Hello…HELLO….
HELLO!!!
It feels GREAT to be back home in Maryland but YIKES….it SNOWED here today! I returned home from Florida yesterday and I am doing my best to get back into the swing of things! Yesterday…..85 degrees and sunny….today snow!!!
I have SOOOOOO much to tell you all what I have been up to but until there is time to get to that in a future post…Today I want to share with you a super sweet card that I made. I am using the limited edition stamp set/ thinlits that are available just to the end of the month…..(yikes – that is in just 2 short weeks!!!)
There are (2) stamps sets that are limited editions and there is (1) thinlit to match BOTH of the stamps sets! WOOT-WOOT.…love that when that happens! It is called the Snowflake Showcase but you can see…there are NO SNOWFLAKES on this card today!
Click here to view the PDF…and then below you will see the (1) stamp set being offered in this limited edition fun…it is called Happiness Surrounds and YEP, it is a happy one as I just adore the fun and oh so useful sentiments and the price point….$17.00 – time for a HAPPY DANCE!!
Stampin’ Up! did a great job on these offerings as it is a WINNER-WINNER Chicken Dinner that the thinlits will work for both of the stamp sets! The next time I post I am going to inspire you with the OTHER Stamp Set, Snow is Glistening and I think that you will love that as well…super clean, super fresh and super classic!
The inspiration for the design of this card came from the images that were on the above PDF from Stampin’ Up! I use the samples that the design artist come up with a bunch…I figure – WHY NOT? I was just itchin’ to see if I was able to stamp the repetitive image below the fun gingham!
Well…I DID IT and I WAS SMILING and guess what – it was super easy as I used the Stamparatus! Using a Stamp Positioning tool like this makes alignment a breeze and with the Stamparatus…even easier as I used the “hinge stamping” and it was as easy as close the door…..stamp – pick up the plate and move it down…stamp –PRESTO, perfect alignment every time with perfect ink coverage!
Did you think that I used Lemon Lime Twist for this tone on tone look?
Well NOPE….I did not, I used Versamark. If you follow my blog regularly you know that this is something that I like to do. I think that there are many times that the Versamark does the trick even better than the match color. Personally, I think that it is a softer look and I get asked this all of the time when I do this…..it does not smear – I agree, it seems like it would but truly it doesn’t!
The card is rather self explanatory as you can see that I did the same on the Balmy Blue flower, stamping with Versamarks and then cutting out the images with the coordinating thinlits. Layering elements like I have done below just is a “smile maker” as you can clearly see that the choice of colors that you could use are just endless!
That is another PLUS to us CARD-MAKERS….we can have any color our heart desires and in our IMAGINARY WORLD….when we create – there are no rules! I personally love this trio of a color combination – Lemon Lime Twist, Balmy Blue and Blueberry Bushel. Fun, fresh and clean!
Below you will see the image of BOTH of the stamp sets being offered and the thinlits. You will quickly see that they work for both stamps. At first I was not going to purchase this but then I caved….I asked some enabling friends and looked at many samples from others…and YEP – I hit that button and took it with me to Orlando.
It is a beauty but remember, it is JUST AVAILABLE thru November 30th! I can’t wait for you to see the next card that I made with this offering….the snowflakes are just to die for and we all know….snowflakes are another smile maker….(as long as they are on paper and not in real life like we have today)
With me just coming back from the 30th Anniversary of Stampin’ Up! I am super excited to get the engine started with some of the offerings that will be available in January. I know, I know….we have PLENTY of time for that date to get here but I just could not resist using the upcoming NEW 6″ X 6″ Paper….called Gingham Gala…..I ADORE IT and I know that it will be a HUGE HIT for Stampin’ Up!
I just love ginghams and this pack just screams Spring with the color choices! One side is a larger check, the other a smaller scale. Both are great and they also would be great to use together….why not – never be afraid to mix up the sizes of prints? You better bet that they will be in my Product Share….
