Here you go my friends! I know that you all enjoy these 2 day posts and this one is a super clean and fun card! You will see below that my inspiration came from the Holiday Catalog. Stampin' Ups! catalogs and website are filled with super duper ideas that will inspire you!
I can remember when I was surfing through the catalog when it first came out….YEP – I know that I would be doing a CASE on this card! There are several things that "speak to me" and here are a few of them!
- Whenever there is a sentiment die = I say, BUY IT – you will never regret it it always will be a lifesaver to you…..ALWAYS!
- I adore plaids, no secret about this…and this fabulous paper come in a paper stack so you will get 24 of these 6" X 6" plaid papers.
- Stampin' Up! came out with the Real Red Envelope Paper….not only is it a dream machine to work with – it is soooo darn affordable – 20 sheets for just $6.00
Let's get to more pictures and I hope that you stop back tomorrow to see what I did….I must admit – I have not made tomorrows card but it is in my hear and I am hoping that it will turn out, "just the way I vision it' – I know, it's weird – I think of ideas at the strangest times~ some work…some don't – but that's life….right?
I used as I always do when using sentiments…the vanilla coaster board…to me, it is like "peanut butter and jelly" – very 2nd nature to me when using sentiments!
To off set the sentiment part of this card, I used the Banner Triple Punch – if you do not have this…..trust me – YOU NEED IT. It is amazing how handy this little gem comes in…a speed tool to the max!
I should have put on my list of things that I love about this card is the Bakers twine……I still laugh every time that I use it as I will say that it took me YEARS to order my first bakers twine….now I have it in every color and if I see it on clearance – I still buy it – as it is so easy to use….and it is a dream machine to work with!
After I adhered the sentiment of "merry" on my white banner, I thought that there was too much white on the bottom and truthfully, I did not want to start over and thought how can I make Lemonade. A simple 1/4" piece of the real red envelope paper did the trick and then I used the bakers twine to add interest!
Well…thoughts? How do you like it – to me it is "Susan Card" – well I know that this seems silly as of course I would like it if I made it but that it not always true….I do try to share with you a wide interest of cards but one thing that you can always count on from me….it will be super clean and super simple!
I was true to my word yesterday and I locked myself in my work area and worked and worked! I am leaving to "play with horses" on Tuesday and I have many commitments that need to be out the door! Today will be another productive day for me.
Please come back tomorrow and see the changes I made. If things go the way my brain sees it – I think that you will like it….there are always many ways to do things and it is fun to share them with you!
ANIMAL UPDATE! – ( I must say, I adore that you all love my furry friends)
Let's start with Eddie….he is doing great – gaining weight, his energy level is super…I think he wants to continue to bring joy to our families life. You have no idea how special he is to me…we have 4 Jack Russell's and he was our 1st! Caleb…..he wishes you could play with him!
Now to Milo…he is going no where….he is her with our other mis-fits and is doing fabulous! I took him over to see Earlene and I was hopeful that it was going to be a positive and heartfelt visit. It was….and I was thrilled.
When she opened the door a huge smile was on her face when she saw him. He went right into her house and went to the kitchen where his water bowl was and she was so touched that he remember….she pulled out a bowl, filled it with water and the rest is history!
I cannot convey how special this dog is. Growing up, we had Dachshunds and maybe I am touched by memories, but the minute I saw him I knew that he was a special guy and I immediately thought of Earlene.
Even though it did not work out, her heart is beaming that this special little guy will come to her home for visits and who knows….maybe slumber party with his "Nana"!
Enough about the critters….I do hope that you enjoyed today's card…I think that it is fun, clean, classic and very duplicable!
Until tomorrow….have a fabulous day!
Cute card. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow’s stepped up one brings.
I’m not sure if I like the card better or the fun doggie photos! It’s always wonderful to see a part of your life that is important to you, and when it comes down to it, Everything you share is Important to you! Thank you for the updates; so glad that Eddie keeps on improving and Milo loves to visit Nana! Super cute and fun Christmas card, Susan! I think the plaid makes it special along with your fun dashes too~ I love those little hanging stars on the tail of the Merry. ~Hugs
The card is so detailed oriented and I love it.
The animals stories always put a smile on my face. Oh, the cards do to, now that I think about it!!!
Take it easy.
🙂
Love your blog………I never miss it LOL. I too am such an animal lover. Glad to hear your Eddie is doing well.
hugs and thanks for sharing.
Your card is great…definitely a Susan card…fresh, clean and crisp! I love the sentiments as well and the coaster board trick really brings it to the next level. Milo and Eddie are so adorable and lovable! The stories and pics are super cute…thanks for sharing, Susan.
Happy Saturday, Susan. This card is really great on so many levels. I can see making many of these for the holiday. I need to start taking your advise and use the coaster board…what a difference it makes. So happy that Eddie is rebounding, you can’t keep a great dog down! And Milo has captured my heart. I have a 16 yr. old Daschund, Tess, who I savor everyday I get to love her. Have a wonderful day.
Gorgeous card. Can’t wait to see your Sunday card!
Dachshunds are our favorite dogs, we had two in our lives. Such loving dogs and Milo is beautiful.
Oh Susan, you already stepped up their version! I thought their card was o.k. but today’s is much better with the addition of the dashes, baker’s twine and red strip AND those cute little dangling stars! Plus, I am sure you raised the MERRY with your coaster board whereas did they? To step it up more your could bling the stars, and maybe add candy dots to the upper corners of the banner. Or even maybe mat the banner in the red or green? I was wondering if the new red little stripped ribbon would work under the baker’s twine. Or, you could even use the white and gold baker’s twine or the new gold cording? Otherwise, I would leave this beauty as is-sort of a rustic look but a fun one that I love!
Animals, love your pictures and stories! Earlene will have to keep a special bowl for Milo and lots of treats for him.
Susan, I just LOVE your card. Simple and elegant is what I like. So you have 4 Jack Russell’s. Thats awesome. They are adorable dogs and I love the Dachsand. I just bought a puppy last Saturday. He is a Chiweenie and he’s so adorable. The minute I saw him I was in love with him. My 2 cockers aren’t so thrilled at times but they will be fine once they get used to him. My cockers names are Thunder and Storm. The Chiweenie is Jax. My husband said NO MORE DOGS but I bought him anyways, lol…. He’s fine with him now. I knew he’d get over me getting another dog.lol…. Have a great day. Looking forward to tomorrow’s card.
Susan, as usual, a beautiful card especially your dressing it up with the red CS and added the bakers twine. Am soooo happy that Eddie is doing so well and Milo is fitting in with the family. Thank you for sharing your life with its ups and downs.
Fun card today and you are absolutely ridiculous get about coaster board. It is just what a diecut sentiment needs for greatest impact. I use it all the time (thanks to you).
The dog pictures are so sweet. Thanks for keeping us up to date.
I forget to use the Coaster Board on my thinlits …thnx again for reminding me. I am like everyone else in loving those adorable stars dangling !
Your pups bring back memories of Penny (our Jack Russell) and Gretchen (our Doxie) Love seeing them and SOOOOO glad Milo is in a home that loves him .
After your doggie update I almost forgot there was a card in this blog post. I love your version of the card in the catalog. You jazzed it up from the original already. I’ll have to see what you did to add oomph to this one.
