I needed to make another Birthday Card and I also knew that I wanted to participate in the Pals Hop today…so I put my "thinking cap" on and came up with the idea of making 2 bookmarks that can be used for later and be super practical at the same time!
Below is the sketch for today's hop! The oober talented Nicole Watt came up with this design and I was happy with my twist on it! We call can use bookmarks…so why not make it fun and incorporate them with today's card!

The card size is 5" X 7"…I decided to make it a bit bigger to have the bookmarks the right size! Here is the scoop on today's card…
- I started with making the book marks! I cut the paper 2" X 5 1/2" and I did (2) in the pacific point and one in white. I thought about cutting the white shorter as you will not see it…but then I changed my mind as I did not want to feel a "lump" where the paper was cut! This gives the bookmark super strong!
- The bundle set I used for this project is the Just Sayin' Clear Bundle…so cute and versatile! I love it that Stampin' Up! has so many bundles for us now…you will save an instant 15%…woot-woot!

- To one of the blue markers, cut the word bubbles out with the desired framelits. Now take it ontop of the white one and trace the image so you can stamp a perfect image!

- Using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig for perfect placement…I stamped the images and then erased the pencil line! YIKES – sorry for the bad pictures….but you'll get the idea! I used the "green glue' to adhere the bookmarks together!

- The tassel was made with the white bakers twine! So easy, so fast…so useful! The added simple touch was with the white gel pen...works every-time and an effect that gives instant dimension!

- It is super hard to see but I used the Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper as part of the backdrop of the card…it is the very faint and subtle dots of light grey! In person it looks super – just a very soft touch!

- Some simple strips of paper across the bottom made the perfect "resting place" for my bookmarks! I did seal the bottom on so they would not slip through! Putting a piece of sticky strip across the back of the white 1/4" stitched grosgrain ribbon….again – just a touch for dimension!

- Because this is an odd size card – I needed to make my own envelope! Easy with the help of the Envelope Punch Board! This gem for just $19.95 allows you to make many sizes of envelopes and also other projects….click here to see the post from the other day that I did when I made a box!
- I lined the outside of the envelope with the same Designer Series Paper…a completed fun card!

I think the thing that I liked about this card is the fact of the "2 for 1" – the bookmark will remind you of this card everytime you use it! It truly is super sturdy with it being a total of 3 pieces of paper!
Pop over to the Pals Paper Art Website and see all of the inspiration from the designers and the entries this week! Please think about playing with us this week….you have until next Tuesday so….get to it!
If you still want to participate it the Spring Card Swap….please send me an email with the subject line saying CARD SWAP. The date for you to get your card to me is Sunday, April 6th.
I sent an email out yesterday to all of the people that have emailed me….so if you did not receive one, please email me! I am thrilled that so many want to participate! I will share with everyone the cards that come my way before I send them out!
Thanks for popping by…please share my blog with your family and friends! You never know when the Blog Candy might be popping up…..(I feel like it has been a while)
Until tomorrow!

We were "YACKING" away…and then it hit me!!!
I quickly looked down on my computer and saw that the date said March 25th and I said – OH NO – yesterday was your Birthday!!! I admit…I totally knew that Jeanie's Birthday was on March 24th and I have egg all over my face!
Jeanie is a totally fun person…one that I have blogged about often and a person that would make you smile and laugh the minute you are with her! She totally loves life…she is sooooo talented with crafts……but more importantly she is an amazing teacher to precious little ones….they are soooooo lucky to have her!
She only teaches in the mornings….and I adore her motto….(she still has a daughter in high school)…ready… –
12 to 3…It's all about me!!!
I just love it when she says that! Jeanie has the most AMAZING craft room and it is sooooo easy to get lost in time when you are there! One day….I went to Jeanie's and John called…saying "Are you coming home soon" – I asked why???…..his response…"The roads are getting really bad with all of the snow"! Now that a FUN time..stamping away!
This is a great example of how we get lost in time! We have known each other for years and we have had many fun times together! She is totally my rock when I cannot figure out how to create something….you have heard me say that I am computer challenged….well I try to keep things so simple that when I see something that totally stumps me…Jeanie to the rescue! (She always laughs at me asking for help!)
O.k. – enough! Let's get to this easy-peasy card…I was inspired by a swap (unforunately, it had no name to give it credit) Jeanie loves this paper and I know it will make her smile! It really is so easy you do not need me….but here you go!

- Using the coordinating colors from this paper stack, the Coastal Cabana is 4 1/4" X 3 1/4" and then the white is 4" X 3 1/4"

- To the candles we go….they are from the same paper stack and the dimensions are 3/4" X 3" each and then the "flame" is from the Bird Builder Punch….(I've told you haw incredible our punches are)

- Is this OOBER easy or what! Just think about how many of these you could whip out!!! I added my "dots and dashes" around the edge of the sentiment part….my way of adding a bit of interest!

