There is no doubt that you are smiling because this super sweet Halloween Stamp is just too darn cute! The minute I saw it in the new catalog…it was a "done deal" It is just one sweet stamp and the price is "sweet" as well!
The stamp is only available in wood mount and it it appropriately called, Halloween Happiness! I usually buy clear stamps when available as I prefer the small storage space it takes but I have a question for you?
Do you think there is a difference in the quality in the "stamp image" between a wood mount and a clear mount? Let gets some comments going about your thoughts!
I know that I have heard that some people think that the wood mount create a crisper stamp image but I think once you get comfortable with the clear mounting blocks…they work great! Storage to me is key…but there are some stamps (not many) that Stampin' Up! just sells in the wood mount…this is one of them!
TIP ALERT: speaking of the clear mounting blocks…KEEP THEM CLEAN! I wash mine (not as often as I should) in dawn detergent and once they are squeaky clean – they stick GREAT! Whenever I find that I am not getting a good grip, it is because they need cleaned!
This cute card will be a Breast Cancer Card in October…I think it is a sweet …quick… pick-me-up kinda card that will be well received! Another great thing about this card is…it is very affordable to make!
The envelopes are the Crumb Cake Note Card size and you get 40 of them for just $5.50….working out to about 14 cents per envelope and the card base would be about 15 cents…and then the other colors I used were Very Vanilla, Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive!
A CAS (clean & simple) card like this is a GREAT way to use up scraps! If you were just making 1 or 2 of this card, I would venture to say that you would not have to cut a sheet of paper and if you were making a bunch of them…wow – you would get many from one sheet of each of these colors! Super cute and fun!
I used my markers to color the image but being the"type A" stamper that I am….I did not get a good crisp orange ( guess I did not huff enough) so I thought…what the heck - just stamp them up "good and hard" with the pumpkin pie and then cut them out….if the lower image is not super strong…no biggie! Stampin' Dimensionals to the rescue and BAM!
I thought that the outside of the envelope needed some TLC today! Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper was the perfect match….those dots just do something to you!!! Love…LOVE…LOVE!!!!
Going back to my Scrapbooking Days…."dots…dots…and more dots"!!! This drives my kids NUTS but I just love how adding 3 little dots does something special! I tell them that I think it makes me feel like an artist!!!
Three things I cannot do….art -sing & sew! I have never mastered them and I do not seeing it happen in the near future!
A BIG shout out of thanks for all of the sweet comments about the look of my blog….my blog looks this way cause' Patsy Waggoner was my "knight in shining armor"!
As I have grown in age…I find it very comfortable to ask for help when I know I get frustrated….this is what I did…and I love the result!

I can see the smiles on the faces of the Breast Cancer people who receive these cute cards.
I am a wooden stamp person. One reason, for resale value.
The second is that the “clear” stamps are not clear at all.
They are opaque. If they actually were clear, I would like
them better. Plus, I can’t keep track of tiny stamps unless
they are wood mounted. Get lost in all the shuffle on my
stamping table. Just my opinion.
Love your card today, Susan. There’s just something about
pumpkins and Fall. I’m a dot/doodle person too. When I painted
we called those dots fillers. Balances out the design so much better.
Love this card. I am not a big Halloween person, but I like to send out cards. Sometimes I struggle to find a card that is appropriate for my taste. I have been looking at this stamp and it is on my list. Also, like your color palette. Will you share the dimensions of your papers. Your blog is one I always am excited to open and see what you have created. Thank you for sharing. Deb
I am a clear stamp fan mainly because of storage (mine is limited). If I ink the stamp and kind of huff a bit on it I get a nice crisp image.
Your card will be a great hit with the patients that receive them.
Happy Sunday!
Love this card, Susan! 🙂
What a great post, card and inspiration. I love the card because it was happy and bright. Thanks a bunch.
My go to stamps are WM. Maybe I need more practice with the CM. I think the quality of the stamp is equal, as far as crispness goes, it’s the handling and convenience of wood that I like. 🙂
Cute card! Like the way you popped the pumpkins. This card does make you smile. 🙂
I have been a Clear mount stamp person (because they are cheaper and easier to store); however, now that the wood mount cases make storage easier I may purchase more wood mount as I find it easier to just grab and stamp rather than having to mount on the clear blocks everytime and worry that I get it put on straight. Such decisions!
I had a hard time adjusting to cling and clear stamps because I kept them separate from my wood mount, which were my go-go stamps so I didn’t use them as much. My ink of choice at the time did not work well with clear stamps. I’ve since switched ink and can like and use both equally now. I may even be heading more towards cling because of the smaller storage required. One thing I’ve noticed about clear stamps is that the quality can vary greatly from manufacturer to manufacturer. I have no beef with Stampin’ Up stamps, they are high quality always!
I thought it interesting the lady who preferred wood for the resale value. I can’t sell off my old wood mount stamps unless it is dirt cheap, otherwise no one is interested.
Cute card, guaranteed to bring out a smile! Love how you popped them up. I definitely prefer the clear cling mount for the storage issue for sure! Aren’t they the same rubber image – just mounted differently? I don’t see why there would be a difference in crispness then. But, what do I know? Your group will have a great time making these cards and those who receive them. Guaranteed smiles if you ask me! I am trying to decide which pumpkin is my favorite! I am not a big Halloween person so I really like this stamp.
Hey, congratulations! I just noticed your banner! It isn’t February anymore? I am always in such a hurry to get to your card that I don’t notice the top. I also love reading your texts. I really like today’s card! One question — what did you use to make the dots?
I too am a wood mount stamper, but the price and storage of clear mounts have made me go with them. I love SAB because I can get FREE sets in wood. One thing I have learned to do with clear mounts is to put them back into the whole rubber that they came in. This helps to control the whereabouts of the tiny stamps and will let you know what may be missing in the set. I have a tough time seeing through the clear blocks unless I stand up to stamp. The clearness of the image has more to do with getting used to the juicy new ink pads than the stamps because the “clear” stamps are the same rubber as the wood mount. The only truly clear stamps are the photopolymer stamps. Sorry so long, but I hope I can add some help to you stampers out there. Thanks for the cleaning tip! Nancy B
Good evening, Susan, this is a great card and love the color combinations. I’m not much into Halloween either, but this is more a neutral card and I like that. I do make Halloween cards for my grandkids, but try to keep them happy cards:). I really like the new “clear mount” stamps, mainly for the storage and price. I have no problem getting a crisp color and the blocks are easy to work with. When SU has wooden block stamps only, I just don’t mount them on the blocks and they work fine. And as Nancy B mentioned if you put them back into the rubber piece they came in it keeps them neater and easier to find the stamp you are looking for.
