A “ton of fun” Birthday Card!

IMG_2828

I hope this card put a smile on your face as it sure does mine! I just love this stamp set, Zoo Babies!!! Not only is it fun…it can be used for soooo many differnt cards…not just for kids! An "A list" for sure! Remember my post the other day with the adorable alligator and I did one with the bird!!! This set is a keeper!

Zoo Babies

Using the new Smoky Slate Card Stock as my base…it is perfect as you can still write on it with a black pen and it is not hard to see! The Night of Navy was the choice to keep this a bit masculine and I wanted a bit of depth so out came the Big Shot and I ran it through with the Honeycomb Embossing Folder! Love the effect it gives!

Wanting to color in the balloons I used the Watercolor Paper and the Aqua Painters! I know you already know this but it is worth mentioning it again, if you are going to use the Aqua Painters, you need to use the Black Staz On Ink!

IMG_2826

Using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig for perfect placement I stamped the sentiment from the Four You Stamp Set ( love…LOVE it!!!) and then the Elephant and lastly the balloons form the Road to Happiness Stamp Set!

Four You

When stamping on the Watercolor Paper, make sure your ink pad has been inked up very well – this paper seems to really "take in" a lot of ink…just a head's up for a good coverage! I did stamp the Elephant again in the Night of Navy Ink and cut his little ear out and adhered him to give a bit of interest!

Before I adhered the Navy Embossed piece I took a piece of 7/16" Trim Ribbon and put a piece of sticky tape on the back of it and adhered it! ( I know….you are thinking this is a bit excessive..but I like the finished and professional look of a ribbon that does not move around!) Again, using the sticky strip I adhere this piece to the Smokey Slate Card base!

A simple " Susan knot" did the trick and I used the mini glue dots to keep it in place! Love these little guys…they make my life SUPER fast and easy! Voila…done!

Now to the envelope….I thought that since this is such a cute card…it deserves a matching envelope! They are soooo darn tootin' easy to make yourself..why not? Take a 7 3/4" square and score it with the Diagonal Scoring Plate at 4 1/8" on 2 sides and the other sides at 3 1/8" and snip the little pieces…do a quick fold and adhere with Sticky Strip….DONE!!!! ( well not quite yet….)

IMG_2825

Remember yesterday's post…I used the Night of Navy from the Regals Designer Series Paper and how convenient for me as I did not put away my papers…I used the flip side for the liner! Looks super-duper!

I hope that this posts encourages you to think out of the box and make your own matching envelopes! Why not? It is sooo easy and the finished look is wonderful!

I have been having so much fun with the new stamp sets! I hope that I am inspiring you to take a look at sets in a different way! Please remember, click here to order away from your home and that cute little "brown man" will show up at your door!!! Just love UPS!!!

Until tomorrow!!!

Tone on tone is FUN!

IMG_2715

In yesterday's post I shared with you that in looking at the Stampin' Up! Website, I was inspired by seeing a tone on tone card! This is something that I truthfully forget about doing but when I do it – I love the result!

I will give you "head's up" that it was super hard to get good pictures of this card…but by now you know me and my style…if I say I love it…than I really do love it! It is super cute and soooo much better in person – it is really hard getting a good image of the Pink Pirouette paper without it looking washed out!

( CLICK ON THE PICTURES TO MAKE THEM BIGGER…

it looks much better!!!)

There are several things I love about this card…I love that it is a square card – 5 X 5…why??? I really do not know – square cards make me feel like I am getting something special and this is exactly what I wanted my special niece to feel when she receives it as she is one special and beautiful girl!!!

Another thing I love is the color of Pink Pirouette and Basic Grey together….it always looks so fun and classic especially when you throw in White!

IMG_2709

Here you go…there are a couple of "must have" tools to make this card be a simple card to make…it really was and we all know how much smoother things go when you have what you need at your fingertips!

  • The base is Basic Grey cut 10 X 5 then scored in half for a 5" square!
  • Next the Whisper White is 4 3/4 square and then the pink a 4 1/2 square!
  • Out comes the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig – the MUST HAVE TOOL for being precise in card making! I 1st stamped the gift in the center…then the 2 outer….then the inner ones! SOOO  easy and the effect it gives is super-duper!
  • I wanted to continue to use another stamp from this stamp set, Best of Birthdays, LOVE – LOVE it!!! These gems each month are truly a "collectors item" for us…thank you Stampin' Up! for turning 25!!!
  • I haven't heat embossed for a long time and I thought…what the heck – this would be perfect…Stamping the image using the VersaMark Pad and then sprinkling the white embossing powder over it….a couple of "flicks" to remove any excess and then "fire up" the Heat Tool and watch the magic happen! SOOOO fun to watch it bubbly up and set!