- Last but not least – envelope time! A double whammy here….I lined it using the Envelope Liner Framelit and also remember to make the mailman smile before I cleaned my stamp…..I did a simple stamp on the outside of the envelope!

WOOT-WOOT I say!!!! Quick, clean and DONE! This is what I say….my kind of card! I had a late meeting at work last night and did a quick "plan B" for my dear friend!!!!
Please pop back tomorrow to see what I have up my sleeve….one thing that is for sure – it will be simple….as that's me…."simple susan"…..I truly believe that you can make simple, clean and practical cards and projects!
I am over my "pity party" that I had this morning about the unveiling of the new products….it will happen and the best thing – it will mean even more to me as it will be a BIG SURPRISE!
Just a quick note….I have not forgotten about the Card Swap ….and PLEASE email me and put in the subject line CARD SWAP and I will email you my address….I have not had a block of time to group everyone to send my address out…..my goal is to get that to you by Thursday!!!! I have not forgotten you!!!!
Spring is the theme….make a Spring Card and mail it to me….and I will send you another card made by a cyber friend!!!! This will be fun and I will do a post on all of the cards that I participate! The cards need to be to me by Sunday, April 6th…so get going…..I will get you my address!
You all are the best! I hope that you will leave dear Jeanie a comment of "Happy Birthday" as trust me….she is my inspiration for many of the projects I do!
Happy (belated) Birthday my dear friend….I am blessed!
Until tomorrow!

Drumroll….Drumroll….it is Tuesday and you know what that means….it is the day that Stampin' Up! reveals the deals for the week….and I also have a super fun and functional post for you….so what do I do 1st ?
Let's start with the box….and you will need the Envelope Punch Board for this…and if you do not have the envelope punch board….I have a ? for you….WHY NOT? This gem is just $19.95 and it does sooo much – a must have tool!
This box is super easy to make and it is a perfect finishing touch when you want to give a "total gift"…a box of handmade note-cards and envelopes and a container that is equally cute!!!! That's what I call a 2 for 1! I made this card several weeks ago, here is the original post….cute and fun card!

The inspiration for this box came from Jennifer McQuire…she is not a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, she just is one talented paper crafter that I enjoy watching her You Tube Videos! You can click here and see the video on how she made the box, and true, I did follow it ….but I will share with you 2 changes that I made….just a personal preference…
- For a box that fits our Standard A-2 Card…you start with a 9" X 9" piece of card-stock! (see…this is another reason to keep some 12 X 12 paper on hand!!!)
- Using the Envelope Punch Board punch and score at 3 1/2" and then side it over to 4 1/2" and punch and score…following the score lines all the way around…
- Using the corner rounder on the Punch Board – round all corners and then take the bone folder over all scored lines to give you a perfect crease(to me..this is super important – the bone folder really does help make your projects look so professional!)
- Looking at the below photo, you can see that I completely cut off one side of flaps… and the opposite side I just cut in on one side and placed Sticky Strip as shown. (this is ALWAYS my adhesive of choice when making a box)

Here are the 2 changes I did…..I think that this is soooo much easier doing the below BEFORE you pull off the adhesive…
- On the above picture…do you see how I cut a slit on each side and slid the ribbon thru? This was easy using the Stampin' Trimmer – with the clear visual guide…you can put that edge in there and make a cut! HANG TIGHT….this is easy and it will all make sense….PROMISE!!!!

- Do you also see on the above picture that I cut off the flap part ( the pointy part that when you put the box together)…I personally do not like how an envelope looks with that piece sticking up….I slid this in the Stampin' Trimmer and using the guide on the right (much easier) I simply cut off 1/2" I think it is easier to do these 2 steps before you put it together!

- Now you can expose the adhesive and fold it up! I placed a pack of envelopes in there to make the box so I would not pull the adhesive too tight…..basically to "shape my box"

Tie it up…..fru-fru it how ever you like….and get ready to smile! Isn't this just the cutest! So easy…so complete! I just love it and I love that you can make it for the Note-Card Size as well!
I made these adorable little boxes to go in the Silent Auction for Hannah's function…they were so cute and such a hit!

