Now this is as simple as it gets and I am going to share with you a template "how to" so you can go back and make this over and over! This is a fabulous layout to make not only "quantities of" but also a great layout for small stamp images!
This image is from the Endless Wishes Stamp Set and I am so glad that Stampin' Up!! brought this back this year. I love the font, but I also love the fact that you can use it for chocolates….hmmmmm……pop back on Tuesday and you will see what I am talking about!
Let's get going as this is one that you will want to CASE and keep the handy template handy! It all starts with the Note-Card Whisper White Card & Envelopes (I just love this size) and I highly suggest that you make a template so you can "pencil line" the squares!
Let's make the template! Below you will see that I made it in a wisteria wonder so I could find it easier in my work area…so easy – lets go!
- Start with a piece of paper that is the same size as the Note Card = 5" X 3 1/2"
- Find the center and make a pencil line = 2 1/2" line
- Take the 1" Square Punch and make the center your 1st punch using the pencil line as your giude. Slide the punch all the way in to meet the edge of the paper.
- Punch the sides lining up the outer edge of the punch to the side of the paper, this way your punches will be even!
- Now take the template pack to your cutter and trim off a smidge – 1/8" off of each side so your end result will be a template of PRESTO…DONE!!! – now you have a template that is 4 3/4" X 3 1/4"
Hopefully these below pictures will help you! Please email me of you have any questions, I know that sometimes it is hard to put it into words but once you try it – I hope it makes sense!
Now that your template is completed, I simply place it over the front of my note card and take a pencil and quickly make my pencil squares so when I go to do my stampin', it will be perfect!
Stamp away and then simply erase your pencil lines before putting the top piece on! Make sure that you use a bunch of Stampin' Dimensionals on this top piece – (it is a great card to use those outer edges of the dimensionals as they are the long and skinny pieces!!!)
You might be thinking, Why do I need to make a template if I still have to punch the top part? Well, I find having a template makes if easy to just get right to the stampin part and also if you have a random pencil lines on the edges, it no biggie!
You also might want to make the top piece a different color and wouldn't it be fun to run it through the Big Shot with a simple embossing folder? Hmmmm…..sounds like a possibility!
I knew that I wanted to keep this a super simple card for you, but I also knew that adding a very simple touch of thin stripes of paper would be all that is needed!
In the picture above you can see that I used the silicone mat…they are a must have and while you are at it – get 2….as I find that if one has glue on it, I go to the other one especially if I am making a bunch of cards!
Why do I love this mat = I use the green glue for these strips and this makes it super easy for straight placement…I always make the strips longer than I need to make it easy on myself. You can pick them right up from the mat and then snip them off!
FUN and DONE….one great card that is timeless and will never let you down! Just look at your stamps sets that you have and start doing the happy dance when you see one that has small images…..
Lastly, the fabulous envelope! I did stamp the front with the sentiment and snowflakes (which was so easy because of the stamps being photoploymer) and then I lined the outer flap with the fun paper from the Santa & Company….so quick and easy!
I hope that these tips and tricks that I shared with you made not only sense…but also inspired you to go to your work area and make a template! You can easily use the same formula for using a regular A-2 card.
I realize that your time is precious and I thank you for popping in! Please feel free to email me if I can be of help and also remember that you can shop away from home in your jammies for these products that I have used today!
Tomorrow is make it mine Monday….hope to see you back!
p.s. – guess what I am doing today? I wish that we could all be together for this fun……I am going to Jeanie's house as her 2 sisters are here from Massachusetts and we are going to be 4 stampin…crazy….fun ladies!
Sounds like a dream day…..right!?!?! – I hope that there is a football game on for her poor husband to watch as there is going to be a bunch of laughter and creativity happening!

Thank you Susan, for sharing this fantastic tutorial on how to create this template, I’ve tried in the past to line up punched out squares to line up perfectly but I’m always off or crooked. This is a great template to have handy, I’m not to patient with measuring so it’s great that the only thing to do is to place the punch in the middle of the template, punch, move it to each side, punch again, easy!!!
Thanks a bunch!!
Sounds like a really fun day is planned for you and your stampin friends, Susan! Enjoy your time together! And thanks for the template tips~
I love this card and I love squares and I love that stamp set !!!
So thank you for the cute idea for yet another card I hope to get to soon . This goes in my project book !
What a great ” taking the guess work” out of making this type of card by creating a template. Thanks for sharring this idea so my brain can just have fun making the card and not stressing over getting everything centered. As always, looking forward to “Monday’s” with you.
Hi Maria….we must be “Peas in a Pod” and I am sure that we could have other friends in our Pod!
I totally am with you….I struggled and struggled with keeping things straight and also even…
SOOOO glad that you find it helpful!
I’m with you….having the template makes it fun and the guess work eliminated when you want to do a super quick card! You make me smile that you love the Monday fun…..you do an AMAZING job and I soooo appreciate you!
Great card.It gives the small images such importance. Love the blue lines, you are right, that is all it needs. Thanks for sharing.
Great idea Susan, thanks for sharing that. The card is beautiful, as always. I am sure I will be making a template for future use. Have a great time with your stamping friends!!
I always love your beautiful, simple cards. I do have a question about this one though. The stamps are actually on the inside of the card, right? The punched out “windows” are not a layer on the front, right? I just wanted to be sure. You are such a cheerful, uplifting person. Thanks.
Hi Cathy and thanks for the sweet comment! I do love to help you all accomplish projects and trust me – I have been on the other side of the fence frustrated in trying to figure out something that is very simple!
The snowflakes are stamped on the note card and then I erased the pencil lines that I drew.
Then the “template” goes over top with a bunch of dimensionals and this template is 1/4″ smaller so it gives that clean and classic look!
Hope this makes sense!!!
Hi Susan, I just adore this. It’s definitely of my favourites of all your beautiful creations. What is the little 3 dot stamp you have used? I don’t think recreating the card without it would work and it’s just so beautiful, I can’t wait to CASE it 🙂
Snow doubt about it – this is a wonderful card! I, too, tried the punch out thing and gave up trying. I will go back and try your technique to see if I can get this all lined up and easily done. I have a couple winter birthday cards to make and I think this would be wonderful to use on the front. Different than the usual birthday type card. So the template will come in so handy. This stamp is one of my favorite too. I love the color you chose. Thanks Susan for coming to the rescue once again!
All the little dots and dashes…from a former CM’er too 🙂 You do a great job at explaining. I follow your team line. a lot of talent in this group… thanks!
Such a beautiful card! Love the color. Thank you for giving us the template and simple instructions. I am also in the “pod” category and appreciate simple. Have a great day, Susan!
Thanks so much for the template! Its a keeper! I received my set of cards that I won as blog candy yesterday and they are fabulous! So many and such a variety! Many thanks!
I don’t think that my comment got sent..so if you get this twice, please forgive me. I love how you always (maybe most of the time) you do something with the envelope. It adds so much. After I seen how you made the card, it was really easy. I was just wondering what you would put of the inside.
Thanks for this cute card and great to follow instructions…you make it so easy for us!!!
