WOW…it is here…FINALLY ~ the day that the new catalog goes live and I am sure that many of you are as excited as I am with it but we need to get down to Thursday business…a Pals Paper Art Challenge and this week we have a sketch to work with and this one is right up my alley, allowing my style and love of clean & simple to shine through!
Fellow PAL, Patti MacLeith provided us a super fun sketch that is in my mind, a keeper so if I were you….I would save this for future projects! I just love when you can add smaller stamps into an area – so clean and fun!

Here is a tip that will really, really help you! The white piece is 5″ X 3 3/4″…why” I like to make the vertical side an even number that I can easily divide (remember, I am Silly Susan) and trust me, it is easy to find 2 1/2″ and then use this as your start point to center the square. Then it is super easy to do the top and bottom!
I love the layering framelits. I admit, when they first came out I was not as excited because the old ones did the trick for me but I will now say that they are super easy to use and make frames, like I did below in the garden green ~ to me…it is a fun and easy finishing touch!

The DSP that I used today is a new kid on the block, Presents & Pinecones! It is fun and fresh and I have the colors listed below that coordinates with it. It is Cherry Cobbler, in the picture it looks rather like “coral” to me….This print is on the flip side of the little stars!

You know me…I could not resist…envelope love is one of my all time favorites and all it takes is just a couple of extra steps but it is WELL WORTH IT! I know that when I send a card to someone with a FUN envelope…they ALWAYS comment on it – it does make a difference. Look at it this way…
It is the little extra touches in life that make you smile…and a fun envelope makes me smile!

NOW TO THE CATALOG….WOOT – WOOT…
You can click right on it and start seeing and have fun! I will be back a bit later today with another post about the new catalog! I do hope that you POP over to the Pals Paper Site to see what the other super talented designers came up with! Talent galore!
See you in a bit with Post #2 for the day….have fun!

by Susan Itell | Aug 31, 2016 | Super Easy, Washi Tape Card Ideas |

Happy hump day! I am starting to like the idea of “Wing it” Wednesday’s – it’s kind of fun to just do something totally different and I know last week you all liked the post on Washi Tape so I hope that you will enjoy this one as well!
The reality is…we buy this WASHI TAPE and true it is super pretty, fun and festive ….but then I hear – I have all of this Washi Tape…what do I do with it? EASY – USE IT UP!!! Using the washi and then a thinlit is a fun way to use it!
It is as simple as laying it down on scraps and going to town! 🙂

This bundle and YEP (for sure) I would purchase it as a bundle as the details are amazing ~ is called Santa’s Sleigh. I think that Stampin’ Up! did a fantastic job with this bundle as it can lend itself to classic or a modern flair…just have FUN with the colors which will help set the tone for your project! (I predict that this is one that will be flying out the door)

I know that it appears to use a bunch of Washi Tape and it did (because of the envelop) but to do the tree…it does not use much at all! You can see how simple it is to place the tape on a piece of paper…..go to the Big Shot, PRESTO – cut the tree out!
Do you remember back at Easter when I made (3) different Washi Tape Cards? – CLICK HERE – SAME CONCEPT….This is a super fun technique to do with children or even the elderly as it is easy to tear, to place down, to remove if needed etc….

I hindsight I could have used the sentiment that is in this bundle but I chose to use the Better Together Stamp Set….I just simply cannot get enough of this stamp set as it is just one super versatile one that fits many occasions…great little images, great small stamps (I love them to add here and there)

The holidays seem to bring out the BLING in many of our projects, that’s why I added the BLING in my Product Share (Share #2 with the foil and glimmer)…this little gold touch of the star as well as on the envelope makes is super festive. This is one card that looks soooo much better than it does in the pictures!

Here is the 411 – Directory Assistance picture for you to pin! I encourage you to try to use washi tape and framelits! It really is a fun way to add a different twist to your project. I think that we have a great new selection of FUN washi tapes in the new catalog…just think how cute it would be to use ornaments – Fast, Fun & DONE!

