Happy Weekend! Here you go with a super SIMPLE card that is a keeper for a guy! I was thinking about PEEP James when I made this as you know…dear old Mom would LOVE to make some cards for her peeps to send out! Here is a funny….when John came home last night, I showed him the cards for his thoughts!
His response…”LOVE them – I would like a dozen!” When I said, “John., I was going to make these for James” ~ he said great – we have different friends. I would love a dozen (or more) for some special clients! Well…I guess I should be flattered…right?????
You know how I feel about single stamps, it is simple – they are keepers. This one is very unique and yep…it is “walking the plank on the bye-bye list” I thought that it was super unique and I knew instantly is would be on Randall Lane. ( PLUS – it is on sale for just $12.75)
Now you need to admit, it doesn’t get any simplier than this!?!!? When I have a BIG stamp like this, I like to take my ink pad to the stamp and then place the paper on top of the inked up side and press with my hands to transfer the ink.
You can see that I used a much larger piece of paper than I needed but to me, it is easier to do it this was and then take it to the trimmer to get it all lined up to the exact size I need.
To me, the colors ~ the neutrals is what makes this a great “guy card”. I originally had a Crumb Cake star on the tree and when John saw tomorrows card….he said – you need to make a sparkly star like that card! (well…there is a hint for tomorrows card!)
This stamp set and framelit was carried over from last year and I say….it has not been blogged a bunch about this year but it is a keeper. (look at the products used at the end of the post). I used the smaller tree in the framelit set to adhere to the tree….works great – right?!?!
If you ever use the fun foam, remember to use an adhesive like fast fuse as it needs a “dry” adhesive….it is a heck of mess with the green glue, just sayin’ ~ been there…done that!
Here is the “pretty picture”…it just makes my heart pitter – patter when I see the envelope beside it. The COMPLETE picture…a true smile maker! The Warmth & Cheer DSP Stack had been a great addition to the Holiday Collection this year. I am a die hard lover of plaids and I was super happy with all of the yummy paper that are in this collection!
There you go! I am in love with this card and I am THRILLED that John loves it….now let’s hope that PEEP JAMES feels the same way. I know that it is hard to find a card for a “guy” – but I think that this is a keeper!
Don’t forget about the on going YEAR END CLOSE OUTS – shop away…and then TURN THE DIAL to PICK a stamp set of your choice from my VAULT OF STAMPIN’ FUN! I will send you “the list” and TRUST ME….it is a HUGE list…5 years worth of goodies and I have been making smiles!
Have a great day…..get some decorating in – make memories and JUST HAVE FUN! I hope to see you back tomorrow to see what it up my sleeve! Stampin’ hugs!
It’s no surprise that John loved this card, because it is terrific! James will love it for sure. I cannot wait to see tomorrow’s post!! Have a wonderful day. 🙂
You made me smile! I am blessed to have a fan club in my own home….just like YOU and your guys!
Wonderful card! I love the Merry Medley stamp! And I love the simple tree on it. Perfect!
I couldn’t agree more – this is a fantastic single stamp. The single tree just seems to “fit the bill” on this simple card – That stamp set has not seen a bunch of love on blogs this year so I decided to give it some well deserved love.
Love it! This card is a great “man” card. I just got this stamp but now I need the tree set. Early Christmas present to myself maybe. Can’t wait for tomorrow.
This tree set is a great one. It was funny that when I pulled it out…the poor guy was sooooo stained and loved from last year – that is a GOOD THING! There is just something about the shape and detail of this tree that I love.
A perfect “guy” card. This stamp is definitely a keeper . Love the Crumb Cake version .
See ya tomorrow for the next one !!
Crumb Cake always has a soft space in my heart – it is perfect for just about anything and I love the “home & comfort” feel it gives!
Super excited to see tomorrow’s card! Glad Merry Medley was part of my order!! Infact, I bought an extra to cut up.
You are a smart stamper…..but then I already knew that!
Susan- this is truly beautiful…love, love, love….
Thank you…so simple yet so special!
I love the simplicity of this card, Susan. After using this background stamp in Atlanta, I came hoe and ordered it right away! I think I’ll make a bunch of these…but maybe I’ll wait to see what you do with it tomorrow! 🙂
You make me laugh! I am going to do more cards this week with this stamp set….but I did “surgery” on the stamp….I think you know what I did – it is a keeper!
