Good morning! I know that many of you enjoy when I share a great tip or trick with you and I think that this one….you will be doing the happy dance. If you are having your morning coffee, put on your “to do list” for the day to go to the store and get a couple of these products and then have fun getting started!
I find we are all so different in what inspires us…who inspires us and then when you think about it, why do they inspire us. Well, Jennifer McGuire is an inspiration to me. She is not a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator but she is one sharp and smart cookie that always leaves me feeling inspired.
A couple of weeks ago, she had this video on her You Tube Channel. I went bonkers over it as it was like “SOMEONE HIT ME ON THE HEAD” and I immediately knew that this system would be a HUGE help to me. I have a TON of cards and many times when I make a card I make several….sometimes up to a dozen if it is one that I adore.
I cannot tell you how many time I have gone to look for a card (that I know I have) only to go through this…and that….and then this… and then that – DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR TO ANYONE or am I on an island by myself?
Well….here you go – look at this beauty! The sky is the limit as to what tabs you want. In the video you saw that she used clear envelopes to keep her cards stored and clean. I also did this ~ now I know that you are thinking, THAT IS A WASTE…but hear me out!
I adore our clear envelopes and I think that this is a wise move to put them in the envelopes as it keeps them clean and you can reuse the envelope again as you send and make cards! Also, if you are a person that “sells” cards, the clear envelopes are a perfect way to tuck your business card in with the card.
Here is a side view….“Isn’t it JUST BEAUTIFUL” – For a crafter you will know exactly what I am talking about when you see a “thing of beauty” like this. We put so much love and time into our cards….they deserve an effective way of being organized!
I did purchase the bin at Bed Bath & Beyond and yep….used a coupon for it! I NEVER go to that store without a coupon. You also can purchase them from amazon but with the coupon they are $5.00 less than Amazon (just trying to help you out) 🙂
I will say that I like the ones from Bed, Bath & Beyond better because there is a lip on the front. That makes it easy to pull off my shelf (but that is a minor detail)
Do you remember a past Tuesday Tip that I shared with you cutting up the plastic vinyl folders? CLICK HERE to see that post. NOW is the time to go and buy them with Back To School sales….at Walmart I found them for 10 cents a folder….now that REALLY MADE ME HAPPY as they are so handy to cut up and label away!
Also….remember the “cube” that I use to put my 6″ X 6″ paper in…..They are at Walmart in FUN colors for $1.00 a piece and Target had them in Black and a Dark Grey for the same price. These cubes are great to have for not only your DSP but for projects that you are working on and want to stay organized. Each month when I do my Stamp of the Month kits…this is how I stay organized through the sorting process.
Still a MUST HAVE, a P Touch Label Maker….Amazon BY FAR is the best deal!
There you go my friends…I hope that this HIT you like it HIT me and I am so happy that I have my cards organized so it is a cinch to find something to send out. John asked me yesterday for a baby boy card and a sympathy card for some clients….I even think he was amazed that I was able to POP upstairs and be back in a jif with some options for him! (you will see the baby card tomorrow….it is super cute)
Now go get going so you can join me in doing the HAPPY DANCE!!!! See you tomorrow…. 🙂

Great tip and great advice! I also have my cards stored similar to your method….fast and easy to find while staying nice and neat. Have a fun day!
This does not surprise me one bit…being the keeper of the sheep, I am sure your cards are in order!!!! Hugs my friend!
Oh Susan, these ideas are great! You are going to get me out of my old shoe boxes! Just have to stop playing with the supplies and organize them!!!
PLAY…ORGANIZE…..PLAY….ORGANIZE???? Stick with PLAY – sounds like fun!
What size is this container? Thank you
You are the queen of organization!! Thanks for sharing!
I learn from you!!!!
Great minds think alike, Susan! My container will arrive tomorrow. Thought I might use it for my dies or embossing folders and if I like that, I’ll get more for my stash of cards. Thanks for sharing.
Containers to me are “prized possessions” – I love to find a way to store things! Have fun organizing!
I, too, admire Jennifer McGuire’s cards and organizational tips. I have needed to organize my cards for a while and now I know how I’ll do it. Thanks for today’s tips. I need some of the vinyl folders to complete my project. TFS
She is one amazing lady that I admire soooooo much! I just love her outlook on everything that she does! Stock up on the folders while they are on sale!!!
Well Princess Judy – we don’t have to buy stuff to make the card today but oh the Big O word instead. For now, I am still going with my boxes with lids – just have to work on the dividers and then gather all the cards up from all over the house! I just must not be looking in the right place for those plastic dividers to label. I need to order another tape for the printer thingy now that I have found it and it has new batteries in it. I just came from making cards with the CTMH demo. I was in a hurry coming in the door and headed straight for the bathroom – I bet I dropped them in there – on the counter! Not everyone has cards in the bathroom, I know. Anyway, I should go gather them up and put them in the box now before they get mislaid or something unfortunate! Oh, I did buy the 6×6 inch plastic cube box things for DP though I am doing something else with mine. They were on sale for 97 cents and I bought 10 of them all in black. You just never know when you may need more than a couple. They had some bright pink, lavender, turquoise and another color but I stayed with the black. Now, if only I could get that awful wallpaper taken care of in my room I would be better off. Oh and I have you know the chair in there is clutter free now and a wider path has been made the other day. Also, I actually made up an old kit and actually mailed one of the cards! Maybe there is hope for me yet????
Oh Chris….we love you! You know how to bring a smile to our faces when we read your comment! I think we all can relate to cards all over the place. I say – grab a container and do a “search and rescue” all over your house to see how many you can find!!! (that would be a fun game….Teddie can be by your side)
I know it is crazy that they are just 97 cents right now…I am not a fan of Walmart but they have them. The plastic dividers are just cut from vinyl BACK TO SCHOOL FOLDERS!!!! They are super cheap right now so stock up! They come in so handy but what is the MOST HANDY is the label maker – I love it!
Susan, Will you share the link for the “cube”? I did a similar storage for my cards. Container store had a tall shoe box with a lid. I did the same plastic dividers, but used the tall show box and lid to keep them clean. Love your organizing tips.
Hi Kathie…there is a link in the post that goes back to the Tuesday Tip with the cubes. I know that the cubes are not the most ideal (or attractive) but they do get the job done. I love the idea of the shoe box with a lid….The Container Store is the best – whenever I am in an area that has one ~ I’m there!
Oh, Susan! Love this idea and your helpful links!! I’m in the middle of moving my crafting space so this is very timely for me. Thx!’
YEAH that you can use this tip……YUCK that you are in middle of moving but the BRIGHT SIDE is….once you get everything where you want it – you will be sooooo happy! Good luck, remember ~ there IS an end to a move!
Susan, I love my PTouch label maker, too, but the cartridges are SO expensive at Staples! Where do you get your replacement cartridges?
