Good Morning…first I need to say that it is SUPER fun for me to do these posts and trust me, this is a 2 cup of coffee/tea post….I have a TON of pictures for you and I hope that they will shed some insight and light for you, but please remember that you can email me if you have further questions!
Before we get going… – Happy Valentines Day to you! I hope that you can make someones day….if it is a simple phone call…a quick visit – whatever you can do…there are so many that needs a “I’m thinking of you”! I have some of my favorite soft and chewy ginger cookies ready with a simple Valentine Message to go to people that touch my life!
You all know the drill….so below you can see….SIDE by SIDE…you decide!
I have to say….I go for today’s post….it is soooo much fun to create and using the STICK IT makes it a cinch! I am all about making things “do-able” and “fun” – and this product makes both of my wishes come to life! Trust me on this one….it looks hard but it is not – I had so much fun making a bunch of cards….
Here you go with a PARADE of pictures and I think that you will make you smile…this technique makes you excited to step out of your comfort zone and try something different. You know that I am a super simple card maker…but this technique is fun and rewarding….and then you will smile, trust me, it will happen!
Go ahead and cut out MANY different roses – I hope that you can see that you can mix, match and make YOUR own flower! This Stick It Product is just a DREAM to work with….You will be amazed at how little you use, (actually just the size of the die you are cutting out) so there is little waste and a pack will lost you a long time. CLICK HERE to see it from Amazon.… you can move it around to get it in the perfect spot and then give it a good press and BAM….it is stuck!
Look in the below photo that these pieces fit in perfectly….it truly is a FUN and rewarding process that is well worth the time! I say, turn up the music and do a HAPPY DANCE! Have fun mixing up colors….that is the FUN part!
The recent rage has been the coloring books that are all over the place…I know that I bought some for the peeps at Christmas and actually on my girls weekend away all 15 of us received a super fun coloring book and colored pencils….we sat there all afternoon (probably 6+ hours) just coloring away and talking and laughing….this technique is the same feeling you get….it is fun…and when you are done….you say – WOW – DID I DO THAT?
Well…what so you think – yesterdays or today’s!I do not think that you could go wrong with either one!! Would you like to see a video of it!?!?! It really is super easy with a huge WOW factor!
Look at all of the cards that I made with the different sentiments from this bundle! This is a special bundle and I think that Stampin Up! did a fantastic job with the details of the stamps and the dies!
What card did I give for John’s parents…..TODAY’S card….for sure as it is super special….just like they are! To me it is just that little extra “added touch and time” that is so worth it. Here is a picture of the bundle again and I have a “FUNNY” for you!
This is a good lesson. I know that many of you do not like the fact that the photopolymer stamps stain…..well the staining is perfectly normal….and many time for me I LOVE that as I can find the stamps easily. I had pulled out all of the different sentiments that you can see above and you can see that I did not use the “thank you” – well…..the reason was that I had never used it before and because it was clear it stuck to something in my work area and I could not find it……
I was sad as it was driving me NUTS and after pouting and tearing everything up I found it….STUCK TO MY COMPUTER…..so the moral of the story is a stained stamp is GREAT because you can SPOT IT quickly…..
Do you remember yesterday that I shared with you that there are times that it is hard to find a DSP for a liner when you are using Very Vanilla? Pretty Petals to the rescue…..this is that FABULOUS paper stack that it is the annual catalog…and I think that it works great with this card. I actually used this liner for all of the cards that you saw in the above picture…..it is a great feeling to have cards ready to go!
The other accent that I did today was the enamel dots…these are adorable! I love the colors that they are in and I would be super happy if Stampin’ Up! continued to add more colors to the line. A quick and simple accent that makes a statement!
Have a fabulous day….what are we doing today? John is in high gear with tax season…..so while he is at the office I am going to cook up a storm and have a special dinner for us! I am going to be working on some videos for you …darn, it would be sooo much easier if we all could be together and have a big class!!!! That would be a blast!
It is a great thought but I hope that through my posts you can see yourself creating projects that I showcase. Please do not hesitate to email me if you need further help with a project….we can email, talk or even skype if you want! Below you will see the products used and treat yourself this Valentines Day…..go shopping!
You probably have had to have 2 cups of coffee with this long post (sorry!) so keep on going…shop away and have your goodies come to your door! Happy Valentine’s Day to you!
