It's the weekend and that means a day fun post that I like to do for you all! Today is a "simpler" version and please pop back tomorrow to see another clean and simple card….just "stepped up a bit"!
Hopefully this super simple layout will inspire you to use your Designer Series Paper. (I know you all have it….and some of you have LOTS of it) Today's paper is a beautiful new DSP called English Garden and it's a keeper!
The colors are just stunning and the richness of the prints make it stand alone like I am showcasing today! The over all size of the card is fun…a 3 1/2" X 6 1/2" card and today I am using the NEW heavy weight paper…and I LOVE IT! I ti s amazing the difference it makes and if you are layering, have no fear – it makes perfectly!
Now we must talk about this stamp set…it is a keeper as well. You can never have too many thank you sentiment stamp set and this one I know will be very inky at my house! I must admit, when I first stamped it I thought I did not get an even impression and since I was using the stamp-a-jig I stamped it again…but it is the way the stamp is made! (Silly Susan)
Can't you see a multitude of great projects made with this set? Remember, my goal with the new stamp sets is to share with you at least 3 different posts on a given stamp set…this way – you can see the versatility of your purchases.
Having an "odd size" card always make the recipient feel special…think about it – if you opened your mailbox and saw a normal size card or an odd size card, I am sure we both know which one you would open first. The envelope punch board makes life sooo darn easy!
You can see in the below photo, I carried bit the DSP and the sentiment to my envelope….such a simple thing to do but it carries soooo much!
I know that many of you have shared with me your struggle with using DSP…just go for it and let it be the focal part…we have so many great papers – go ahead and show them off!
The tip that I can give you is…purchase the bakers twine in as many colors as you like…it is sooooooo affordable but at the same time it is over the moon effective! I simply took 3 pieces and tied a super simple bow (just like your shoe…that's my speed)
Well that's it – one super simple yet clean card that carried a huge punch! I hope to see you back tomorrow for the "stepped up versions"…I think that you will like that as much as this card!
Please feel free to leave me a comment. How do you feel about using DSO as a foal part…are you comfortable with it? How about giving it a try – is a fun and fast way to whip up a card!
Until tomorrow!
What an AMAZING card – One of my faves EVER! Thanks so much for sharing your gifts and talents with us. EPIC!!
My favorite new paper collection in the catalog! Great to see this beautiful card you made with it… More, please!
A cute summer card . Thank you for all of the great pictures that are close ups so we can REALLY SEE the dsp and stamps . Who ever gets this card is gonna love it !
Susan, I had to giggle when I read your ending statements about “Focal” ….reread it …snicker …you can tell you live with horses !!
What a beautiful card! The color combo is so refreshing. Love the use of the DSP and the odd card size, too. Can’t wait for tomorrow! Enjoy!
Love your card ! You have inspired me to make a “different size” card and use my DSP ! Can you say what size the DSP on this card measures ?
What a cute card
Susan, this card is simply a-maze-balls! I love how your envelope turned out, also. I ordered the heavy wt. paper recently and can’t wait for it to come in!
Hugs,
Sunshine
Love it! I needed your inspiration today…my card making feels boring. An odd size card is just the thing to shake it up! Thanks for sharing! Time to pull out all that DSP I’ve been hoarding, I mean saving!
Love the card and thanks for sharing all your fabulous tips!
Fun card today! Isn’t this English Garden paper just yummy?! I’m in love with it too. Not a bad piece in the bunch.
Thanks Susan for sharing the lovely dsp paper, looks like you did watercolors & matching envelope 😉
The odd size is alright, something different.

Susan, I love the different size card and envelope. Also love the extras on the envelope. Question: do you have a trick to making the liner fit when working with an odd size envelope?
Not your ordinary garden variety! Love the comments! I,too, caught to foal and smiled thinking of you and the horses too. Yes, I like the way you show us the DP and how to use it in creative ways. Sort of like showcasing it for us. You need to share the dimensions of this fun card. The envelope is so fun too. I have yet to purchase the envelope maker thing so for now I am keeping my cards a more normal size. I think I get how you make them though. I am in love with these colors today and will await tomorrow to see how you step it up! I am wondering why they decided to make stamps that don’t give an even impression. Am I the only one who thinks that is sort of odd and looks like you goofed a bit? I have enough problems with stamping I don’t need any more help in that area!
I don’t think that all DSP can be used effectively in this type of layout but this one is a winner and I’m excited to see how this one will be stepped up tomorrow!
That paper! It’s so lovely and really makes this card as does you fabulous multi-looped bow. What is your secret to that?!
Oh Deb = you are so kind! This was super easy as Stampin’ Up! did the magic in creating this incredible paper!
Keep this layout in your mind…it is a super easy and fast card that can be changed up with the sentiments for many occasions!
I think that this is a favorite is soooo many! It is just gorgeous! I will be making many, many more works of art with this beauty! Thanks for popping in….I do appreciate your comments!
Oh Sonny…you are so FUN! This will be Hannahs last year at Davidson so WE MUST get together….I am not the best at typing so I just ROLL WITH IT….and YES – those darn horses are the best!
John will laugh at me as if we are going out somewhere and I say….pull down to the barn and let me check the horses quick…I will be all dressed up and there is always a pair of Hunter Rain Boots down there – I slip them on…muck out a stall and back in the car!
I thought that this card needed to be a different shape. Sometimes when I look at DSP I can see that long and narrow would work and then there are times that a square is perfect!
This is what I love about Stampin’ Up! – we can make any sizes!!!!
So glad that you liked the card….YES – I will share with everyone the measurements on tomorrows post….I am UP IN THE AIR right now – LOVE Southwest!
It’s a keeper!
You are going to LOVE…LOVE….LOVE the new heavy weight paper = it was sooo needed and we will all be doing the Happy Dance!
I hear you loud and clear! We all get that way so please do not be hard on yourself!
I told John the other day that I felt my cards were in a slump…hos answer, I love them but walk away from them and then come back – it worked!
I think that there is nothing like an odd size card to make you “Mojo” back in action!
My pleasure…we all learn from everyones inputs!
Agreed! I would pick ANYTHING from this great DSP….and I am sure that you and your sister will come up with some gems!
Thanks for the comment…and on today’s card…it was a cinch, just adhere the DSP down…(I use the the green glue” and then trimmed off the excess!
As for other shaped cards and one that will fit into the envelope – I will do one this week and explain the tips….it’s easy!
Hello my friend! I am flying back from Atlanta right now and I love being able to get caught up!
I will share the dimensions on tomorrows blog…it is a great card layout and you know me, I adore odd sizes!
You do not have the Envelope Punch Board???? Well, that needs to change…it is the best “plastic speed tool” for $20.00 and just think – Ted can not figure it out!
I TOTALLY AGREE! Not all DSP would hold up to a card like this but I will say that many of use have the “busier” prints lurking in our stash!
This is a great way to put them to use~
Oh my gosh…you make me laugh and I am flattered that you asked…I just tale 3 pieces of twine…(usually around 8″) and then make a bow…trim the ends…glue dot – DONE!
Love the card and the different size. I need to go out of the box and make this size. I have lots of DSP and now I now what I can do with some of it. Thanks for all your great ideas.
