Good Morning…..well….did you sleep? Did you have fun looking at the new catalog? My poor catalog looks like it has been through a war as it has been flipped through so many times….I guess I should say that it is well loved!
From the feedback I have had, you all love it and I do as well – soooooo many bundles (woot-woot, an instant 15% off – you can click here to see them in one spot, the new designer series papers are "off the charts", and one of my new favorites (truly must have) are the black and gray ink pads – they are fabulous!
Let's get to why you are here and let me explain the title for todays post. Sometimes we need to have a card that can be for many different uses….that's what I call a good old "multi purpose card"…WHY??? EASY = it is super clean and simple and can go for both masculine as well as feminine and all you have to do is change up the sentiments – PRESTO = DONE!
I needed to make a card for my children's God Father…and this is also a tough time of the year for him as next week will be a year that he lost his Dad so I wanted to make something that I could wish him Happy Birthday but at the same time be able to write him a heartfelt note letting him know I'm think of him.
The color of this card is the wonderful neutral, Sahara Sand….I thought that this would be a great pick to use with the mossy meadow and the liner from the Farmers Market Designer Series Paper.
The 2 stamp set that I used are both keepers, the Lightheart Leaves and Cottage Greetings (love both of them – very, very versatile choices).. I know that it is not recommended to use the Aqua painters with regular card-stock but if you "practice and get pretty slick at it" – you can make it work!
Now let's chat on 2 things!
- You can see that I used (2) greens….have fun mixing up the colors when you watercolor – I ued Mossy Meadow and Old Olive and then Rich Razzleberry as the Blackberry was too darn…again, play and test as sometimes you need to tweak things!
- Did you see where the sweet ribbon/treads came from…yep – so easy….just pull the treads from the 5/8" ribbon – works like a charm.
I had to do a bit of scored lines…you know I love to do that as I find it super effective. I "touched" on the new Black Ink….well it is fabulous (now I still have a love affair with the Memento) but this is a super rich, dark and leaves such a precise stamp…you can see the crispness on the card!
I say…."One Sweet and Clean Card"….what do you think? Because I wanted to have the envelope match, I used a piece of Sahara Sand with the Envelope Punch Board. I just love this piece of plastic – and it helped me also make the liner for the envelope from the Farmers Market Designer Series Paper.
Now we need to have some fun…..I said the other day that we need to play a game….and the game is called – "HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW SUSAN" I just love games!….Take the new catalog and see if you can pick out the 10 favorite things that you think I would just have to have.
On Friday I will share with you my picks and have a video for you…this should be fun – it will be super hard to narrow it to 10…but we will have fun…..(I'll give you a freebie of one of them – one of the products are in this post) – remember, it is going to be hard for just 10 and it will include anything in the new catalog!
Since we all seem to be family and if you want to leave a comment with the picks – I know that we all would love to see how well you think that you know me and my style!
Thanks for sharing time with me today, remember the offerings of rewarding you with orders you place with me and this new catalog but please remember to use the hostess code of YHNMUJNJ for you to get the fun freebies from me!
You will love tomorrows card (I think) – and I hope to see you back!

This card is fabulous! Simple yet beautiful. You are simplicity at it’s best!
OMG, I can’t even pick out MY ten favorite new products how would I pick out yours? Ha. Ha. I do like this card very much. I like the simplicity of it and you can, like many “Susan Cards”, leave the sentiment off until you need it. The colors are nice and the coloring is great. I’ll work on that list . . .
🙂
Hi Susan, thanks for sharing this beautiful card, and for inviting us to guess your top ten picks from the holiday catalog. Just want to make sure I understand the game… Anyone that takes a guess by Friday will receive a freebie from you? Thanks for confirming the rules of the game.
I’m with Nancy–I can’t pick out my top ten so how can I choose yours?? I will give it a shot. Today’s card is beautiful and I like the simplicity of it. Your friend will appreciate it. Do you want us to leave our answers in the comments or email you?
Terrific card! I haven’t had the chance to read email for a couple of weeks and I’m not going to get caught up for at least another week. I miss reading your posts and seeing your lovely projects. Now I really do want that leaf stamp set. I was dithering with myself. So many stamps, so little time and money!
Cyberhugs!
Definitely a multi=purpose Susan card! Heck, we need to get this set just because of Susan’s card! I do like the idea of making the card and leaving the sentiment off to add when needed. It is so gender friendly too. Wonderful!
I gotta figure out the Pick-10 and post it later. I have no idea of what my favorites are so choosing yours will be even harder or actually maybe easier? Who knows?
Great card, Susan. I love the versatility of it, as well as its simplicity. Great coloring too. Your blog is one I open first in the morning to get a dose of your creativity to get my day going on the right foot.:-)))
Another simple, yet beautiful card. It’s so hard to imagine all of your top 10, but I assume Lighthearted Leaves is among them. It’s definitely one of my favorites – so much that it tipped the scales for me to buy the Vintage Leaves Bundle so I could have it all! The versatility of this set seems limitless.
