Tweet-tweet….I hope that you are having a great weekend! I changed up what I had planned for you today for a simple reason…I was missing playing with my stamps and decided to take a break from working on the product shares last night and I got inky!!!
I have ordered…actually a bunch but I will say the things that I have ordered have mainly been the products needed to fill my shares! Remember, today is the LAST day if you want to sneak in a product share. WHY did I do that? Easy – if I ordered a bunch for myself right now….I know me well enough – I would easily be sidetracked and sneak upstairs and stamp so I guess you could say that I am “exercising stamping willpower”
On Thursday I shared with you a CASE from the catalog…and today is the same! I wanna tell you….the samples and ideas that are RIGHT THERE at our fingertips in the catalog are the BEST springboard for you to CASE. Now go get your catalog and turn to page 220 and here is my inspiration!
As I have been cutting paper into the Swatch Books I have really started to learn and get a feel for each of the offerings. Do you remember during Sale-A-Bration we had the DSP that you could color called Inside the Lines? Well…in the new catalog we have an offering that is the similar idea…it is called, Just Add Color. Let me tell you…it is fabulous! I will blog about that another post…it is super fun and fresh!
The stamp set that I am using today is called Feathery Friends and it has a similar “color me” feel. This is a Host Rewards set and I think that the offering for Stampin’ Rewards Redemption are wonderful in the catalog….please go to 220-223 to see the offerings.
I want you to think back when you were in school and you were sitting there listening, or trying to listen but your pen just kept doodling. This is how I can related to images like this in the stamp set and also in the Just Add Color DSP…they are super simple images that are just BEGGING for a bit of doodle here and there – it is as simple as that and this is what I did for today’s card!
There are so many elements that make me smile about this card. At a glance there seems to be a lot going on but this is a card that you could make in the masses and just have fun with an endless array of color combinations. Here are some things I like about it….
- You can stamp the images…cut them out with the Oval Framelits ….grab a bunch of pens, watercoloring pencils, blender pens etc…and GO TO TOWN! For the card I used the Aqua Painter (as it is my true blue friend) and an assortment of ink pads…that’s how I like to roll!
- The card uses scraps….the DSP is a strip from the Coffee Break DSP that I had that is 1″ wide and then a quick flag on the ends did the trick!
- I ADORE the look of “tone on tone” and if you look at the Soft Sky Card Stock I stamped the images in Versamark to give it a special look and feel…we all need to have Versamark in our stash and also it helped to “condition” my stamps….remember that tip from before?
- The sample that was on the catalog gave me a PUSH to use something that I have but do not use a bunch….Doilies…I think that it just added that “something-something” – sometimes we need that nudge! 😆
- A card like this allows you to add ANY sentiment. Because the image is so general, you could easily put a birthday sentiment, anniversary, thinking of you….or heck – just leave it blank!
- I ADORE using different textures…the wee bit of the burlap ribbon again was the perfect “something-something” to make this card sparkle…do you agree? It is amazing how tucking in a simple glue dot does the trick!
Enjoy the pictures….I hope that it makes you chirp! To me this is a relaxing “therapy card” as face it – there is not a right or wrong way to color this…the only rule is – JUST HAVE FUN!
Please do not overlook my generous rewards program that I offer to my customers that shop with me….collecting Paw Prints is fun but it is even better when you are able to pick a free stamp set.
In addition to the rewards program I am offering another personal incentive to my customers….buy any 3 bundles in the current catalog throughout the year and be able to pick a Host Stamp Set…..now that should make you smile! Trust me, I get it….that these special stamp sets are soooo tantalizing but you just do not want or feel like having an event or hostess code…so here is a solution to that!
Here is a funny for you and I bet that you would not have “caught it” if I did not point it out. Look below at the envelope. Do you see that the flap is straight across? Well, confessions of an honest stamper…..when I went to go trim the excess let’s say I had a bit of “user error” and instead of starting over…I simply trimmed the boo-boo’s off and presto – a fun envelope!
Again, another example of how we can make lemonade out of lemons!
Enjoy your day and I will see you on Tuesday! I wish that I could say that I am having a day off tomorrow….but I will be in the Product Share Trenches work to make a bunch of you have HUGE SMILES….I know you are very eager to get your goodies and I am like Lucy in the Chocolate Shop!
I just turn the music up…sing (watch the dogs turn their heads because I hurt their ears) and just go to town! I have a funny for you on Tuesday….enjoy the day and remember…shopping from home is TOTALLY on trend!!!
This card is delightful, bright and cheery! Coloring is so therapeutic and calming and you did a great job. Ahh, stamping willpower…..that’s hard to do just like resisting chocolate! Enjoy!
You are sooooo right all the way around! Before coming to bed I thought….whew…..a long but great day and I was going to nibble on some dark chocolate…..I know myself well enough – I can’t stop with a nibble. I think coloring is so calming and rewarding!
Love the color and sweet palette. You inspired me to use an Aqua Painter!
YOU inspire me each and every day!
Darn it Susan! I JUST put my big order in last night and now you make me want this set too. This card is gorgeous. Love it. (Sigh). Time to start a new list.
AND FYI the daisy punch and stamp set are obliterated. Not even back ordered. UNAVAILABLE! They will email me when it becomes available. Least I got the little piggies coming my way. ???
Your comment made me smile…and then a good chuckle! I am glad that this happens to others as well – it seems that just after I hit that button that I see something I just “NEED TO HAVE” – I will say….this stamp is a fun one nad oh so easy to use!
I feel your pain about the Daisy Bundle but it will be back! Love that punch!