Tomorrow is just about here – YIPPEE, September 1st….the day that you all can order from the new Holiday Catalog. I am excited as I know that there are going to be LOTS of fun projects being made by you!
Yesterday I sent out the remainder of the Invoices for the Product Share. If you did not receive one and you thought that you had ordered a share, please email me. If you are interested in participating in the share, please email me your share order.
I will be offering it again but it will not be until the 3rd week of September! This is going to be a FUN and BUSY month so if you want in….I would hop on it today! I have been working on my order and I will be like Cinderalla as I know you all are just as anxious to receive your shares!
You can find all of the scoop of the shares above in the drop down box or click here – Just to clarify share #2 – you will get 1/2 sheets of all of the new papers and also 1/2 sheets of the “glitz & glim” as I like to call it….more specifically the foils and glimmer papers! I thought that it would be fun to offer these for the holiday!
Until tomorrow…make the LAST DAY of AUGUST a fun one….do something to make you smile!
p.s. – I had a text yesterday very early from Catherine Ann….her son rested well and is continuing to improve and even though he is in a great deal of pain and discomfort she said his eyes were smiling!!!!! Hopefully by now they have him off the ventilator…..keep praying….it’s working!

Good Tuesday to all! Today’s post has some tips for mailing and I think that you will walk away with a good “nugget” that hopefully you will find useful. You know that I love to share things that work for me but at the same time I hope you know that it is ALWAYS a work on progress!
These tips might work for me TODAY…and then YOU will share with me something that is even better or should I say, “works for me” (remember….we all see things differently) and guess what? THAT IS OK!!! 🙂 At the end of the post I will fill you in with the surgery yesterday!
We all know that there are times that we just cannot help ourselves and that we have fun adding embellishments and thickness to our cards, (and also SQUARE CARDS) that require extra postage! Here are some tips that I hope you find useful!
Confession time….I do try to play a game with myself to make cards that will mail with a regular stamp and I have also found that going to the same post office and I am fortunate enough to see either “Trish or Cathy” ~ they know there are times that I am “pushing the limit” but then I give them a funny look and say, “Can you PLEASE hand stamp this?”
By having your cards hand stamped, they will not go through the machine and get all messed up! I have heard from many of you that your post master will not do that….I do not know what to say but try baking them cookies…..it goes a long way! 🙂 I am in my post office quite often and I can tell when it is time to “sweeten them up” and yep, cookies….muffins work!
First, I like to purchase these envelope from Amazon. They are lifesavers and if you do not think that you can use 50 of them, split them with a friend. I think that you will be amazed at how handy they come. Yesterday’s card….the shaker one – I did not make an envelope and I just slid it in one of these envelopes with a goodie for Catherine Ann to read and POOF – works like a charm!
The are “ok” quality but for the price – you cannot beat it. 50 for $11.00 – GREAT DEAL! The are 6″ X 10″ and it you have something smaller that you do not want to roll around, simply fold over the end to make it smaller, seal – add extra tape and off to the post office!

If you have a card that YOU KNOW needs extra postage ….using one of these will be a huge protector and in the long run., it is just a wee bit more to mail than the extra postage and you know that it will some safe and sound and in perfect condition because of the padding. I think that they work out to be .22 a piece!
Here is another GREAT idea…wow let’s look at this gem. I say BRILLIANT as this was made by downline, Nancy Farrell. I am sure she will chime in on the comments and lat us know how many she makes but my guess……she makes a bunch, has them cut and ready to go when needed!
I love the font she used and the little added touches of hearts…the year….her initials – FUN!

