Papillion Potpourri will bring smiles to many!

IMG_2028

Simple, sweet, clean and crisp! This is my kinda card and I am super excited to share with you this week some of the cards that I will be making for Breast Cancer Patients in my area to pick them up and let them know others care! It is called the "Angel Program", more specifically a program that sends cards and inspirational notes on a weekly basis to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients!

This Wednesday is my first day and I will be making 15 cards of 6 different designs and today's post is one of them! I know 1st hand how important, special, a HUGE pick me up cards mean to people when they are ill.

I lost my Mom to pancreatic cancer and her 4 shorts months of being the Mom and knew and loved, to losing her to this terrible disease I witnessed 1st hand how simple gestures like sending a card makes such a difference! Over this short time frame she received over 400 cards…she loved her cards and I still have them in my home in a special bowl and often I go and read them to give me inspiration! This is a huge reason I am a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. I knew that I wanted to give back…and I am excited to do so for our local Breast Cancer Organization!

Now to today's card…isn't it clean and cute! This butterfly stamp set, Papillion Potpourri,  has been sooooo popular with Stampin up! I thought this would be a fun pick-me-up and the Curly Cute sentiments is super fun….getting the perfect alignment was made perfect by my dear friend, Stamp-a-ma-jig…just love that plastic!

IMG_2030

I stamped the butterfly's one Very Vanilla and the popped them out with the Bitty Butterfly Punch ! I used the 1 1/4" Square Punch to use as a backdrop to my butterfly's and then adhered them to the coordinating paper using the Scallop Square Punch! Naturally I popped them up with a couple of Stampin' Vitamin, Stampin' Dimensionals!

The Raspberry Ripple Stitched Satin Ribbon gave the card a bit of interest as well as the famous knot – adhered with a simple glue dot…really brings the WOW factor to life! It would be a card of mine without lining the envelope – polka dots make me smile and I know that my Mom is smiling…as she loved lined cards and  I know that these beautiful and courageous patients will smile with an "Angel" sending them a card with a special message!

I love and appreciate your comments and emails…until tomorrow – make it a great week! I love what I do but more importantly…I love helping you!

Happy Easter with the Spring Sampler!

IMG_2024

Happy Easter to all! Have you ever started a project to have it not work out the way you wanted it to…but then you looked at it and said to yourself – " it's really not that bad and what could I do to tweek it ?" Well this is what happened to me with this card and I must say – I think it's kinda fun!

The stamps sets that I used were the Spring Sampler and the Delightful Dozen Stamp Set! I knew that I had to use the Stamp-a-ma-jig as this would be only way that I could get my eggs straight! Who would have ever thought that these 2 simple pieces of plastic would ever be the lifesaver it is in making cards – definitely an "A list" product!

Spring Sampler Clear-Mount Stamp Set

I love this Spring Sampler set…it is so versatile and I love using simple and clean shapes like a square punch – and these stamps are the perfect options for making quick and easy projects! After I stamped the eggs I thought it would be a cute touch to work the words of "happy easter" in between the rows! Mission accomplished with the help of the Stamp-a-ma-jig once again!

IMG_2021

After doing this…I looked at it and saw way too many white spots for my liking! Out came some ribbon, the new melon mambo striped organdy ribbon to do my classic and trademark knots ( remember – I am bow challenged and I actually like the looks of knots!!!) I attached the knots with a simple glue dot and BAM – done!

IMG_2023

I loved the look, feel and effect it gave to the card! For some reason it reminds me of a madras pattern! The liner also is a trump card for the finale of this card! This fun print was from Sunshine and Sprinkles Designer Series Paper! After adding the body of the card on top of a piece of Melon Mambo to make it pop off of the white…. I POPPED it with Stampin Dimensionals! I call them my card making vitamins!

I hope you have enjoyed today's posting on this special day of Easter! Have a fabulous day and as always….I am an email away and I love your comments! Thank you…..

Jelly Beans…How Many!

IMG_1934

This post is a different one but I just had to share it with you! If you have just "HOPPED" onto my blog from my wonderful uplines blog…than welcome!!! Mary Fish has showcased an unbelievable Easter Parade of talent that is sure to inspire you!

Below you will see my carrot from a post I did earlier this week!

IMG_1896

Today I am helping out with an Easter Egg Hunt for little ones and I needed to do a couple of "fun and busy" ideas to keep them from getting into trouble…is this an old classic or what!!! How many jelly beans in the jar?!?!

Classic are always the best…and what is anymore  classic than a good old "Mason Jar" – all I did was jazz it up a bit using some Stampin' Up goodies!!! I think it is fun and fresh and really showcases the jelly beans!

IMG_1936

You can see how little touches and literally 5 minutes made this plain jar go from "boring to WOW"!!! I used the 3" Die circle for the top of the jar and do you remember this fun paper??? It is from the Howlstooth and Scaringbone Designer Paper (from the holiday catalog)! See…it is not just for Halloween…right!!!