Well…there you go…..a quick post to make you smile and I cannot wait to inspire you with more fun projects using this Limited Edition Set! I hoep to be in the swing of things as I was fearful that I would have forgotten how to blog!!!! To top it off…I went to go edit my pictures and the editing software that I use has CHANGED….and this non-tech Mom doesn’t do well with change…..oh well, off to watch you tube views on it!
HA-HA….seriously, this is the ABSOLUTE LONGEST I have even been without blogging….on my way to the airport I discovered that I left my Laptop and iPad at home….YIKES – when I met my downline at the airport she looked at me, laughed and said – OH WELL…..not the end of the world….
It was a great time away and I am excited for the new upcoming catalog and its offereings and then lets quickly chat about the SAB (Sale A Bration) offerings……do you remember 2 or 3 years ago how much fun we had with the crazy chickens????WEll, get ready for Mr. Frog….there is a SAB offering that is not only a total HOOT…..it is a must have in all of our homes as he is so darn tootin’ cute!
Stay warm…do some exercises as Turkey Day is in a week! Calgon, take me away….the time is FLYING! (but who doesn’t love to gobble-gobble)

by Susan Itell | Jul 11, 2018 | Congratulations, PALS Blog Hops, Uncategorized |
Welcome to the Pals July, 2018 Blog Hop. We’re having a “Pattern Party”. This month our creations will feature our favorite Designer Series Papers and coordinating embellishments from the new annual catalog from Stampin’ Up!
You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the the full line-up below to help you move, or “hop” along from Pal to Pal!
Let’s get started by saying “hippity-hoppity-humpday “ to you and I thank you for HOPPING on and see the fun DSP Pattern Party inspiration that i have for you today! I must say…there are many DSP’s from this new Annual Catalog that make me smile….so I thought that I would pick something that might not be as that “instant wow” to you when you have picked up the catalog to see the new offerings!
The DSP that I am using today come from the Best Routes and the Animal Expedition collection! Being that I am a super clean and simple kinda gal…I love prints like these that are “classics” as I find that they will work for many projects that I might make! The other great thing about both of these is…they are both part of Stampin’ Ups! buy 3 get 1 free offering during the month of July!….
You’ve gotta a lot of hopping to do today so let’s get into the beauty and simplicity of todays card! This is a card that I like to refer to as a “formula” What is a formula? Well…..they are your friends as a formula is a “recipe if you will” that you can pull out time and time again…make some changes with the DSP and/or stamp….and POOF – you have whipped up another masterpiece!
Today’s formula fun is using the Friendly Expressions Stamp as well as the framelits as my accent/embellishment from the Stained Glass Thinlit Dies. This stamp set it just the cat’s meow as the fonts and sentiments hit a grand slam…(a true MUST HAVE for your stamp collection!!!)
I am a stamper that loves to share tips and tricks along the way….always! I firmly believe that this is how we learn. There are so many different ways that we can make it easier for us when we sit and create.
I am all about ease and I know that many of you do not use this secret weapon….the Multi Purpose Adhesive Sheets! Another must have product for your stash!
This is a $10.00 investment that you will be thankful that you have! It is a super thin adhesive that you put on your cardstock BEFORE you run your die through “Mr. Big” and then PRESTO….you have adhesive on your detailed die…that all you have to do is remove the backing and once again, POOF – you are a happy stamper!
The biggest misconception I think many stampers have is the fact that they feel like they need to use the whole darn sheet at one time! NO…NOT AT ALL! I simply take a piece of scrap the size I need…peel the top part of the adhesive sheet back and then place the scrap of cardstock on the adhesive!
Next, I like to re-cover the piece of scrap with the sheet that says Sizzix (see below picture) and then trim away just what I need. This step helps to not get your scissors icky!
The other tip is, use the paper piecing tool after you run the shape through (especially with such a delicate die like this) to grab the release paper and again, POOF – you have adhesive ready for you to give it a good and firm press….with no mess!
I know that many of us find it hard to create a masculine card…but this is a card that I am sending to my middle peep James as he just started a new job! We all know what it is like to get something handmade…something unexpected….and hopefully from “dear old Mom” will even make it that much more special to him!
