by Susan Itell | Oct 27, 2014 | Birthday, Make it MINE Monday, Super Easy |

Wow…it is the last week of the month…darn is that calendar rolling and rolling! Today I am mailing out all of my "Treats"… no tricks to my "young friends" in college….everyone loves a care-package and even if they are older, my "peeps" love some love from home! I will share with you my goodies that I sent in another post!
Monday is the personal challenge that many of you look soooo forward to and here you go! Below is a sketch and I hope that you have fun with it! If you would like to share with me your "take" on the sketch, please email me….I always love to see your work!

There is no envelope today as this cute and simple card is getting "hand delivered" to a special little guy that is turning 4 tomorrow with some soft and yummy Chocolate Chip Cookies and a little container of milk (he loves the cardboard milk cartons with a straw)….he is so darn tootin' cute and he is going to be a Cowboy for Halloween so I thought that this would be perfect!

This was a fun card to make…I just simply pulled the stamp set out and let my mind wander! The burlap ribbon was left out on my work space so I thought….why not and it worked! Because of the thickness of the ribbon, I did put stampin dimensionals just on the right side of the Soft Suede piece to make it even!

Don't we have the best punches….the circle punches made this so easy to pull together! Remember my tip, try to build up your punch inventory as you will be so happy with the time they save you…simply make a wish list and add a punch to every order and in no time, you will be a "Stampin' Up! Punch Princess"

Because this card was so simple and quick (just like I like it)…I added dashes, dots and dashes and dots! I just mixed it all up and I liked the end result!

The stamp set is called "Yee-haw" and I just love it! I know that it is a bit different but you can really make it work for many card and gift ideas! If you missed a post before when I used this set, please click here – it is also a fun and differnt way to use the stamp set and other Stampin' Up! products!

How about giving this sketch a try! I truly do believe that trying to work with a sketch will help you develop a style that "is YOU" and then making cards will become easier and easier!
Please do not forget the the DSP free paper pack each month for the next 6 months will end on Friday! Please email me and I would love to chat with you to help you see that taking a test drive with Stampin' up! and being a part of my team would not only be super fun…but it will be rewarding for you!
Thanks for sharing a part of your day with me! Have a fabulous day and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow! Please share my blog with your family and friends….I love being a part of Stampin' Up! and I adore helping you reach your goals!
It's a great journey and I would love for you to be on it with me!

by Susan Itell | Oct 15, 2014 | Birthday, Masculine, Super Easy |

Today is a SUPER special day to me as it is James’ (my middle peeps) 24th Birthday! Wow – where do the years go by but I have been looking at pictures and going down memory lane…( I just love that lane!)
John and I are super proud of him and he is doing a great job figuring out the BIG “real world” out there. He is truly a great catch….loves to cook, build, work outside…just about anything except keep his room clean!

Making a masculine card seems to be a challenge of many of us….(I know it’s a head scratcher for me) but when I looked at this sentiment – BAM…..this is James all the way!
Ever since he has been a little guy…I always knew that he had a kind, special and patient heart! I always would say to him…
"If there were more James’ in the world…our world would be a better place”

The sentiment is from the Stamp Set called Starburst Sayings and I adore the fact that there is a matching framelit that makes it a cinch to have a perfect cut! A simple POP from the 2” circle punch just gave this sentiment the effect that I was going for! (I love our punches)

I have said this so many times before but the Designer Series Paper, Flashback is A+ in my book as it coordinates with Very Vanilla. To me, this lends itself to a masculine card!
As much as I adore square cards, I have not been doing as many lately. Today’s card is a 4 ½” square card and then the other sizes are a 4 1/8” square and then a 4” square.

Do you see that fun sentiment of “Happy Birthday”? I bet you are wondering where it came from…it is from a “sleeper” stamp set called, Says it All. This is a good example of a “filler” stamp set…what I mean is, when you need something but don’t want it to be over powering…this is one for you!

Have you started to make a wish list for the upcoming holidays? I am the BEST ELF you could ever have…just tell your hubbie, you Mom/Dad…friend – my name and email me and I will make you have THE BIGGEST smile!

