Happy New Year…wow it is 2014!!!
Let's all have a great year together and I hope that each and everyone of you finds time for peace, joy and a lots of laughter in your dailiness of life! I know…we all get soooo stressed (and I am guilty too) about things that really do not make a difference in the "big picture of life"…so let's try to start with being patient and kind to ourselves!
Today is a very different post but by now you know me and my style – I could go on and on about all sorts of things and today I wanted to randomly pick some of my favorite products that we have at Stampin' Up! and give you the "why's" I love them so much as well as some "tips and tricks" that I have found with them!
Here you go….these are not in any particular order of my preference – they are just what I see around my work area as I look around and type! Read to the end as you will see that I am going to do 3 of these posts over the next week and you will have the opportunity to win some blog candy!
I am purposely not putting in specific stamp sets…the solid papers….and the Big Shot…as to me – these are the staples…(bread & butter) to our fabulous collection of products!
- Stampin Trimmer – this is simply the BEST on the market….anywhere – any store….this is the best! I know when it came out, many of my customers said – "I already have a trimmer, why would I want another one…." Well – by the next month – they ordered it! Why to l love it so much….easy!

- The size – I love the fact that it is sooooo portable and that you can make 12" cuts…you can SCORE with it – that in itself is a HUGE WOOT-WOOT!!!
- I love that you can buy replacement blades and scoring blades and that the cuts are sooooo accurate as the guide cannot be "worn" down as it is "under" the clear part!
- To me – this is a total necessity and honesty I bought another one to put the Rotary Additon on it so I do not have to take it on and off…this way I have the felxibility to make all sorts of cuts – small scallop border and a tiny wave border
- Paper Snips – ok…this is another thing that I am sure many of you say….I have a pair of scissors…why would I spend $9.95 for a pair….well if you have them you aready you already know that they are the best scissors in the world…I just lost another pair to one of my "peeps" that is a school teacher as he said – WOW – these are the best…and off they went to Boston!

- For those of you that do not like to "fussy cut" – this is your "dream machine" – once you try them – you'll be hooked – but buy 2…..you'll never regret it!
- The are the best to take on planes….because of the case – I never have an issue with them as I have a pair in my needlepoint kit!!!
- Craft Scissors – ok…I know that these are REALLY $$$$$ and it took me 2 years to purchase them and everytine I use them I say to myself – why in the heck did I not but these before! This is why I adore them!

- The are literally a weapon…..I am serious – they are the heaviest and sharpest scissors in the world! To cut ribbon with "no frays" – this is the ticket! I can cut piece of ribbon "flush" to the edge of a card and you would think that I wrapped it around….nope! they are just that sharp!
- I realize that they are $$$$ but as my Mom always said, you pay for what you get! This is a great item to use a 1/2 price item or use your hostess rewards with! Do it….you will not regret it!
- Big Shot Magnetic Platform – This is simple a no-brainer….remember how it was sold out for sooooo long and soooooo many people were frustrated!?!?! – Well, the reason is….SIMPLE – it is the BEST! This is a super easy "why" I love it!

- Do you remember how frustrating it was to have "stick it notes" to hold your framelits in place??? YIKES – who wants to do that!!! This eliminates every frustration in the book…but REMEMBER – you still need to use your cutting pads!!!
- I love to use this tool to get out a "peek -a boo" on the front of my cards….and stamp an image on the inside!
- This also is great to use 2 different sizes of a framlit to cut out to make a wider frame which will create a wow statement!
- Designer Series Paper Stacks – I know that I said that I was not going to go with "solid paper" but this is different…to me – these are a MUST in my opinion as with all of the other options that we have with lining and decorating our cards and envelopes….these paper stacks are just wonderful! Why….

- They come in every color palate that we offer so you know that you will ALWAYS get s fun paper to match a project you are working on!
- They are a great accent to make a POP happen with a simple card! Each color comes in4 differnt print schemes….so you will never be bored witht he variety of prints!
- Candy Dots – Who ever thought of these was nothing short of brilliant!!! LOVE THEM….they are so easy to use!