Ohh I love the card and the envelope! I have always liked this stamp but thought I don’t need it but maybe I still do. I thought some of the individual sections of the stamp were really cool esp. the noel going vertical. I don’t have that tree set but I have the Festival of Trees and the punch for it – they would be smaller but probably would work – wouldn’t they? I am really enjoying crumb cake cards again this year so this is a stellar one too. Can you use a dauber or marker to make the star gold and shiny? Oh how I wish Mike would ask me to make his cards – he went to Hallmark and bought some glittery ones so he has glitter all over the desk etc. Anyway, I love it and think I need to get the stamp. Justification, on sale and I could make my friend a set of them and a little holder for a present. Oh, wouldn’t it be cute to have the bear in his sweater pointing to the words? Well, back to making some of my cards with an old PP kit.
Hello and how are tings with the Walmart situation? We have all been thinking of you and Mike. Thanks for the comments. I originally wanted to put a gold star with the metallic paper but then John liked the sparkly glimmer paper – That Mike….what are we going to do with him – I say ask him to meet you in the kitchen at 2 p.m. and just put a couple of products in front of him and then say that you will be back in an hour…..I am sure he will make a masterpiece!
They have not let us know yet why the 66 year old crashed through the store. He has been released from the hospital so I think a heart attack or seizure maybe wasn’t the cause. I didn’t personally know the 3 that died. My neighbor knew the woman customer that died and her husband is still in the hospital with multiple injuries. The store is still closed for repairs thought the pharmacy is open.
I don’t see Mike creating any cards. For one thing the table has decorations, card stuff, an iron, and just tons of stuff on it so he couldn’t use it would be his excuse! The Big Shot is parked at one end though! He also wouldn’t be able to find the stuff he wanted to use on the card to start with and would have to have Amazon deliver the glue etc. the next day!
I would shy away from Always Artichoke, but now I’m changing my mind. I love it with the crumb cake and soft suede. It is a striking and simple design. Thanks for sharing it.
It is super fun to play with all types of color combinations – I will say that I feel like I get STUCK in a color rut….but when I take that dive and try something different…I am a happy camper!
I love this card too. I think I can CASE it into something I will use for my Christmas cards this year too. Looks super wonderful. (I’ll keep you posted.)
🙂
YIPPEE…that makes me smile – it is sooooo easy and you could really have fun with different papers/inks! I just love single stamps as I think that they always are soooooo versatile and now that it is on sale – BINGO!
I’ve started using the fun foam too. Our Hobby Lobby carries it with one side sticky! They also have it 1/4″ thick which makes for a sweet stamping mat!
YEAH – I really love the dimension that it gives but I will say that I have not had the best luck with the ones that have the adhesive already on it. Maybe it is just me! I have a friend that always uses that as a mat – GREAT POINT….sometimes it is super fun to look out of the box and make things work!
I have resisted getting this stamp but after seeing the presentation at WCMD with it being cut apart, and seeing Jeanie Stark’s masterful use of stamping and strategically cutting up the stamped image, and then seeing YOUR great take on using it for a “masculine” card, it’s in the shopping cart. No excuses left!! Love the design of your card AND the envelope. I have been using my Warmth and Cheer like crazy (2 packs of it!!) and just hope that SU comes up with a repeat homerun next year. (I am trying SO HARD to use up my paper and not hoard. As you always say, there is inevitably even better offerings right around the corner…) It really was a versatile pack. Can’t wait to see what you have come up with for Stepped up Sunday. Thanks for a great post.
Great comment and truth be told, I have 2 of these stamps…..one that is solid like I am using today and the other I do have all cut up! I will be blogging about that this week. You simply cannot go wrong with this stamp. The classic fonts and super sentiments scream a traditional holiday! Thanks for popping in! STAMP ON!
This is definitely a great “guy” card, Susan, and would be so easy to mass produce. I’m a day late on this post and never realized you answer the comments. So cool! Take care and I’m popping over to today’s post to see how this card changes.
I love the natural colors to this. This is definitely a keeper and looks easy to mass produce. Have fun with it!
