“Friendly Phases” are on a ROLL!!!

This is a super busy week for me and when I sat down to whip up a card….this little gem came together in a snap! It is using 2 different stamp sets…Friendly Phrases and the Fabulous Foliate Wheel Stamp….yes…I said Wheel Stamp but I made it into a stamp!

IMG_1542

Making "Wheels" into stamp is a quick and economical way to utilize great stamps! Before I became a SU Demonstrator I bought a couple of "wheel stamps"…they came and I looked at them and thought "Now…what the heck do I do with this!!!!" Remember….I am very simple and very challenged when things get too fru-fru for me! Then I remember watching a video from the wonderful Mary Fish and I thought….I can do that! Check out her video – she is an amazing paper crafter and a fabulous upline!

IMG_1539

I knew myself well enough that having a stamp would be much more useful than having it on a wheel…..(especially when I had no clue what to do with a wheel!!!!). I have since purchased just about every wheel and made them into stamps and now I use them often! The trick is to purchase the Clear-Mount Cling Foam…this is the magic ingredient to making your wheel and also wooden stamps come "portable" for you!

IMG_1546

Isn't that not only a beautiful but such an elegant and sophisticated stamp! I just love it! An how easy could that be to stamp….cut….layer on a color card stock and POOF – you're done! Now to the sentiment….I use this stamp set all the time – just love the fresh and fun sayings! Are these fun..practical…and just the "right sentiment" for soooo many occasions!

Friendly Phrases - Clear-Mount Stamp Set - by Stampin' Up!

The fun part was being able to use Mr. Big Shot….I have been ignoring him the past several days and I think he was getting a bit left out! The Labels Collection Framelits are the perfect size to frame this message – then using the next size larger…again POOF – I look like a genius and all I had to do was crank up dear Mr. Big Shot! Now do you really think I could poke those holes so perfectly even? No way, but once again, SU has a trick – called the Festive Paper Piercing Pack and the Paper Piercing Tool made me look really crafty and truthfully it is fun!!!

IMG_1545

Now you know me by now….dimensionals and a lined envelope are a must, and the International Bazaar Paper did the trick! SU has the most BEAUTIFUL paper….just look at this pack! As always, I am a click away and I truly hope that you and your friends sign up to get my daily blog postings! Upper right corner….right under the Catalog! I love what I do and I would love to have you as part of my SU family!

By the Tide Birthdays are special….

I wasn't sure how much I would use this stamp set…By the Tide, but I love it – especially for a masculine Birthday Card! But the show stopper to me is the lining of the envelope!

IMG_1529

Yesterday was my Dad's 82nd birthday and I did not want to share it ( on the 18th) as he does check my blog ( well at least he says he does) but he is in sunny Key West so I thought this would be a handsome, masculine and special card to let him know how very special he is!

The rich colors of Night of Navy, Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla make this a card of depth! As you can tell in the close up….I stamped the "words stamp" in Sahara Sand and then the Ocean Corals are in Crumb Cake, then I lightly sponged the edge and the overall body of the card with Crumb Cake!

IMG_1533
The "Stamp-a-ma-jig" is the total save me tool for both lining up the "Happy Birthday" but also for the placement of the fish for both the card and the envelope! This sentiment comes form the Bring on the Cake Stamp Set, a perfect one for the perfect B-day message!

IMG_1532
I felt that I needed a bit of texture so I added the Crumb Cake Seam Binding Ribbon – my all time easy-peasy favorite as it is super easy to make bows and knots! Make sure you see all of the colors it comes in….a must have! Always remember – you can click away at the shopping button and your goodies will come straight to you!!!! How easy is that!

IMG_1534
Now to the fun part of this card….I lined the Crumb Cake Envelope with the Very Vanilla and then stamped the "fish" stamp onto the liner….is that CUTE or what!!!! Please let me know how you like this card and please feel free to email me at anytime…..

Madison Avenue plus 3!

IMG_1526

This is a great card…clean, simple, modern and I used 4 products from the super Sale-a-Bration Party that is going on!

The focal Stamp set is from the Madison Avenue Stamp Set and then enhanced with strolling down "Sycamore Street" with this modern designer paper….( Love the colors….so fun) and then the finishing touches come from the Pretty Petites Stamp Set ( and truly – you could change this sentiment out for one of the others and it would be perfect too!) but…..using the petite curly label makes is a cinch to make it quick and easy!

This is the type of card (layout design) that you could do over and over again just simply switching out the colors of paper and stamps and you would have a bingo-bango card! I used the 3" Circle Bigz Die and also the 2 3/8 Scallop Circle Punch and naturally using the Stampin' Trimmer makes this card a snap!