This card is a smile maker! Love the soft colors and the contrasting brightness of the Feathery Friends. Glad you made yourself some creative time!!! ?
I love what you said….a SMILE MAKER…..so true, so true and the best part – it was FUN!
I had a “oh geez” moment in seeing today’s card. I forgot to put the burlap ribbon on a list. So that was a nice reminder lol. I like these stamps that resemble doodling and that give you fun coloring options. I think this card stands out as an extra special card with some fun elements going on 🙂
Reminding you…..is always a pleasure! I do love this ribbon as it is so easy to use as is or to cut and break it down! Thinking about you……
This card so reminds me of some small Scandinavian towns here in the midwest. Your color choice is spot on too. It makes me want to sit and have another cup of coffee. We use to call it “Linger – Longer” after church.
YES – you NAILED IT….it does have that kinda feel and I think but having FUN with coloring….it is fresh and fun!….Just think if we lived near one another …..it would never get up – we would be the “queen linger-longers!”…but we sure would have FUN!
What a cute card, Susan. Great job! CASEing is a great thing from the catalog or Pinterest. I loved that set as soon as I saw it. I agree with Sharon about the daisy set being on backorder. Ugh! Take some breaks, Susan. All work and no play makes Jane a dull girl!! I love the paper stacks and so happy you go to so much effort to provide them for us. Take care and I look forward to seeing your blog again on Tuesday.
Awe shucks….you made me smile! I agree that we wouldn’t want a dull girl but once I get “set and in the mod” I am a duracell rabbit but I will keep your wise words close to my heart!
I think that we have a bunch of sad stampers about the Daisy thing….and I am sure the one that is the saddest is Stampin’ Up! – a they honestly must have been off in expectations of the popularity of it – We know that it is a keeper so evener I see the GREEN LIGHT on….I will remind!
Ah yes, still in PJ’s and making out my list! A little behind but that is ok because I probably would have skimmed over this set! Silly me, I forget to look at the hostess sets! Thanks for the reminder!!!!
I hear you….as those Host Stamps are way in the back – in a great place to be overlooked! There are a couple that just need to come to Randall Lane….maybe Ramsey needs to come to Randall Lane …..I’m game!
I really do love this one and I also think that the other pieces in this set are going to be great “add ons” to a card – it is super FUN to color!
This card is just adorable and I love the “Susan” touch on it!! Your little doodle lines just make it so much more fun 🙂 I also forgot to look at the hostess stamps. Thank you for highlighting this little gem!!
You know me, I adore my dashes and dots! Sometimes I have to know when to stop!
Oh how sweet ! Love this ! These little birds are so versatile for cards for many events ! Your color choices are so soft and pretty ! You did good in the midst of Paper Prep Pandemonium to put this cute card together !
Yay Susan !!
I like that – Paper Prep Pandemonium – If John says what’s the matter with you….I can just say that I am experiencing PPP……and when he says – what is that???? I will tell him it is my diagnosis from Sonny! Tweet – tweet!!!!
Ah so cute and I love your stepped up version of the catalog’s version! First the tone on tone versamark stamping for the background is great using the flowers from the set. At least yours seem better than theirs but then again I could be biased! I do like your dot/dash treatment theirs is just too plain – even if they used the stitched framelits it would have helped I think. I really liked the piece you used for the flagged ends instead of the white they used. It added a degree of playfulness and a great choice for the envelope as well. I had not even noticed the straight across part on the envelope’s flap as I sometimes just use what envelopes I have on hand which could be ones someone gave me as well. Doilies, well yours are even showcased even more than theirs and a real fun touch. I like the burlap ribbon for some texture and it just looks like an element of nature or something a bird would use on it’s nest. Yes, we have new baby birds and I am hoping they all survive.
When I received the one order recently, I put away all the new toys and didn’t even play. Now, does that mean I am just lazy or saving my goodies for a rainy day or even fancy thinking for hoarding? Speaking of rain, the rain we had recently delayed our roofing until July now. Man, it has been hot and muggy the last few days. I had to bribe Ted with ice cubes and a chewie if we went home without taking my of a walk. It worked!
Don’t stress out about getting us our shares (at least on my part) right away, we need to have you at your best as does John and the fur kids. I think we will understand.
Hello and I am sad for you that it is so hot and icky out. When it is like that here – I stay in…..humidity makes me grumpy! Poor Teddy with the ice cubes – he probably would like a Frosty Paws!
Ok – tone on tone is the BEST and something that I think we forget about. It is sooooooo easy and always gives an amazing result. I think that there are some colors that work better than others but it is definitely one tip to have up your sleeve!
Your card is just darn delightful in every way. It is not too “”cutesy” and all the elements just go together. You are such an inspiration! As others said, glad you made some stamping time for yourself. I loved your comment about turning the music up, while the dogs say “Whaaaaaaat is she up to!”
I am smiling…..I wish that you could see their heads turning from side to side when they see me dance around and sing! I know my secrets are safe with them! I am happy that you liked the card….it’s a fun and happy one!
Love your card. I think I already cursed your name for this set since I talked myself out of it. It still may be mine someday but not this month. As for that daisy bundle, well, I had to say that I thought that was one of the ugliest flowers I’d seen in awhile when I first saw it…. so much space between the petals… then people starting using it. I can totally see the appeal, especially if you layer it. Now I wonder if its unavailability is part of its appeal?
Susan you always brighten my day!! I chuckled to picture you like Lucy in the chocolate factory as you prepare our product shares! ? Thank you for all your hard work and especially for your blog posts!