Around the jars lid I used the simple Natural Trim Ribbon that is featured int he Spring Catalog, super easy to work with and I love the natural, soft and classic touch it gives! Around the rim of the jar – I tied a simple piece of Very Vanilla Seam Binding ribbon ( again – super simple to work with) and then threaded a big button – put a couple of pieces of a very thin sheer Calypso Coral ribbon – knotted it – done!! BAM – that's it…..and how cute!!! I took scissors and curled the ribbon just like you would do the tails for a balloon! Doesn't this bring a smile to your face!

IMG_1937

I love what I do and I hope that it shows through my blogging! I would have never imagined than less than a year ago that I have been able to grow so much through the wonderful exposure of Stampin' Up! I am a true hobbiest and became a demonstrator to "support my habit" and to be a part of Mary Fish's Pals group! I do work full time and I love the "cyber friends" that I have made through the PALS!!!!

Do you realize that over 80% of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators are hobbiest like myself!

A special day…Hannah turns 19!

IMG_1908

19 years ago today I was blessed with a beautiful daughter! Happy Birthday Hannah – you are a beautiful, independent, confident young women with a great future ahead! Your Dad and I are so very proud of you and you never seize to amaze us!

Another reason why this day is so special is it would have been my Mom's 81st Birthday! It seems weird and empty not to be able to celebrate this special day together and we all miss her so…having Hannah born on her special day was a true gift…something that I feel was a message – 2 amazing women being able to have shared the same day of birth! So special!

Onto my card as I think this is pretty special all in itself! I was first inspired by a design that was actually on the Stampin Up website in an "ad" – you can get some great ideas in looking at our website and even looking at the catalog!

Clean, crisp and simple! Love everything about it! The stamp set and embossing folder both came from Sale-a-bration ( I sure hope you were able to take advantage of these goodies)

True confession of a stamper….I first stamped the image with early espresso and didn't think I needed the Stamp-a-ma-jig….MISTAKE – it was off centered!

Needless to say I was bummed but I did a "Susan fix" – a trick that I always used to do when I scrap-booked a lot! When you make a mistake – no biggie….just stamp the image on a piece of paper….freehand cut it – mat it on a coordinating piece of card stock and WHAM….done!

IMG_1906

The printed paper came form the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper – another product in my "A list" to have…fun…FUN prints that will bring a smile to your face!

I wanted to make a "tag" look to the body of the card so after doing a quick snip-snip to the upper corners and then punching a hole….putting a piece of gumball green satin stitched ribbon.

IMG_1907

The bingo finale was the Madison Avenue flower popped out and then a simple button popped on with a glue dot after being tied off with a piece of "Bakers Twine"

I think this is a great card and the sentiment is the perfect message for my Hannah!I would love to see Stampin' Up come out with this stamp in a single one…wouldn't you? Sentiments can really set the tone for your card projects!

Hannah…your Dad and I wish you many more years of health, happiness, fun and laughter and may we always keep Gi-Gi in our heart on her special day as well!

Until tomorrow…make it a great day and it is a special Easter Weekend! Let's hope the weather is great! Even if it is not sunny where you live…find some inner sunshine to bring you joy!

Spec-tacular Single Stamp is Spectacular!

IMG_1912

It is PALS Paper Art Challenge time and I am sneaking it in by the wire! I am happy with the end result and I must say – I love these single stamps that Stampin' Up! has been offering (fingers crossed that they will keep on doing them!!!

Here is the challenge that our own PALS Artist and Demonstrator, Margaret Moody, came up with! Please go to the website and play along with us! It is fun and lets you step out of your box and this is what I did! Here is the sketch!

PPA155w-frame

The single stamp that is the center stage is the fun, fresh and ultra retro stamp of Spec-Tacular! It holds a special wow for me as I love Ray-Bans…good old' fashion classics!

Spec-Tacular Clear-Mount Stamp Set

Remember that I am "new to this Stampin' Up game" and I am just following the rules ( guidelines as sampled) and being a "good girl" I looked at the sketch and just "went with it!" Give me a couple of more months and I will step out of the box and be more creative!

IMG_1915

I made this card a strange size…..why? – I guess it just like I like to change things up a bit but have no worries….being able to make your own envelope is easy-peasy and a fellow PAL, Mike Funke has the PERFECT video that I go to weekly! He is one talented man that I absolutely love to follow! What an inspiration! Please go and check it out!

IMG_1914

A big helper again for me was the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig , my friend and lifesaver! It helped me place exactly where I wanted my sentiment from the Sweet Essentials Stamp Set. I this another on my "A list" – just love the simplicity of the sentiments!

The colors that brought this fun card to life were, Whisper White, Basic Grey, Black, Island Indigo, and the Neutrals Designer Series paper for both the card and the liner! Can you see is bit of sponging? Yep – I took the later of whisper white and ever so softly sponged the edges with the basic grey to give it a bit of depth!

IMG_1916

I am enjoying and finding it fun to do challenges and I hope that you fin this card fun! My dear hubby said….who would you say this to…I immediately thought of a dear friend of my daughters that is biting her nails waiting to hear back from colleges….I would easily send this to her letting her know what a special person she is…..and she is!!!! Let your mind go "out of the box" – just like I did today!

Until tomorrow…..I am an email away and I hope that you have a super-duper day…I'm going to!
