I love it when there is a challenge out there that works for a card that I need to send to someone! This is exactly what today's post is about! Here you go with a clean and simple birthday card that would be "just perfect" for a child's birthday!

When Stampin' Up! unveiled the new Designer Series Papers this year, the minute I saw this "Sweet Taffy" …I immediately thought of birthdays and I think that this strips screams a child's birthday….do you agree?

Look at how simple this layout is – I call this a "keeper" and one that you should make and then use it again and again changing up the sentiment and the paper….easy = DONE!

The elements of the card are very simplistic…I used a combination of the circle framelts (#5) for the sentiment and then I used the 2 1/2" Circle Punch for the layered circle as well as to cut out the piece in the strip of paper.

This is a great basic Birthday Stamp Set, love the name….Remembering Your Birthday. We all have many Birthday cards to send throughout the year, I think that there is something that fit your needs!

I know that this envelope is going to make you smile…another double whammy! I will say, I did use the stamp-a-ma-jig…I wanted to make sure that I was straight! On the inside of the card I stamped a sentiment and added a couple of candles (from the Big News Stamp Set)

Here's a peek of the inside of the card! This is a fun font and the little addition of the candles was the perfect finishing touch!

I hope that you go to The Paper Players Website to see the other fun Birthday Cards that many talented hands created! I just love to see how others view a challenge!

I shared with you that I have had a lot of Birthdays this month but think about this…we all have a birthday every year and we all have many, many people to send cards to! I think that this is fun and a bit whimsical all at the same time!
I do hope that you will give it a try and case away….change up the colors to suit your needs! I adore these Photopolymer Stamps as they are the best for perfect alignment. I must admit, when they first came out with them I was not crazy about them…but a total 360 for me...LOVE THEM! Make sure you see the new stamp that was just released today at the end of the post!
This stamp set is called Age Awerness and it truly has endless possibilities! You can see by the pictures that I have "maxed it out" using many stamps and the "Thanks, Facebook" stamp makes me totally laugh!

I simply adore stripes….the bolder is great with me and this DSP is from the Maritime DSP and WOWZERS – is it handsome or what! I was very happy with the rich and vibrant colors that this paper offers…it does not have to be a "nautical theme" what so ever!

Stamping these adorable candles is EASY -PEASY as you can see right through the stamp! No Stamp-a-ma-jig needed today! I think that it would be super fun to do a bunch of different colors of candles! Because the width of the actual stamp is so narrow, this would be a fun thing to try!

The colors I used were from the DSP…Real Red, Night of Navy and Coastal Cabana. Now that we have the Bakers Twine in this color, I simply could not resist! Please do not stress about it…just let it roll – put some adhesive on the back of the base and go for it!

I love white space….but I did think that I needed a bit of stitching to break it up! This is one thing that I do a bunch and again, please do not stress – just let your pen roll!

You can see that I lined the outer flap of the envelope but I just was oober excited about the front of the envelope today….so easy and WOW – you would laugh if you received this?

I hope that you are smiling! I think that this is a FUN card. It comes together in a flash and this stamp set is one that will be used over again as we ALL HAVE BIRTHDAYS!
I have a word of advice for you….MAKE TIME FOR TOMORROW…it is our monthly BLOG HOP and it is a BLUE RIBBON WINNER…there are over 39 people participating and you are going to be inspired to the MAX!
Thanks for popping by……click here to see the Tuesday Deals that Stampin' Up! has for you this week…and then hit that shop now button while you are in your jammies! How easy and fun is that!
Get the coffee ready for tomorrow and we will HAVE FUN! Enjoy your day and until tomorrow!
p.s. – when I woke up this morning and checked the Tuesday Updates…Look at this new FUN Photopolymer Stamp Set – love it's name…YEE-HAW! It is GREAT! I already have a card in my head!!! Click here to see the flyer!

Before we get to today’s card…many thanks for the special and heartfelt comments and emails you send about our dear Murphy. John came down to be with us yesterday and it was great for him to see Hannah ride and be together! Each day will get better and for those of you that I have been through this…time truly heals the wounds but the great memories are always present.
I have been having so many birthdays lately and I need a masculine card and I think I like it!! After I started to play around, things just came together and then when I stood back and looked at it – I was one happy stamper!
Let’s get going! There are 2 elements that I do not use often and when I do I say to myself “Why do I not use them more?” They are the Stamp Set Gorgeous Grunge and Washi Tape!

- The base of this are is a regular A-2 card but I have the fold to the left. The color of the base is Sahara Sand. (I have to admit – this was one of my least favorite colors years ago…but please try to use it – it is a wonderful neutral for so many color options.)
- The Very Vanilla is 4” X 5 ¼” and using the Memento Tuxedo Ink I gave it a quick stamp with the fun stamp splatter from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set (another confession…when this stamp set came out last year I thought it was the worst new stamp set in the catalog…WOW, was I wrong. It truly is very versatile and I find it to be a life saver for quick fillers!!!