IMG_2712

IMG_2710

  • Making your own custom envelope is so much fun! For this I took an 8 1/2" square and using the diagonal scoring plate…I scored each side at 3 7/8"…snipped the little pieces….a quick fold for a perfect envelope!
  • Now I had a piece left over ….so I added the polka dot "flip side" of the paper to jazz up the outer flap…I know it is another step – but it is sooo worth the end result!

I hope that you enjoyed  today's post – it is a special card!I hope that I have inspired you to CASE it as it is a fun card that we have many small stamps that you could do the same concept with!

I keep tracking my "NEW" order from the catalog and hoping that it gets bummed up…I can hardly wait to receive it! Please click here to order your goodies right from your own home…how easy and fun!

Thanks for popping by and until tomorrow……

Twirling “Wishes your way” for your birthday!

IMG_2396

O.k…I am really…really tickled with this card! I love spinner cards and the last one I did was for Halloween…so you can see how long that has been!

My Mother in Laws Birthday is this week and trying to be prepared for my sons graduation…I have been planing my posts in advance!

As we all know…Birthdays are special  and it deserves a special card! I have been trying to focus on stamp sets that are going "bye-bye"….WHY??? I really believe that we have so many great stamp sets that are being discontinued but are also very special!

I get asked…what are you going to do with your stamps?…well – simple, many of them I will sell, but there are some that I just love…and this one is one of them because I love the simplicity of it and then BANG it gives with this card!

IMG_2397
I was inspired by super Stampin Up! Demonstrator, Dawn Olchefske and her video….please check it out as it is great! There were a couple of things that I changed up to make it work for me and also some tips for you!

Enjoy and here are some of the detail for my card!

  • The colors of paper I used were, Rose Red for the base…daffodil delight and Watercolor Paper…why???
  • I used the Bordering on Romance Stamp Set, and knowing that I would use the aqua painter…I knew this would be the perfect choice!
  • Picking the colors from the Floral District Designer Series Paper, it was a super cute way to enhance this card!
  • TIP – 1st, the Pinwheel Sizzlets is the bargain….only $4.95 and look at the fun and WOW!!! When you go to put it all together…push the entire pinwheel onto your paper piercer…it makes it sooo much easier to adhere a brad to it!
  • TIP – When you use the Word Window Punch, I made a faint pencil make at 1/4" on the sides before I punch…not to make it too close ( it keeps it from tearing when you wiggle the penny part!)
  • TIP  – I stamped the sentiment from the Wishes Your Way Stamp Set, BELOW the pinwheel….this way it does not block the sweet message!
  • The liner was for the envelope was the same as the pinwheel to carry on the theme!
  • Extra Bling…I stamped the inside of the envelope as well as the outside of the envelope to make it even more special!
    IMG_2398
  • When you see Dawn in the video do the SHAKE-SHAKE-SHAKE!!!! Do it…it makes all the difference in the world! I did triple mount the 3 dimensions that she just did 2….I personally think it helps!

I just LOVE "interactive cards" and I found myself playing and playing with this one! Too cute…too simple…too easy…I truly hope that you case my card and also watch Dawns great video!

I am hoping that once I get help ( with having the college kids home) ….they will help me learn to do videos…it will be super hard to keep them timely as I love to talk!

The moral of today's post is…do not be afraid to order stamps that are being discontinued…..this is a decision that Stampin' Up! unfortunately has the super hard choice to make…but by all means – it does not mean that they are "loser" stamps….if you like them…THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS!

IMG_2399

Have a super day….please let me know how you like this….I wish you could see it spin….( trust me it is super cute!)

Until tomorrow…..

p.s. – please all keep your thoughts and prayers to the people in Oklahoma…so very tragic and sad.

Now this is a “Birthday Shoe”!!!

IMG_2348

For a Stamp Set that I was truthfully not crazy about…I have learned to LOVE the end result! Dapper Dad might be going "bye-bye" but is sure makes an impact here!

I have a friend that is an avid golfer and what better way to wish her special wishes than this cute card! I did a card similar several weeks ago but this time I gave it a feminine feel!

I know you like it when I give you dimensions so here you go! Please email me if you have any questions but I will say – this is a simple card that has a big WOW!!! Have fun  making it!

  • Card base a regular A-2 whisper white card stock with the center white piece cut at 4" X 2 1/2".
  • Next came the 3 color strips( each 1 1/2" X 4") in the colors Pistachio Pudding, Melon Mambo and So Saffron, then with the help of my Stampin' Man, Mr. Big Shot, he went to town with the Argyle Folder creating a fabulous texture to compliment the golf shoe!
  • Stampin Dimensionals went all over the back to the shoe to bring it to the fore front so the Argyle Folder can really shine!

  • IMG_2351
  • I thought a bit of "flowers" would be a great touch so out came the Boho Blossoms Punch ( I 1st squished the paper up then flatten it out before punching to give it a softer effect! THen as we know – Pearls are a girls best friend…they went centered stage on the flowers! Too darn cute!
  • The envelope had to make a statement and I thought a piece of fun polka dots from the Subtles Designer Series Paper would be the finishing finale to this special card! I love the look of a flap covered…so special!