If you do not have the Envelope Punch Board…than that needs to be on the top of your list! Making a square card is a cinch and making your own liner with it as well makes this “gadget” a simply must have…
Thanks a bunch for popping in and if anyone else is lucky enough to have a Birthday today…
thank you are super lucky as special people are born on October 15th!
In honor of James’ birthday – anyone that places an order with me today will receive a present from me…a package of Stampin’ Dimensionals!
Click here to place an order…remember to check out the weekly deals, the clearance rack and this NEW photopolymer Stamp Set! Woot-Woot….it’s available now!

Until tomorrow!

Simple Saturday is today and this card is as simple as it gets and WOW – think about all of the wonderful Designer Series Paper we have! Today I am using the Back to Black paper and this is a clean, crisp and classic collection!

The base of the card is in Strawberry Slush at a vertical fold. I know that I use this paper a bunch but I will say…it just works! So cheerful and fun! The whisper white base is ¼” smaller and then I layered a the designer series paper on top and this is 2 1/4” X 4”! EASY!

The Sentiment is from the Cycle Celebration Stamp Set…I love the font and I adore using up scraps! To make the banner end, I do it the easy way for me…cut it in the middle…then snip – snip to the center point.

The Black and White Bakers Twine was tied in a simple bow (these I can handle) and I attached it with a simple glue dot!

The envelope came together in a snap with just lining the "outside" of the flap and then with the help of the Stamp -a-ma-jig….a quick sentiment on the front was the icing on the cake!

Simple works…simple is FUN…go make a simple card and smile today!

Please email me if I can be of help and I do hope that you pop back tomorrow! I have a special card that I can say will make you smile…I adore the paper that I am using and I know that you will enjoy it too!
You can click here to my online store and shop from home! Have a "Special Saturday" and until tomorrow!
p.s. – I have had many of you ask me how Hannah is doing….she id GREAT! We have been able to Skype (isn't technology amazing)….below is a cute picture of her and others from her program.

Happy Saturday to all! Yesterday I posted a card for a friends Birthday. Tom is one special person to our family as not only is he Hannah's horse trainer….we are proud to call him our friend! He has kept Hannah challenged yet safe for many years!
He has a smile that never stops shining and he is truly one of the most positive individuals I know. He is truly one that thinks of the "sunny side" of life! He is soooooo funny as during the week he does not eat chocolate…Sunday is the day that he enjoys his favorite treats….Peanut M & M's!
Tomorrow the fabulous group of families that go to the barn are having a birthday party for him at the river! We alwasy have fun at the river and there are so many dogs that come…play…swim….just a great time all the way around! I know that Tom will love his card and goodies!

If you look at the pictures you will see that I made (8) of these pouches…why 8? Well….easy – there are 8 more Sunday's until Halloween and then I will restock him up with something else cute for his weekly treat!

Each pouch holds 4 packs of M&M's and you can see that I used just about all of the stamps in this super fun stamp set! Please click here to see yesterday post that I focused on the card. These adorable and practical pouches have an endless amount of uses. They are called the Mini Muslin Bags and are on page 200 in the catalog!

I love the soft, fun and natural look and feel of these bags! You can see that I added a piece of Baked Brown Sugar Bakers Twine and you can also see that I just simply stamped many of the images and the "free-hand" cut around the shape of the sentiment…no worries…just do it!

I must confess…I have never used these adorable clothespins and I am asking myself WHY!!!??? You know that I prefer simple over fussy and I always thought that they would be too distracting but I think they are what makes these adorable gifts!

So what do you think? Aren't they super cute? I am going to pile them in a basket and fru-fru it up a bit…a perfect gift! I find it so rewarding to make my own gifts…I say they are true gifts from the heart!

Have a wonderful day and please pop tomorrow as I have a SUPER SUNDAY offering for you! I am hopeful that you are going to love it and appreciate it as it is a gift of my heart to you….to be able to share my passion for simple and clean cardmaking with you!
I appreciate your time, you support and also your passion for cardmaking! I truly love what I do and I love to help and inspire you.
In closing, sad news…my dear friend Ted passed away. Although I know it is a blessing it is hard. I have fabulous memories of an incredible man.
Until tomorrow…..

by Susan Itell | Sep 5, 2014 | Birthday, Photopolymer Stamps |

Guilty as CHARGED! I must confess that when Stampin' Up! 1st came out with the Photopolymer Stamps…I was like a 3 year old having my Mom telling me to eat my vegetables! I was not a fan of them…but my opinion has changed!
I LOVE THEM!
Why….??? They are sooo darn tooting easy to use! Not only can you see through them when you stamp…they are super easy to clean…they stick like glue to you mounting blocks…and the best thing is that the image is "pin perfect"

This stamp set is from the NEW set called Yee-haw!!! (you just can't help but love the name)…and there are so many options that you can use this stamp set for…..a child….an adult….something just plain fun and whimsical!