I hope that you make these…they are really easy and it is like that "riding the bike" thing I tell you about…once you get it…..you'll always get it! If you need help – easy, email me and I will be happy to wlak you through it!
Now let's get to the weekly deals!!! Oh no…..please do not think that I am not grateful for Stampin' Up! to do this for us this week….but because on Tuesday they do this…I really….really thought that the Blendabilities were going to be unveiled!
My pick of the week are the Brights and Subltes Core'dination Paper these 2 colors are PERFECT for spring cards! Once you work with this paper, you will see the fibers once they are textured and lightly sanded….to make a project "step up" immediately! Love the look and feel!
O.k. – lesson learned….I woke up early in anticipation for these new goodies, the blendabilities…but I know that Stampin' Up! is going to surprise all of us when they are unveiled…John laughed at me as he saw me log on and he knew I was excited about something and when he herard an "oh,no"….he laughed as he said – you are sillly that markers would get you so excited to wake up to see!!!
Guilty as charged….they will be here when Stampin' Up! is ready to unveil!!!!
Pull out your paper and make one of these adorable and practical holder for cards and envelopes…you can see that the sky is the limit…..
Until tomorrow!

Sorry about the delay for this post…computer charged…good to go!
Woot-Woot…It is Monday! I am looking forward to a week of inspiration to send your way – it is the last week of Sale-A-Bration and you all know that there are some real keepers this year…for every $50.00 order you place, you will be able to pick a FREEBIE…click here to see the offerings!
A couple of things before we get to this FUN card today!
#1 – WOW – I am so happy that so many want to be a part of the Spring Card Swap that I will be doing…click here to see yesterdays post for the scoop! You can make any card your little hearts desire…just make sure that you have your name on it and I will send you someone else’s card! – It will be fun…let’s see how many different states we can get cards from!
#2 – My weekend with Hannah was wonderful and I need to let you know that her Eating House (she goes to Davidson College and they do not have Sororities…they are called Eating Houses) and they had an amazing event …it was for Early Detection for Breast Cancer and these girls raised over 106,000.00!!! Is that amazing or what! There were about 300 people there and WOW…106k….WOWZERS…WOOT-WOOT…these girls did a fantastic job!!!
#3 – The moon and the stars lined up perfectly for me on the way home…years ago, we needed to make a very painful & hard decision to donated Hannah’s horse Millie to a College in Virginia and I stopped by on my way home and not only did I get to see her…they were having a horse show and I was able to see her go! My heart skipped a beat and tears rolled down my face when I called her name and she remembered me…I try to stop and see her when I am in the area but it was the “completeness” of my weekend to she her happy and sound and being able to do a “job” for a great riding program!
Ok – enough about the weekend…I am sorry – I just had to share!

Now is this card super cute or what! This is a card that I did for a basket for Hannah’s silent auction on Saturday…to me, an instant smile comes on my face!
- The base is an A-2 scored at the 5 ½” side!
- The fun DSP is from the Fresh Prints DSP….soooo fun! You can easily do 2 cards from a sheet! The piece on the card is 2" X 4 1/4" and then the little piece of Daffodil Delight is 1/4" X 4 1/4" I highly recommend that you use the RIGHT side of the Stampin Trimmer to make thin cuts….soooo much easier!

- The "Film Frame" was cut out in Strawberry Slush and it is from the On Film Framelits….I took a piece of white paper to stamp my image using the brush end of the markers…and them using the "green glue" I adhered them to the film frame…cute…right??? The stamp set is the fun Perfect Pennants Stamp Set!

- Time for some simple punches!!! The punches I used for this card were the Owl Builder (for the dots), the Boho Blossoms , the Petite Petals punch and the Itty Bitty Punch Set!
TIP ALERT: – Stampin' Up! has HANDS DOWN – the best punches…I realize that we have many but I suggest that you continue to build your inventory of them as you can see by this simple card…it is the punches that give it that WOW!!!!

- Envelope time…I just could not resist the polka dot paper in the same color scheme!!! Too darn cute!!! The envelope liner Framelit to the rescue…and BAM – DONE!

Well…was it worth the wait! I think so! I invite you to look at the "layout" of this card and you will see that you could use many different color schemes and sentiments to make this over and over!!! You have heard me before…when you have a great layout and it "works" for you ….then do it again and again!!!
Tomorrow is the last Tuesday of the quarter and I am hoping that when I wake up tomorrow that Stampin' Up! is going to unveil a NEW PRODUCT….and if so – I know that there will be MANY of you that will want!!! At leadership in January they said that it would be in the 1st quarter and I have been patiently waiting….
So….just in case…I would be thinking of products you might be needing and if my "hunch" is right…you will easily be able to hit that magic mark of $50.00 for a sale a bration item! Remember, click here to go to my on-line store and you can order anytime of the day!
Thank for your patience and I will say…my "fuel tank" was filled this weekend…seeing Ted and he is doing great considering…being with my beautiful daughter…seeing the hard work and dedication these girls did in raising such an AMAZING amount…and then seeing my sweet Millie! All of this in just 2 short days!!!
I hope my "hunch" is right for tomorrow…..have a great day!