- These also come in every color collection that we have…and they are just $5.95 for 100 dots! It is a perfect quick accent to make a card go from o.k. to WOW with just a simple touch!
- The easiest way to get these gems off…use your paper snips to get "under" the adhesive or use your paper piercing tool….works everytime!
- Stampin' Scrub – ok…I know that many of you are going to think that this is not a necessity but i TOTALLY disagree….why….look below!

- This keeps your stamps clean and in great condition! We all have heard that it takes a while to create a habit….to me – it is someting that I need to do for at least 7 to 10 days in a row to make it become a habit = well ….this is the same with the Stampin' Scrub…I ALWAYS use it each and everytime I stamp!
- If you have it out…right as you are working and have the Stampin' Mist right beside you…(this is a must – get the refill and the little one to mist and you are set for a L O N G time) – you will get USED TO STAMPIN'…CLEANING…PUTTING YOUR STAMPS AWAY!!!!
- I get asked often….how often to your clean it? Well…no secret recipe…just when I feel like it's been a while! I simple run it under the sink and "squish" water all around until I see the water run clear and then pat it with a paper towel….and then put it on a drying rack and by morning – it's ready to be used !!! This REALLY is a must in my eyes – LOVE IT and would not be without it!!!!
O.k. – I know that I am totally rambling on and I just showcased only 7 items today….but I am going to continue with these types of posts over the next week!!! I hope that they have been helpful to you and also have enlightened you to our products….
Now here is a way for you to WIN some fun! Please leave me a comment or send me an email and I will put your name in a "pot of gold".…and after all 3 posts…I will pick one person from the random.org sight to make it fair for everyone and you will have the chance to win in honor of the NEW YEAR….

I thank you for popping by today and I truly wish you a Happy New Year! Remember to leave me a comment and you could win the 2014 blog candy for the start of the NEW YEAR! If you are a SUD that follows my blog….please leave me a comment – we all work together and I too go to your blogs for inspiration!
This time next week…I will be in Houston at the Leadership Convention and I am OVER THE TOP excited…to be with the PALS…meet some of the friends I have met this past year from my blog and also get a BIG hug from Patsy Waggoner…she is the SUD that has helped me with my blog design!!!
Here's to a great year ….Unitl tomorrow!

by Susan Itell | Dec 3, 2013 | Sympathy, Tips and Tricks!!!, Watercoloring |

Naturally there are times that we need to send sympathy cards…and most of the time, the timing can be unexpected so my 1st tip of the day is to have some sympathy cards made up so you can get them out in a timely manner!
I also like to have cards on hand that can be made easily in multitudes…and steps! Making a bunch of cards in a step by step method makes it a fun task!
What so I mean by step by step = that is when I can break down a card…like for this card – say if I were going to make 12 of them…I would in steps…

- Cut my Crumbcake Card stock (6 sheets) and score it!

- Using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I took the "with sympathy" sentiment from the Loving Thoughts Stamp Set and did a quick stamp and BAM – done!

TIP ALERT! – Can you see how large and uniform my piercing holes are? I like to do them this way and how I did it is a 2-step method:
- I do the initial quick pierce…pierce…pierce all the way around!
- Next, I go back and really push the stylus down deeply through the mat to get that deep, yet uniform pierce! – Love this look!
- Now to my favorite part…water coloring! Using the Aqua Painter and the inks I used for this card were, Always Artichoke, Perfect Plum and Sahara Sand…This is sooooo fun and the best tip I can give you it just keep practicing! Did you see a bit of shimmer to the flowers? This was adding just a bit of Dazzling Details to the centers – I love the effect it gives!

- Out come the Stampin Dimensionals! Place them all over the water colored piece and the magic will happen! To me, all cards look better with some depth and dimension!
Are you seeing how you can just do certain steps at a time and then go back and do the next! As for the water coloring…I like to do this if I am watching a TV show and not that the Voice is on – this is my multi tasking…painting and watching tv!
TIP ALERT: Please conserve your paper! You can get 8 liners easily from a sheet of paper….you can get 12 but that is tight! There is no reason why you have to line all the way to the bottom!
Breaking down tasks is the way to go! Many of times when I know I am making a bunch of something, one day I’ll cut my paper, another use the big shot etc…when we try to accomplish too much we get stresses and that’s no fun!

