Happy Tuesday to all! I am back and my time schedule is all off but I am ready to get to some inspiration for you this week!I am "over the moon" happy that you enjoyed the cards from the Spring Swap! I have enjoyed reading the comments as you all have been receiving cards!
This is a busy week for many with Easter being on Sunday…many children are off school…many of you are traveling and many of you are probably expecting company!
Do you remember last week I shared with you that John asked me to make a sympathy card for a client’s family and even though he loved it…he thought it was too feminine! I “get it” but I will say that it is a beautiful card!
My inspiration came from fellow PAL Windy Ellard and she used something similar in a totally different way! She used it as a Mothers Day Card and the base was a bold Primrose Petal Card Stock! I know that I have shared with you a ca-zillion times before but here you go again….(My wonderful Mom used to say… you can’t hear a good thing too many times!!!)
When you find a layout that works…go for it – it's your new friend for life!
Use it over and over again – simply change out the colors of paper…perhaps tweak the sizes of paper…change out the sentiment and PRESTO – another gorgeous creation from YOU!!!
This is one of those cards..a true keeper but what I adore about it is the amount of “white space” or should I say Very Vanilla! Let’s go…it feels great to be back blogging!
• The base is Very Vanilla A-2 size and then I cut my mat piece at ¼” smaller = 5 ¼” X 4” • Using the Honey Comb Embossing Folder I ran it thru my main stampin’ man…Mr. Big Shot! Isn’t the effect wonderful!
• Cutting a piece of Very Vanilla to 3" X 3 3/4" and then using the Field Flowers Stamp Set, I Stamped the image letting the stem go off the bottom of the paper!
• In the picture you see below, you will see that I actually double stamped this! You can see in the picture of the stamp set that there are 2 flowers…always stamp the lighter color 1st and then the darker color with the other stamp! (I used pink pirouette and Primrose Petal) …also – ( I only did the 2 tone on the big flower – I do not think the smaller one needs to be done twice!!!)
• Pulling out the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig…I stamped the sentiment that is from the Stamp Set Petite Pairs in Primrose Petal. This is a great Stamp Set that is often over- looked!
• Now you can mat this to the primrose petal that is a smidge bigger and I POPPED it up with Stampin' Dimensionals but before you adhere it down….
• Here comes a little fun – take a small piece of Primrose Petal Ribbon and fold it over and then anchor it with a piece of sticky strip or even tape (you’ll never see it) and then tie a super simple bow with the natural tread from the gold bakers twine!
TIP ALERT: – How did I do that???….easy peasy..I really wish we had a vanilla bakers twine but you can do it…just simple “pull” the gold thread from the bakers twine and voila’ – DONE!
- The only thing left is old faithful lining the envelope! What would we have done without the envelope framelit liner? It is a totally keeper! The liner is from the In-Color Designer Series Paper Stack a simple “go-to” that always work!
I hope that you can visualize how practical this card layout is! I will admit, I forget about using the embossing folders and my friend Jeanie always says …”Why not – they are the best bang for your buck”…and once again, she is right! Just think, for just $7.95 look at the WOW effect it gives this card!
Now I need your help…please give me some feedback as to how you like below the way I am listing the products used! All you need to do is click on the image and it will take you right to my on line store….but you will also be able to visualize the image larger!
You have heard me say how amazing Mary Fish’s PALS team is…well – a wonderful hubby of a PAL developed this and I am just amazed!!! It does save me a bunch of time but I welcome your feedback!
True there is a learning curve for me as I am like an "Old Horse" – I just keep doing things over and over as it works! I am "game" for learning new things but I appreciate your feedback!
Today is the magical day that my husband can see the end of the Tax Road – yeah – April 15th….he has been working so hard for the past several months…I have something special up my sleeve to do with him after work on Wednesday! Let's hope for great weather and I think I can get the mission accomplished!
Please feel free to email me and please op back tomorrow as I have a super fun card that Jeanie and I took a class on – it looks hard….but it is easy-peasy!!! The best thing is that Jeanie figured it out to make it in an A-2 card for the Spring Swap!
I made it as an odd size….just like I like it – so until tomorrow!
Such a visual delight ! Your card is pretty pretty ! I like the ribbon detail . It adds a pop !
Now I must tell Carol that I received her card and it is adorable . I love it ! I have everything that she used to make it and I plan to try my hand at that Bitty Butterfly parade !
Thank you Susan for having this swap !
Oh, Yes, I love this new program of listing the products. I do check them out many times, because as we all know we say “Oh, I didn’t see that.” Hope it is easy for you too. The card is very nice. I see you added your Susan dots too. Love it. 🙂
Totally different question. When I want to post here I have to click on my name. I do not have the “post box” option under the Web Site URL box. I can see the top lines of where the check box would be, but the boxes are not there. Does anyone else have this situation?
I like the new way of listing, appreciate being able to see the products with a larger view. When I clicked on things before, it did not take me to your store, just to Stampin Up. Love your posts and make your blog a regular stop! Thanks for walking us through how you make your cards.
Love the card and you are so right how it is a keeper and can be changed up so easily. I love the new layout too….so easy to see the products used. Thanks!
Beautiful card and a good one to CASE. Nice to see some flowers and color on this cold, snowy day. Thanks for sharing and for the picture list of the products you used.
Another great card, Susan. I like everything about it and I also like the new way of clicking on the images. Since I am a hobbyist, it doesn’t impact me as much as some of your other customers, but I think it is a big plus to go to the site where the images can be seen clearly and purchased all at one time.
My jaw dropped when I opened your email. What a gorgeous card. I love this stamp set.
Susan, I just love your website and visit it every day!! This card certainly is a keeper!! I have a question about the 2-step stamping, though. I believe you are supposed to stamp the more solid image first in the lighter color and then do the details in the darker color. In this way, the lighter color will show more. Check it out!!
Love this new way of showing the products used. It’s a keeper!
Beautiful card and a great “formula” to use with any Embossing folder and stamp set!
Your card is beautiful! Your color choice really emphasizes the beautiful flower. I need to remember your advice to do the same layout over again. I seem to reinvent the wheel with each card.
I, too, like the new way of displaying the items you’ve used. Seeing them is helpful!
Thanks for sharing,
Cyberhugs!
Susan, This card is so beautiful. love the colors, the layout. It is a keeper of a card.
You are right when you find a layout. Use it and make it work change the colors the stamps and the words and you have different cards. Susan. You are so amazing. I love to see your cards every day.
I like the new way of finding out what you do with the cards. I also love the way you used to do it it was so easy for me to figure out what you did . the pictures and the way you describe it really help me to see the end result. Happy stamping. Ellen Hinds
This card is indeed a keeper, love the colors and this layout, so beautiful.
Now, I know it’s a bit late to say this but, I got my swap card yesterday, it’s from Rita Yure from CA. I love it, specially the way Rita colored this pretty flower from one of my favorite SU bundles, the Secret Garden.
Thank you Rita for my lovely card and thank you Susan for hosting the swap, I hope you do another one soon.
This is a beautiful card! Love the little bow treatment. I am never sure about that two step stuff so I stay away from that for the most part. As far as listing the products used, go with what is the easiest for you too! I can not imagine how much time it takes to do this blog and do it every day.
I am the lucky recipient of the card Jeanie made in your next posting with the directions. Golly, more stuff to buy to try and make this card – it is so fun and pretty – I gotta try it. A friend of mine’s birthday is not until December so I have a bit of time to purchase the framelits etc. and then practice until it is perfect, well, good enough to mail anyway!
Glad you made it back home and had a good time. Looking forward to hearing about the weekend. Will you share the sip and swap cards with us too?