- I scored it with the Simply Scored at ¾” and then just one more larger (7/8”)…then placed my washi tape and then did a similar score on the other side…so easy – yet so effective! True you can use the Stampin’ Trimmer but I think using this tool gives you a much deeper and effective embossed score line.

- The sentiment is from the Four You Stamp Set and this is one that should be on your shelf of goodies! Please click here and order it if you do not have it as it always is a lifesaver especially in making clean and simple cards!

- Trying to keep the masculine feel I used the hexagon punch and paired it up with the Flash Back Designer Series Paper. I adore this paper as it coordinates with Very Vanilla, many times our DSP go with the white and this is why I find this to be a refreshing paper choice!
- Just using one hexagon POPPED up I think did the trick and the trio of stars was the finale that was needed! This is another MUST HAVE…the itty bitty accents punch pack deliver a BIG punch – another great filler!

- I think just about every card I have done this week has had a double whammy envelope! I line the outer flap and then I carried the theme of the card to the front to make the mailman smile and again, I find that if I use the “green glue” the stars will stay put for mailing – just ask the postmaster to “hand stamp it” so it will not go through the machine!
Trust me, when they see me come into the Post Office, they know that I will stand in line to have my cards hand stamped!

That’s it folks! Can’t you just imagine the variety of colors that you can use to make this card different! If you wanted a feminine feel…use the flower punch and a fun and bright washi tape! JUST HAVE FUN!
FUN is what Hannah and I have been having. It will be sad to go home but I would not have traded this week with being with her for anything!
Life throws things to us for a reason….I truly believe this… she is getting ready to go abroad for her junior year in college next Saturday and will not be home until December!
As a family we talked about Murphy and knowing that his time would be limited, we asked her if what her wishes were…I do believe that animals know who is the stronger link and it is definitely John not me…aa hard as it is – we will be ok – as we will live on such precious memories!
I hope that you have enjoyed this masculine card and will keep it in your “memory bank” – it’s a keeper layout!
Thanks for popping in today and you know what tomorrow is…Make it Mine Monday!!! Woot-Woot – it is a super easy yet fun sketch that I know you will create some GREAT projects!
Until tomorrow…whew…I am sooo glad that I was prepared thru Wednesday for you! Hannah gave me some GREAT tips last week getting prepared for this week!

by Susan Itell | Aug 4, 2014 | Birthday, Make it MINE Monday |

Woot-woot….it's Monday and I love Monday as it brings me "joy" that many of you like and enjoy participating "with yourself" in challenging yourself with these challenges!
You know me by now…I try to make cards for a purpose and this week I have several birthdays…this card today is for on of the "Iguana's"….(that is a group of gals that went on a GREAT trip and we names ourselves this)…and I know that she will love it – especially with a bunch of cupcakes! This is her last year before the big 50!

Here is the challenge and I was scratching my head trying to figure this out! This is one that looks a bunch better in person than the photos show! I think that this is a super fun stamp set and I love the name – Peace, Love & Cupcakes! I have used these stamps "singly" on cards but not all together but I think it is cute!
I wanted to try to limit myself to using only 2 colors (I don't know why but I thought it would be fun) and the colors today I used were Blushing Bride and Lost Lagoon. Let's get going!

- The white squares are a 2" square and then the Lost lagoon are just 1/8" larger! You know me on this one and I know many of you take a deep sigh and say no-way….but out came the Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement…it is not only a life saver for me – but a friend!
- A quick POP UP with Stampin Dimensionals gave interest to a somewhat "plain" card.

- I did use the image that was in the sketch – I tried to use a flower but it just did not work! So…why not – we have a Star Framelits and why not?!?! I thought a simple stitch with the white gel pen was the perfect touch.
- We have the BEST Bakers Twine – I took a piece and "tripled" it up and made a simple bow and using a simple glue dot was all that was needed!

- Not much left but the envelope! I did stamp the "Happy Birthday" sentiment across the front of the envelope and the outside of the envelope was jazzed up with the In Color Designer Series Paper Stack!

Well…can you give this sketch a try? I would LOVE to see what you come up with as I was "scratching my head" but I think it worked out just fine! This is for my dear friend Sabina!
She will smile and then laugh when she sees it as she loves "peace signs" and this is right up her alley! I have 4 Birthdays this week! I feel bad sharing with you so many but then I thought – we all have Birthday so why not!!!