HERE IS THE RECIPE!!!! Enjoy and please let me know if you have a hard time finding that Molasses….here is a picture of it – I always use the “Orange” label as in the picture….there are (2) different ones and this one is much better. I have tried other molasses and they just do not come out as good – let me know if you need help finding it…it should be around $3.00

Good morning Susan,
Beautiful card as always. Would you share your ginger cookie recipe? I love to bake and would love to add to my recipe collection! Thanks 🙂
Mary
Hi Mary….YOU BET I will. Let me go get another cup of coffee and I will come up and type it up and add it to the end of the post. I have actually had others ask for it as this recipe is the BEST as it “travels well”….I cannot tell you how many of these gems I have made and they are a hit with many. My Vet calls them “Ginger Gems” and every time I need to take a horse to the Vets, I always make a batch for the office! Be back in a bit.
AWESOME CARD and yes, my pick is today’s version – It is gorgeous! Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your family! I am sure you will be serving up a delicious and lovely meal!
Gorgeous card! Love how you placed the colors in the “puzzle.” Great idea. My daughter (a therapist) brings over coloring books and we always color…so relaxing. Your ginger cookies are so delish and are perfect when taking a break from crafting! Happy heart day ?
Fabulous card Susan and such a great post as to how you knocked them out of the park! Good job. I too would love your recipe for those “Ginger Gems”, they were heavenly and greatly appreciated. Wishing you and yours a very Happy Valentine’s Day…what time is dinner?
Well of course now I have to buy this bundle! I was so on the fence with this set. Not much of a Rose fan even though that’s part of my name! Lol You always come up,with such beautiful ways to use these sets. Thank you for that and all of your wonderful stories and your wonderful pets. We are a rescue house here as well. Love my animals!
Happy Valentines Day–sending love and thanks to you for your daily posts and smiles. Would love to see a video of this technique and to see the packaging for the Stick It product.
Absolutely beautiful! I wasn’t going to get this set, but you changed my mind. I also would love the ginger cookie recipe. They were the best!
I would love to see a video of this card.
Susan,
This looks like fun. Would love a video of it.
Beautiful, as always, Susan! I love today’s version with the two colors. I read about the Stick it product a few days ago on Jennifer McGuire’s blog and now with yours – my order is in! I can’t wait to give it a try. And those Ginger Gems? Yes, please! Have a sweet day!
My vote is for today’s card too as it made me say “WOW” when I opened up your blog. I love an extra layer of color and candy dots add a lot for a little. I will be back for today’s “ginger gem” recipe too. They were awesome. Karen warmed hers up in the microwave for a second. Mine didn’t even make it to the kitchen 🙂 Thanks for all the pictures in today’s post. They really helped me, but I would still like to see a video too. If you ever plan a big class, pretty sure your 3 stamping amigos would make it a road trip. Have a good Valentine’s Day.
Sunday’s card is a “WOWZER” – and thank you for showing us how to make it !
Susan, a wonderful post, and I just ordered “Stick It”! The flowers are simple and sweet.
To think I thought I touched your life by bringing a smile to your face and heart. Alas, no cookies in my mail box. But, I have had those wonderful cookies and the recipe would totally make my heart sing! They are the perfect wowzer to this card which is one big wowzer of a card! I really liked yesterday’s version but today’s is basically no comparison! Amazing is a good descriptive word! From the mating to the two colors of the leaves and petals to my beloved candy or enamel dots – this card gets my vote! The liner to the envelope is equally as pretty though you can’t go wrong with the embossing either.
We are in the midst of a blanket of snow with more coming down. Poor Ted went to go pottie and had to trample the snow down in one spot in order to go as it was up to his shoulders!. I hope he doesn’t get the little virus or whatever was wrong yesterday, we don’t have a fenced in yard so I have to go out with him. I bet I looked cute with my boots, nightgown, coat and goofy hat. At least we were in the backyard. Frieda’s dad (Teddy’s BFF the Burmese Mountain Dog) just did one swing down on our sidewalk with his snowblower. Happy Valentine’s Day to us!
Oh I gotta share this. As I was typing this I could see movement out of the corner of my eye. There was a big fat squirrel out on a branch – clear out on the very tiny end and he kept slipping. So, I stopped to watch. Just as I did the spindly branch broke off with the weight of the squirrel and the heavy wet snow and both went down! I am sitting on the 2nd story level and he was a good 10 feet higher than me! Anyway, hit the ground, shook it off and went back up the tree and now is shaking his tail and chattering at the place the tiny limb was at. I have no idea what was so good about that tiny limb if you even could call it a limb!