Because this is going to a “guy” I thought that this BEAUTIFUL die would be the perfect accent for some dimension and interest to this clean and simple card. I snapped a quick picture for you to see that it is as easy as this….just eyeball where you want the “peeking out” to be under the sentiment!
How about the FORMULA for you! Yep, this is another tip that I would do today. I would find some “me time” and recreate this card using whatever you have and then write the formula down on your sample. For me, this IS the easiest way to not only get the feel of creating it…but now you have your very own recipe that you can file away just like you do in your kitchen!
Feel free to email me if you have any questions. To me, you simply can’t go wrong with keeping things super clean and simple. They beauty of this type of a design is…IF you choose to fru-fru it up with either some ribbon, sparkle etc…you can easily do that….but if you want it to go out the door like this….you can do that with pride as well!
- Card Base is a regular A-2 (5 1/2″ X 4 1/4″) in Thick Whisper White. (I always use the thick weight for my bases) and then I covered the front with a piece of Basic Gray. I love a card that has “substance and weight to it”
- The white matting rectangle is 5 1/4″ X 4″
- The Strips of DSP are 1 1/4″ X 3 7/8″. To make the adhering these easier and straight…I use green glue to place them as I have time to wiggle them around if needed…..but please, do not stress over being perfectly straight…..just do your best – after all, it is – JUST A CARD!
- The sentiment piece is 4″ X 1/2″ and then the mat is a wee bit bigger at 4 1/8″ X 5/8″
- In the last picture you will see that I popped this piece up as I think we all agree upon this….simple dimension makes a huge difference to our projects!
- The envelope…..I do love my envelopes! I made my very own with the help of the Envelope Punch Board! Not only is it super easy, it is a “statement piece” as there just is something special when you see an envelope that is not just white!
There you go my friends – another fun card that will be the win-win for not only you….but for the recipient as well! That is exactly how I like to make my projects….duplicatable and classic. Have FUN today on the hop and please feel free to leave me a comment on how you like this formula card!
Now it’s time to use the Blog Hop Line-up below to see what the rest of my Pals have chosen as their “favorite”. Don’t forget to show us some love by commenting on our creations.
Mark your calendars for August 8, 2018 when we Cut it Out! Participants will showcase projects featuring “cuts” from punches, Framelits, Edgelits, or Thinlits. . Don’t miss the fun.

This is one thing that is just the BEST in what we do…being inspired by others!
Below is the line up of products that I used for todays card! I am super excited to send it and remember, this “formula” for a card is a true blue keeper…just change the DSP used….perhaps the color and/or sentiments and you are good to go! Have a great day and thanks for “hopping in”!

by Susan Itell | Jan 10, 2018 | Birthday, Congratulations, Sale-A-Bration |
Happy Hump Day! Did the subject line peek your curiosity? Well, YEP….that is right – no stamping today…just die cuts and special ones at that as these 3 thinlits are free with a qualifying order of $100+ during Sale-A-Bration!
There is a stamp set, Amazing You that also coordinates with it but today I am focusing on just these 3 words….it is called the Celebrate You Thinlits I think that it makes a fun yet kinda dramatic look and feel, making it super special. I know that if I were to receive it, I would beam and also oooo & ahhhh over it!
Below is a super short (under 2 minutes) video that the home office did about these 2 products…there are some amazing samples in there that will perk you up and then you will see where my inspiration came from, YEP….I cased a card!
Every Tuesday Stampin’ Up! shares weekly updates with Demos and then they also help us by sharing with us a weekly training piece to help us, inspire us and teach us focusing on a specific product. When I clicked on the email yesterday and saw the picture below I know that I needed to case it as it is truly a fantastic card!
First I adore a tone on tone and truth be told I like it best in White or Vanilla but I thought that might be hard to see in pictures so I went with my favorite Stampin’ Up! color…..lemon lime twist….(I can hear Chris R. right now making all sorts of faces as she does not care for this color…tee-hee-hee 😀 ) but me, I LOVE IT as it is big and bold and looks fantastic with black and white!
