Time to “Step Up” Mr. Snowman!

IMG_0691

Good Sunday morning to you! Here is the adorable snowman from the Snow Place Bundle and boy is he super cute today, (well I thought that he was super cute yesterday but today, he is POPPING right off from that black background.)

I bet I am using a product that many of you do not have….and it is a product that I admit that I do not use a bunch but boy….when I do – I LOVE it as there is always a great contrast that happens in an instant! It is the White Staz On ink.

You can see for yourself that they are both super fun and it all comes done to that TIME FACTOR! Darn, that gets us every time! (ha-ha…)

Using the White  Staz On to me, makes a big difference. It dries quickly and it does make a fun statement. Have you ever tried it! Remember, the color "white" makes a HUGE DIFFERENCE"

"White" is a key factor to me in making "clean and simple" cards…Usually I do it the opposite than I am doing today but here you can see how the "white ink" makes the pop on the dark paper ~ Mr. Snowman looks happy in the snow!

In the below pictures you will see how I added the FUN FRU-FRU to the card…remember, it is the simple and little things that make a difference!

Because I struggle with making a bow I always find it easier to just add a bow on top of the piece of ribbon, it looks great and the ease of using a glue dot to hold a bow tight works like a charm!

Both of these cards are cute and the best thing is that they are really easy to make. This would be a great card to "Mass Produce" – You know what I am going to say….break it down and take steps. If I did a bunch of these, I would…do a little at a time

  • Cut all of the paper and score the base
  • Use the white piece that is going to be covered up with the black to stamp the snowman and sentiment
  • Cut the ribbon and make the bows
  • Cut the envelope paper and make the envelopes (this paper is soooo affordable)

I find if I break a project down to steps I enjoy the journey much better! I think that we have all been there before and I think that you know what I am talking about, we have great intentions on making a project but then that time thing gets in our way, by breaking it down I think it makes the whole process more enjoyable.

Again, Envelope Punch Board to the rescue…just follow the measurements for a 4 1/2" card and you are good to go! This is a must have tool as you will be amazed at how many odd shaped cards you will make when you have this gem!

IMG_0698

This is a card that I would be super happy to send out, even if it requires extra postage since it is a square card! What do you think…Which one do you like?

Please feel free to leave a comment, we all love to hear everyones thoughts! I hope that you will come back tomorrow as I have super FAST…FUN Halloween treat for you to make that is super sweet and super easy = just like I like them ~ SIMPLE!

Simple Saturday!

IMG_0683

Happy Weekend…happy Simple Saturday! I am the very first to say that the thought of having a “real” snowman makes me shiver! I an not a “winter” person, I think snow is beautiful to look at (from inside of my house)

Today and tomorrows card is using the Snow Place Bundle and this is one that I would definitely get the bundle as there are so many framelits that make what we do – SOOOOO much easier! It is on page 33.

I know, I know….I am being square again and I just can’t help myself as I just love square cards and I know how I feel when I receive an odd size card so it does bring me joy to make them as I know the recipient will love it!

The overall size of this card is a 4 ½” square and then I made the envelope and liner were made with the envelope paper. WOW – this paper is so affordable, a dream to work with and I am doing the happy dance that it is in the Real Red (Holiday catalog, page # 26 , (20) 12 X 12 sheets for just $6.00

IMG_0690

Because “Mr. Snowman” has a black top hat on today, I decided use black as an accent color to add the contrast to the real red BUT…the real fun is the Corrugated Paper  (page 148 in the annual catalog). If you have not worked with, it is fun.

  IMG_0687

You get (2) sheets of white and (2) sheets of craft. I realize that this is a product that you might not use a lot but it is something fun to use from time to time as it gives a fun interest! (I think it will be great for snowflakes and also a great accent for Valentines)

Because the sentiment was too long for the space that I had, I simply “fussy cut it randomly” and then matted it on real red….BAM – done! I love this font, actually there are many great sentiments in the stamp set.

  IMG_0688

Before I adhered the white “fun” paper to the black, I adhered a small piece of the real red cotton ribbon and then used another piece to make a bow and a glue dot to the rescue! DONE!

Did you notice the red enamel dot on “Mr. Snowman’s” hat? These are another keeper and they are found on page 9 of the Holiday catalog. I sure hope that they get carried over once this catalog goes bye-bye but just in case, you bet that I will stock up on some. It is a perfect little accent that adds a subtle and classic bling!

Well….thoughts???? I know to get excited about making Holiday cards but it is really just 2 months away…..YIKES –  - please do not forget to send me a Holiday Swap card…you still have time, make one up over the weekend and send it my way.

I have really, really been a good girl and I have not opened up 1 swap card to take a peek. When John brings the mail in and he sees that “Swap Card” is on the envelope – he tosses it in a basket for me (he’s trained well…right?)