I know it is a sad thing to send a sympathy card but reality is that we have to from time to time! This to me is a beauty and I adore the greens and purples together!
It’s Tuesday and that means more weekly deals! Click here to see what’s on sale this week! My favorite picks….well the Heart Framlits are a must for Valentines…but I ADORE the Merry Mini Pack…makes the added touch everytime…..and the Fun FLowers Bigz L Die….is just simply FUN and makes me smile!
Tomorrow is 3 weeks until Christmas…..SUPER YIKES!
I will be showcasing another Holiday Card for you! As I said before, pace yourself – get a piece of paper out and write down the list of accomplishments you want to tackle for the holidays and then break them down!
Doing this will make you a much happier person!
Need help!?!? Please email me and I will be happy to give you some tips and tricks! There are lots of fun and exciting "happenings" going on with Stampin' Up and you can click here at anytime to get your goodies delivered to your door!!! I say woot-woot!
Enjoy your Tuesday and until tomorrow….

Black Friday is a week from today but who needs to wait for a week when you can get great Stampin’ Up! deals today!

As promised, I am going to try to show you cards and projects using the products that are on sale!
Simply click the picture below and you will see the whole list of goodies that are available just until December 2nd!

This is a “Susan Card” – love the simplicity of it and I love the fun and festive colors! Can you believe that you can get so much wow on a small card of this size!
This is using the Notecards and Envelope, which is just a 3 ½ “X 5” card, and another great thing about this card is there is no extra postage needed!

Stamp the “deck the halls” sentiment from the Christmas Messages Stamp Set in the middle of the card! I used Cherry Cobbler! YEP – this stamp set is on sale….woot-woot!

TIP ALERT: I have so many people email me and ask me how I get my stamp impressions so even and bold = I KEEP MY INK PADS INKED UP!

I think that many times we over look purchasing the re-inkers but they are so important to have,
especially in the colors that you use often!
There is nothing worse or more frustrating than to be working on a project and the image is not coming out crisp and clean! Try to get in the habit of keeping your ink pads well inked – you’ll be a happier stamper!!!
1st cut a piece of Crumb Cake into the size of the card, 3 ½” X 5”….hang tight – you’ll understand why later!
Pulling out the Big Shot and also the magnetic platform (LOVE THIS) I used the Deco Labels Framelit to cut out the frame! YEP – this is on sale….woot-woot!
TIP ALERT: I know it is the “type A” in me, but I did pull out the ruler to find the center as you really do want this to be rather precise! A quick turn of the Big Shot and presto!

NOW take this to your stampin trimmer and cut off 1/8” all the way around so you will get the mat effect….stampin’ dimensions all around makes the wow for this card!
To add a little interest I pulled out some punches….not necessary at all but if you have this punch I would “go for it”!!! it is the Bird Builder Punch – it took me forever to purchase this punch and I will say…wow – there are sooooo many great ideas to use this punch with it!

When in doubt – google it! You will be amazed with just putting in the item – Stampin’ Up! – WATCH OUT…you’ll get LOTS of ideas!!!

Using the old olive paper I did a quick punch of the vine and did a quick trim to make it a bit shorter….then just a couple of cherry cobbler dots to add the berries!
I did stamp the inside of the card with the sentiment that is on this stamp set…what a wonderful message!

The lining of the envelope was a cinch with the Envelope Liner Framelit and the Big Shot! If you do not have both of these tools – please write Santa a note!
The paper was from the Season of Style Designer Series Paper Stack…and when you make this size of card…you can get 2 liners from one sheet of paper! Fun!!!
Do you realize that you could line 96 envelopes with just 1 pack of this for $6.95 –
I say….wowzers!

I adore this card and I will say that this is one that I will definitely make…it won’t be my “end all” pick for the family card but I will be making many of these as I just love the simplicity and clean lines of this card!
I hope that you have printed off this list and check it twice…and I hope that I continue to inspire you with ideas from this sale list!
Exciting times…I think that we are all going to be in a HUGE rush for Christmas as Thanksgiving is sooooo late this year! It’s ok - as that’s why I am here – to help inspire you – to help you reach your goals – and to help you smile!

Please feel free to email me and get ready for tomorrow…as I will be inspiring you with more goodies from the sale list!
Thanks for popping by…please click my LIKE FACEBOOK….and please tell your family and friends about my daily blog….
Until tomorrow!