Now here is my take on this fun card! You can totally see the CASE that I was going for….the repetition of the word celebrate! I added some simple changes to share with you how you can see something that you love….tweak it a wee bit and make it work for you!
I do not know about you but…I have GOBS of Washi Tape….I buy it….but then I do not use it. I placed a thin piece of Washi Tape down the left side and POP….and think that it makes a huge difference as it pulls together the black sentiments plus the thin black thread that I placed behind the banner….do you agree?
You know me….I like to find ways to make this whole process we do fun and as simple as possible and truth be told…there are products out there that make it easier. Below you will see the Elmer’s Adhesive Spray. I have blogged about this before and even though I do not use it often, when I need to – it sure is great to have on hand.
You can purchase it from a craft store…I think I picked it up at Jo Ann Fabrics and there are a ton of different brands – I just went with good old Elmer’s as I figured – WHY NOT….that brand worked for use when we were kids at school…I just figured this was the “grown up version”
When I use spray adhesive I make sure that I spray it in a deep box so there is no chance of spray residue getting on my work area and I also like to use little piece of wax paper after each spray. I have found this to be super helpful in not having adhesive stick to the next thing you are going to spray (I hope that this makes sense) I then just throw the wax paper away and I can reuse the box the next time I need it.
This font of “amazing” is that indeed….just amazing! I do like the idea of having the 2 words in the same color family but also at the same time making them a bit different – this black and white dot is from the Petal Passion DSP collection. This offering of paper is over the top! I admit…I am going to be sad when it leaves at the end of this catalog but in the meantime….get used to seeing it as it is a keeper, each and every print!
I realize that there is just (2) colors, black and white to this collection but the contrast when you POP it with a color like I did today is just classic. You can also use your blends to color right on the paper to add a super dramatic look….you will see a post on that look in the future!
Check out in the picture below how I keep my Washi Tape. I use a simple ring clip – I only do this with current Washi Tape collections so I can easily spot the current ones. The others that are retired I keep in a super cute basket in my work area….
You can see from the below picture that I simply used (3) additional items that most of us have….and in using these in a minimal way made an impact on the card! My little dots around the banner and also on my envelope flap just added that simple yet detailed touch that would certainly make the recipient smile….remember, it’s the little things that people remember!
One last peek of this fun card. It really did not take a bunch of time to do. The longest part was cutting out the word 5 times and the spray adhesive made it a cinch to adhere!
I first thought that I needed to do a bunch of measuring to make sure that everything was just right in the spacing and then I thought to myself…KEEP IT SIMPLE….and that is what I did!
I started with the center celebrate words (that was mainly under the banner) and then just added above and below….it’s not perfect but IT WORKS! After making one of these…I thought – WOW…..I need to do this with other sentiment words that I have!
Enjoy your day….and we are having what feels like a heat wave on the East Coast…..now it is not that warm out BUT it is a heck of a lot better than the sheer bitterness we have been having….I am even thinking about taking a nice long walk!
Below you will see the items that I used to make this fun card and I know that there are many of you that have been “eyeing up” this framelit offering. I agree with Donna from the video….Sale-A-Bration IS the sweetest time of the year for us crazed Stampin’ Up! lovers!

Good Morning! I loved your comments yesterday and YEP…I am in my glory – there is nothing like crisp and early mornings at the barn and taking in fresh air….playing with any dog that will talk to you….seeing beautiful horses and still being able to catch a special time with Aunt Jean (89 yrs. old) & my Dad is here (85 yrs. old)
We have been meeting for lunch ……but let me tell you – these 85+ year olds…they like L O N G lunches – yesterday was almost 3 hours!!!! It is always a fun time to be together but I was itchin’ to get back to the barn!
Please make sure that you read to the end of the post because I have another super special card that will touch your heartstrings.
One question I am asked a bunch, is it ok to CASE a card….here you go – YEP….it is.To me, this is a natural way to get creative ideas rockin’ and rollin’ when we are stumped and the way I also look at it – WHAT A HUGE COMPLIMENT!
