make” list for our church fair next year. I would love to pin it to my Pinterest board, but I don’t see a pin button on this page and I didn’t see it on your boards yet.
Hi!
Am trying to make your gift card holders. I cut a 8 1/2″x 11, 3 1/2 in width and how long do you leave it? I left it 3 1/2 by 11 and scored at 2 and 6 and it does not come out right. I need to know what length your using please.
Hi Holly! You cut the paper so your gift cards are 3 1/2 x 8 1/2. You must have made your cuts on the wrong end. Turn the paper so the 11 inch side is horizontal and cut at 3 1/2. You will end up with 3 strips (3 1/2 x 8 1/2) and 1/2 inch left over if you are using a sheet of 8 1/2 x 11. Hope this helps!
This is wonderful! I give several gift cards a year, and I love this template. Just made one for my niece and linked back to this post on my blog: http://sharpnotesbysheryl.blogspot.com/2015/12/national-cocoa-day.html Thanks very much!