Enough for now, Happy Valentine’s Day and President’s Day tomorrow. Mike has tomorrow off but I have to go in to work for my 3.5 hours. I will eagerly await the recipe for those wonderful cookies and the video later this week about making this rose. What I can tell we are left with outlines of the flower so you could paper piece into the negative image or stamp the petals or even more fun color in the petals? Interesting ideals.
Hi Susan, I love today’s card. I have a question though. What is Stick It? And where do you apply it on the cardstock. I have seen a lot of cards done by taking pieces and putting them back in, but wondered how you could keep them together after you have cut them out. Today’s card is absolutely beautiful!!
Absolutely beautiful! Your card today is sooo stunning. I’ve not been much of of fan of this set, but now I’m thinking about putting it on my wish list. Both cards are wonderful and today’s card inches ahead of yesterday’s card but only by a little.
Thanks for the cookie recipe. I’ve been going to ask you for the recipe, but hadn’t gotten to it. They ARE yummy!!
Have a great day!??
Beautiful card, Susan! Love it so much that I will be ordering this set after all. Thanks for the Stick It recommendation too. I know it is a lot of work to post each day but it’s one that I always look forward to receiving and reading each and every day! For that I thank you. You always start my morning with much happiness and joy!
Oh swoon, this is almost as good as getting the cookies themselves! Remember I said ALMOST! Just kidding, well actually not! I have three jars of a different brand and will try them first as they are what I use to make my gingerbread muffins and something else. If not the same – I will get the other. I really was going to make several batches of my mini muffins during the holidays but it just didn’t happen. One jar was for some sauce Mike thought he was going to make but never did for his ribs. He has been working on the rub for them. Whatever….I am betting the amount of flour has something to do with the wonderful consistency to yours where my cookie recipe had only 2 1/2 cups of flour and one stick of margarine. Mine were crunchy and didn’t mail well at all. I will try the Crisco sticks since I have to get more sugar anyway. I hope the oven cooperates – I tried a new recipe the other day – white chocolate chip cranberry pecan ones. Right on the recipe it said do not grease pan – well, the first ones stuck on and burnt around the edges. The 2nd pan I baked less time still burned but at least the PAM helped them not stick. The third with the four cookies on them turned out o.k. but believe me I shredded that darn recipe. What a waste of time and ingredients! Besides, I had made little treat bags to hold them for people at the office.
I ended up using the Paper Pumpkin kit from last year and made them. I used the YUM stamp since several guys were getting them and I didn’t think they would like LOVE or something goofy on there. Then, I ran to the Dollar General and bought candy for them. They went over super well.
One of the part time guys is originally from the Philippines as is his wife. Anyway, I told him to pick one of the treat holders since they had different patterned labels. He asked what the occasion was and I told him Valentine’s Day! He got a little teary eyed and said nobody ever gave him a Valentine before, He said that is why he became an American citizen because of the generosity of people like me! He ate one of the pieces of chocolate and asked if he could take the rest home to share with his wife and son. He couldn’t believe he could have the little treat bag too. Vicky had to tell him she had a whole collection of my treat bags and cards through the years. Wasn’t that great or what?
Thanks for the recipe!
Thanks for the recipe Susan and all of the details. I really appreciate it 🙂
Mary
Love both cards, but my favorite is today’s card. Thanks for your tips on how to get the pieces to fit in. I’m ordering some Stick It, which really looks great for these “puzzle” pieces. I found a tip the other day about using Glad Press N Seal to keep flowers, etc. in place. After arranging the items, place Press N Seal over to hold them in place while applying adhesive on the back. So between these two products, a perfect world comes together. I’m going to have to buy this bundle.
Those ginger cookies sound yum!!! I’ll be the contrary one that says I’m not keen on the stepped up version. Then again I already shared with you my feelings about roses. Yes, I’m the very contrary one!
We had a very lovely non-rose filled Valentine’s Day and hope you did too!
I like Sundays combination the best. I am confused about stick it I have never heard of it? Do you plan on making a video? I just may have to cave in and buy this set.
Thanks so much for the “stick it” idea and your wonderful video. I used this die cut (lg rose) for my best friend’s BD card and glue the individual pieces, nearly drove me crazy!! I’ll definitely give the puzzle technique another go after your inspirational post.
Great tip, Susan. The card you “stepped up” is really beautiful!