I can't wait to see what you come up with …..and I can't wait for my pre-order to come today!!!! That deserves a HUGE Woot-Woot!
I will be getting my catalogs and I will be mailing them out to my customers on Tuesday! Get ready to get a cup of coffee…by the end of the week and you will be oober excited! If you are not currently working with a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator…I would love to work with you…..
Please email me and I will be glad to send you a catalog….have a fabulous Monday and until tomorrow!

by Susan Itell | Aug 3, 2014 | Birthday, Congratulations, Super Easy |

I have shared this card before on my blog eons ago but it is one card that I get more emails about and I thought it was very appropriate as I needed to send a card to (4) specials kids that just did wonderful in the Jr. Club Championship at our Club! I just love to see kids enjoy a sport and the smiles on their faces with a medal…PRICELESS!
Please click here to see the 1st time I posted it and when I looked at it I laughed…you can see that it is before we had the envelope liner framelit and you can see that it is the old designer series paper!
If you remember yesterday I shared with you that I could not find my Oval Punch…but have no fear the smallest oval framelit worked like a charm! This is such a great card to have on hand (well…if you have golfers in your life) and make a bunch up and do not put a sentiment on it…then when you need a card – PRESTO!

Today I am sharing you (2) different sentiments and I think they both work GREAT! The "enjoy the fuss" is from the Big News Stamp Set and the "Happy Birthday" is from one of my favorites…Sassy Salutations…(I love the font!)….remember what I said yesterday about sentiments!
This card is a perfect example of this…
let the paper do the magic and the sentiment will fit in!
The base of the card is my old faithful Note Card (5" X 3 1/2") and I know…I know I have shared this with you over and over again but it is soooooo well worth repeating – you can get 20 Note Card and Envelopes for just $5.95 and remember, they now come in Crumb Cake as well!
Another thing that I wanted to share…you can see that I used the Garden Green Paper from the Regals Designer Series and from one sheet of paper, I was able to make 9 cards! I know that many of you purchased the 1/4 sheets of DSP from me when I had a paper share…you can line the backs of 3 envelopes from a 1/4 sheet.

One thing that I also love about this card is that you can really use up scraps that you have! I do not know about you…but I always seem to have pieces of white paper and I love to use scraps up! Remember, USE THE INSIDES OF THE PAPER….I cut many hearts out of the red!

Not only is the a fun and fresh card…it is super simple yet clean and crisp! When you go to put the "flag" on…let the center lift up a bit. This gives it a bit of movement.

I hope that this post made you smile! It is a SUPER SIMPLE card to make and it is perfect for avid golfers! This is one of those "keepers" to keep up your sleeve. I am excited for this upcoming week and to kick off the week is the Monday personal challege I send your way!
I hope that you will pop back tomorrow…I hope that you reach out of your comfort zone and give a sketch a try! I am so proud of many of you that are loving these Monday fun sketches!
Make it a great day and until tomorrow!

This fun post today is for my dear little (well he's not so little anymore) godson who LOVES baseball….heck – he likes all sports and is always involved in them but this year he "graduated" to the Pony League and his team from little old Hagerstown, MD made it to the World Series and they traveled all the way to California!
Talk about the Field of Dreams! He was sooooo excited as he should have been and they did fantantic and ending up 4th. Can you imagine how this "gang of boys" felt with this incredible honor – a memory that they will have a lifetime!

I am sure when they arrive back to Maryland tonight they are going to be excited…but they have to be exhausting! I honestly could not keep track of all of the games they played. I bet they will sleep for days!
One thing that he will love when he walks into his home is BIG FAT YUMMY CUPCAKES and this card from John and I!

The timing on this punch being on sale this week is perfect! You have heard me blog before that this one is on my "A list" as it is one that I "go to" often! Click here to see the goodies on sale this week.
Also this week…I shared with you that I was going to S T R E T C H myself and try to use colors that I do not do often…today it is Smoky Slate. I really do not know why as it is a fabulous neutral and it looks great with brights as strawberry slush, tempting turquoise!

This is a super fast card to pull together but it still has a great WOW factor! The overall size of the card is a 5" square and then the real red is 4 3/4" and then the white is 4 1/4" and then I ran it through the Big Shot with the Large Polka Dot Embossing Folder (love this gem)
The white circle was from the #6 framelit and then the neutral designer series paper in the polka dots was with the #7 framelit. I decided to heat emboss the "frosting" on the cupcake to give it texture and shine! When I put this piece on the card I felt like it still needed something else!

That something was a thin sliver of real red paper using the paper trimmer (love that tool) and then a simple piece of a scrap ribbon and a quick "loop" did the trick! A super quick stitch around the edge was th finale that was needed!
No envelope today as I am putting this card on their kitchen island with a big plate of cupcakes and he loves drinking milk out of those little milk containers you can get at 7-11…and I know there will be a smile on his face!

Remember that you only have until tomorrow to take advantage of the buy 3 get 1 free of DSP! Click here to see the offerings…but….I will say – you will be happy with the great Big Shot Promotion that Stampin' Up! is offering in August.
I know that this is an expensive tool but it is a tool of necessity for what we do in card making! It is one of those one time investment that will be guaranteed for lifetime!
Have a great day and go make someone smile…I know that Mark will be when he gets home…until tomorrow!
p.s. – a quick tip! Remember to save your paper when you can! I am famous for using punches to maximize my paper….why not??? It's going to be covered up and no one else will know but you and I!
