I told you that I had today's card…."in my head" and it worked! I just love that when it happens! I know that many of you might think that yesterdays card was harder but remember, sometimes it is not about being hard….it is about how you can change tings up and make it "feel" different!
For me,,,whipping out the sentiments in the coaster board is super easy – once you get used to it – SUPER EASY! Today I did the opposite – I used the framelit to be flat, nestled in….and it produces a super fun look!
Here you go with then side by side….I think that it is a super card and I would be super proud to send this out to family and friends! SIMPLE….CLEAN – DONE! (just the way I like it)!!!
Hopefully the following 3 pictures will help you see the stages that I did to put the sentiment in and also how I secured it.. As alway, please feel free to email me if you have specific questions. I just love the color scheme and the plaid is always so festive and fun
We need to talk if you do not have this punch – I admit, when I saw it come out I thought that it was a silly punch but trust me, I am eating my words! – I love the ease of it and I love that you can really do any size that you need!
DOTS….DOTS ! I love my DOTS! The best advice I can give you is – JUST GO FOR IT….trust me, I make boo-boos all the time but that does not stop me – Remember,,,,we are NOT Hallmark!
You know me,,,the envelope is my favorite,I used the same color scheme I as yesterday!
I think that it is amazing at how changing the background paper makes a huge difference! I adore Mossy Meadow – I think that it adds a richness and depth.
It is just a personal preference….you simply cannot go wrong with either one!
Here is a run down of the dimensions for today's card! As I said yesterday, this would be a super easy card to mass produce and it is so affordable as the paper stacks….YEP – a blue ribbon winner. You will see all of the goodies I used in the strolling store! (Isn't that great that you can shop from your home and in your jammies!)
Here you go!
- A-2 base in thick whisper white….yep – it is the best, could not… would not be without it!
- The Mossy Meadow is 4" X 5 1/4"
- The Plaid is 3 1/2" X 4 3/4"
- The White Banner Piece id 1 1/2" X 5 1/4" – (remember, you want to add additional langth as it will get snipped shorter once you use the banner punch – the best rule of thumb I use is add 1/4" for each side)
- The Red Banner is 1 5/8" X 5 1/2" (and YES – I did use the envelope paper and it worked like a charm, I was worried that because the paper was so thin that I would not get a "clean" cut but it works great. The sentiment was also using this paper.)
- White gel pen….you just have to have it!
There you go! Simple changes to give a little different feel and flair! I hope that you enjoyed this post.
Pop back tomorrow and you will be hungry for some sweets! Get ready to run to the grocery store, I will share with you a yummy that is a huge tradition in our home!
Love both cards and I think you are way better than Hallmark!!
I like both cards, Susan, with the plaid DSP. Thanks for the tips about how to put the sentiment back into the die cut space. I always look forward to your two cards on the weekends. Have a great week.
Both cards are a winner. You really showcased how much difference a background makes. The green gives a whole different feel to what is essentially the same card. They are gender neutral, but I would probably give the green to a guy. Like I said, love them both.
Hi Susan, First I agree with gainesca, you are better than Hallmark! I like both cards, but I prefer Sunday’s card better. I didn’t know it until I saw the two cards side by side. I like the green layer and the red layer against the plaid and I always love your dots.
🙂
Love today’s card! Isn’t it amazing how the green changes the look. I think somehow the green makes the plaid more vivid. Great idea to inlay the sentiment too. Well done!
I like both cards, but I usually like both cards since I have. Hard time deciding. I love that paper stack and punch! And the new thick whisper white card stock is a dream come true, I think I could keep SU in business just buying it, LOL. And I agree with the others, yo’r y better then Hallmark, keep up the great work and sharing your ideas.
Susan, Both cards are SUPER… I love how you used the White Gel Pen to make a frame on the green on today’s card. I think I would still add the white baker’s twine…. LOVE them both. Thanks for sharing.
I like both but I think I like today’s the best! Either way both are way better than the one in the SU catalog!!! I think I like today’s for the mossy meadow background mat. I love red but the green makes it seem richer looking but I love the red mat to the banner! Plus, I think I like it without the baker’s twine which surprised me! I am undecided about the Merry part since I don’t have those. The little dots and the candy dot are just plain fun! Love what you did. I gotta get that paper stack for sure. who knows maybe I will try a blingy version with all my little ideas but then again I will admit it, I am pretty lazy these days!
Yeah – I am glad that you enjoyed them. Thanks for popping in!
I thought it would be fun to try the words sentiment thing and it worked and better yet, it was easy – please try it
I agree and I do think it is fun to try different color as it always surprises you with the effect.I have found that there are “sleeper colors” that I will play with and I am amazed with how they look!
I am usually a big real red fan but I agree, the green just make such a warmth! You made me smile….always!
Great point….maybe that what it was…I love both of the colors and as I just said to Nancy I am usually a Real Red person for the holidays but I like the green better!
Well I think between you and I we are buying that card stock up! I ADORE IT and can not imagine using the regular weight for a card base! Dittos on the paper stack….they picked some great ones!
That white pen is my BFF….I have many of them….”just in case” I was thinking about the bakers twine….it would have just taken a second and maybe you are right….
We are thinking alike…..AGAIN! You know I am a girl that loves her dots!
Hey! I didn’t think you could outdo yourself but you really did!