This is a fun card that looks tricky to make but hang on…it's not! Hopefully if you have popped by via my wonderful upline, Mary Fish's blog…..1st thank you and 2nd….I hope you pop back!
Being in Mary's team is the best learning experience and fun ride one could ask for! She is so gracious to her downline in offering to be "guest stampers"! Thanks for being here and I hope that this post inspires you!

This
“starburst” card has a “I don’t know if I can do it look” but hang on…you’ll
see that it is easy to make and then I want you to think about how this style
will be great in using up scraps of paper…let’s get going!
The
card is a 5 ½” square card…fun size…right?!?! True, all square cards do require
extra postage but just imagine how you would feel going to your mailbox and
finding this card!
Please
do not forget that many of our papers come in a 12” X 12” size…and many times
they are lifesavers when paper crafting!
It’s
wonderful to know that you can always make your own envelops now thanks to the
wonderful Envelope Punch Board! Then lining is a snap as well…we are so blessed
to have incredible tools for us to look like pros!
I
am going to also show you that you can save a bunch of paper with some easy
tips and tricks! Pick you paper scheme and then go for it!

The
papers I used were from the Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper and also the Eastern Elegance Designer Series Paper. The size was a 1 ½” X 4 ½” and I cut 1
only from each color!
Here
comes a great tip…. you need to cut these papers diagonally and the best way is
to use the Stampin' Trimmer and place the blade in the middle of the paper and
then slide up and down…. why???

If
you start at the tip you are likely to “dent” the tip of the paper – doing it
this way will allow you to have a good and clean cut!
Here
we go….
- Cut a 5” square Very Vanilla
- Cut a 5 1/8” square of Tangerine Tango
- Cut a 5 3/8” square of Chocolate Chip
TIP
ALERT: To the Tangerine Tango and the Chocolate Chip…save paper and make some
punches…. use a die (I used the Top Note Die) to save paper!!!

Using
the Big Shot and the super fun and fresh Expressions Thinlits Dies to cut the
word “thankful” was a cinch….another tip that I learned from Mary…use a piece
of wax paper in between the die before you run it through and it will pop out
easy!

I
cut the 5” square into a piece that is 3” and then a 2” one! Using the 2 way glue pen to adhere this “thankful” sentiment is a cinch! Here comes
the fun!
Take
your faithful ruler and find the cent of the 5” X 3” piece at 2 ½”!!! This is
soooo easy and soooo fun…I do use the 2 way glue pen for this as it is so
easy….starting in the middle, simply take the cut pieces of paper and adhere
them side by side. (Look at the picture, you’ll see the overhang…it’s ok!)
After
doing the whole image you can do a quick flip and trim off the excess and then
flip over and say WOW – I did
this!!!

Just
adhere this to the card and then I took a “sliver” of Tangerine Tango to just
“break” the lines and make it even more fun!

The
envelope was easy-peasy with the new
– must have Envelope Punch Board …simply follow the guide that is
printed on the front and you look like a pro!
Lining
it was super easy and with the help of Mary Fish’s fabulous video it will make
“total sense” to you! I always love to embellish my envelopes….another way to
make you feel special!

I hope
that this post has inspired you to try this super fun and unique technique! In
a million years I would have never imagined that I would be able to make a card
like this!
I
am a very clean and simple gal and do not care for a lot of fru-fru but I will
say…since I have joined Mary’s team, I have grown personally and also as a paper
crafter! Why?
Easy-peasy!
Mary gives us the resources to learn, to grow, and to simply do what we
want…when we want it…and she is there when we need her!
I
truly started out as being a hobbyist and I still consider myself a hobbyist
but I am eager to grow and built a team to share the fun with many others that
want to be inspired!
Please
email me if you are interested in being a part of my team and growing and being
inspired along the way! I love to help people reach goals and I love to
encourage you to realize that YOU CAN DO IT!
Stampin’
Up! is fun…Stampin’ Up! is rewarding and Stampin’ Up! is a wonderful

