It is the weekend and that means that it is time for a 2 day post that you all have seemed to love….for those of you that are NEW….welcome and let me share with you what I do on the weekends!
On Saturday, I share with you a card and I call it Simple Saturday…as you know me – Simple Susan and then tomorrow I will try to STEP up the card and we call that Step It Up Sunday! If you have not already done so, please subscribe to my blog so you do not miss a dose of fun! You can do so on the right side of my blog!
This super sweet and classic Mason Jar is from the Jar of Love Bundle! True you could purchase this set a la carte but that would be silly as purchasing it as bundle will mean that you get an instant 10% off and we all live a deal! I invite you to LOOK at all of the amazing elements to this bundle…
I know that many of you do not have all of the colors of ink pads and that is great….you need to “build up” you inventory to see what works for you …and what does not tickle your fancy.
Today’s card, I am just using the sweet sugarplum for the color of the flowers (it looks like 2 different ink colors, right?….HOW DID I DO IT? Easy – I just stamped off the ink to get it lighter and then used the next stamp “full strength” to give the depth!
I know that many of you might be saying….why in the world did you use this new Thoughtful Branches for just the “Thank You” – I know that it seems silly but tomorrow it will make sense to you…so hang tight!
Remember that the below bundle is available for you to purchase on August 2nd – 31st (WHILE SUPPLIES LAST) and if you click here you will see another post I did earlier in the week using it! (I call this a keeper)
This is a 4 1/4″ Square Card (square cards make me 🙂 and you can see that I am keeping this super simple today. The flowers that are in this bundle are sweet and super easy to make…WHY???? They are labeled with an arrow so you know exactly how to place them (also – this is a photopolymer stamp….so even easier)
That wonderful Envelope Punch Board is the shining star in making the envelope today. I admit, when Stampin’ Up! came out with Envelope Paper I was a bit skeptical as I thought that because it was a bit thinner, it would not hold up…but I was wrong. To me, it adds a fun twist from a white envelope and the color allows you to still easily read with a black pen!
You all know that I am a firm believer in our trimmer as our trimmer allows you to cut and score BUT.…I will say that I prefer to use the Simply Scored to get a super deep scoring like I have done on this card…this is a technique that I do often but one that I never get tired of.
There are many times that I think, do you get tired of seeing the same techniques? I hope not because I hope that you can see that there are so many different cards that we make and send and if you have something that WORKS??? why not do it again and again!
I am excited to share with you tomorrow what I did….enjoy the day and please come back tomorrow as I will share with you the measurements so you can CASE away!
Susan your card is so pretty. I love everything about your card. Please Do Not ever stop doing the extra scoring on your cards. This extra scoring is beautiful. I can not think how you could ever do anything to step this card up. It is so pretty now. Your flowers are beautiful. Have a great day. Ellen Hinds
A comment from Ellen is like a ray of sunshine. Thank you. I will keep the scoring going as it is such a FAST and CLASSIC end result! Enjoy the day!
I love this card and can’t imagine what you will do for a stepped-up version. I always look forward to your weekend posts! I haven’t used my new envelope paper yet but I will now. Thank you for your wonderful work and inspiration!
I was the same way about the envelope paper….I had it but was afraid to use it but I am SHOCKED at how easy it is to work with…..so easy for clean and crisp score lines and the weight makes fabulous envelopes! Please pull your paper off the shelf and try it, I think that you will smile!
Love the card! And that chubby little jar is the best! I have been on the fence with this bundle but you are getting me into trouble…. again!
I adore these chubby little mason jars….I actually use them in my craft room to hold odds -n- ends…so simple yet classic! ME…and ENABLER – you betcha!
Beautiful card today. I love the flowers in the little jar. Can’t wait to see how you step it up tomorrow. Have a great day!
There is something so simple yet so easy to see flowers in a mason jar. I love them in person, I love them on a card!
Hi Susan! Well, dear, you are definitely “twisting my arm” into getting this jar bundle. It was on the top of my list when the catalog came out, and then as I saw many cards come through with it, I thought hmmm, maybe not…. And then I see a card like this and it’s gone back to the top of my list again! It’s so pretty – I LOVE it!
I hear you …I hear you. I thought that it was just too $$$$ and that was my first drawback but then I said, “I can use this in a way that is SIMPLE” – and I love it! Sometimes I think that when we see a stamp set/bundle that has so many elements to it, we get overwhelmed with thinking that we have to use everything….I say “break it down” into small steps….Thanks for popping in!
Beautiful!
I’ve been trying to talk myself out of buying this bundle but you’ve now just made it impossible to resist. Lol. The linen thread makes your jar even more realistic. Love that touch. I also prefer using the simply scored board instead of my scoring blade on my trimmer. Have a great day, ladies!
I felt the exact same way….I was NOT going to get this bundle and then I kept seeing Mason Jars in my craft area and Mason Jars all over my house and then I revisited it and CAVED…and I am soooooo glad that I did! I think that this is a classic that we will keep even if it ever goes on a bye-bye list….
Hi Caleb!!!
Sweet card today. I’m not surprised that you used the sentiment from Thoughtful Branches. I like the sentiment’s font in most all the messages. Looking forward to tomorrow’s stepped-up version.
YEAH!!!! I am so happy to hear that someone else likes the sentiments in this set, I think that it is the font style that is so appealing. I think that you are going to love Sunday’s card! Hugs my friend!
computer keyboard problems so will keep this quick. i love it
Chris, I miss your fun replies…hurry and fix the computer my cyber friend!
We all agree…CHRIS R. – get that computer fixed, we miss you!!!!
We miss you…..go plant yourself at the Library and come back to making us smile!
Love this card and the chubby, little jar is so cute! Don’t stop doing your score lines….I started doing them because you inspired me. And also your dots and dashes! Can’t wait for tomorrow. Enjoy!
You make me smile, I am so glad that you like the score lines. It is amazing at how something so simple to do can create such a fun effect!I saw some sheep on my travels that were just sheered and they looked so silly….I laughed ant those of you!
Love how this card came out. I can’t think of how it would be stepped up. ?
Knowing you…I think that there will be a smile on your face when you see the stepped up one!
I just started stamping with versamark so I love today’s version! Definitely a keeper! I am also an animal person and take photos of them (mostly dogs) wherever I go. I’m going to say this guys name is Golf Cart.
What pretty colors for your mason jar card. Since I rarely do email on the weekend I always run across your stepped up version first. As soon as I see it, I advert my eyes and rush to see the simple version. I really like this. I wasn’t interested by the mason jar at all until I saw this. Now I’m all, “Hmmm…..”