IMG_2352

IMG_2246

You know the other day I said for you to close your eyes and sing a song…well here you go again, today's song is…"Where do I begin…" – there looks like there is a lot to this card but once I kept going…I kept liking it and at the end, I said – WOW…this is really different!

From yesterdays comments – you all liked me sharing some pointers….I'll try again!

  • Card Base is a 5" X 5" Square in Crumb Cake ( my favorite…so versatile!)
  • Midnight Muse 4 1/2" X 4 1/2" Square
  • Crumb Cake 4 1/4" X 4 1/4" Square ( I should have done this in Very Vanilla…but oh well!)
  • The Designer Paper is from the super beautiful Print Poetry Paper Series….so darn pretty ( I would definitely stock up on this one!)  – cut into 2" squares
  • Used Sticky Strip to adhere the squares perfectly
  • 3" Circle Originals Die, then used a ruler to measure in 1 1/2" and then cut into 1/4's – adhered like above.
  • Using the Create a Cupcake Stamp Set, I stamped the base of the cupcake in Soft Suede and then using a piece of very vanilla scraps – I ran it through "Mr. Big Shot" using the
  • Vintage Wallpaper Folder ( another one I would definitely purchase before it goes bye-bye!) and then used the Cupcake Builder Punch!
  • Snailed everything together and then POPPING the Midnight Muse base.
  • Used the white gel pen to add a little interest around the circle!

IMG_2248

Wow…I know that seems like a lot but it was really fun! Once you get the roll of it…ROLL with it! You know you'll make 2 cards as you'll have extra circle pieces…so just keep going!!!

  • The envelope…..easy-peasy! Start with a 8 1/2" Square and using the Simply Scored Diagonal Plate…score at 3 7/8" all the way around!
  • Cut the squares out on the edges and adhere – I always use sticky strip for this!!!
  • Jazzing up the out envelope was easy! Take the coordinating paper….flip it over…use a pencil and voila'! Cut in half and adhere! ( see 2 extra pieces….you really need to make 2 of these!)

I hope that you found this to be a fun and different card! I always love square cards! They bring a smile to my face and I know it costs extra to mail….but really! It is worth it! Please remember that shopping is a click away and I would love to help you!

“Happy Hour” for Tony’s Birthday!

Today's post is full-filling 2 things…a Pals Paper Art Challenge and a super masculine Birthday Card!

IMG_2218

What is the PALS Paper Art Challenge….it is a super fun way to stretch your imagination and play along with other people that share the same passion as you! So…what are you waiting for – go to www.palspaperart.com and join the fun! You do not need to be part of the PALS team to play….YOU can play – so go do it!!!

We all have certain friends that just make you laugh…just make you feel good…just make you wonder what they are going to say next…well – this pretty sums up my friend Tony Workman! Not only is he a friend, he is my daughters trainer(and you too Tom!!!) and has been there for us as she has achieved her goals riding horses!

This masculine, fun and classic Birthday Card for him sums it right up as he is one classic guy! By now you know that I love square cards…why? – easy…cause their different and they make you feel special! There just is something about holding a square card! Now I know a square card requires extra postage; now I ask you this…isn't the person you are sending a card to extra special? Just do it!

The Stamp Set I used for the focal part was from Happy Hour, thought of Tony immediately…We have share many "cheers" together and I just thought he would get a kick out of it! Trying to also work this card into the super sketch that the PPA team came up with – this card came together in about 10 seconds!

I knew that I wanted to use this designer paper…remember where it came from??? It is from the Halloween paper collection, Howlstooth & Scaringbone! The accent colors I chose were Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade and Very Vanilla as my neutral!

After stamping my image and sentiment ( and YES  – of course I used the stamp-a-ma-jig) as I have learned it is my time saver! Works perfectly each and every time! Next out came my main man, Mr Big Shot, and using the Window Frame Framelits, I used it to cut both the stamped image as well as the Island Indigo…( see below picture = I saved paper by using the inside of my mat piece!)

IMG_2214

I thought the Island Indigo piece needed a bit of extra depth so I used the Festive Paper Piercing Mat – then out came the Stampin Dimensionals to start the wow! The cute sentiment was from the Bring on the Cake Stamp Set, short and sweet!

IMG_2217

When I looked at the card…I thought – just one more thing….I think the touch of Black Taffeta Ribbon would be perfect…and with a Susan knot – clean and classic – just like Tony!

Are you thinking….how did she get that envelope? Simple – I made a custom one using the Simple Scoring Diagonal Plate!  I will say – it is simple amazing how much I have learned since I decided to become a SUD….it is just plain fun and the PALS resources are amazing – I can be in the middle of something – find myself stuck….go to the Facebook chat Pals resource – BAM – answer right away!