by Susan Itell | Oct 11, 2013 | Birthday, Tips and Tricks!!! |

I have a confession….and I am being very honest! A week ago was a Pal Paper Art Challenge and I was sooooooo over the top excited with my card….so much that I went to my Stampin' friend and encouraged her to play with the PALS this week…..to only…..
Find out that I used the wrong colors! I was sooooooo darn tootin' happy with myself that I was prepared 4 days in advance…only to be deflated that I did the wrong colors…..but I thought – "OK – I will use that for another post"…..so here you go and its a great card!
Remember how I have told you endless times that when you find a layout that you like…to remember it and do it again….and again…..and again – just changing the sentiments and stamps! Well…this is one of those kind of cards!
This whole card making thing is not a "rocket science" – rather it is a method and using a method is easy and duplicatable!
We all are too hard on ourselves…Just roll with what works for you!

Here you go….you'll be happy as I have some great tips and measurerments for you!
The colors used were Very Vanilla, Baked Brown Sugar (love!), Crisp Cantaloupe and Pear Pizzazz and they are all cut at 2 5/8" X 2"
Line each of these up and use Sticky Strip on the back BEFORE you run it through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder to do the magic! This trick makes is soooo easy to keep the rectangles the same size!

Now pull off the Sticky Strip and mat it to a piece of Very Vanilla – cut at 4 1/8" X 5 3/8"
TIP ALERT! If you want – this is a PERFECT time to use this piece of Very Vanilla to cut a shape out as it is going to be covered…like the circle that you are using for the card….love saving paper when you can!

The circle is from the Circle Framelits and the Scalloped Circle Punch is the perfect backdrop!

Do cupcakes make you as happy as they do me? They make me smile…and I love this Create A Cupcake Stamp Set and Cupcake Builder Punch! Using all of the colors make it a fun and festive card!

We need to have a sentiment…..right? "Happy Birthday" does the job and it is from the Bitty Banners Stamp Set and then using the matching, Bitty Banners Framlits make this an "easy-peasy" card!

If you were to "glance" at this card….you would think that it is hard…..but break it down….it is very do-able….it is down-right easy!
I do realize that there are many tools used for this card but when you think about it…we all send so many birthday cards out….wouldn't this be a super one to make in all different color schemes!!! To me…it's a keeper!

My goal and my passion is to show you that YOU can do it….making card DOES make a diifference not only to YOU but it also makes a difference to those that recieve them!
Envelope time….this was sooo darn easy as I simply lined the outer flap of the envelope with the Baked Brown Sugar Paper from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack!

Today is a special day for John and I….our daughter is coming home from College and I say WOOT-WOOT! I cannot wait to get a BIG Hannah hug and I am super excited to see her and I have lots of fun projects to do together with her for Halloween to give to her college friends!
We are in our 5th day of the super opportunity to join for just $25.00. I have had the opportunity to talk with several people asking…is the really for real? Easy – YES it is…and this IS the best for the stamper that enjoys our product….being able to order the new goodies earlier….being able to order at a discount….
The questions I am asked are…
- Do I have to teach classes = NO
- Do I have to have a blog = NO
- Are their penalties if I decide that this is not for me = NO
You can do this for YOU – email me and I will call you to talk!
Our PALS group lead by the wonderful Mary Fish has been growing this week and it is so darn tootin' exciting to have more PALS…we are a fun group of endless energy and inspiration and I would be honored for you to be on my team!
You can simply click here….and get started….so easy….and I will promise you that I will inspire you and be by your side making sure your personal goals are met!

By now you know my style is clean and simple and I love to give you simple tips tp make card making fun and very do able! I would love to be on this journey together with you and if you decide that it is not for you…no biggie – I'm not going anywhere and I will still be there to help you, to inspire you and to hopefully make you smile!
Until tomorrow!

by Susan Itell | Oct 6, 2013 | Stamp-a-ma-jig, Tips and Tricks!!! |

I promise that today's post will not be as long as yesterday's but I wanted to reinforce how super-DE-duper the Stamp-a-ma-jig is and share with you another card that simply would not come to life without it!
I know…I know – this is a different type/style of card for me…but sometimes you just need to make something a bit different!
Before we get to the card…drum roll….drum roll….here is the winner of the blog candy from my 250th post… you know what I will say….a big WOOT-WOOT and the winner is…..
Ellen Berkson

