I am doing the Wednesday “Hump Day Dance” as this is a card right up my alley! Let’s say S I M P L E all at the same time and then you will see that the 2 things that I always say to you that are true…..
- Use the basics ~ trimmer, big shot, stitched framelits, layering framelits etc…
- Keep it simple – use “shapes” to make a super quick and clean and simple card! I call a card like this a “formula” – a way to use it over and over and the best thing, you will never get tired of it and you will always be able to change it up with different papers and stamps!
To start a great card comes a great stamp set (sounds basic and safe….right???)…and below you will see that I have you covered with this one! (remember, go with the sentiment stamp sets) – you will always smile as you ALWAYS can add accents to make it fun!
Look below to see the points I made – the basics! The framelits are the best but let’s chat about the Bakers Twine! It is the perfect addition to this card. I did run the twine through the bees wax tip (that I have given you before)….and yep – it gives it the “attitude” it needs! It always makes a perfect bow….every time!
Because I used the largest stitched circle and therefore I could not “mat” it with one larger, I just took (2) regular circle and had them “peek” out – just enough to add a touch of color and a natural POP of color happen!
I know sometimes I get asked, “How do you add that Bakers Twine to the back and do the loops”? – Easy answer – just put an adhesive (I like using Fast Fuse) and then JUST DO IT and do not over think it – it is when you start to overthink it for perfection….that it becoame stressful (sound familiar to anyone?????)
For the bow, I just took 3 strands of twine and tied a super basic bow and placed a glue dot…and PRESTO – pushed it on and into place!
I ask you….would YOU love to receive this? I know that after a long day or heck any day…..if I opened my mailbox and saw a classic card with such a great sentiment on it….I would beam! Sometimes we forget how incredibly special it is to just take the time and write to someone.
This would be one of those cards that I would make up in the masses and also use that DSP that I know that you are hoarding….You can accomplish 3 things in a jif!
- YOU will be happy because not only did you have some “me time” but YOU have “created” and when we use that inner creativity that we all have, it feels good!
- YOU will make someones day….a sentiment like this goes a LONG way with so many messages that we would want to convey.
- YOU are using up all of that paper that I know you have that you just sit and admire. I really do not like this example as I think the 1st two are much more powerful but this one it true….we buy things and then we do not use them….so here you go – I GIVE YOU PERMISSION TO USE IT UP!!!! (trust me, you will feel good) and this layout will lend itself to ANY paper we have!
I hope that you are able to “enjoy the little things” today because it IS the little things that grow to be the BIG things that make a difference. I cannot think of one person that would not enjoy and be honored to receive this card….that’s why I say it is a keeper! 🙂
I just love a card like this and I hope that I have inspired you to see that keeping it to the basics just simply works. It is as easy as that! I would love to hear how you like today’s card!
I will not see you until Friday – I will miss you tomorrow but as I like to say “Life is Life” and I need to be where I need to be! Have a fabulous day and go and make a difference to someone! Keep it SIMPLE! (I just love that motto)

Love the basic, simple lines of this card! Very clever using the circles under the stitched one…gives it perfect balance. Definitely going to case this. Thanks, Susan , and enjoy your day.
I know that I am late for replies but I will say – it goes back to the basics and the basic shapes always are a great one to pull out!
I too love the circles under the circle. Clever! Your words spoke to my heart today as I need to make some Enjoy your Day cards and you have shown me it is the simple things in life. Thanks.
Awe Doris….you made me smile….that was so sweet for you to comment on and I think that this sentiment is great for JUST WHAT YOU SAID, there are times that we need reminded….have a fabulous day!
I have used a framelit that is the largest and been bummed that I could not layer it. You have a BRILLIANT idea here! Off to have some me time, use some DSP, and actually send a card! I have a problem letting them go!!!! I mean really, that is just silly!!!
I hear you and I hear you – as I have been there before! Trust me, when I discovered that this could be a solution – I felt like Einstein! (ha-ha…remember, I am SIMPLE Susan)
”Tis true, Ramsey…..hard to let them go sometimes. I needed that little reminder today…it’s why I started making cards!!!!!! This is a wonderful card bound to make someone’s day!!!
I am a big believer that if we have the basic shapes…than lets use them and just play around – it is fun to use elements from more that one framelit set we have!
I was looking at One Sheet Wonder examples on Pinterest last night . My plan was using some dsp that I love ,but need to move on . My plan was to make an assortment of cards to have for “NEED TO SEND A CARD ” time .
Your card is a great way to simplify card making . I also think I NEED that set of sentiments !!
As always SUPER SUSAN to the rescue !! You need a CAPE !!
This is sooooo simple and it is a fun way to “give yourself that permission that we are looking for” to use UP THAT PAPER but the best thing…..it is a GREAT layout and I do agree with you – this sentiment set is great!
Hi Susan, Yes this is a great card and I am going to CASE it right now. I’m all caught up on things and I have an over abundance of DSP. I also have this stamp set, never inked up. I’ll keep you posted. Thanks for the inspiration. I hope tomorrow goes just the way you need it to go.
🙂
I love it! Thanks for sharing that you are just like all of us, having lots of paper and even having a in-inked stamp! YIPPEE – I am not the only one! I know that you are going to feel great creating….go for it!
How much do I like this card? Well, let’s say I hope to find it in my mail box soon! I know my mailman would like to see the envelope as well! Yesterday, it was so nice that Ted and I were sitting out on the porch when the mailman came. He actually asked me how did people make the envelope flaps as he was at the store looking at cards and noticed no fun envelopes. Now, I am sort of guilty, once I get the card made I want to get it in the mail ASAP so I don’t decorate the envelopes that much. Or, if there is a little gift with the card I don’t use an envelope at all. Regarding the added circles – don’t forget if you don’t have the plain framelits or don’t want to hunt for the big circle punch – just use the stitched framelit and cut it apart. Now, for a parting smile for the day, I just looked out the window and there is a giant crane in the next block where they are building a convenience store. The crane is tall and it looks like a giraffe’s neck and head with the big trees covering the rest of the crane. It even has the side view that looks like a face. Through my dirty windows, it just looks like a silhouette of one!
Looks like you are getting a a new store or there is a giant crane that is going to be your friend and clean your Windows! Maybe it is working its way down the street to your house! THAT IS IT…someone won the lottery and is having all of the windows in your town clean for free! Let me know how they look!
I wish. They are building a convenience store in the wrong place and it has caused so much commotion. My stamping friend Rhonda lives across the street from us and the convenience store is almost in their back yard. She also has a B&B room in her historic house so this is really making us sick not to mention the traffic problems, smell and all. Our neighbor has it butted up to two sides of their house which is on the National Historic Register too. I wish we could make lemonade and have our windows cleaned or something but we lost the fight and the beast is going up.
Hello from South Florida! Love your cards, details on how to-do and the joy you share! I’m new to your blog – what is the tape you use on the envelopes? Thank you, Kathy

Thanks my friend…easy and “formula” based…you cannot go wrong!
Absolutely fantastic card, Susan!
I learned from the BEST….you!
Great card, Susan. Definitely a keeper design. I have this DSP but could not imagine how to use it. Now I have your example and it’s perfect.
I think that this is the single paper collection in the catalog that has taken everyone by storm! It is a true keeper! I do hope that you try it!
What a keeper! I love those two circles behind the white sentiment. Definitely talking to me when you say use the DSP and this will inspire me to do it! TFS.
Circles…white paper….works every time!