Today’s card is a CASE from the below swap card from Carol in Ohio….do you remember I said, keep your eye on this card. The minute I saw it, I know that the layout was a keeper and I hope that I have shown you today that you can make it work for you.
You can see that the card is in the “same church….just a different pew” – I just loved it when I opened up the envelope and I liked it so much, I used it as my Shoebox Swap at World Card Making Day in Atlanta and it was a big hit! I encourage you to remember this layout and use it for a card….it is a keeper and by changing up the sentiment…you have a NEW card!
The sentiment was stamped on a piece of scrap paper and then cut out with an oval framelit. The “Susan dots” added that little extra touch to make it POP. I know that many of you are skeptical of doing this, here is a tip – JUST DO IT….do not over think it as you will drive yourself NUTS!
To me, something so simple, just works! Make it easy on yourself! 😀
Let’s have a chat about the picture below. Did you notice that I scored the leaves? I decided not to stamp them even though there is a stamp that matches is…I just wanted some fun texture for you!
Did you notice that I have added (2) different threads? I know that they are complete opposites but they work! I admit, this copper thread can be a frustrating thing to work with but I think that I have a tip for you!
I wrap it around my hand several times and then worked it off of my hand (keeping it in a circle) and then slapped it on the back of the leaves that already had fast fuse on it.
Trust me…if you stress about it, your will get frustrated and pull it off…..just stick it down and then play around to move the threads to give it a bit more movement. The linen thread – good old linen thread – always does the trick!
Now how about this envelope? Pretty, right!!!??? This DSP is just gorgeous, it has the copper thru it making it a fun and special paper!
I have no idea why this picture looks funny but I did use Very Vanilla for both the card and the envelope. (to me it looks wonky, I wish that you could see how I “scout out” places to take pictures!
Here is you 411 – Pin picture. I added the basic dimensions for you. I hope that this is a help and makes you smile! Now to a real smile maker…..next picture!
Now to something that I think will bring a big smile to your face. Well, if you follow my blog than you know that my hubby’s name is John and he is wonderful….simply wonderful and I can honestly say ~ it was the BEST blind date I was ever on!
I have been gone for what seems like forever, actually since October 26th and even though I have been having a great time filled with lots of adventures, I miss home, I miss John, I miss the dogs, I miss the other horses, I miss my bed.
Look what arrived yesterday…is this the sweetest or what! John made this card for me and when I called him he said….your craft room is lonely and I went upstairs and played!
I asked him if this was the 1st try….he said yes – I honestly am not sure of the stamps but I was all smiles! He said, hurry home….my stamps were getting dusty and my room is sad!
He is my biggest fan and he is so happy that I am here with Hannah right now…..heading home on Sunday and then WOW – back to reality and back to getting LOTS back in place! I am looking forward to putting my suitcase away!
Well I hope that you enjoyed today’s post….I love this card (BOTH of them) and I hope that you can go make someones day!
Until tomorrow…..SIMPLE SATURDAY….woot-woot!

Do you remember that earlier in the week I commented that I was going to be so confused as to what day it was….well ~ all week I have felt like I am behind a day but it is the weekend so that in itself deserves a HUGE WOOT-WOOT!
I am super happy to say that all of the 2nd round of Product Shares are OUT THE DOOR and I tackled a HUGE MOUNTAIN this week with getting videos for my SOTM kits to upload (urgggg…computer issues)….I accomplished that….I feel great! 🙂
Speaking of great – how about this card!?!? I think that I can already see a smile on your face as how can you not be beaming when you see a FUN yellow (Daffodil Delight) and a CLASSIC navy (Night of Navy) paired together with white.
I am just goo-goo over this Bundle, and YES I said the BUNDLE as this is one that you would want to purchase in this as a bundle. Ok….ok – I am sure that some of you think that I always purchase a bundle….
Truth be told, I usually do but there are times that I think that I would not use both…BUT – this one….DO IT ~ you will not regret it!
I have shared with you many times that I feel like there is a HUGE “S” on my forehead as I am a diehard for sentiment framelits! They are simply the best and they always bring a project together!
I have had fun with this embossing folder and again….truth be told, it was out on my work area so I thought, WHY NOT?