Pumpkin and the other flavors and smells of Fall are why it is
Hands down my favorite time of year. Love your
Blog Susan, you are very talented. Hope your hubby
Is feeling better each day.
A big thank you Ellen for your kind and sweet comment….please email me your address and I will pop your goodies in the mail! Woot-Woot!!! I LOVE Pumpkin Pie and I adore the Fall!!!
Today's card is for my dear friends daughter that had a big scare this past week and they thought she had meningitis…thankfully she doesn't! I wanted to send her a WOOT-WOOT card "perking her up" and I thought the words "Yippee-Skippee" was just the right sentiment!
This stamp set, Yippee-Skippee is a fun and fresh set with some modern sentiments that make you smile! I chose to focus one 3 colors….odd numbers always work great and these colors are Island Indigo, Summer Starfruit and Chocolate Chip!

I am using a paper that I have not used in probably a year and honestly – I forgot about it and I do love it! It is the Naturals Whites and it is a "sleeper in the catalog" and I am sure is over looked by many….but please consider it as it gives a soft natural look – (I know it's hard to see on the card but on the envelope you can really see it).
The other thing that is great about being able to use this paper…being able to make your own matching envelope is a cinch with the Envelope Punch Board…another "must have" tool in your craft room!
I chose the colors for the card from the liner I was using for the envelope, the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper…a very modern paper but the colors are very subtle! I do this many times – I let my liner help guide me to how I create a card…"it's kind of like cooking "a little here…a little there"!!!
Just "roll" with what inspires you for the day….there are no rules!

You can see that without the help of the Stamp-a-ma-jig, this simply would not have turned out this way! It truly is a life saver and I hope that you love and appreciate that piece of plastic as much as I do!

Another must have tool and I am sure that many of you say "ya-da…ya-da" to it – but it is my stampin' friend along with it's side kick! What is it…you'll laugh but it is the Stampin' Scrub…just love this and would not be with out it…..(I actually have 2) as they come in handy when there are many hands trying to clean their stamps!
I know what you are thinking…how often do I clean it? Maybe once a week…maybe!

Why do I love it? – Easy-peasy….it deeply cleans your stamps and while it is doing that it conditions your stamps when you use the Stampin' Mist... a "peanut butter and jelly" combination! Once you simply get used to doing this….it is natural to you and it feels weird not doing it!
I realize that many use wet paper towels and also baby wipes….but I prefer this method as I know that my stamps are getting a deep clean and they get DRY…..to me this is key before storing them for the next time!
You can see from the above photo that I also used the very fun and popular Stamp Set, Gorgeous Grunge….utilizing all 3 colors that I stamped my sentiment with! This stamp is soooo versatile and does create a fun and fresh end result! I know…it's a fun & funky stamp set…but it really works with all types of cards!

Matting the paper and DSP and then adding the fresh Summer Starfruit Satin Ribbon and a simple "Susan knot"…works for me! Did you notice that I corner rounded opposite corners? That was a cinch with the Envelope Punch Board….to me it works much better than the punch!

Look at the envelope…you can see some of the "natural specks" in it….it really is rich and handsome and is perfect for Fall cards! I made the matching envelope and then had to make the mailman smile with a bit of fru-fru on the front of the envelope! (click on the picture to make it bigger – you'll see the specks)

I thank each and everyone of you that left me comments on my 250th Blog Posting….it's fun…it's a joy…it's a dailiness of my day! I hope that your Sunday is peaceful and that you can just simply find some time to enjoy yourself and enjoy the day!
Tomorrow is a super exciting day…with the new…incredible incentive kicking in and I truly hope that you find some time today and reflect on …"How can you lose for $25.00" and be a part of my team, let me inspire you and let me help you reach your personal goals….
I can remember the day I talked to Mary Fish and I told her that I simply wanted to do this for ME….and she said -" GREAT…..over 80% of SUD are hobbyist and I love hobbyist as they have the creativity, the excitement, the passion and energy"…..I still consider myself a hobbyist but I will say – I do realize the potential with the endless fun I am having!!!!
Having FUN is the name of the game…I cherish my cyber friends that I have met and I continue to look forward in building more friendships! You all are great!
Come join the ride with me….you know it will be an inspirational one! Email me…let's talk!
Until tomorrow!