Lastly, this is one that I think the message is a KEEPER! You can see how Donna stamped off in the background an image and then has this amazing, uplifting message that would surely brighten someones day!
I think that we all will remember this about “HANDMADE” – you know how I feel about Handmade/Homemade….Gifts from the heart ALWAYS win in my eye….priceless!
HANDMADE
Hoping A Note Does Make A Difference Everyday

Simple things just make that special difference. I just love this tips and tricks like these and I hope that they turned a lightbulb on for you!
Here is an update on my friends son. He did not get out of surgery until 2:30 (started at 7) and in a nutshell, he is doing great – the doctors feel like it was successful but the next 24 hours will be critical. He is on a ventilator which is normal for that surgery and his beautiful Mom send me a text around 7 last night saying that she had the chance to see him and he did a “fist bump” with his brothers and mouthed I love you to his parents!
Now if that doesn’t make your day…I do not know what would! He is soooooo lucky as he is a super athletic and active young man ~ lacrosse and baseball and thank goodness something was picked up at a physical for school, they thought is was a heart murmur but it was a bunch more! God is GREAT and there have been a powerful group of people praying for this family!
Here is a quote for you today…..anther keeper in my eyes!

We are ALMOST at the end of the month…..lots to still take advantage of…remember the Thoughtful; Branches Bundle will be leaving tomorrow….it is a beauty and then up on top of my post, you will see the product share offerings, the Paw Print card offering….FUN!!!!!

by Susan Itell | Aug 29, 2016 | Shaker Cards, Thinking of you, Uncategorized |

Today is the day that my friends son is having his surgery, please keep him and the family in your thoughts. Today I have a fun shaker card that I made for my friend! I am trying to stock pile several different types of card to brighten their day!
The card was made with the Sweet & Sassy Heart Framelits as the base for my shaker! Because they are all graduated sizes, it is easy to do! You can see in the below picture the “makings of the shaker” (sorry for the icky picture but it will give you the idea)

The “key element” that makes it easy is using the foam adhesive stripes. Here is a great tip!!!! ~ peel off both sides of the strips as it makes it super easy to bend around and adhere to whatever base you are using. I should have used one long strip and worked around…this IS the easiest wat to do it as when you start cutting into little pieces, it just makes it harder!

Here is another tip! To prevent your shaker elements from sticking to the sides and the top of the window sheet….take either the stampin’ buddy or a swifter cloth ~ this really help with the sticking and the static.
I used the beautiful sentiment from the Thoughtful Branches Bundle (love this font) for the message inside the heart! I thought that it was appropriate to add little hearts (from the hearts border punch) and I also threw in some sequins…
The over all size of the card is a 4 1/2″ square card. The strip of the GORGEOUS DSP is 1 1/2″ X 4 1/2″ and then a 1/4″ strip of the Daffodil Delight!

Now to the flowers on the Mint Macaron Base. They are from the Love & Affection Stamp Set and I used Versamark to stamp. Remember, I have blogged before that this is a great way to add an accent. You just need to play with the paper as sometimes it works better using the same color of ink and then there are times that the versamark works better. I love the effect it gives!
That is about it….have you tried to make a shaker card? If not, how about giving it a try! It is like all things we do…if we have the right tools/products, it works…it is as simple as that!

Please feel free to reach out to me if you need help with a shaker card or even any card. I often have people email me a picture of a card they have seen on the internet and they say, “How did they do that?” Trust me, I do not have all of the answers but if I can help, it is my pleasure!
I know that Catherine Ann will love this card. I can see her just want to look at it and then she will shake, shake, shake…and then flash that beautiful smile she has.

Now to the weekend post….I adore the comments but I must say, my pick was Sunday’s card. I do love Crumb cake for the holidays…and i think that when you see the DSP paper stack, you will see why! I will say that this card is in the running for a holiday card from my family!
This is the home stretch…this week is special! The end of the month…and the UNVEILING or should I say….purchasing from the NEW HOLIDAY CATALOG!!!! YIPPEE!!!!!
Have a great day, we all have so much to be thankful for….please remember my friends and I hope that this quotes touches you! There truly is power in kindness, love, belief and prayers!