The pairing of the yellow with the Floral Boutique DSP is stunning! Here is a tip for you….you can cut (2) of the embossing flowers out at the same time. YEP, it really is not that hard ~ just put (2) pieces of paper together when you run it through the big shot and then they match up perfectly for you to cut!
The DSP is 4” X 3” and then I cut it into 1” strips and then mounted it with green glue onto the navy that is 3 1/8” X4 ¼” – it really is easy to do and makes a great statement. The other element that makes this such a classic card is the scoring of all four sides, 1/4″ in!
For the “congrat’s” sentiment…guess what I did???? I was a “RESOURCEFUL SUSAN” and used the white cardboard that is in the packaging for the DSP to cut out several of the “congrats” and adhered them together before adding the Daffodil one…I wanted that extra lift!
Just think, you could make this card with a different sentiment, you could easily eliminate the sentiment and the end result = a FUN card!
Let’s move on to the super great Bonus Days…there are rolling and in full swing ~ you will be able to get $$$$ to spend in August and also August will bring you an exclusive bundle, if you choose to use your “bonus earnings” …we love choices. You can CLICK HERE to see the post I did showcasing the opportunities!
Speaking of FUN…..how about the Bonus Days! We are officially in full swing with this promotion but I think my personal promotion is equally as FUN.

by Susan Itell | Aug 3, 2015 | Congratulations, Stamp-a-ma-jig |
I know that you are going to be inundated with "sneek peaks" from the new Holiday Catalog (and trust me, it is great) but I feel like we still need to show the love to the Annual Catalog! This stamp set is one of my "go to's" and I am thrilled that Stampin' Up! carried it over.
If you do not have this set,Fabulous Four…you need to – trust me on this one as each of these sentiments are great and you can even "mask off" part of it of you wish. I use masking tape and make sure that it wraps around the mounting block so it doesn't wiggle and then peel it off after you ink it up!
For todays card…you can see that I used 2 different colors .
Many people do different methods to do this but what I like to do is first stamp it on the stamp-a-ma-jig and then clean my stamp and then place masking tape over the area that I do not want to show…ink it all up and then peel off the masking tape and again, using the stamp-a-ma-jig…STAMP! Then I repeat this the opposite way for the other color.
Using embossing folder always adds a great interest to your projects…try to mix it up and only use a part of a card. I think that we get so programed to use it for the whole front of a card, but you can see that this just breaks it up!
Also, I checked last night and the Texture Boutique Machine is still in the clearance Rack at 50% off….this is great for embossing only – there are times that it is really nice not to drag out the Big Shot as it is so heavy – this little dream machine is so little and light!
Playing with another print from the Bohemian Designer Series Paper Pack on the same card is fun! Because everything matches so well…it's like "Peanut Butter and Jelly" – it works!
I just cannot get enough of the Triple Banner Punch…it is the dream tool and I am amazed at how often I reach for it….when in doubt – pull it out! That's my motto for our punches….if I can use them – they are MINE!
Clean, crisp, colorful and fun…this would be a great card for many occasions – just switch up the sentiment ad make someone smile! These colors are just fabulous and oh so rich!
I know that many of you are not fans of Delightful Dijon….but I am here to tell you…I bet I will change your mind. It is fabulous with many colors and I can clearly see in the Fall that it will be super-de-duper!
The envelope liner framelit was the "icing on the cake" – I can honestly say, I never send a card out with out either a liner like this or something fun on the outside of the envelope!
Remember….we have talked about "the little things in life" – to me, this is one of them…it just is "complete" in my opinion!
Below is a picture that will make your lower lip go down. Dear, precious Norman had to have surgery on his ear and this "cone" is really stressing him out! He stayed in my work area all day with me…I told him it would pass!
Even though Norman doesn't look like he is having a good day…let's all have a great day and a super week! Today I get to go to the Surgeons in Baltimore for my ankle – I am hoping that I can sign up for dance lessons….ok – that is a bit much, but I hope that I can start therapy and get going forward!
Until tomorrow…..