As you know I love to be square…and today is no different, The card is a 4 1/2" square and the colors of the card is Soft Suede and the Ivory Naturals….now let me ask you – when was the last time you used Ivory Natural Paper….and next – do you even know about this paper!?!?

I love this paper as it has "flecks" throughout it to give it a warm and soft feel. This looks great with many neutral and warm color paper! I used the same color on the "horse shoes" to do a tone on tone effect! It also comes in Naturals White and that too is a keeper! Both of these papers also make incredible envelopes!

I used Crumb Cake to stamp the lasso and then "fussy cut" it out which really was super easy with the paper snips! I pieced the middle with the tip and then ZOOM….a quick snip all the way around!

I punched a hole in the upper right corner and then cut a narrow strip of the 1 1/4" burlap ribbon…and a quick and easy wow…the perfect touch! The stampin dimensionals were the perfect finishing touch! (love those stampin' vitamins)
CONFESSION: I was actually dreading fussy cutting this out but it really was a cinch and the effect of having the lasso over top of the ivory naturals paper is WORTH IT – love the look and using the green glue made it easy as well!

Because of the square envelope, the envelope punch board was in order and the liner was a a cinch – mimicking what I did on the card – I carried the theme to the back flap… but then the front….well, I just could not resist!
I do hope that you take the extra time to give your envelopes some extra love! Think about it this way…it is the very first thing that the recipient sees…it gives you an "instant excitement" as to what is next!
This card is for Hannah's trainers Birthday! He will love it but he will love what I post about more tomorrow as it will be "Part #2" of this post! Please pop back and you will see why!
Please feel free to shoot me an email or leave me a comment!
Enjoy your day and get ready for someting super fun that I know many of you will love on Sunday! A new "offering" I am doing that will make it SUPER EASY to have a great stack of cards…that YOU do !!!!
Until tomorrow!

by Susan Itell | Sep 1, 2014 | Birthday, Make it MINE Monday, Watercoloring |

Today is a special day for many reasons…it is my dear friend and godfather to our children; Brandons 51st Birthday…today makes a year to the date that John had his accident and he is amazing – doing all of the things he did before….and it is a Make it Mine Monday, a day for YOU to have fun playing with a sketch!
Please feel free to send me "your take" on todays sketch. I love to see them and I am just amazed at how amazing you all do…this is a fun, rather straight forward sketch!

I can remember that when this stamp set came out…I burst out laughing and I still love it today! I know that you all are seeing lots and lots of new goodies from the Holiday Catalog, I thought that I would throw in goodies from the Annual Catalog! This stamp set is called Giggle Greetings!

Today's post I am using the water-coloring technique using the Aqua Painters but today I filled them with alcohol…a tip that I learned from fellow PAL Ann Schach when reading her blog…she is one talented lady! The reason I did this is that alcohol dries much faster and the paper was very, very flat! I also liked the coverage!

I realize that some of you are a bit skeptical of using the aqua painters…but I say – try it…it is a very rewarding technique and the end result is always a smile on your face!

As far as tips go…I say start with just the "right amount" of "liquid" on the tip and squish together your ink pad to get a smear of ink on the top part to work with. If you start "lighter", you can always go back to darken it up! Make sure that you have a paper towel handy to dab and also clean the brush to use a new color!

I let the DSP of Flash Back dictate the color scheme of today's card! I often do this…let my paper be my guide! The Neutral Candy Dots were the perfect embellishment to follow the sketch!

"Stitching" the Smoky Slate piece I felt did the trick to break up the card and added dimensions. Please do not stress about doing this – just do it…no matter if you do not like it….trust me – the recipient will appreciate your work, time and true love in your card-making!
Thank you for popping in and this is such a special day to me…we all have so much to be thankful for and trust me, I try to tackle life without taking things for granted. John's recovery is amazing and it is hard to believe that it has been a year!
Please email me if you have any questions about today's card and I hope that this made you smile!
Until tomorrow!
p.s. – Guess what Brandon is getting for his Birthday…yep! A nice piece of GREAT cheese and a GREAT bottle of wine….!!!!
