I am so happy that I made you smile yesterday with “Mr. Llama”...or is it Larry, Liam, Lawrence, LeRoy ?????? – I loved Chris R’s comments about naming him….well, I ask you…
WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT THIS GUY?
What is his name going to be? This must be a cousin as he has a different expression on his face and I must say, he seems quite proud of himself that he is all “decked out with lights“! This sneak peak is from the new upcoming catalog and it is called, Fa-la-la-la Friends – just adorable and even better, it is a photopolymer stamp set!
Today I stamped him with Black Archival Ink and then using the Aqua Painter, I gave his a super quick “go over” in Sahara Sand…super fast, super easy. On other pictures you will see that I added a bit of blushing bride to cheeks as well as the inside of his ears and then the lights, Real Red and Garden Green! I know that it is next to impossible for you to see but I did add Wink Of Stella to the light bulbs and it is just adorable in person.
You can see that the framelits that are in the below bundle work for the cousin today! SMART MOVE Stampin’ Up! and you just wait…I will have more fun with this one…you can bet that! I have the CUTEST IDEA in my pea-brained head…..only for it to work…..that will be later this month!
For those of you that order from me, you should receive your Holiday Catalog from be by the end of the week. Make sure when you see that envelope, you carve out some “me time” to take it all in!
Darn I wish that I could share with you all of the new paper like I usually do with DSP collections….but until then, you will just have to trust me that there are some keepers! This paper is from a 6″ X 6″ paper stack called Warmth & Cheer and I think that the name is sooooo darn tootin’ appropriate as there are some amazing plaids ( and you all know, I am MAD ABOUT PLAID) but there are also some great “traditional Christmas” prints that just bring “Warmth & Cheer” to you!
I did the same trick for the banner, it is really so simple….just cut out 2 of the framlits in what ever color you are working with and snip….green glue….DONE! This is a great effect and wouldn’t it be fun at different lengths on a vertical card like streamers for a celebration?
I hope that this 2 day post warmed your heart even if it is over 90 degrees in many places…Before we end…I want to chat about the cactus…in reading your comments I laughed and then I asked James and John….they laughed at me to and said, Llamas and cactus are not together….well you will love my answer and I am going to stand by it….
THE DARN CACTUS WAS ON THE STAMP SET….(and they look cute together)
Now go have a great day!!!! Thanks for sharing your time, coffee, thoughts and friendship!
Ha, la, la, la! Very cute.
So cute and funny! Love his expression of “oops, did I do that!” I think he had too much Christmas cheer and wondered off into the desert and came upon the cacti. These cousins are quite the unique pair! Have fun today ?
This one is “too” cute, too. Love it when Stampin’ Up carries the framelits and cycles them up into the holiday season. Looking forward to getting my catalog!
Hilarious card! He looks like a little kid who got caught with his hand in the cookie jar; or, a dog who got caught sneaking a bone. Anyway, great job today!! Have a great day.
What a fun, cute and creative card that brings a smile to my face. He definitely has a “see me” attitude today, where yesterday’s card was a sweet smile. Both are great cards.
Yesterday’s comments from Chris R. tickled my funny bone. My thought immediately was how do we know this is a guy llama. I was thinking of Lucy, or Lulu. You all definitely know more about llamas than me…….but John obviously knows more than all of us. I just had a discussion with my husband, Tim and he says the same as John and your son….the cactus doesn’t go with llamas…..hahaha. I am in your camp, Susan….if it’s in the darn stamp set and it’s cute….use it!!!! Ok, so about the card………..cuteness plus!!!! I laughed out loud a few times. I can picture several of my friends doing the same if they opened it during the holidays. Your attention to the little details always inspires. I have so enjoyed this weekend’s cards!!!!!
Saguaro cactus (not cacti, only tourists say ‘cacti’) is only found in the Sonoran Desert, which is in southwestern AZ and CA and northwestern Mexico. I believe that llamas are from South American, so yeah they don’t really go together but the world is global now and llamas are everywhere even in th Sonoran Desert. Plus this is art!
More llama logic for you. In Spanish speaking places the two LLs together are pronounced as a Y. We have cholla cactus here, pronounced Choy-ya. However we say Lah-ma just like everyone else, but go down to Peru and they call them Yah-mas. Probably the more traditional Spanish speakers around here call them Yamas as well, but I’m surrounded by the ones who have been Americanized so I hear lah-ma.
Anyway, you are evil. I need the old llama set and I’ll NEED the new llama set. Yes, my life will be incomplete without them.
I’m looking forward to seeing the holiday catalog!!!! (Holliday catallog?)
I made sure I swallowed my coffee before I opened your post today 🙂 This Llama is every bit as cute as his/her cousin!! I never would have known if a cactus belongs with a llama or not but, like you said, it is in the stamp set so surely Stampin’ Up thinks they do. Thanks for two adorable cards and lots to think about this weekend!!
This card is so stinkin cute and who says you can’t have desert llamas? I think the cactus and llama go together, your card wouldn’t be nearly as cute without the cactus, lol.
You all cracked me up so much that my peep home from college had to ask what I was laughing at, and of course I had completely forgotten the coffee warning…
Very cute and all dressed up for the holidays. Is there another llama with the Fa la la la Friends or is just the holiday lights on it? I can just envision a Santa hat or elf hat and ears on this critter! We could go with Lupe even if I didn’t mention that name before. Larry and Lupe? Tricia – what did Caleb think of the names? I love that holiday paper pack. I have seen it on Mary FIsh’s holiday haul and it looks like a winner. I can’t wait to see the catalog. In these times, it is good to have a little smile or a chuckle – thank you Susan for making us smile with these two posts!
Susan, you tell James and John that Llamas and Cactus DO go together. Arizona is where Sahuaro Cactus are (that’s the cactus in the stamp) and we do have Llamas. Check out the escaped Llamas from Sun City Arizona. They made national news! LOL – it was pretty hysterical! The news called it Llamas on the Lam!
I do not know why someone did not think of a girl`s name ? Maybe Laverne !
Love the Llamas on the Lam ,Donna !!!!
Donna is right about the Llamas on the lam too! I googled that set and the set is so much fun and the sayings! I had not seen it in anyone’s holiday haul yet. Totally cracked me up. I won’t spoil it for anybody with the other cast of characters! I will begin a quest for girl llama names though Laverne was the first I though of. Not a Linda or a Lois. Lucy, Libby, Lenore, Lisa, Latisha, But, to me they are just two boy cousins hanging out but what do I know?
Some more girl names: Lorna, Lori, Laurie, Laura, Louisa, or Lacy – she could wear a lacy blanket! Mike has an aunt Lydia. Enough, my brain will explode!
I think their names should be Llarry and Llucy (pronounced La-Larry and La-Lucy). I’ve always joked with my grandchildren that I was going to get two llamas (always pronounced it la-lama) and name them L-larry and L-lucy. They always giggle and say it isn’t la-lama, it’s llama! When I retire, I really think I might get me two la-lamas! 🙂 Already purchased this set and will definitely have to have the Fa-la-la-la Friends, as well!
Too much fun! Maybe you can make them la-lama cards for Christmas!