Dear Susan, your card is so pretty. I love it the simplicity of your card, yet it is very elegant at the same time. I agree with most of your readers. I can not even begin to guess my favorite things in the new catalog. There are so many to choose from. I am going to have a tough time choosing Susan’s 10 favorite. Have a great day, please say Happy Birthdsy to your God Son. Please tell him I will keep him in my prayers at the loss of his Dad. Hugs, Ellen Hinds
Love this card. Wondering if you got my message I sent yesterday, I want to place a big order but could not get to where I could do that. Maybe u could help me. Let me know. Thanks
Another wonderful card, Susan. It has all the characteristics of a “Susan” card. Clean, simple, versitle, and plenty of style. Loved how you used the threads from the ribbon to create a great bow. (Very clever and thrifty!) I like how the ribbon looked fringed too. Am off to create my list of your favorites. It will probably be more about my favorites, but that’s ok, it will be fun.
Very nice card! Definitely a Susan card and one for me to CASE! Love how you used the ribbon threads for the bow…so creative! Now on to the 10 favs…I agree with all the others….10 is very hard since the catalog is so great but here goes. Susan’s must haves: 1. Lighthearted Leaves; 2. Oh What fun; 3. Happy Scenes bundle; 4. Jingle All the Way bundle; 5. Peaceful Pines Bundle; 6. Spider Web Doilies; 7. Curvy Corner trio punch; 8. Thankful Forest Friends; 9. Fine Tip Glue Pen; 10. A Little Something, Square Pillow Bundle. So fun!!
Awesome card! Love the “ribbon”!!!!
Susan, today’s card is lovely. It is simple, yet sophisticated. I just love it.
I thought about the 10 “Susan Favorites” and came up with; the Happy Haunting DSP paper and Christmas Merry Moments DSP paper stack (2), stamp sets of Your Presents and Happy Scenes (2), Christmas Greeting thinlits (1), the Acorn Builder punch (1)( even though this bundles with Acorny Thank-you Stamp set, I think that it would be the punch that is the favorite), the Hall-o-ween Treat Stamp Set and the Boo! to You Framelits Dies can be bought as a bundle so I counted it as one choice since I am sure it’s like potato chips and no one could just have one, the Black Archival Stampin’ Pad (1), Home foe Christmas Enamel Dots (1) ,and the Woodland texture Folder (1)! That’s ten! Looking for to seeing what everyone else thinks.
Sorry about the couple of type errors. Proof reading isn’t my strength.
Susan, this is a great card, and could easily be used as a sympathy card as well as a birthday card.
Thanks Wanda – It really is quite pretty using the Sahara Sand! Thanks for your time in popping in!
I hear you my friend – 10 is next to impossible but I am going to try….it is a fabulous catalog!

Caleb and I sat down this afternoon and went through the catalog and I realized my son has quite a memory of the things you have made lately!! The first one on the list is actually a “top pick” for Caleb because he LOVES penguins, but he is hoping its on your top 10 list too. Here goes: 1. Snow Place/Snow Friends Bundle 2. Happy Scenes Stamp (bundle bonus!) 3 &4. Howl-o-Ween Treat & Boo To You framelits 5. Archival Stamp Pads 6. Real Red Envelope Paper 7. Lighthearted Leaves Stamp Set 8. Seasonal Frame Framelits (bundle bonus!) 9. Woodland TEF 10. Home For Christmas DSP (Note…Caleb wanted to put ALL the DSP on the list because he knows you love all types of DSP but I “made” him limit it to only one of them since we were on our 10th pick).
Thanks for the game, it was fun!!
Thanks for clarifying this, Susan! I appreciate your reply.
Hi Susan, A friend of mine told me about your blog and I have been following you every morning for awhile now. I really love your cards. They are gorgeous and I love how you make them simple. I love this one and the one you did with the Vintage Leaves. I never thought I would use the sets with the leaves but now I’m rethinking it. They are so very pretty and would make beautiful masculine cards, which I have troubles with. Thank you for sharing. Let me see since I’m new here,lol….. 10 huhhhh??? 1.Festive Fireplace Bundle 2.Snow place Bundle 3.Lighthearted leaves, of course 4.Happy Scenes Bundle 5.Home For Christmas DSP 6.Curvy Corner Trio Punch 7.Jingle All The Way Bundle 8.Woodland Textured Embossing Folder 9.Spider Web Doilies and 10. Fine Tip Glue pen……. All these are actually some of my favorites.. Actually I’d like it ALL…. Have a great day and God Bless
Remember wrinkles build character and that is a good thing especially if they are laugh lines!