He teases me that he cannot believe that I have not opened them at all…why???? Well I know myself well enough – I would look…look…and look and get nothing done – I love to be able to sit down and be surprised and then I love showcasing them on my blog. I am always so proud of each and every one of you!

I hope to see you back tomorrow to see what I did to “Mr. Snowman” – he is just adorable and this is a fun set.  I hope that this cute card brought a smile to your face!

Simple Works = Tips for you!

IMG_0655

Good Morning! I am super-de-duper excited as John, Milo and I going to see Hannah for her last "Parents Weekend"….our Red Caboose is graduating from college this year ~ wowzers, that is hard to believe!

She is super excited as the girls (she has an apartment on Campus with 3 other great girls) are having all of the other parents over for a dinner….James laughed at that as I was cooking all last night to bring (2) different yummy soups and the other Moms are chiming in to! It will be a fun time!

IMG_0661

I thank you for so many wonderful comments yesterday. I was so happy that you enjoyed that card so I changed my plan for today's post to give you another super easy card that I used the watercoloring with the Aqua Painters and I thought I would share with you some answers to your comments.

You know me, I am a simple stamper. I often am asked how do you even start a project?

That is easy, I pick the stamp set and then just let it roll! I hope that the bullet points I have for you will help answer any questions you have, but please do not hesitate to email me if you need further help!

  • You can never go wrong with a great single stamp! This one is stellar as you can see how you can easily "mask off" the sentiment and use a different one!

IMG_0638

  • I used the aqua painter again, but if you are more comfortable with the markers or the blender pens….I say – GO FOR IT….I just like the softness and artistic look the aqua painter gives.
  • I use the NEW Basic Black Archival Stampin’ Pad – this is SUPER but I do recommend that you also purchase the refill as you do need to refill it to keep that great coverage.

  IMG_0640

  • Using the Sahara Sand around the focal part makes an INSTANT POP! I wish that you could hold tis card in your hand as it is so pretty on person…..sometimes it is hard to make a picture show the fun!
  • I like to use the green glue to adhere the vases….love the "wiggle" it gives!

IMG_0672

  • Again, using the aqua painter, I went to town quickly to color in the flowers! To get the deeper effect, I simply went over it twice. Can you see how the sahara sand makes the flowers POP forward.

IMG_0648

  • The candy dots are a perfect accent for a simple card…..I do not use them a bunch but when I do, it is simple – I SMILE. Having "basics" like this helps to bring a project together!

IMG_0676

  • You know how I feel about custom envelopes...LOVE THEM and the envelope punch board makes us look great each and every time – please feel free to reach out to me if you need help with how this works….I know that when I first purchased it I found it to be fustrating, but it is lie riding a bike, when you get it….you've got it!

I was asked yesterday how I mail the card that had the pearls? Well, 2 ways – an easy way is to take a piece of paper and run it thru the Big Shot and then place that over top as a cover or purchase some super thin foam sheets from Amazon, I find it to be very handy!

I know that I shared with you that I was going to show you a Christmas Card….no worries, you'll see it – I switched it up so you can see again how the Sahara Sand and Aqua Painters work!

A card for many reasons….

IMG_0615

Today this is a card that you could say….a card for many reasons…a card for many seasons…I say – one fun, versatile and special card that is truly SUPER easy to make!

Do you remember when I shared with you some swap cards from Atlanta …well this is where the inspiration came from, I just "changed it up" to make is a bit different! I call it a KEEPER!

Water Coloring…coloring….is so on trend and it is nothing short of sheer FUN….WHY? Easy = it shows an expression of you…it leaves a "feel good" of accomplishment and the lucky recipient will be smiling from ear to ear so I do hope that you "push out of your comfort zone" and give it a try!

IMG_0620

Today I did use the Aqua Painters and it was super simple to use the lighter color first on the leaves (pear pizzazz) and then added the deeper shade (old olive)…it is so fun to do and then with the flowers…the same…first I used the Wisteria Wonder and then added the deeper shade of Perfect Plum!

To make this beautiful floral spray of flowers pop even more, I used the Sahara Sand ink with the Aqua Painter and did a quick swipe all around! This does the trick..I love Sahara Sand as it always seem to "do the job"

IMG_0618

I chose to use the watercolor paper as the mat for the front of the card (usually I just use it for the image) as I like the texture is gives and then…here comes the true beauty of this card –

As the title of this posts says…a card for many reasons….the sentiment! I adore this font…and it is from the must have A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set but just think, you could easily use it with many different sentiments for many different themed cards.

IMG_0621

I just could not resist, I needed to add these teeny tiny pearls – a fun touch that still is clean and classic. The other touch that I did was a simple scoring…just love that tough!

IMG_0612

Well….thoughts??? I think that this is a great card and one that would be super fun to change up the colors but the thing that I think is the best is, it is super clean, classic and very simple to make!

I think that I am going to showcase this card in classes as I know that once people have an simple aqua painter in their hands…a paper towel handy to pick up extra moisture and I know that there will be some happy and proud faces!