IMG_1528

I know that you are probably tired of hearing me say…..you need to have this trimmer…but you really do need to have this trimmer! It is the bomb! It cuts, it scores, it has compartments that you can put additional blades and it also has a place to put your bone folder! I think the best thing I love about it is it's exactness in cutting and being able to make very small and exact cuts! I have MANY cutters in my house…and this one is my definite go-to!

As always – a POP and a LINER are right in place for my style! Hope you like this clean and crisp card as much as I do! Please,  email me at anytime~I truly love to help you and inspire you cause'….I know you can so it and I would be honored to help you do it!

Oganizational tips for your paper!

Are you ORGANIZED?

To begin today – I found this quote and just loved it! I hope it touches you the way it did me! I think we all get frustrated when we are not organized and I found this to speak to me!

"When it comes to organizing a workspace, relaxation and comfort aren't
the primary goals. Work is about efficiency and productivity. … The
more neat and logically organized your workspace is, the better you will
be at your job."

Peter Walsh

This is something that we ALL struggle with and I find it to be very interesting that each of us have our own system of being organized! The best thing that I find is…there is no right or wrong way as each of us need to do what works for us! Today I wanted to share with you how I keep my SU Paper organized!

IMG_1483

There is nothing "prettier" than to see my "stampin' area" clean and tidy ( and trust me – that is not very often) but one area that totally sends me into a tissy is when I have paper and scraps here and there! I will say that having my paper in this system makes me use a lot less paper as I am using my scraps up more efficiently as before I would just pull out a new sheet and cut away! This is how I do it and boy is it simple!

I simply went through the catalog and typed out the names of each of the paper and printed them on Avery labels and POOF – done! I do keep them in the "family" as they are in the catalog as I just find that to be easier for me…ie – subtles…brights…in color etc….. I basically am making 3 different labels for each color

IMG_1481

  • smaller one for the tab -  ie….Daffodil Delight Brights then placed the label over the actual color of card stock!
  • larger label for the front of each hanging folder ( you could eliminate this one…but because I am doing it for the next step I just went ahead and did this)
  • larger label foe the hanging folder BEHIND my full sheet folder and I label this one ie….Daffodil Delight Scraps

IMG_1480

Hope this all makes sense and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions! I love to think that I am an organized person but many times I am challenged to find a system that works! Please remember, we all need to figure out what works for each of our workspaces. I also think a key element in keeping  paper organized is that I am able to keep these bins of paper out on a work table! Have a great day and until tomorrow……!!!!

Camouflage Guy…Happy 50th!

IMG_1521

I told you that this was going to be a busy week….3 birthdays, anniversary and of course Valentines! By now you know I am not a "fussy" stamper as I consider myself quite challenged when it comes to trying different techniques but I am super proud of this "camouflage" effect card – now this is WAY out of the box for me! Our dear friend Curt turned 50 on Valentine's Day and tonight we are going to a surprise 50th for him and being that he is a "Big Hunter" the theme of the party is "camo" and this is the PERFECT card! For once it will be great to not have to worry about what to wear…everyone is wearing camouflage!

I did a google search for a "Camouflage Birthday Card" and poof….one came up from a SU demonstrator, Karen Phillip. It was from a post back from 2010 – isn't the internet wonderful! I read the technique and thought to myself – I feel like I am reading a recipe…well I love to cook so I thought – "I'm going to try this"! I looks hard when you see all of the steps – but it was super fast and easy! Start with Very Vanilla Card Stock to make it all "inked" up….try this and have fun!

IMG_1522

I was seeing words like spritz with alcohol…scrunch up…spritz again and I started to laugh as I have never used the spritz tool once but you have to start somewhere! The stamp you can purchase as a single stamp called Woo Hoo! and I totally recommend using your bone folder to smooth out the paper after the poor little piece went through so much! If you ever need a guy card…here you go! Have fun and please let me know what you think of it!

Step 1:    Using ink pad, cover Very Vanilla card stock completely with Sahara Sand

Step 2:    Scrunch card stock between hands in both directions

Step 3:    Open card stock

Step 4:    Ink up paper with Always Artichoke ink pad. Leave some areas uncovered

Step 5:    Spritz with alcohol and scrunch lightly, open carefully

Step 6:    Ink over Always Artichoke ink pad

Step 7:    Ink over with Soft Suede ink pad

Step 8:    Spritz again lightly with rubbing alcohol

Step 9:    Turn card stock face done and run Bone Folder over the back of card stock

Step 10:   Allow to dry

Step 11:   If you feel you need more color, add what you need using either a sponge or ink pad.

Spritz again and allow to dry
